Let’s start another top 10 list! While I began reading this genre because of my vampire obsession, I discovered that other “paranormals” could be just as exciting! So I’ll list my favorites that are not vampire-centric. (this is also a discussion on my Facebook page, so comment here, or join me there, and let’s gush!)
![]()
1.) Karen Marie Moning’s Fever Series (Fae related, but there are other “others” too) hands down – one of my most favorite – vampire or not – of all time! My mom just started the series and can barely sleep she’s reading so much. And when she does sleep, she’s dreaming of them!
![]()
2.) Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunters Okay, I know. I already put this one in my vampire list, but it deserves to be here too. This series is about wayyyyy more then just vampires. Greek gods and goddesses (and then some other gods on top of that), shifters, vampires, demons and humans all fight together, or against one another for a greater cause. Some of the funniest moments I’ve ever read are from this series. And some of the steamiest, too. And the swooniest. I lived in this world for a few weeks, and loved every moment of it. Here is a quote directly out of one of the books that describes them best:
Dark-Hunters were created out of men and women who’d suffered unjust tragedy and who wanted revenge on those who’d wronged them. It was the screaming of their souls that summoned Artemis to them, and if they accepted the bargain, Artemis would bring them back to life and give them twenty-four hours to exact their revenge. After that, they become soldiers in her army that was dedicated to protecting mankind from the Daimons. The nature of their creation guaranteed that all of them had at least one major tragedy in their past.
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Oh… ‘cept it forgets to mention how unbelievably HOT they all are

3.) Stacia Kane’s Chess Putnam (Downside Ghosts) Series Ghosts are terrorizing the world, and magic & witches keep them in control. Everyone’s either human or magically gifted. Many shocking moments and revelations that will keep you riveted. Lots of mystery and action, and TONS of emotional angst. Darn. This little description doesn’t do justice to the series at all.
![]()
4.) Karina Halle’s Experiment in Terror series: Amazingly fun, scary and super angst-y in a “will they or wont they” way. Dex and Perry team up to create an online “ghost hunting” show and the creep-factor in this series is BIG!! But Dex and Perry have their own personal secrets and *issues* to contend with, along with their extreme attraction for each other. The romantic tension is HUGE, and your heart will feel each installment every step of the way. The books just keep getting better and better.
![]()
5.) Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark Series Vampires, demons, shifters….everyone’s looking for love. And they’re mostly always finding it with a Valkyrie female that hates their guts! LOL! Very steamy books, lots of fun!
![]()
6.) Larissa Ione’s Demonica Series About a group of demon brothers that run a hospital for paranormals. But they have lots of enemies… and, still manage to find love in the process.
![]()
7.) Stacia Kane’s Megan Chase Series A psychic female with a radio show that has suddenly managed to anger many demons. And now they’re after her. Especially a smokin’ hot one. But what is he really up to? This was a trilogy that had me gasping in shock, managed to tear my heart out, and I loved every minute of it!
![]()
8.) Terri Garey’s Nicki Styx Series Nicki had a near death experience and can now see “dead people”, and they all want her help. But one specific paranormal just won’t leave her alone. A sexy bad-boy, he’s giving her human boyfriend a run for his money. And really,
“Sometimes
The Devil is a gentleman.”
(quote by Percy Bysshe Shelley)
I’m clever, huh!?
LOL!
![]()
9.) Sherrilyn Kenyon’s “The League” A futuristic series, revolving around a group of vigilante assassins protecting the people from a corrupt political system. The men in this group are a powerful new breed of men (human/mixed with other stuff) and they all have some serious personal issues that make for very emotional and passionate stories.

Woops…apparently I need to read more cause I’ve only come up with nine

Pssst Maryse…what about the Highlander series by KMM – please don’t tell me you’ve forsaken them?!
Oh and again I need to flogged – I have not read Larissa Ione or Kresley Cole.
Hi Maryse,
I stumbled upon your blog and I totally agree with your top ten lists!
My current addiction is to Christine Feehans Dark novels….omg…I have probably read 10 of her books in the past 3 weeks!
I didn’t see Kim Harrison among your lists of authors. She writes similiar to Charlain Harris…my opinion. Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan Vampire Hunter series is a sure bet to make your next list!
Happy Reading,
Christine G.
The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher and the Nightside series by Simon R. Green.
You didn’t forget about Nalini Singh did you? The Psy/Changeling novels are the best. J.R. Ward and Lara Adrian tie with Singh in the number one spot!
I have much reading to do, it appears! I haven’t read a few of these series you’ve mentionned yet (The Psy/Changeling, Rachel Morgan, and Dresden files) but glad to see how high they rank for you guys. Lots to look forward to! I have every intention in reading them.
Christine: I have read the first 6 or 7 of Christine Feehan’s Dark series. While I absolutely loved the first three, I needed to space the others out a bit (it got to be too much for me). I like ‘em, just in small doses
Ashley: I do have Lara Adrian in my list, but she’s in my top 10 favorite vampire series. Agreed, I really enjoyed her stuff and look forward to more.
Lily: Nope I haven’t forgotten KMM’s Highlanders, it’s just that I’m not finished the series yet. I’ve only read the first what? 3 or 4? I shall continue (I hear Adam Black will make us swoon like Barrons did)
Wow, this list could go on…Keri Arthur with Riley Jenson and Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan at the top, I think.
I really liked the The Breeds by Lora Leigh. They fit into the non-vampire catagory.
Two words…JR WARD!
Agreed, and I stuck her in my top ten Vampire series list
She’s my NUMBER ONE spot!
Laurell K Hamilton has a “paranormal” series out too. Its the Merry Gentry Series. I saw that you thought the Anita Blake series had/has too many “love” scenes. Merry Gentry has some too but not as many since she doesn’t feed on lust. If you haven’t read it, it is definitely a nice read.
Agree with the Fever series. Total crush on JZB!! I also agree with the Hallows series by Harrison. I can’t believe no one said the Kate Daniel series by Iiona Andrews!!! Kate Daniel rocks!!
Thanks for the recommendations, can’t wait to start on Stacia Kane and the rest of Kenyon’s series. I loved blood trinity and can’t wait for the sequel.
I had really enjoyed the Mercy Thompson series written by Patricia Briggs. I also enjoyed her Alpha and Omega Series. She shows a different side to the werewolf society and the paranormals that they have to deal with.
Hey all I read a new paranormal series I am so in love with these men ~blush~.. the series is by Alexis Morgan and it is the Paladins they are great books and an easy read. They are about warriors that fight others from another universe that is closed by a barrier. It is full of fighting and romance of course. I am always looking for new books to read and Alexis is a must read you all should try them….Happy Reading!!!!!
Have you read Gena Showalter’s Lord of the Underworld Series!!! They are not the Blackdagger Brotherhood, but the stories are amazing!!
Yasmine Galenorn’s Otherworld Series. {Also called the Sisters of the Moon Series.} It’s about 3 half human-half Fae sisters who live on Earth and are trying to prevent a demon uprising.
