And this book is where my hatred for Artemis blossomed. How dare she! I love Zarek, and I loved this book.

On my opinion, I think Zarek is one of the most talented Dark hunter that I have ever read ( of course that will be next to my Acheron). He has impeccable skills in carving, poetry is one of his thing too and of course his love for reading.
The greatest influence that I would be thankful for this book is for reintroducing me to “The Little Prince” in a whole new way. I’ve known that book since childhood but I never paid much attention to the book. But hey who could not appreciate it when Zarek has put in his feeling from the lines…
One phrase in “The Little Prince” that hit me the most is:

“You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”

Sooooo soooo true!!

I’ve re-read Zarek’s book yesterday because of my search for M’adoc’s character. I thought he would be as cold and misjudging as he is in Arik’s book but no, he helped Astrid in every aid he could give for her to pass the right verdict. Althought as expected he is cold and stoic. I remembered what he said to Astrid whe she asked what do with him.

“A rabid dog cannot be saved,
Astrid. It is best for everyone, including the dog, for it to be put down.”- m;adoc

It was almost hopeless to help a man like him but he survived everything, He is a fighter and has a whole heart to give. It was so nice for him to give Astrid clues from their favorite book.

Zarek’s book is a certified heart breaker to the max! He has been violated so badly. I can’t imagine his life. At least Acheron has Ryssa that helped him in some ways. Come to think of it, none of the dream hunters even a skoti could stand his dreams. What kind of memories does that person have? If I were Astrid, I really couldn’t think of any way that I could reach out and soften a heart that is so broken. Maybe gentleness and sincerity would do the trick. As a god of justice, at least she really did her job and took her time to understand his personality. For that I give her the credit.
