If you are new to the Vampire/Paranormal romance world, and have just ended the last book of the ”The Twilight Saga“, I’m certain that you are dying to immerse yourself into something similar.
Here are my recommendations (as per what I have read so far).
After reading the entire Twilight Saga, I immediately went onto the ”Sookie Stackhouse” novels by Charlaine Harris (this is the series that the HBO show “True Blood” is based off of). This was a GREAT series, and while not exactly in the same “atmosphere” as the Twilight books (you know…the dreamy, deeply emotional, never-ending possessive love feel), there is a ton of romance, adventure, betrayal and an ongoing “love triangle” that just gets better as better, as the series continues. I was hooked and realized, that while this was not “Twilight”, I liked the series just as much.
After that, I went onto the Anita Blake series, and while I have read every book in that series, it is definitely in a world of it’s own. The vampires are more traditional (dead to the world during the day, and dangerous, sexy and mysterious at night).
Would I recommend going directly to that once you’ve finished the Twilight Saga? Mmmmm… not really… eventually (adults only!), just not yet. The Anita Blake series, for the first few books, concentrates mostly on adventure/danger and a *slight* love theme in the background. The first few books barely touch on the “romance” we came to love so much with Twilight. While there is some romantic tension, it simply drove me crazy when I’d finish each book, and still didn’t get much more than a slight “love scene” that was barely more then just a kiss and talk of attraction.
As the series progressed, 5 or 6 books in, we finally get some relief through a nice romance story and again the fun “love triangle” (and I was officially hooked), but at a certain point, a few books after that, the “romance” turns into full ADULT rated interactions, and become a whirlwind of “sexcapades” (some romance but mostly angsty drama mixed in with crazy, extremely descriptive sex). Essentially the triangle has practically turned into an octagon.
Future books in the series can be honestly exhausting, (at least in the romance/intimacy department). While I have read each one, I can say without a doubt that these, after “Obsidian Butterfly” may not appeal to readers more interested in a true romance story with adventure. Personally, I have enjoyed the series enough, and have become attached to some of the characters, so I will continue to read. While admittedly, the dominant sexual theme is relevant to the characters and situation at hand (an unwanted side effect of Anita’s situation), I found myself skipping over ALOT of pages involving most of these interactions. Let’s just say that while my mom and I love to talk about books we are reading, this is not one series that I would be willing to discuss with her!
Ok ok, so here are my recommendations for those addicted to love, and Vampires (and “shifters”), after the Twilight Saga:
I would say:
The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost (Lots of ROMANCE, and you’ll just love the two main characters. Lots of funny scenes, sad scenes, adventure – this whole series is just GREAT satisying fun!!)
Then, the Sookie Stackhouse Series (lots of books to read, funny scenes, TONS of romance, scary adventures in each, and two amazing Vampires that you’ll have a hard time choosing between -well, I know who my favorite is!) – This is actually my favorite series.
Next, I thoroughly enjoyed most of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Each book focuses on one male and female character and the struggles they face for true love despite their “situation”. While each book has some action adventure in regards to an “enemy”, the enemy is mostly “blah” (except for book 3 – the adventure part was actually pretty decent), but the love story is always fantastic!
While all of the novels I have mentioned have some sexual interactions (not meant for young adults as the Twilight series was), a few of the series are slightly more detailed in the sexual interactions then others. Since I have never read any other romance novels, I can’t quite say whether these differ from regular books, but I thought I’d throw that in there.
I haven’t even put a dent in the amount of Vampire books I still have to read, so I know my opinions will change as I become more proficient in my Paranormal Romance library, however, anything that could help me get over my “Twilight fix” was good enough for me!
For MORE recommendations, read my recent post: “A Special Hug for My Sister-in-Law Who is in Mourning Over the Twilight Saga“ (and scroll down through the comments to see what other reader’s suggest) - good stuff there!
01-30-2010: AN UPDATE: After a whole year of strictly reading the paranormal genre, I still love these books to death, and my “to be read” pile continues to grow. I still thank Stephenie Meyer for writing the Twilight Saga, allowing me to discover a whole section of books that I might have never perused before.