Each sister has different powers that go wonky due to their halfblood nature: One is a witch whose spells don’t always work in the manner she wishes, the second is a werecat who ends up turning into a tabby instead of something bigger which as you can tell, doesn’t always work for a battle, and the third was a skilled acrobat until she fell into a vampire meeting while spying on them and was turned.
The books feature demons, some of which aren’t evil, but just want to live in secrecy, Fae, and dragons, among various other species and there are currently nine in publication, with more to come. Each book is told from the POV of one of the sisters, with them alternating every 3 novels.
I agree about Yasmine Galenorn’s otherworld series but I would definitely put Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan series at the top of my list. Also, Gabriella Poole’s Darke Academy series, Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vamps series is Brilliant, and L. J. Smith’s Dark Visions and Secret Circle Series. (She wrote The Vampire Diaries books but I think these are better written and edgier.) Ooh! And what about Rachel Vincent’s Werecats series?
I’m enjoying Gena Showalter, the Lords of the Underworld series right now. I love it! Gena writes the Lords so good I can’t decide which is my favorite. So, I’ll take all of them!
I love the lords of the underworld like you I can not decide which is my favorite one. I also love the brothers from JR Ward….
I love some of your top 10 but have not read all of them. But you might like Gena Showalter, J R Ward (Black Dagger Series) Lora Leigh (Breed Series, Elite Ops and Navy Seals), Christine Feehan (any of her books), Christine Warren, Pamela Palmer, Alexis Morgan and last but not least Lynsay Sands. Oh I’ve got lots of them. I’m on disability and about all I do is read. I’ll have to try some on your list that I’ve never read before. Thanks for the names.
Hi Kathy! And thank you for the suggestions. A few of them are actually on my Top Ten Vampire Series (and it went past 10) hehe…
Hey another series I have read is by Kelly Armstrong. She writes a “Women of the Underworld” series. She is a Canadian author, so some of her books are located in Canada. Her books deals with werewolves, demons, witches, sorcerers, and vampires, etc. She also has a teen series- for those readers who have teenagers. She was at our local library last fall and there were a lot of teens present, so the series must be pretty good, and she stated that she just signed on for another three books in that series. It is called “Darkest Powers” series.
So do you by any chance like any other younger adult books besides Twilight? An OK series that I found decent is the Chicagoland Vampire Series by Chloe Neill? I took this from her website
“At twenty-seven, Merit is made a vampire . . . but not just any vampire. She’s become one of the most powerful vampires in the world, and she’s being initiated into Chicago’s controversial Cadogan House.
Added to that, she’s got a sexy but pretentious Master, a she-vamp with a centuries-old chip on her shoulder, and a best friend who has supernatural issues of her own. What’s a vamp to do?”
another series that is paranormal in nature for younger adults is the soul to take series. it is about a beansehide (banshee) my niece loved them to the point where she wanted the series for herself. they are not think like the twilight series but they are really good. another one that is about like the twilight series is Beautiful Creatures (2 books so far) by Kami Garcia and margaret Stohl. then the Strange Angle series by Lili St Crow. there are three so far in that series i think.
for adults Christine Warrens Others series is hopelessly addicting. it deals with the entire gamet of paranormal, shifters witches demon and of course vampires. very interesting ot see how she is able to not only take each book and interweave them with the others but also expand so much on the world that she is creating.
Jr ward is my favorite!! Her brotherhood series rocks.. im sure its on ur top 10 vampire series but it should be on this one too!! LOVE HER!! Sherilynn Kenyon and KMM are also my next 2 favs,, good pics! And i agree.. I couldnt get into the Nalini Singh books either… futuristic stuff isnt my style, but i could see how people like her.
Try the Nalini Singh “Angel” series… I couldn’t get into the psy series, either, but theses about knocked my socks off.
Just finished Lords Of the Underworld. If you loved Dark Hunters and Immortals After Dark you will love the Lords of the Underworld. I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Christine Feehans Dark series is great too. I really enjoyed those and love that the series is so long.
has anyone looked into the Dirk and Steele books. there is another one of those coming out too and they are really good. there is also another series that is very old in comparison to what is posted right now. i don’t know that the series actually has a title but it is definitely a series. it starts with Knights of the Trillion Stars by Dara Joy. then comes Rejar and Mine to take. there is also a kindle type on that is in the series but i don’t have a kindle so i can’t really read that. it is futuristic but has things like shapeshifters and magic users in it. really a good series.
I have read the Dara Joy books. They were great. I have been waiting to see if she would do any more of these. She did do 2 other books that were pretty good also.
considering they are what at least 10 years old i doubt it but i wish. my favorite by far was Rejar. He is such a scamp in a very adorable way ::laughing;:
Maryse, love your site, I’ve bookmarked it and check it regularly! But you must check out Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld… Not BDB, but good enough to keep you entertained until JR Ward’s next release date comes around.
If anyone is interested in the dara joy book you can get the ebooks on her page plus can get three of them in amazon i just found out that she finally put two other she wrote in the series to print too i dont like ebooks so i havent gotten to read them yet and cant wait for anyone who love the antics of those devious and totally unrepent but lovable things called cats you will LOVE these booksthere are 6books in total and i got reminded that the series is the matrix of destany or something like that at the very least prepare to laugh
Three suggestions I think you would enjoy.
HP Mallory:
(1) Jolie Wilkins Series = 2 books
(2) Duclie O’Niel Series = 2 books
Heather Killough-Walden:
The Big Bad Wolf Series = 3 books
I have read The Big Bad Wolf Series and I liked them all, but I’ve got to say I loved the last one. I laughed so hard at parts of it. The cat hanging off the balcony and when she hits him in the head with the top of the toilet tank. I hope she does more to them.
Opps., I’m sorry I confused the Big Bad Wof series up with the Magnus Pack series by Shelly Laurenston. The Big Bad Wolf is The Heat, The Strip and The Spell I think. They are really good to. Have any of you read the Christine Warren books. I like them. The have several different things in it including vampires, wolves, witches, demons and so on. I also like Kerrelyn Sparks books about vampires. They are pretty good. They will not take Sherrilyn Kenyon or Lora Leigh place in my library but make for a nice difference.
Rachel Vincents werecat series (the Faythe Sanders series)..
Found these totally by accident… grabbing 3 paperbacks for £1 from a specials shelf in the supermarket, for my daughter to take on holiday with her. Dunno what the other 2 books were… but she came back raving about the Rachel Vincent Book “Pride”, which is book 3 in the series. When she got back I started reading that whilst we ordered the other 5 in the series (& then squabbled over who would get the head start & read the first book first).
Refreshingly adult, without having to resort to the dreadful erotica in other fantasy series that are desperately trying to avoid being categorized as teen/young adult reading.
They made me laugh, jump and say a big “yeuwww” out loud on 2 occasional and a couple of times proper sob! They were like the Twilight saga in that whilst i was reading the books I never really mentally left the world of the books. And when I got to the end of the last book… I just started on the first book again.
