It’s “reader favorites” Saturday, and I have a new fun AUDIOBOOK list for those that are busy traveling or doin’ stuff, but still want to get their book-time in. š
Jackie has a few goodies for us!
She says:
Iāve listened to 6 of theĀ Outlander books so far. Hands down my favorite.
- Outlander
- Dragonfly in Amber
- Voyager
- Drums of Autumn
- The Fiery Cross: Outlander, Book 5
- A Breath of Snow and Ashes: Outlander, Book 6
Also another tip is an app called Overdrive which will let you check out books (regular and audio) through you library. Best of all itās free.
I also am an audible member and every day they have a daily deal which is usually between $1.99-$4.99 and every once in awhile you can snag a good title.
I listen to everything from classics. Pride and Prejudice to best sellers to non-fiction to contemporary romance.Ā (A side story- I was playing tennis last week and one gal says ādo you hear that?ā āSomeoneās saying āhe caressed his hand over her breastāā. Red cheeks and completely mortified, that would be my iPhone that I inadvertently hit the play button while silencing my phone. Anyway-moving onā¦)
Some of my favorite contemporary books are The Play, The Offer, The PactĀ by Karina Halle,
Peaches Monroe series
- Stardust: Peaches Monroe, Volume 1
- Starlight: Peaches Monroe, Book 2
- Starfire: Peaches Monroe Series #3
No Regrets series by Lauren Blakely
Bad Things, etc RK Lilley
- Bad Things: Tristan & Danika #1
- Rock Bottom: Tristan & Danika, Book 2
- Lovely Trigger: Tristan & Danika, Book 3
Reason to Breathe etc Rebecca Donovan
- Reason to Breathe: Breathing, Book 1
- Barely Breathing: Breathing, Book 2
- Out of Breath: The Breathing Series, Book 3
Anything by Rainbow Rowell
- AND! Hereās the fun-tool again! ā>Ā Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE!Ā <āĀ This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it āMatchmakerā)! Itās an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!
LOL Jackie. Your side story at tennis is hilarious. We’ve probably all had our embarrassing moments when reading (or listening to) raunchy books in a public place š
I love audio books and always have one I’m listening to even if I’m reading a different one. Sometimes the one I’m listening/reading is so good that I have to use the whispersync to continue the story because I can’t wait.
My current listen is Nexus.
I started reading the Outlander series, and had to borrow my mom’s hardcover books while traveling last week. I downloaded Dragonfly in Amber and was able to listen while I was driving. I did speed it up a bit, because the 39 hours of the audio book was a bit intimidating. I’m reading Voyager, and if I’m in the car a lot, will probably do the same thing!
I love audibles! I’ve always got my headphones on while in the kitchen cooking or cleaning, or while commuting. I’ve been doing the classics that have been redone with contemporary voices: Jane Eyre narrated by Thandie Newton, Pride & Prejudice narrated by Rosmund Pyke. And I find this is the best way to read YA fantasy or PNR as the narrator’s take you away to another world. A Court Of Thorns And Roses, and A Court Of Mist and Fury have been brilliant on audible. The Paper Swan by Leylah Attar still remains one of my favourite audio’s.
Audiobooks rule!! Better than music to motivate me when cleaning, cooking or driving. I tend to go to my old faves frequently like Twilight or Hunger Games series. I have recently discovered my library has Hoopla which give me access to tons of audiobooks and I can download 10 per month for free!!! On a side note, anyone who has never read Breathing Series by Rebecca Donovan must do so immediately!! One of my all time faves. It’s great for all you tummy-twisting, angst lovers. š
I commute over an hour per day during the week so I love audio books! Some of my favorites have been Outlander, The Nightingale, The Law of Moses, The Girl on the Train, and the whole ‘Burg Series. I’ve also listened to several of Karina Halle’s books and several of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books but they’ve hit and miss with the narrators. I’ve found I definitely need to sample a listen first to make sure I like the narrator.
I love audio books. I can multi-task while listening. I can’t imagine listening to an entire Outlander book- they are such LONG books. One of my favorite series to listen to was the That Boy series-the narrator was great; had me laughing out loud.