I have NEW recommendations for your post-Twilight reading (and really, this is just a sampling of the books that stand out in my head right now):
- The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead – Two half vampires training to protect vampire royalty, and struggling against their own mutual but forbidden attraction. Full of action, and plenty of romantic tension. 4 books with a 5th on the way.
- The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning – A human female discovers she is from a line of special fae ”seers”. Learning how to use her newly discovered abilities with the help of some very powerful, mysterious (and heartbreakingly sexy) men, she realizes that the world as we know it, might just be about to end. Hrmmmm…Barrons or V’lane…? I still can’t choose…(you’ll see
) - The Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon – you will be occupied for weeks with this lengthy selection, about Greek Gods and gorgeous human but now un-dead warriors battling demons and vampires, all the while finding the loves of their lives. All in all, an excellent series. My world revolved around Acheron for awhile.
- The Argeneau Vampires series by Lynsay Sands – all in all, just good fun! They are hilarious! Some books have a touch of danger, but they are all extremely romantic.
- The Bourbon Street Trilogy by Kathy Love – I’m still stuck on these hot New Orleans vampires that just want to live normal lives. Playing in a cover band at a local bar, flirting with the tourist hotties, and dealing with their own deeply hidden turmoils.

I have been reading like cray since Twilight. I read the Anita Blake series, The Sookie Stackhouse Series, The Blue Bloods, The House of Night Series,Vegas Vampires Series, The Undead Series(Queen Betsy) and more, but what I stumbled upon yesterday is just amazing.
Vampire Academy Series has been sitting on my shelf for a couple months now and I have been putting them on the back burner. Since Yesterday I am already on the 2nd book (Frostbite). They are great! There has been only 2 books that I have actually cried while reading, the first was the twilight series and the second was just last night finishing up Frostbite! I cant wait to start on book 3 today (Shadowkiss)!
Another series That I absolutely loved was The Immortals by Allyson Noel, Cant wait for Dark Flame in June!
This is absolutely one of my favorite series. I loved the latest book, and can’t wait to see how Richelle wraps it all up. I hate that it’s coming to an end…would be cool if she’d do a “spin-off” (the Vampire Academy crew, as adults…)
Hi Stephanie!
It’s a great genre isn’t it? I’m dying to try the Highlander books, so thanks for the recommendation!
You are doing what I always thought would be cool to do!! I love your site. I was raised with my mom reading books all the time. I never wanted to read. my daughter got nominated for student of the month at her jr high school, so she was able to rent a movie as one of the perks for doing so good.Well she rented Twilight. YEP Twilight… well i watched it the fist time and it was ok I dont know why but i ended up watching it again and got completely hooked like everyone else. I had to know what was going to happen next which was not the norm for me, so my husband went out and got me all the books for my anniversary which just happen to fall a couple of days later thankfully for me!! I read all the books in a week.I hated that it had to come to a end. But really all it did was open this wonderful world of awesome vampire men to me. I also found out that while I was growing up and my mom was reading she was reading vampire books and anything that had to do with the super natural .I just go and raid her library when i want to start a new series. She has everything, she has been reading them for 30 some years so i am really lucky. She also started me on the sookie series when i finally told her i was able to move past Edward.I also read Mary Janice Davidson (Betsy & Sinclair)Christine Feehan which she is a phenomenal author all her series are good.Christine Warren, Susan Sizemore,Jeanine Frost( i named my dog after Bones one of the most sexiest vamps.)Katie Macalister,so many I have now read and i love them, my mom keeps trying to get me to read other kinds of books but right now I love reading Vampire book.I get all my friends hooked on them and I love it when they borrow books and read the series.Anyway I always thought it would be cool to have a sight where you could put what you thought about the books and find out what other people thought.you have done that. I like it, so congrats on your web page.