Read them!
Hi Ditty! I heard Rachel’s “were” series was excellent! I have a few I’ve started collecting. I want to get the whole series and then get started. Sobs too, huh? Love books that make me feel that much
Hi Cathy! I read the first one in the Christine Warren series, and liked it enough. Loved how intensely he decided she was “his”… hehe. The Big Bad Wolf series is bargain priced, and now that you say it was good, I’m going to download it now.
So this would be the Magnus Pack you were referring to? I loved the funny part in Kerrelyn Spark’s series in book #1 when Roman gets kicked you know where – and he’s all “Why!!???” and in so much pain. LOVE that series.
should check out Gena Showalter’s Lord’s of the underworld series if you haven’t already i really enjoyed it
I’m impressed with the list that you’ve provided. Some of the books I have read and I must agree with you. I absolutely loved Talon’s book in Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter series. He, along with Acheron, were my favorites! Her stories were surprisingly refreshing from some of the novels I had previously read. JR Ward is another of my favorites, whom I discovered completely by accident while searching for new books on my Kindle. I have to say, the thing you said about Rhev was exactly how I felt. I wasn’t much of a fan until his book lol.
So, I’ve read some of the aforementioned comments and some of the series’ were ones I would have recommended. However, some have not. You should seriously consider reading any of the books by Lauren Dane, especially her werewolf/shifter novels. Her writing never ceases to amaze me. She has a talent that not very many authors have. Shelly Laurenston (aka G. A. Aiken) is also among my my favorites. Magnus Pack under Shelly Laurenston, and Dragon Kin under G. A. Aiken. Also, an author I just discovered, Tina Folsom. She has a series called Scanguard Vampires, and from what I’ve read (all four of the books that are currently out) I’ve enjoyed her writing.
Now, Gena Showalter is one that has been mentioned, but I encourage you to read her series, The Lords of the Underworld. I doubt you’ll be disappointed. Not as fantastic as Ms. Ward’s novels, but certainly worth the read.
I have to agree with everything Celia says. I love all of the authors she spoke of. I have some of G A Aiken books but have not read them yet. I also have read the first in the Scanguard Vampires series and loved it. I am looking forward to reading the rest.. I’ve got to say that I love that you have listed the authors where I can go look and find new authors when I need something new. I am reading the Riley Jensen series by Keri Auther now. Am on the fourth book. I’m a little disappointed. Maybe I just expected to much. It is a good sereis but not as good as some others that I’ve read. But everybody likes different things or the world wouln’t go around. Please keep us posted on anything new that might come along. Love your site.
I can’t thank you guys enough for the recommendations. I’ve been hitting a few that haven’t given me that “thrill”.
It’s true some of us love books that others don’t necessarily bond with, but I’ve found if you’ve got overwhelming enthusiasm from a grand majority, chances are, it’s going to be good!
I have a long list to look forward to now
I haven’t read all of the responses, so this may have already been said, but is there a reason that Laurell Hamilton’s Merry Gentry series isn’t on your list? I liked it better than the Anita Blake series. Just curious. Susan.
Someone mentioned earlier the Dirk and Steele series, that is Marjorie M. Liu my current favorite. Her not-entirely-humans are so unique, the first one is part of an anthology and the hero is a gargoyle! She also has the Hunter Kiss series going and a few stand alones. I LOVE her sense of humor!
I totally agree with those who mentioned Sherrilynn Kenyon & Christine Feehan.
For a smaller series, but a seriously fun one, try Stephanie Rowe’s Immortally Sexy series; featuring Theresa the dragon, Becca the demon, and Mona the Goblet of Eternal Youth disguising herself as an espresso machine. LOL
Hey I just came across your blog looking for another series to read. I see you haven’t mentioned the Succubus Series/ Georgina Kincaid by Richelle Mead. OMG this is a great great series. You HAVE to read it. I am trying to wait patiently for the next book to publish the end of August. Also the Anita Blake series is excellent. I haven”t finished it yet. But I read I believe the first 6 so far. I am going to be downloading the Succubus Diaries tonight.
Dresden Files by Jim Butcher is great . It has a male lead character named Harry Dresden which is different b/c I am usually into the female lead role novels. It is my #1 UF novel series; paranormal series. Gotta read it… It is a Good Read.
Hi Donna! I hear it’s great, so I’m gonna add it to my page
Is there any romance at all in the series? Even just a touch?
Richelle Mead’s “Georgina Kincaid” series is full of vampires, succubus, angels, and demons. It’s very addictive and will keep you guessing.
Maryse,
There is some romance in the books, especially sexual tension b/w characters. Some books have more romance with sex then others of course, but it is not really a romance novel or erotic romance novel. The novels are more about the story line and of course it grows as the series grows. The Dresden Files Series now is so addictive or more accurately an obsession at this point. His new book come out this month; late July, Ghost Stories. Enjoy! But you probably should read at least “Changes” first before going into Ghost stories, the plot will make more since.
I love The Eternal Guardians Series by Elizabeth Naughton and The warriors of Poseidon Series by Alyssa Day!!!!! Both of these are my favorite authors!
Dear Maryse
You don’t appear to have reviewed Gail Carriger’s Parasol Proectorate series, although you show Heartless as a new release last month. I enjoyed the Stacia Kane Megan Chase books & have the first of the Downside books to read, yet Gail’s books I belive are much better written & while I have a crush on Greyson Dante, Lord Conall Maccon has my heart.
You should really read Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series. It has shapeshifter, vamps, etc. I anxiously await each new book. You might want to read Karen Richardson’s Greywalker series. I totally agree with you about Moning’s Fever series I read each book again and again waiting for the next.
Ooooo…one more new one out there Elle Jasper’s Afterlight. It’s the first part of a trilogy.
Thank you so much !!!!!! for the book list
I have read all the Dark Hunters Books from Sherilyn Kenyon as well
the books from Christine Feehan
I enjoy all of the stories
thank you again
great blog:) I think I will read some of Youre favorites from top list:) Thank you so much
Thank you Anna for taking the time to let me know
If you like these books, I might suggest the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. It’s artful mixing of magic and technology and realistic characterizations makes all the books a wonderful read. I stayed up four days straight finishing them.
If you haven’t already read Susan sizemore’s primal series and Alexandra ivy they are both excellent
The immortals! You have to read them Maryse!,,
Thanks Kyla! If you are referring to Alyson Noel’s series, I’ve read the first one and did enjoy it!
Hi Maryse,
Nothing wrong with paranormal romance at all it’s just that I like my romance in my novels realistic with tension between characters if you know what I mean
Thanks again!!!
I really liked your new list and a couple up there are for sure in my top 10 like the fever seires and stacia kane. I want to try the other ones on your list and I didn’t even know that stacia Kane had another series?? I will have to check that out. With the other series on your list, are they more paranormal romance or true urban fantasy? I wanted to make sure so I don’t buy them and then get disappointed
try “the Hollows” series by Kim Harrison. She’s a bounty hunter witch in an alternate reality with vamps, were’s, and demon’s. Finding a love that can keep up that and isn’t gonna get her killed is gonna be a real challenge.
