Hi Patricia! I hear there will be one, but she has been working mostly on Anita these days. I will keep an eye out and hopefully will have some good news soon.

Hello,
I am a HUGE fan of both the Anita Blake and the Merry Gentry series. I just finished Divine Misdemeanors and I hate getting to the last published book in a series and not knowing when the next book will come out. I love, love these series and would seriously be very sad if they ended. I would love it if I could be notified of the next release dates of both these series. Thank you so much and thanks to Laurell K. Hamilton for some truly enjoyable reads. Misty

Hello,

I absolutly love both series! They are amazing. Is there going to be a 9th book for the merry series??

Maryse May 18, 2011 at 5:33 PM

Hi Megan! Yes it looks like there will be. In fact, Laurell just recently posted this on her Facebook, this month:

“I’ve never had non-lead characters so loud in my head before. Merry’s men – Doyle, Rhys, and even more obscure characters are talking to me more than ever before.Could it be not writing for so long has opened me up to more view points?”

Angie May 28, 2011 at 11:18 PM

I’m a huge fan of both your series’. Can’t wait to read “Hit List”. But I was wanting to know what is next for Merry ? When does her next book come out? Can’t wait to read it. I look forward to your books when they come out.

Kirsten May 29, 2011 at 11:34 PM

I’m about to read book 7 of Merry’s story. I don’t want these to end. Can’t wait for the next Anita novel to come out.

Maryse May 31, 2011 at 7:45 PM

Hi Kirsten! More to come for Merry! What series did you like better?

Maryse May 31, 2011 at 7:48 PM

Hi Angie! She hasn’t mentionned much about what’s next for Merry other than the characters have been running around in her head lately and she feels like writing…

Teresa June 17, 2011 at 5:23 PM

I accidentally read the books out of order, so I read them all again and her novels still have the same effect on me! I cant wait till number 9 and more of Anita! I heard a rumor that they might try to make Anita Blake a movie? Oh I sure do hope so!

For all of us waiting with bated breath…I started listening to the books on CD with Kim Alexis reading Anita’s travels and Laural Merlington reading the Merry series. I am really enjoying my return to the Courts and suggest others follow my lead. It makes the waiting easier. This is my first experience with Audio and am so glad I have discovered this medium.. Doyle s accent is divine as are all the men in the Unseelie Court.

Teresa June 30, 2011 at 10:40 AM

Oh! Where did you get the CDs?????

Kristen July 12, 2011 at 6:15 PM

Audible has them in file format so you don’t néed the CDs. Just finished reading (listening) to the last one and like everyone else I’m waiting for more. I know there are a few more books to get out of the series!

Joscelyne August 17, 2011 at 2:04 PM

I believe shes working on a Merry book right now. I follow her on facebook I know shes writing something and its not Anita. I soo hope its another Merry book!

Maryse August 17, 2011 at 7:05 PM

You’re right Joscelyne. She’s been hinting at the fact that Merry and her crew are running around in her head again…

George February 14, 2013 at 7:16 AM

I think she should have ended the series with Swallowing Darkness rather than go on and then leaving us hanging for soooooo long

mandy April 5, 2013 at 6:18 PM

Why stop the merry gentry series? It was wonderful. So much left unsaid. We need the next book. How can this b left unfinished.

Sammi April 14, 2013 at 12:17 AM

I am absolutely obsessed with Laurell K. Hamilton’s writing. I started reading all of her books when I was 13, which is really probably not age appropriate, but I still was able to enjoy them. I love them even more now that I am older (17) since I get more of the innuendos. While there are some pretty amazing characters in the Anita series (I have always had a crush on Edward), the Merry series is the one that really captured my heart. Doyle and Frost are just so freaking adorable! ^^

Since I read a majority of the comments above, I know that she has mentioned writing another Merry. I sincerely cannot wait, especially the babies are going to have to be coming sooner or later. Or, if she is doing a book from one of the mens’ point of views, then that could get really interesting. :D

Just curious: does anyone have any mental image of the babies yet? For some reason, I am imagining one (a girl) to look like a combination of Frost, Rhys, and Sholto while the other one (a boy) will look like Doyle, Galen, and Mistral. It would be interesting to see Andais’ reaction to the babies, since they will be a combination of a bunch of men she’s had in bed. O.o

Oh, and does anyone have any recommendations for new reading material? I am a pretty avid reader so I can’t guarantee I haven’t read it yet, though. Also, if anyone is looking for an awesome series, I fully recommend the PSI series by Laura Anne Gilman. It moves a bit slower than anything Hamilton has written and it is toned down several notches but I really like it. And please, no teen recommendations. I find I get annoyed by teen books, since I have been reading adult books with cursing for years.

Sammi April 14, 2013 at 12:21 AM

And I just read that someone recommended the Black Jewel series by Anne Bishop. I completely second that recommendation, although I think you should stop reading once you finish the original trilogy. The books after that just make me want to strangle Daemon. :/

Beth November 26, 2013 at 11:41 AM

I, too, am have a serious craving for all things sidhe and can’t wait for “Shiver of Light” due out next summer. In the meantime, I found 12 books I was reading in two days per book. Kim Harrison’s Hollows series. Start with “Dead Witch Walking” and have a good adventure. I’m reading the last of the Fever series, bummer and have picked up a new author, Sandy Williams, on a librarian’s recco. Haven’t started it yet so I’ve got no review. Will try Black Jewels, too. I don’t know how you guys feel about time travelers but Diana Gabaldon’s , just recently :) , 8 book “Outlander” series was well worth the time. Start with “Outlander”. Hope I’ve helped in the distraction category.

Beth November 26, 2013 at 11:56 AM

I should’ve proofread before I posted :( . The first line is either “am having” or strike the “am” altogether. Sorry about that. Just checked on another author I like, Deborah Harkness, and her “All Souls” books are officially a trilogy as of last month according to her site. These were a real pageturner. Witches, vamps and weres, oh my!

Lynette Braga February 17, 2014 at 8:12 PM

Hi Laurell,
I just finished Affliction and I am depressed. I love Anita Blake. Need more books….

Calista talis March 30, 2014 at 12:11 PM

Hi there, I’m a big fan of your merry gentry series I’ve already read it 2 time over , a couple 3 waiting for the 9th book to come out. I’ve been stalking the where about of this book and I even have the book store I go to ready to notify me as soon as they have it. But I’ve been waiting a couple years now. I love the writing keep up the great work.

Calista talis March 30, 2014 at 12:17 PM

I forgot the author I’ve been ready to keep me busy Patricia Briggs has done a great job with her mercy Thompson series as well as Alfa omega series. Great reads made the wait worth it

Ozmee May 10, 2014 at 8:42 PM

I’ve read both series over and over since I found them and lately have noticed errors in the MG series. A place online says a new novel is out 6/4 for MG and that there are ‘triplets’. Ages change from book to book as well as in the AB series. Well I just overlook that. But now I’m having daydreams of different scenarios for the AB books. I wish she and Richard had a chance, that she and Olaf would have a relationship of some kind; mainly I daydream of him kidnapping her and her memory being gone before she gets rescued. I REALLY wish she could shapeshift, that is just annoying and Richard has 4 marks and he can shapeshift so it makes no sense that she can’t. Plus, she went from being mad and bitchy all the time to docile and wimpy. But, however it goes I still am anxious for a new one on both series.