Like you, I am an AVID reader… I was hooked on J.D. Robb’s “In Death” series… Eve Dallas is a homicide detective living in the year 2057, these books are addictive and wonderful.. her irish husband, Roarke is a retired bad guy who is now the richest man in the world… anyway… After reading Twilight I am interested in the “vampire romance” novels… so thank you for the recommendations… I was also wondering.. do you have a kindle, or do you read paper? I am beginning to rack up the $$$ buying books and was wondering if there was an alternative?? Thanks Again, MAGGIE*
Hi everybody! I’m a little late to the party but I am giving a huge yes to everything mentioned. I have put a big bite in almost every author mentioned, although I did pick up a few new ones OR I have completely blown through everything they have written. I can 100% back Kim Harrison, MaryJanice Davidson, Charlaine Harris, Laurell K Hamilton, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and give a strong thumbs up to mmost of the others. I was SOOO HAPPY to see that someone else mentioned JD Robb, she is not supernatural but a truly great read. Also want to throw out Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie PLum series, it is laugh out loud funny, similar to Queen Betsy but no supernatural. Right down to two hunky men, crazy side kicks, and a lead with an interesting view point. If you run out of sup reads and need to fill some time, try out one of these, you may find a way to gently pull away from sexy vamps. Thanks for all of the suggestions!! Keep em coming!1
Hi Tanya! Thanks for the suggestions. My friend Lily is also enjoying the Plum series, and I’ve been told so many times that it’s very good. So you say there’s a love triangle huh? Well that’ll work for me
Great reads, I love all of them. The Night Huntress series and Black Dagger Brotherhood are my favorites. Also, Richelle Mead’s Succubus series (adult) is great. And how about the werewolf books? Carrie Vaughn’s Kitty Norville Series, Rachel Vincent’s “Shifter” series, Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson series are among the best.
To Maggie the alternative i have found in my town is a paperback book exchange. I can get new and used books. i once bought a dark hunter book for 2.60. it was great! I can just keep trading or keep the books i really like. Good Luck!!
I have been hooked on paranormal romance for years and I have a big recommendation for an author whose books have been consistently overlooked, Gerry Bartlett, author of the Real Vampire series. Super funny books, action and awesome love scenes. Maggie- I started using the swap website swaptree.com about a year ago and love it! You only pay for postage and swap books that you don’t want anymore for other traders books that you are dying to read. I read about a book or two a week, so I always need new books, but can’t afford to always pop out and buy a new one. Try this site, you’ll love it.
Thanks for all the recommendations. I’m a huge Twilight fan but after reading the books for the second time I really needed a new story line. I found the Argeneau series from Lynsay Sands and have really enjoyed all of them. There all funny, exciting and romantic. The theory behind where vampires originated is interesting too, first time I’ve ever heard that idea. If you’re looking for a new series to start I highly recommand these books
Oops, my daughter the english major will have a fit over this mistake. In talking about the Aregeneau series they’re funny not there funny.
I am an avid reader.. I read a new book almost every day if I can push it in my budget, and after reading twilight I went on a paranormal binge myself. I just wanted to mention some you didn’t list, but were mention-worthy. Maybe you’ve read some? I am curious to hear your input. (Oh, and I apologize in advance because I am SURE this will be a lengthy comment)
I noticed you don’t have anything from P.C. Cast up here (LOVE P.C. Cast myself). Her Goddess Summoning series is full of juicy romance.. Not Vampire romance, but still paranormal. It’s an adult series, but it’s high on the romance.
Another is the Divine series from P.C. Cast as well, I cried my eyes out in these, they’re adult, but she introduces some young adult from the partholon series that are linked to the partholon world from the Divine series.
Masters of Time series by Brenda Joyce. Yum! (Again.. adult, but high on the romance for sure!)
For some teen appropriate and vampirically inclined, there’s the House of Night series from PC cast. P.C. Cast also teamed up with some of our favorite authors to release a collection of short stories called Immortal: Love Stories with Bite, and that’s a definite must read, I have read that there is a second book to that called Eternal: More Love Stories with Bite and I have been wanting to pick it up.
Or the Evernight series from Claudia Gray. It’s a pretty good series too.
Also, I am currently reading Morganville Vampires from Rachel Caine, and I am starting to get into it, it wasn’t an instant hook, but it’s slowly getting better.
L.J. Smith is another great one.. I LOVED the Night World series, and Vampire Diaries was OK, not my favorite, but good. She has a short series called Dark Visions, and it was a great series with a different take on vampires. Secret Circle and Forbidden Game were decent series as well..
Also, I loved The Immortals series from Alyson Noel. (Immortals, not vampires) That series can go up fairly high on the list.