I’ve seen elsewhere that you recommend Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy Books. She also has some adult books, the Georgia Kincaid Books are good, but I REALLY love the Dawn Swan Series. The first one was a little difficult to get into, but the series turned out VERY good. I also enjoyed the Christine Warren (author) books, which are vampire and shifter romance stories. Another good series are the Dark Crescent Sisterhood books by Anna Windsor. As far as young adult, I really like the City of… series by Cassandra Clare, the Gemma Doyle books by Libba Bray, and the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr.
Just so you know where I’m coming from, some of my favorites that you have reviewed are the BDB (Ward), Cat & Bones (Frost), Demonica (Ione) Marked (Cast & Cast), IAD (Cole) and Midnight Breed (Adrian). I know this is a long list, but several of the series you rate in your top 10 lists are ones of my reading list, so I thought you might like a few more to read. Enjoy!
*sorry, DARK Swan, not DAWN Swan, lol.
One of my favorites is “The Blood Bound” series by Amy Blankenship. I’m truly addicted to this series. I love the way Amy writes, the series flows so smoothly from one book to the next. Mmmmmmm, the men in this series could bite me ANYTIME! There are were’families, vampires, fallen, and other supernatural beings in these books. LOVE LOVE LOVE this series.
Richelle Meads Succubus Blues Georgina Kincaid series is fantastic. A must read
YES!! I’ve been told this often, and I have a feeling the minute I read it, it will make my top list. So…. I really better get started, shouldn’t I?
Hi Laura!! Excellent recommendation! I don’t think I have it up on my website as a reading order guide yet, so I’m going to work on it right away!
Thank you Christine!! I think I’m going with the Succubus series next (Georgina), but wow, I have so much to look foward to! I appreciate you taking the time to make me a list of your own favorites
Thanks John!!
Hi Tanya! The list is a mix of both styles…I do enjoy the Urban Fantasy a lot too, though. Have you read Cat and Bones?
Like your recommendations, I’ve read several of these series too. I have a couple of other favorites – Alexis Morgan – Paladins and Talions Series, Lynsay Sands, Argeneau Series, Lora Leigh – Breeds Series. If you don’t mind something darker and “earthier” then I recommend Laurell K Hamilton’s Anita Blake series as well as Merry Gentry series and I especially like J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
Kresley Cole is also good!
First Paranormal series I read was Gena Showalter’s Lords of the Underworld and they are still my fave…..really should take a look at them, and since her and kresley cole are like bff’s there is some intermixing with IAD series in her books, love that!!!
You should read the Argeneau Vampire Series by Lynsay Sands. They are the best books ever! Also, the Fallen series is great.
JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series!! those books are just out of control AWESOME!! Kresley Cole’s IAD and Gena Showalter’s Lords are just as awesome but JR Ward’s writing calls to me. Nalini SIngh’s Psy Changelings are pretty amazing too if you’re willing to dip a few toes into the sci-fi sector.. lately i’m reading some of Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breeds & Gena showalter’s Atlantis…
I am now finishing up “Awakened”, the latest book in the House of Night series. Unfortunately now I must wait for the release of “Destined”. So, since I really enjoy reading these types of books, …I was wondering if you could recommend another interesting series that would be similar to the “House of Night” series. I am just looking for another series to start while waiting on “Destined” to be released. I wish that the “House of Night” series would keep going, but all great things must to come to an End of course. I absolutely love reading ‘The House of Night series!
I also have the “Fledgling Handbook” which is informative and sometimes helps answer my own questions while reading the series. Would you recommend also reading “Dragon’s Oath” and/or “Nyx In The House Of Night”? I understand that the’re kind of like series associated books, though I am not really sure how they flow with the entire series.
Thanks A Bunch !
Irene
I just finished the midnight breed series and loved it Do you have any suggestions what to read next? I have already read all the black dagger brotherhood and darkhunter novels and could use a good series to get into.
Definitely read the Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series. It is great!
Another one I am hooked on is the Night Tracker series by Cheyenne McCray.
Thanks for the ideas for a couple new series to try. I’m always looking for something to read.
Hii!
I just found your blog and I have to say, I love it
I’m not sure if you have read this series but I highly recommend Nicky Charles’s Law of the Lycans series.
There are 3 books so far and a fourth being released soon and they are all amazing
Wasn’t really into werewolves but her books got me addicted.
They are all free to download online and a great read.
Hi Zoe!! I have read the Nicky Charles series and LOVED it!! YES!! I think I will go ahead and add it to this list, officially – great idea!!
You have to check out the Anita Blake series from Laurell K. Hamilton since it’s not on your list. My second favorite is Mercedes Lackey Valdamar Series, you just can’t put it down.
Hi Kristen!! I have read it (except for the latest one). Enjoyed most of the series (up to a certain point…). It’s possible I have it listed on my “Top Ten Vampires Series” list.
Hey Maryse.. I just finished the Fever series.. and I feel very empty now that I am done!! Are any of the other series you have mentioned in this list similar to that series, in that it is a continuous story? Not like, say, the BDB or the Midnight Breed series which follows a different character each book. I do love those series, but I found I really liked the long story and progression of the Fever series. Any suggestions? Thanks, I love your blog, it’s my go-to resource when I need to find a new book to read
Jennie:: Have you tried the Cat & Bones books by Jeanine Frost? (actual series is called the Night Huntress books). The follow the same characters throughout the series, but also have begun a spin off series that also gives back stories for side characters. This way, if you want to read the spin off stories you can, but if not, you can just follow the main story line (there are currently six books in the main story, with another three anticipated). I REALLY love this series. Best of luck!
Please try H.P. Mallory’s two urban fantasy and paranormal romance series — the Jolie Wilkins series and the Dulcie O’Neil series. They are both great and I’m looking forward to her next books in both series!
Thank you so much for the suggestion Alisa! I’ve created the reading order guides, and they should post by Halloween
Excellent suggestion, Christine!! LOVE Cat and Bones!
Jennie: Also try the Stacia Kane Downside Ghosts series – it follows one set of characters through 3 books (so far) with a 4th and 5th on the way.
Did you ever get a chance to read the “Gardella Vampire Series” by Coleen Gleason – the first book is “The Rest Falls Away”? IT WAS WONDERFUL and I think others would enjoy it as well but they tend to seem to read only what you have read and recommend.
Have you ever read The Dark Series by Christine Feehan? On book 11…Loving them more and more as I read on…Check them out
Hi, you should really read the Psy-Changeling series. They are as awesome as they come! And full of bad tempered, steaming hot, half animal men. Every book will keep you prisoner ’till the end. Everyone should laugh, cry and sigh their way trough these wonderful books! Love
Ohh – just realized I forgot to put in the author, Nalini Singh, who wrote the previously mentioned Psy-Changeling series, which everyone should give a try.
the soul screamers series was amaizing. the 7th book comes out this year but i couldnt put them down! im addicted and got my grandmother into reading it too. you should read them asap!
