We’ve Been Comparing Our Favorite Book Heroes – Our Top Ten Book Heroes List

in My Favorites

So, a few days ago, my friend Jackie (who’s on a huge Kellan & Christian Grey kick right now) and I were discussing how great our book year was, and comparing our favorite book-guys. Many of our fellow Facebook readers got in on the action, and we’ve come up with some very similar lists! Although… Jackie and a few of you have included some books that I haven’t gotten to yet, and now I have more to look forward to!

Here’s what we came up with (Jackie went first). Feel free to join in, in the comments below. Maybe you can introduce us to some new swoon worthy heroes and alpha males, for the upcoming year. My TBR list is long, but i’m always happy to add to it, and switch things around in order of awesome, insistent recommendations! ;)

Here’s a peek into our conversation, and then below, what I came up with.

Jackie: OK -I’ll go first then………. I’m going to upset alot of people with this one, but Travis from Beautiful Disaster really didn’t ‘hit’ me the way he did lots of others and How to Kill a Rock Star irritated me.
My absolute favourite has to be Fifty – I don’t like BDSM books – I just don’t understand how anybody could want to be controlled, or want to dish out the level of pain that comes with BDSM. Maryse persuaded me to give this book a try and it was very grudgingly that I started reading it . I was amazed at how I loved Fifty and was shocked that I could see beyond his ‘issues’. I felt -really felt – the emotions that went through Ana, and loved her almost as much as him. I loved the shouty capitals and the E-mails. I loved the inner goddess and the concience conversations. I loved ‘laters’ – lets face it – I loved Fifty. Awesome book.
Second place (so far) goes to Kellan from Thoughtless and Effortless. I say ‘so far’ because I have yet to finish Effortless and I’m praying he doesn’t do anything to make me hate him. Nah – hes just too much of a good guy for that. i actually go all squeeish at the though of his “mornin’” and that drop dead gorgeous half smile.
Third and Fourth place has to go to Jesse and Evan from SJ Frost’s Conquest (Conquest Series). Two gay rockstars – one famous and at the top, one young and up and coming. I adored them both. The sex scenes were seriously hot ( considering I’m female and hetrosexual) but they were just generally such open, loving and devoted people. I adored them both and can’t split them so they are joint placed.
Joint fifth and sixth place goes to Crick and Deak from Keeping Promise Rock. Another gay love affair, but this one is more about love, honour and family. Loved those guys..
Seventh place goes to Brian from the Sinners series – loved him. He probably would have ranked higher if I hadn’t hated the skank that was his love interest. Its rare for me to like a female lead, but she was a scabby groupie and he should have had better taste!
Eighth and ninth place goes to Jake and Tor from Bareback and Natural Disaster. I loved both of these boys and their story. I was so angry at one point with Tor , that I wasn’t sure I could read on, but it was well worth it once I got through the pain.
Not sure who takes tenth place – I’ll think on it and let you know! My top ten (well nine anyway) – whats yours????? xxx
Oh I think my no. 10 is the guy from The Host (… I can’t remember his name) Not Ian, the first guy, the one she goes looking for. He always seemed mysterious and a little mean but couldn’t quite make himself hate her once Wanda ad taken control. Loved that book. Xxx
x
GitteLove it….”skank” I haven’t heard that word in years made me laugh! I haven’t read most of those books so I can’t really comment but agree about Christian and Kellan being in a Top 10!!!

Jackie: Gitte – I’m British, so may well come out with odd sayings. Maryse finds my British-ness highly amusing at times!

Sherry: well since I’ve only read a few so far, I’ll go with ALL THE SINNERS, Crick and Deacon and TRAVIS!!!!! That’s good Jackie ;P AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, UPS just dropped off Fifty Shades of Grey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love UPS

Jackie: You must tell me what you think -and get the second book ordered now, or you will be climbing the Walls when you finish the first book! Xxx

Debra: ‎@Jackie I’m with you on the first 2. Fifty is my #1 and Kellan 2 (must get Effortless). I also didn’t care for Travis so he doesn’t make my list. I also like the Brians from Rock Me and Sinners. Since I’m 60% done with Rock Chick, I think Lee has to go on my list also. I’ll have to continue thinking on this one while I’m baking today.

Yanira: I love Kellan and Fifty and Brian too from the Sinners, but my absolute #1 still Brian from Rock Me ♥♥♥ him and his bother Evan also makes my list.

Gitte: Yanira – I completely agree my definite no. 1 will always be ♥ Brian ♥ ..it’s the others that are uncertain and keep changing LOL!!

Jackie: oh yeah -tattoo artist Brian. Loved him too! Xxx

Yanira: Lol Gitte! Same thing happens to me!! But Brian still the one for me…all of the others are tied in 2nd place.