And last but not least, Fallen, by Lauren Kate looks to be quite promising… I can’t wait to see how it progresses.
I left out just one other series.. Thirst from Christopher Pike.. It was better than expected and the ending made me cry.
An excellent post Monique – Thank you!! Lots of great recommendations here, and I’m glad that you gave little hints about what we’d be getting (romance, adult or young adult).
I have a love/hate relationship with books that make me cry! hahah (I love them, because a book that can pull that kind of emotion from you must be good – and well the “hate” part is obvious) haha!
So P.C. Cast is really good huh? I have a the first in the Goddess Summoning series so maybe I’ll get to that one shortly
Just want to put in my vote for Karin Marie Moning’s Highlander/Fever series. I am a voracious reader with no patience for trite or lazy writing. Many of the paranormal series I have tested don’t pass my threshold (but Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight definitely did). Then I started reading the Fever series, which left me panting for the next. Later I read Moning’s Highlander books and realized they are foreplay for Fever. Recommend reading the Highlander from beginning to end, and then jump [with pleasure] into Darkfever. The Highlanders really are a progression that helps set the table for Fever. Last book in series (Shadowfever) will be out in January 2011. Fever’s Jericho Barrons is one of the sexiest and most mysterious characters I have found. Better yet, Darkfever is a movie and trailer is available on Youtube. Can’t wait.
Agreed!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE the Fever series. I did it in reverse though. I started with the Fever series, and right now I’m heading into book #4 of the Highlanders.
Ugh, I know what you mean about the love/hate relationships with the books that make you cry. I can’t seem to make myself cry about anything important in RL, but nosed up in a book, I will ball like a baby, it’s ridiculous. Same with movies.
Oh yes, I love P.C. Cast myself.. And I hope you love the Goddess Summoning series, I enjoyed them!
Hey Monique – have you read “The Host” yet? If you’re in the mood for a good cry…READ THAT!!!
I cried and cried, and had to put the book away. I watched a comedy, felt much better and was ready to get back to my book. The minute I started reading I starting sobbing again!
My husband was bewildered….
Oh yes.. I read The Host, and I cried my eyes out too. Don’t feel bad, lol! I heard rumor that they might make The Host into a movie. I think it would make an excellent movie. I also hear rumor that she’s going to make it a series! But then again.. rumors..
The Divine series from P.C. Cast is a tear jerker, particularly “Divine By Blood” I cried SOOO hard! And it’s the first chapter that gets you!
Ooooooh!!! I gotta read it! What is WRONG with me? LOL!!
“Ooooooh!!! I gotta read it!” directly translates to “Ooooooh!!! I gotta find a reason to make myself ball like a baby!” LOL! I, too, am guilty!
Maybe we are crazy! But we’re having a good time being crazy!
have been on the supernatural/ Vampire kick ever since Twilight!
Monique & Maryse: I am w/you on PC CAST!!! She is my favorite.. the HOUSE OF NIGHT SERIES is absolutely awesome!!! I’m waiting on the last book… I’m getting ready to read the Goddess series. I absolutely love Richelle Meade: Vampire Academy, but I really love the Succubus series! Christopher Pike: Thirst 1 & 2 is good, hard to get into, but good… Monique could you hint to me what happened in the last of Thirst 2 please? I didn’t get a chance to finish the last 2 chps had to be back at library. Thx.
I am also getting ready to read the Kim Harrison the Witch series, hope its good. I am now reading LA Banks: Vampire Huntress Series… its good, but I am trying to find something more like House of Night series or Vampire Academy…
I’ve read the first book in the Immortal Series: Allyson Noel & really liked it.. I need to get Blue Moon, next.. also the Morganville Vampires.. I’m w/you on that.. was hard to get into, but now I want to read more!
There are so many out there, that I feel like my head is gonna spin off my shoulders! LOL.. I believe that I will go on to the Goddess Summoning series by PC Cast next… sounds very interesting! Although, Highlanders sound great… uggh, I need a KINDLE or something!
See what I mean… I ramble on, b/c all these books are awesome!!! I haven’t found an author so far that I don’t like… The only one I thought was slow was honestly Christopher Pike; however, the series Thirst began picking up…
I am going to have to sit down & go back through here & make a list, then type it up, so when I’m out then I can pick these books up!
thanks everyone for the wonderful posts & recommendations for Supernatural/ Paranormal/ Vampire/ Romance/ Immortal series….