Thanks Tasha! They do look really good. I also want to read her “were” series.
Oh,my absolute favorite is Kim Harrison!!! Witches, vampires, demons oh my!! Action packed from the beginning! If you like Laurell K Hamilton and JR Ward you will LOVE Kim Harrison!
All the books listed by everyone are great. I want to second the Collen Gleason, Gardella Vampire series because they are rarely mentioned and are absolutely fantastic. One of my first votes for Vampire series (particularly for young adults, but great for all ages) are the Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine! I can’t get enough of them. It’s hard to put them down, and I have to have the next one right at hand or I’ suffer withdrawals – ha ha.
Thank you very much for that recommendation, Suzan!! I’ve heard lots of good things about that series
I love that “needy” feeling for the next book. You know when you’ve got that feeling, that the one before it was awesome…
This was one of the greatest series I have ever read. I can’t wait until I find another series that keeps me this excited. I son’t know who to reaed next.
You should try Seanan McGuire’s October Daye series. Amazing! Also, Kevin Hearne’s Iron Druid Chronicles.
I’ve read a few of the series on your list, but have you read Lora Leigh’s Breed series? Every time I get one from that series I have a hard time putting it down.
Maryse,
Might be worth a shot!
Have you tried Patricia Briggs Mercedes Thompson series? It’s one of my favorites–although the last book felt a little rushed. I know you like Alphas & this book has a hot one–literally the Alpha werewolf
Dawn
Hi Dawn!
I haven’t read it yet, btu it’s been highly recommended. I do love the alphas (human or otherwise
)
Hey Maryse,
I’d suggest reading the Nightshade series by Andrea Cremer … there are only two in publication at the moment as the third in the series is yet to be released. I couldn’t put the first two books down after I bought them. First book I read in one day (thanks to uni holidays) and the second took me a mere two days to read. Hope you like them … I am awaiting the third with anticipation … I hate it when authors do this to me =P.
You seem to love the same books I do. I think you would LOVE my favorite series. The author is Nalini Singh. The series is called the Psy/Changeling series. There a currently 10 books with more in the works. the Psy’s are humans who have Psycic powers and have turned off their emotions. The Changelings are Humans who change into certain animals (mainly they focus on Leopards and Wolves) both changeling packs have very hot Alpha males that lead them and they generally fall for a Psy female who doesnt admit to having emotions. Couldnt put them down once I started, great plot lines and some great steamy sex scenes
You seem to love the same books I do. One series I STRONGLY recommend is the Psy/Changeling Series by Nalini Singh. There are 10 books so far with more to come. The Psy are humans with psychic abilities. They have shut off all emotions. The changlings are humans that can shift into an animal (the 2 main types being leopard and wolf). These books have great story lines and steamy sex scenes. In the first one the very sexy Alpha leader of the leopard pack falls for a female psy who begins to feel emotion after she meets him. I wound up staying up all night to read it. They just keep getting better with each book.
Thanks Kelly! This author has been highly recommended, and I’m definitely looking into starting one of her series, for sure!
The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R.Ward is also one of the amazing series I have read. Its all about vampires race protecting the humans race against evil without the humans knowing about them. There are ten books so far and each book has a different hero but all the books are interconnected. And let me tell you all the characters of the books are fabulous !!
Agreed Gayatri!
I have them in my Top Ten Vampire Series list! If I can remember correctly, that series is my #1
I would suggest the Keri Aurthur: Riley Jensen series. They include all paranormal types, vampires, werewolves, shape shifters. Riley is a paranormal hunter and the series kept me captivated for weeks. The steamy scenes didn’t hurt either
Thanks for all the great ideas on here I can’t wait to jump in!
Read Lora Leigh’s Breed Series and Christine Feehans Dark Series and Ghostwalker Series. They are GREAT
You should definitly read the mortal instrument series by casssandra clare and wicked lovely but i dont kno who thats by
My friends really loved Mortal Instruments. I’ll definitely look into it. I think I share the same name as one of the characters?
Kim Harrison’s “Hollows” series featuring Rachel Morgan, a witch and bounty hunter. Have read the series three times. As you can tell I love it. My second favorite books after the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.
So far I’m relying on you book lists to get me through the winter! I have been actually relying on your site for a good half a year now and suffice to say I haven’t gone anywhere else!
I’m wondering if there is a series that could possibly be steamier than Kresley Cole’s Immortals series cause if there is I have to be readin it! I’ve already ready read the Night Huntress series and many others. Thumbs up the sex and paranormals!!! Oh and Lothaire was so HOT!
Mallory ~ I thought the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward is pretty steamy. At least when I read it my husband was a very happy man. ;P
I read all of Nicky Charles’ books and loved them. They are the only books I’ve read about werewolves and I would love to find more stories like these. Any ideas?!
Found your blog by accident today and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I would guess about 4.5 years ago I went into the bookstore for the first time in a very long time. I hadn’t read ANYthing sense 1998 which was RA Salvatore Dark Elf series which was extremely good (not steamy) about dark elf whose race is inherently evil yet he was “good” and very different. Nortoriously best at everything, envied yet despised for his shortcomings. The story is of his trials, adventures, and fights to live up to expectations, threats on his life, even exile which should have been his death. Fantastic creatures and races, magic, ethics, adventure and action galore. Definitely a lead char to fall in love with even without all the steamy sex. Now, since then I have read most of the ones on yours top ten lists and for this list I would also suggest Karen Moning’s Highlander Series which is the first series I read upon picking up books again. If you like them steamy and alpha male, it has it. Adam Black and Cian being my favorite leads. I saw you had her Fever series listed, if you haven’t read her Highlander series they go hand in hand pretty much. Again, love your blog!
Actually…My all time favorite series is The Hollows by Kim Harrison. I saw soemone else suggested it and forgot to mention it. Very little steamy to it but the writer will make you feel every emotion out there. This is the kind of book that makes you laugh out loud, cry to where you can’t see and have to wipe your eyes to keep reading, piss you off to no end, keep you on the edge of your seat when things get harry, and keep you wanting more even after you read the last page. Imagine a world where a virus knocks out 2/3′s of the human population. There is no longer any need for the prenatural creatures to hide themselves from the human race since they no longer have the numbers to hunt them down. They live freely among the humans. Policing prenatural creatures can’t be handled by mere humans however for obvious reason so the prenatural races have to have their own system of “police” (I.S. short for Interland Security) with their officers being prenatural of course. This is where Rachel Morgan begins as an agent for the I.S. but due to circumstances ends up a Bounty Hunter with a Vampire (Ivy who wants a relationship with her for her own reasons while she only wants friendship) and a Pixie (Jinx who is one of the best chars in the book) as her partners. Rachel grows through the series, she takes alot of kicking and kicks some butt yet Harrison doesn’t make her into a infallable hero. Her weaknesses are just as huge a part of the books as her strengths. When she gets knocked down she literally has to crawl to get back up. Kim Harrison does an amazing job creating this world and the chars ranging almost every fantasy/paranormal race there is. They are so real you almost start believing in them yourself. I can read them over and over again!