Michele: My top 10:
10. Ryan (Love Unscripted) cause he’s SO SWEET! :D
9. ALL OF THE MASTERS (Masters of the Shadowland SERIES)
8.Brian (Backstage Pass)
7. Sed (Rock Hard)
6.Dave (Deep in the Woods)
5. Caleb (Captive in the Dark) {I am going to catch it now, LOL)
4.Travis (Beautiful Disaster)
3. Brian (Rock Me)
2. Christian Grey (Fifty)
1. Kellan (Thoughtless)

I love it!! We do match quite a bit, and I laughed at the lack of numbered lists, because that is EXACTLY my problem. How can I choose between Travis, Fifty, Tate, Kellan and Brian (my tattooed bad-boy) See how I snuck that in? Tee hee!! HOW?! Impossible. They are all my #1′s. So let me *attempt* a numbered list ;)

Maryse’s List:

  1. TIED (In NO order, as they are all equal to me in their own superbly infuriating, wonderfully loving ways).  Travis, Fifty, Tate, Kellan and Brian. They all made me feel intensely. They all made me angry at certain points, and sad, and then of course, these are the masters at winning a girl’s heart (in their not-so-obvious ways). But do you know what? I think I’m leaning towards Brian from Rock Me and Kellan from Thoughtless in the top of the top spots. No wait.Tate from Sweet Dreams. Who wouldn’t wanna be on the back of his bike? Nooooo wait. Travis. What a roller coaster he took us on. His heart was so fragile despite his hardcore bad-boy attitude. NOPE! It HAS to be Fifty at #1. How can anyone beat Fifty? So perfect and so tortured, and such a journey he took us on. Seeeeeee? Impossible to choose.*sigh* I’m fickle, and I have a feeling in just a couple of weeks, Christian’s gonna be my #1 again, when book# 3 is out. And then Travis when his book comes out. And so on, and so on… heheheh.
  2. Hawk from Mystery Man (Daydream Series) – extreme alphas and he kicked it up a notch!
  3. Ty & Joe (Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain Series) and At Peace (The ‘Burg Series)) – Extreme alphas that can’t make up their minds. Always fun for the reader.
  4. Blake (Poughkeepsie) —-> soooooo sweet. OMG this character touched my heart BIG time.
  5. Ryan (Love Unscripted) —-> I loved the intense buildup, and his no-holds-barred affection for Taryn. But then… he made me pout (which I loved because it made me feel), but I’m still waiting for some peace on the matter ;)
  6. Brian from Backstage Pass. Who doesn’t love a famous gorgeous rock star that DOESN’T want to play games?
  7. Paul from How to Kill a Rock Star. I adored him, and his rockstar struggles and he made me cry the hardest out of any of these books… EVER.
  8. Nick from The Sweet Gum Tree. So intense and sooooo noble (almost to a fault). I still adored him.
  9. Matty from Flat-Out Love. How perfect was he? Not my usual choice (there is no bad-boy there, but he rocked my world just the same)
  10. Sean from Finding Home. I’ll just go with the adult version of him, though. Hehe.
Okay… so who’s’ next?

1. Curran the were lion from the Kate Daniels series. For Christmas, there is a brand new Kate Daniels novella featuring Kate and Curran available on Ilona Andrews website. It is only going to be free and available for 2 weeks. It is around 96 pages. It takes place after book 5, Magic Slays. She has it in a bunch of different formats, Adobe PDF, Kindle, Nook, and Adobe epub. It is going to be in print as a bonus extra at the end of Gunmetal Magic, Andrea’s book in summer 2012. http://www.ilona-andrews.com/magic-gifts/ She asked her fans to spread the word to her other fans.

2. Valiant the man with lion DNA from Laurann Dohner’s Valiant, book 3 in The New Species series.

3. Drake the alpha male arms dealer from Dangerous Passion by Lisa Marie Rice

4. Roarke the mega rich, bad boy smarty pants from J.D. Robb’s In Death series.

5. Clay the werewolf from Kelley Armstrong’s Otherworld series. Book 1 is Bitten.

6. Zeke who escpaed from an experimental lab, from Skin Heat by Ava Gray. The romance in this one blew me away. It was amazing.

7. Hawke from Angela Knight’s Stranded. A soldier with a sword who likes bondage, a deserted island, and a lot of bondage.

8. Christian from Fifty Shades of Grey. Hot, damaged emotionally, obsessed with Ana.

9. Baran from Jane’s Warlord by Angela Knight. Hot soldier from the future travels back in time to save her life, while falling in love with her and enthusiastically tying her up for sex every chance he gets. This one was VERY HOT.

10. Cam the half gypsy half English mega rich gaming club manager from Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas. This one is historical but he was obsessed with Amelia, the heroine, and I loved their romance.

Oh man I don’t know what to say about this list. I mean, I don’t read all those books. But I read 3 books that make your #1 list, Maryse. I just don’t know yet who is Tate and Brian. But what to say about Kellan, Travis and Fifty? Gee I must say that my favorite one is Kellan. He’s hot and sweet at the same time. And a REALLY suffered with him. Travis is a bit maniac. But Fifty? He scared the hell out of me. hahahahaha I mean, hahaha Fify in the first book was a very sick guy, i didn’t like him at all. But he had my heart in the second book. I love all of them with all their flaws and qualities, but Kellan definitely own my heart between all this bad boys.

Maryse December 29, 2011 at 12:29 PM

It’s true Carla… Fifty was a hard one to take at first. Eeeeeeeek. But he was so darned mysterious, and then that moment in the mirror? Oh wow. LOVED it. Kellan rules! Tate is from a recent series I just picked up from Kristen Ashley that I adore, and Brian. Brian is so amazing that I just re-read his book two days go. LOVE ‘em all!!

Maryse December 29, 2011 at 2:37 PM