OMG, I CAN’T BELIEVE NO ONE HAS MENTIONED CASSANDRA CLARE W/THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS SERIES, CITY OF BONES, CITY OF ASHES, & CITY OF GLASS! SO FAR THESE ARE THE ONLY THREE; HOWEVER, I JUST FOUND OUT THE FOURTH BOOK WILL BE OUT DEC 2010!! SHE HAS 2 MORE BOOKS SCHEDULED AFTER THAT!!! CHECK THESE BOOKS OUT…
ITS ABOUT THIS GIRL NAMED CLARY & SHE DOESN’T KNOW SHE POSSESSES POWERS LIKE A BOUNTY HUNTER STYLE… NO VAMPIRES… MORE LIKE EVIL SPIRITS, IMMORTALS… ETC… PLEAE CHECK THEM OUT THEY WERE ON THE TOP OF MY LIST TO READ!! I POSTED WEBSITE BELOW TO HELP YOU OUT!
http://www.mortalinstruments.com/
ONE LAST THING MORTAL INSTRUMENTS… IT DOES CONSISTS OF VAMPIRES (TYPO EARLIER THINKING OF ANOTHER SERIES); HOWEVER, ITS MORE LIKE SHADOW HUNTERS, DOWN WORLDERS STYLE… SORRY FOR TYPO & ALL OF MY LONG POSTS!
AMY: Thank you so much, I used the swaptree.com & am receiving Goddess of Sea for $2.38, cheaper than a used bookstore!
I can’t believe that Gena Showalter The Lords of the Underworld series hasn’t been mentioned!! It’s great!!! I’m reading the latest book in the series now.
Hi,
Nice recommendations. Yes, Karen Marie Moning is of my favorite series. I read twilight first like many people and had to find books that were similar. Now, I’ve read everything from sookie stackhouse to the blackdagger. I have however expanded and evolved as a reader and started reading many different urban fantasy books other than just “vampire books”. I started looking for books that were unique and addicting. I thank Stepahnie Meyer for opening me up to this wonderful genre I didn’t know could hold so many promises!! We have similar tatste in books, but there are some that I adore that are not on your list so I’ll throw them out there.
Ilona Andrew’s magic series is extremely good! I don’t know if you’ve heard of her, but I was very surprised not to see her on your list! There’s probably no space to talk about each book or author (lol)so i’ll just list them below.
Ilona Andrew’s magic series
Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series
Karen chance cassie palmer and Dorina Basarab series
Faith Hunter’s Jane yellowrock series
Vicki Peterson’s sign of the zodiac series
Jennifer Estep’s Elemental assasin
Molly Harper’s Jane Jameson series
Kat Richardson’s Greywalker series.
Hope you like them. There are a couple on your list that I haven’t read so I have to check them out. I’ve Sherrilyn Kenyon I’ve heard of, but never tried. I think it’s about time
Have a good one!
Thanks Meeh!!
I was actually recommended Ilona’s series this week (her latest one). Have you read Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts yet? Oh you’ll love it I’m sure!!!! It’s my favorite this year (along with Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series)
Wow! I just looked up the author you recommended and the book is right up my alley. Thanks! I added it on my to buy list. If you compared it to the fever series then it must be very good. Ilona Andrew’s latest series is the edge and the one I was talking about is the magic series. I have bought the edge(her latest one), but I still have it on my “to read” pile. Thank you again. BTW, Good job on your site, recommendations, and reviews. This is a lot of work! You should be paid for it!!
I just started the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning & absolutely love them!! I am also reading Kim Harrison’s (The Hollow Series).. Dead Witch Walking is the first one… these are absolutely wonderful too.. very similar to the Fever series in some aspects! Great recommendations Meeh! You ought to try Cassandra Clare w/the Mortal Instruments series.. these are awesome!
I love this website and I am so happy I found it! I started on the Twilight books and then someone told me to start the True Blood books. I have read the first 4 and I am now trying to figure out how to get the series on Netflix. I have also read the JD Robb “In Death” series and I can’t wait for the next installment of that!