You are amazing. Thank you so much for these recommendations! You know the gripping feeling of depression mixed happiness mixed with excitement after you finish reading a book? Well yea going through it right now and I was desperate to find other books to read and hallelujah stumbled on your website (: THANKS AGAIN!
I love most of these series and can’t recommend Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series highly enough! I would also add Shelly Larenston’s Shapeshifters. They’re hot and snarky and delicious!
I haven’t been on your site in a while and didn’t see this book so I better tell you! I have been in search for a book similar to the fever series, which has always been my number one (thanks to you!). I found shadow reader which is also about fey and surprisingly really good. Shadow reader by Sandy Williams. I also like the disillusionist by Carolyn Crane if you haven’t tried it
Hi Tanya!! Thank you so much for those recommendations. I’m on it!!
Thank you Karin!! Those two authors are so frequently recommended, it’s amazing. I really need to start them ASAP.
I have a couple other favorites I thought you might want to add or read. Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton. Also, the True Blood series and they both have all kinds of creatures in both. I love them.
Thanks for the advice you have a cool site!
Would you reccommend Keri Authur ( the Riley Jensen serious)
I’d recommend Anne Rice’s The Witching Hour and the rest of the series about the Mayfair Witches. Most of them are very good!
Kim Harrison’s “Hollows” series….should be on EVERYONE’S to read list! My favorite series next to Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter Series!!!
I am a huge fan of paranormal romance and currently keep up with around 10 series. J.R. Ward-The Black Dagger Brotherhood series is the best so far! If you haven’t indulged yourself…now is the time!
It is also one of my favorites.
I love nalini singh – lora leigh and christine feehan
Rachel. I get many recommendations for Nalini and Lora. I’ve read quite a few in Christine’s Dark series. The first 3 were great, but I started losing interest at a certain point. Maybe if I space them out…
Just discovered your website, a great read! I am a huge fan of paranormal romance & have to say my fav authors are Sherrilyn Kenyon (Dark Hunter series), Kresley Coles (Immortals after dark series) , Gena Showalter (Lords of the underworld series ), Nalini Singh (Psy/Cahngling series), Lara Adrian ( am reading her latest ‘Midnight Breed” series at the moment ), Larissa Ione Demonice series) & Lora Leigh (Breed series). I never get tired of reading & re-reading these author’s books!! Will look forward to my next visit to your site!!
Really should add Kelly Armstrong wolf/witch/vampire series and also Gena Showalter Lords of The Underworld series.
You definately should read Gena Showalters Lords of the Underworld series and J.R. Wards Black Dagger Brotherhoods series. Im almost what you would call obsessed with paranormal romance. And another that you should look into is Alexandra Ivy’s series Guardians of Eternity.
Hi Kaci!
Yep read ‘em (well ALL of BDB – they are in my top ten Vampires list) and a few in each of the other series you’ve mentioned.
Good stuff!!
Thanks Leslie! I really need to get to a few other paranormal series, that are so often recommended. I think Lora Leigh’s sounds great. Actually a few “shifter” series are intriguing me right now.
Suzanne, I’m actually in the middle of Gena Showalter’s LOTU series. Have you read Paris’s book yet?
You must read “Women of the Otherworld” series by Kelley Armstrong. There are many mini reads that go with it but they just sidetracked me. I submerged myself in that world for weeks-12 books and counting….AMAZING!!!!! Not to mention sexy. The guys…..let’s just say my husband was a happy man and had no idea why
Thanks Crystal!! I get tons of great recommendations for that one!
Your blog is awesome! So many books/series mentioned that I have read and loved. Try the Amanda Hocking blood books as well.
@Crystal haha my husband a very happy man after I read the JR Ward books!
Has anyone ever tried Laurel K. Hamilton’s Merry Gentry series? She’s known for the Anita Blake series but this one is also very good. Most of the story comes from the Unseelie side of the fae. Court intrigue, magic, good looking men, backstabbing…did I mention the good looking men? Very steamy! She does go a bit wild with the number of partners as she did in the Anita series but she seems to be focusing on two more than the rest. Doyle and Frost…I lean toward Frost personally. All that brooding hunk of sexual tension crammed into a very breathtaking man.
Don’t worry Barrons, you’re still my ultimate brooding hunk!
I absolutely love all of Laurann Dohner books , i have read them all! Could you recommend any other authors that you feel would be good. Thanks a bunch.
you have to read Suzanne Wrights “Feral Sins” It is the wittiest sexy book i have read in a long time. If you haven’t read it, get on it..it is gripping from the first page!
Lara Adrian is amazing. I also love Lynsay Sands. Her books combine humor and steamy romance wonderfully.
Christine Feehan Dark series
I recently read Lothaire and I’m now obsessed with Immortals After Dark series. A few were misses for me, but most were sooooo good. Great list!
Agreed Heather. A great series overall, and quite a few that i consider my favorites. Especially the demons. LOL! Those horns have me laughing.
Wanita… I very much enjoyed the first 3 or 4 in that series!!
Love the Karen Chance Series! They leave me exhausted and happy!
Have you tried the Lords of the Underworld series by Gena Showalter? It’s not better than the Dark Hunter series, but they make for a good read.
Nalini Singh!
try her Psy-Changeling series. hawwt stuff! <3
I second Nalini Singh’s Psy-Changeling series!!!! A better series, I’ve yet to find!
I’ve read six of your eight and completely agree they are must reads….However! The series that would top all of those in my opinion is Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R Ward. I couldn’t put them down!
J.R. Ward… The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series
This and Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series are my favorite vampire book series.
J.R. Ward is amazing author and really makes them come alive… like I am Apart of the story seeing everything happen in front of my own eyes. Its intense, raw, and emotional.
Yep actually those are in my top 10 vampire series list. If I recall, BDB tops the list
Agree mostly except the stacia kane were kinda tame…. Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series was beyond awesome so totally would be in my number 1 spot as well. Must reads are Ilona Andrews Magic series (actually both her series are great), and even better than Nalini Singh’s psych series is her Archangel series… Darynda Jones also has my come on get your next book out barometer seriously tripping. Am in love with all things Kristen Ashley her Golden Dynasty book was Game of Thrones dothraki great(lol)…. I actually have more but will stop now for fear of revealing myself as the ultimate bookaholic oooooh did I say G.A. AIken/Shelly Laurenston and Thea Harrison’s new world is beyond awesome. Ok I am really done now… happy reading
haha Diana you totally made me giggle!!! I’m actually starting PsyChangeling tonight. Slave to Sensation. YAY!
