Now it’s time for the party, giveaway & Jamie McGuire interview. *squeeeeeee*
Things have come a long way since I first interviewed Jamie back in August of 2011. Re-reading it has me giggling because, sure enough… some of the tidbits she hinted at (and/or hoped for) are happening right now! What a fun look-back!
I can imagine the kind of incredible book-whirlwind she is in right now, and am thrilled to have had the opportunity to catch up her!
*hug* Jamie!!! I’m so happy you’re here!!! Congratulations on your huge accomplishments and success!!
Maryse: What a difference a year makes!! I can imagine how much your life has changed from the day you released Beautiful Disaster to today. The things you’ve learned, your gained experience and knowledge of the book industry (on both sides, self pub AND traditional publishing). An amazing celebration of your work and such a success story! So… what do you think of all this? How does it feel?
Jamie: I’m still trying to process it all. I was solely self-published this time last month. Watching so many different, momentous things happen within a month’s time has been overwhelming, but in a completely positive and amazing way. I knew from the beginning that I’d made the right choice with Atria Books (a division of Simon &Schuster). But I’m now fresh from my first meeting with Atria’s staff, and I must say, I feel I’ve come into a company that feels like a family, and have made true friendships. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. When I started out in the industry as a self-published author I heard a lot of horror stories about publishing houses from authors. Having now experienced both sides, my view couldn’t be more different. Atria has not only made the transition smooth and pleasant, but an amazing, magical experience I’ll never forget.
Maryse: I’m so excited for you! You deserve this incredible success!! We’ve heard about the great Beautiful Disaster movie news and we are THRILLED! As you know, your fans (and my fellow Travis enthusiasts) have come up with all sorts of “Travis and Abby” dream casts. Do you have a “dream cast” you’d like to share?
Jamie: I’m thrilled, too! Of course, each time I write a book it plays out as a movie in my head. Seeing BEAUTIFUL DISASTER come to life onscreen has always been a dream of mine, but now it’s reality!
I don’t watch a lot of television, so I’m not familiar enough with young Hollywood to make a well- informed decision for Abby, but I think Brittany Snow would make a fantastic America, Cam Gigandet would make the perfect Shepley, and Chris Hemsworth has been my first choice for Travis since I watched his performance in Thor (and more recently, The Avengers). Chris could definitely nail the fierce and soft sides of Travis in a way few actors could.
Maryse: Great choices!! I can’t wait to see them come alive! Any exciting news we might not yet know about? Upcoming projects? Travis’s book is highly anticipated, but what about his brothers? Can we look forward to more contemporary romance novels by Jamie McGuire?
Jamie: The Maddox brothers are certainly worthy of their own novels, and no doubt they would be a hoot to write about. I’ve listened to my readers, and the majority of them would like to read about Trent, first, and then Thomas. Taylor and Tyler tied for third, of course! So, that is the order I would write them. However, there are other novels I’ve been waiting to write, plus I’ll be taking some time off for family after the release of WALKING DISASTER, so the brothers will have to wait. You can stay updated on my author page on Facebook, or my website. I’m very excited about adding a “BEAUTIFUL DISASTER MOVIE” tab so that readers can read about the latest updated on casting, production, trailers and more!
Maryse: Yayyyyy!! We have so much more to look forward to, and that’s all we could hope for!
*starts chanting* THE TWINS! THE TWINS! THE TWINS! (hint hint!! heheheheh)
Thank you so much Jamie!!

Now for that fabulous book giveaway!!!
Who wants a print version of Simon & Schuster’s Beautiful Disaster? The publisher has SIX copies to give away, and the first prize will be, of course, the signed copy.
How to enter to win one? Just leave a comment below, and by Thursday, August 16th 2012 at 10pm EST, I will randomly select 6 winners. The first randomly selected winner will win the signed copy, and the following five randomly selected names will each win a print version of Beautiful DIsaster. The winners will be contacted and will have 48hrs to respond with a mailing address. I need to have the winner’s information sent to the publisher shortly after that (as per their deadline), so if you are picked, do not delay or you will lose your chance.
Here’s a suggestion. If you want to enter to win the book, leave your comment, and you may also pre-send me your mailing address, by email, in case you do win (please don’t post it in your comment). In a couple of my past giveaways, there were some issues with getting the mailing address on time, and we almost didn’t make the deadline, so to avoid this, if I pick your name, and I already have your address, then all is good. Contest open to US or Canadian mailing addresses only. (but you’re welcome to comment and join in any time!!).
AND!!!! Wanna chat to your heart’s content about Beautiful Disaster? Join the BEAUTIFUL DISASTER DISCUSSION (spoilers allowed so enter at your own risk).