If you love Larissa Ione have you read Sydney Croft? Great books too. By Larissa Ione and Stephanie Tyler. They are really fun, great books with hunks and paranormal galore!
thank u so much for the recommendation. i got hooked from twilight too but was a little disappointed with the pg rated love scenes. im not a teen after all. read bdb recommended by a friend and loved it. then went on a hunt for more. i tried christine feehan’s dark series and it was good at first, but then the sex scenes got WAAY too repetitive that i lost interest. so i searched again and found ur blog.
i chose dark hunters cuz u listed it twice and i totally loved it. i mean i dream about the hunters. ash ash ash ash ash ash ash. were u where im at now? omg i dream about him ALL THE TIME. i have got to say the pics online do him NO JUSTICE. sighs. what hooked me was all the tragedy they all faced and i just so wanted to be the one to comfort them (winks). i think she did so well because (as she mentioned) she was abused as a child so she wrote from a place she once was. and boy did it work (although i am sorry for her tragedies). never have i ever been so enthralled before.
i wasnt impressed by the immortals after dark series at all and barely finished the first book.
the dark hunters are the best. thanks for the recommendation
I have the Fever series but have not started it yet. Just finished Jayne Castle’s Harmony series and I enjoyed it very much. It is a paranormal suspence romance series.
Thanks for all your recommendations
ThAnks for the recommendations! Always looking for a new series. Definitely gonna check out ur suggestions. Here’s two of my faves—-Patricia Briggs the Mercy Thompson series and Laurell K Hamilton the Anita Blake series. Plus P.C. Cast+ Kristin Cast the House of Night series (prob preteen) but is really good as well. Thanks!
I’ve just noticed nobody has mentioned Jacquelyn Frank’s Nightwalker Series – Starts with Jacob. For those who like dragon shifters – try GA Aiken’s Dragon Actually – cover’s pretty yummy too.
I do hear LOTS of great things about these two series, Nara. Lots of recommendations! Thank you!!
Hey, can I have the name of a few more series having more than 10 books. Read nearly all the recommended series from this site. Thank you for creating such a hub of like-minded people.
Have you read the Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare (city of bones, etc)? Books 1-3 are awesome. Books 4& 5 are good but not really needed.the movies are anticipated in 2014.
Hi!!
I started with the twilight series as well but have found that the PG rated sences were not for me… lol. I have thoroughly enjoyed Blackdagger Brotherhood, in fact I think I have read them all at least 5 times. But for those of you who like the paranormal love I found someone not mentioned Jennifer Ashley she has a shifter series and an imortals series… so check her out you won’t be disappointed with the sences
J R Ward – The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series is a great ‘can’t put it down series. Comedy, erotica, romance. It has an ongoing story line with separate side story to each book. Must read!
Please try the black jewels trilogy by Anne bishop. I love many of these books and thought you might enjoy this one. It’s different but the characters really grab a hold of you. I’ve reread it many times!!!!!
These have come highly recommended in the past and I do intend on reading them. Thank you Tina!
I recommend the Hollow series – Kim Harrison, If you haven’t read them, we’re on book 10 so have some time to invest!
I enjoyed True Blood, which I didn’t see on your list. I love almost ALL of the books you have said you love on your website.
So, we have a lot in common when it comes to books. Some I haven’t read, so I’ll be heading to get those soon. I’m trusting you opinioin!
Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter
If you haven’t read the series yet, then honey, you’re about to get an all new fav!! Enjoy!! =)
I dont know if you have read them but i would recomend every one to read the premonition series by amy a bartol i fell in love with them and cant wait till the 4th comes out, its YA but the tension and romance is realy intence (i think) in them. x
If you want some more books especially good vs evil type the fallen series is so far phenomenal. I just bought the fourth book! Also the clockwork angel. I just bought ita second half the clockwork prince
it’s apart of the mortal instruments series that I haven’t started but will
also for some realism. The doctors wife and the glass house are two amazing reads. I read hem in Iraq and it was hard to put them down
I love books and have recently decided that I need to start reading some older stuff. Maybe learn a little more about history
Dear Maryse:
Just found your website today. Wow! I thought I was a reader! I gleaned about 70 authors from you all–and that doesn’t include the five or so that I had read. With all these authors, and their series and stand alones, I should be busy reading for several months, at least. I’ve bookmarked your site, Maryse, so I can come back and check for new additions to my resource pile. Thank you so much, all of you, for your wonderful comments and reviews–they have made my rankings much easier. (But I still plan to try all those I haven’t read.) xoxo
P.S. Butcher’s Dresden Files are A+ to me. Harris’ Southern Vampires is A+, too. Feehan is A- because she has become repetitive with her descriptions of sex scenes and number of them in her books (Dark Series and Nightwalker Series). Still, you can slide over them, no foul. But I have so many new authors to read! Thank you, Marye! Thank you!
PPS: I forgot–one of the contributors wanted another author of werewolf novels. MaryJanice Davidson writes the Wyndham Werewolf series–lots of humor and seriously gorgeous werewolves and werewolfettes(?). She also writes many other series (vampires, merpeople, dragons, demons, and whatall, all filled with humor. Enjoy.
Thanks for the list Maryse! I love your blog, you rock
Just wanted to add a series that I think is GREAT (it’s a YA series, very emotional). Jessica Shirvington’s Embrace series. It’s about Angels and well, I just thought it was very well written (aside from the errors, but that might have been me when I converted it for my new reader?) and the characters got to me. I couldn’t put them down (3 so far) and I thought about it so much that I actually blogged to the author (which I normally don’t do). I think it’d be good for your list and readers! Thanks again Maryse
BDB, Lords of the Underworld, Immortals after dark, Psy/Changelings are all time favorites. Shannon k Butcher has the Sentinels Wars series and Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Eternity is hilarious with the little gargoyle and Gena Showalter also has the Atlantis series. I started off loving the Anita Blake series got a little intense with all the lovers but stuck with the series and her latest books have been really good. She listened to her readers and cut down a lot on the sex, better story lines.
Love these lists Maryse, thanks so much!
TIA
My pleasure, Tia!. I didn’t know the Anita books were getting better. Good to know!!
I loved the Lord or Deliverance Series by Larrisa Ione. I am now reading the Elder Series by Thea Harrison.
Yes I love Larissa’s books!!
Love your blog! Just wanted to say, Nalini Singh’s ‘Guild Hunter’ series are hands down, the yummiest, most riveting, and imaginative stories I have ever read!!! A very dangerous, erotic, and sophisticated read, while retaining it’s relatable and believable qualities. I cannot recommend these enough! I love Elena and Raphael and have read the first three in the series three times! You just will melt when you read these, let me know when you do! I promise, you will be hungry with every page you turn. Happy reading!
Hi Maryse,
Can I just say I love your blog, I check it everyday for new recommendations and releases. I love reading and you always seem to have an eye for what I like. Now I know everyone has recently read Samantha Young’s Mighty Storm that most people loved. She is a great author and and wrote one of my all time favourite paranormal series the Tale of Lunarmorte. Its a YA series but I would say recommended for more older readers aswell. The series surrounds a wolf pack so has all the pack mentality and fights everyone loves. The female lead is kick as and the romance between her and the alpha is frustrating but also sweet. The books are just amazing, loved them, couldn’t stop thinking about them after, you have to read them I promise you won’t regret it.
Keep on reading and telling me what you like coz I know I’ll buy it.
Happy reading
Jessica Laws
Relating to the above post I just remembered Samantha Young didn’t write the mighty storm, it was On Dublin Street lol still great book
just got confused with the two samantha’s lol
xx
I just got done with j.r. wards black dagger brotherhood series,
I can’t believe how quick I fell inlove with the series, all the books
had me from start to finish!!!,
but my favorite brother had to be warth!
He was a bad boy and didt want to fall in love
but he could not help it!
Is there any other series that u could tell m
Good to read? Thank u
Definintely have to try the Shifters series by Rachel Vincent. The first couples of books are good but they just get better and better!! The last four books are so intense you just cannot even consider reading anything else until you have finished them all!!
I’ve read all the authors on you blog. Here are a few that I did not see that many of you who are looking for some new greats might want to try. Faith hunter – Jane Yellowstone series; Gabriella pierce – 666 park avenue series; and Sierra dean – secret series. Great reads with paranormal themes and steamy scenes to keep a girl up at night (LOL). If anyone else has new authors I would love to know so I can try them on while waiting on new releases from all these great series.
666Park Avenue is now a television series in Canada
!! great books!!
I love you blog and have found tons of new series based on your love lists, so I felt duty bound to recommend one of my favorite authors that you may not have read. Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changling series is one of the best shifter series I have every read. She also has an Urban Fantasy series called the Guild Hunters that features vampires and angels. Anything written by Nalini is at the top of my romance lists. Give her a try and let me know what you think.
I devoured Kreley Cole’s series. I couldn’t get anything done a few summers back reading JR Wards Brotherhood series . Both highly addictive and super imaginative stuff. I would recommend Riley Jenson series and Mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare.
OMG Cat and Bones a phenomenal series by Jeanine Frost. If haven’t read it check it out. I luv Cripin!
Have read several on your list, unfortunately some of the books and authors mentioned is not available in South Africa!!!!
I have read the goddess summonig series by PC Cast and absolutely loved it. Thanks for your blog!
Kay hooper – The Bishop Series (Special Crimes Unit).
It is one of my favorite series. It is about psychics who use there powers to catch sereal killers. It has some romance and is halarious!!
Virgina Kantra Children of the Sea
Anything by Laurann Dohner but specifcally New Species
Lora Leigh The Breeds
JR Ward’s Series
Nalini Singh’s Psy Changling seriers
But Laurann Dohner is my girl of choice right now!
Hi Maryse, I stumbles across your blog today & I’m happy I did. I’ve found many new authors and books to read in this thread. Yeah for me!! I see the Ilona Andrews “Kate Daniels” series has been recommended already. Have you read them yet? If no… then you must! In these books romance is secondary to the plot and not erotic. With that said, I can assure you the world building and depth of individual characters is so good you won’t miss it. I’ve recomended these novels to both men and woman and all were drawn into this amazing page turning tale. With that I’ll say… happy reading to us all!
Hi Maryse, I have just found your blog and found a lot of new books to get my teeth into.
Have you read The Dark Series by Christine Feehan? If not you must I love this series I think there are 23 books in all but if you like hunky hero’s with issues and lots of steamy bits they will bright up your street.
Hi Maryse, I have just found your blog and found a lot of new books to get my teeth into.
♥
Have you read The Dark Series by Christine Feehan? If not you must I love this series I think there are 23 books in all but if you like hunky hero’s with issues and lots of steamy bits they will bright up your street.
Enjoy
Just want to say thank you for all the hard work that must go into putting all these series in reading order. I always use your site when starting a new series. It’s so frustrating when even the authors site doesn’t have a complete reading order.
Also I don’t know if anyone suggested these but here a few on my favorites that were not on your list. G.A. Aiken dragon series, Elizabeth Naughton eternal guardians, and Mimi Jean Paminoff accidentaly series, and the Atlantis series from Gene Showalter. In YA I loved Laurie Faria Stolarz touch series and Gene Showalters intertwined (actualy anything fron Gene S is amazing.)
I have read 90% of the series and books on most of your lists. I love all books! I don’t, however, think I saw Katie MacAlister’s Dark Ones series. It’s dark, broody, steamy-ish (leaves things up to your imagination), and lough out loud funny. The heroine’s are smart, funny, and usually not human or have a special gift in their human selves! A wonderful series! Highly recommend!
J.R Ward vampires and super steamy!!
Hi Maryse,
Excellent website! Thanks to you, I have read a lot of great series of books!! Your top 10 vampire and your top 10 paranormal, I’ve been reading through each series like crazy! Thanks for keeping this website going!
Hi Maryse,
just discovered your site and love it, gonna try a few new series out. I need to suggest a series for your top paranormal section cause I just can’t get enough of them and they keep getting better! Kim Harrison’s The Hollows series. Amazing…and after reading a few of your reviews I’m sure they’ll be right up your alley…especially Trent
Jess
My top favorite paranormal is Lora Leigh’s Breed Series. Surprised its not amongst your list!
you have to read the Gena Showalter Lords of the Underworld series, omg half demon half immortal warriors, all hotties and a great series, im addicted and there is now a spin off series which is just as good
Also Christine Feehans’s dark series is a must read (vampire) and her other series the drake sister series is amazing too (Witches)
I’ve been reading all the comments posted & only 1 mentioned the ghostwalker series by christine feehan. Omg! This series is great! Of course I’ve read every book from her “dark” series I’ve also read all of kenyon’s dark hunters & all the books that tie into that series but really you guys should read the ghostwalkers series by c.hristine feehan you won’t be sorry. They have a reading order but I dnt think it really matters which book you read 1st. I can’t wait to hear what others have to say about this series. Happy reading
I just finished S.L. Jennings Dark Light series….OMG! Sex, Love, and Magic! Awesome series!
Thanks for the book lists. I appreciate the time and and effort you’ve put into your website.
Awesome suggestions! Unless I missed that someone else reccomended, I cant believe that Kalayna Price: The Alex Craft Novels arent here. I promise you will loooooove them!! After Fever, definitely tops my list for a series that “sucks you in and won let you go” One of the coolest Fae series out there and what is more awesome than TWO hot guys to love?!?
l love your blog! Thanks for so many great reads I’m gonna be busy
Another book series you might love is ‘The Grave Witch’ series by Kalayna Price, I was simply hooked!
‘The Night Huntress’ series by Jeaniene Frost
!! Cat and Bones !!
Read them and love them
Love, loVE, LOVE Karen Marie Moning and her “Fever Series!” This is my #1 too. Have you read anything from HP Mallory? She’s another favorite UF writer of mine.