I just wanted to mention that I get my books from thriftbooks.com. They are used books and they have free shipping. I couldnt find alot of the books I wanted to read at my local used book store and I refused to pay more for shipping than I would for the book. Thriftbooks is awesome and they ALWAYS (so far, fingers crossed) have what I want in stock. Now the free shipping is great but it does take between 5-7 days to get them once they leave the store. I then take them to my local used book store for credit on other books they do have.
Hi Jennifer!!
Thanks so much for the recommendation
Nina Bangs has The Castle of Dark Dreams it is paranormal and is great she has a few others that I have yet to read but am getting there if life would just let me sit and read sometimes I would be a happy woman
OH oH there is also the patrica briggs Mercy Thompson books to the are wolf books but where would Twilight be if not for the most loveale wolf Jake xx
I can’t believe it took me this long to find you!!! I read through the Twilight series (more than once) and didn’t know where to go from there… Tried the Stackhouse series… BUT… since I watch the show – the damage had been done – it just didn’t translate well… I’ve always been a sci-fi (Stephen King) fan… but now… a whole new genre awaits me… Read through the Blue Blood series in a week (waiting for my NookColor for the next book) and am currently knee deep in the Vampire Academy series… Cried like a little girl – Thank you Dimitri! So… after reading through your site – I don’t know where to go from here… Help!
I love this website!!! Thank you for having this. I just finished with Lauren Kate Fallen. I loved it, can’t wait to read the second one. One of my all time favorites is Jeannie Frost!!!! I can read her books over and over. I also recommended Yasmine Galenorn, PC Cast, Alson Noel, Richelle Mead & Adrian Phoenix.
I just picked up LJ Smith Vampire Diaries….
IS there a good website to pick up books for cheap?
Hi Jenn!! Thanks for coming
I love the majority of the author’s you’ve mentionned, and am anxious to start on Yasmine Galenorn’s and Alyson Noel’s! I hear the Immortals series is really good.
Hi I just have to say that I am very shocked at all the books out there in the world. See I am 22yr old mom of two and a wife to a soldier. So as you can imagine I am never alone or never have free time to sit and read. Except at night. Well I used to read books when I was little and then I stopped but when I heard about twilight saga, I wasn’t very interested… My younger cousin was wanting the books and yeah.. Not I. The movie came out and we seen it and I wasn’t into it really, until the newmoon movie came out and I bought it and watched it, then bought twilight movie and watched them both in order. well in new moon it leaves you hanging alot, so I wentout and bought eclipse the book and read it then breaking dawn then twilight then new moon and then I read the first 12 chptrs of midnight sun. I wish so much that I had read the books first (in order) then the movies. But I keep finding my self watching the 3 movies of twilight I have and then reading breaking dawn, all this at least twice a month.. I guess you can say I am addicted. I can be on the computer (back to the tv) and say every line word for word to the movies. I realized I was getting nowhere with twilight saga except being mad that there was no more books to read in the saga. So I was looking for the vampire love adventure novels, and I came across “the night world”. I bought the first book about a month ago, but just now started to read it and I am very hooked on it.. I was afraid that wasn’t going to be anything like twilight at all, but it is very close to the saga. So now I am so addicted to the immortal world with the love triangles and the secrets and law breaking adventures, That i seem to have to have these things in my life. I feel like a teenage boy who is so obsessed with the video games. But I am glad that there are other books out there that has something close to the twilight, it has eased my impatience. But for my My first and only love will be The Twilight Saga, I wish she would write more. I would love to know the future of the cullens and the werewolf packs. and Especially Renesmee and jacob. But I am So Hooked on Edward. And this is weird to say, But once i started reading the books of twilight saga I realized that my husband is basically my Edward and I am Bella. He has very pale skin (because his mom is a Redhead)even though he is always in the sunlight and should have a tan, but it never darkens him, and he has light brown hair when long, but when it is cut for military it is red Like edwards, And his eyes are Orange, sometimes light brown But even random ppl have argued that his eyes are orange/red. and Of course I am a natural brown Haired girl with highlights and I am very very stubborn.. So My love for twilight is oh so true, But it is just disappointing that There is no more to read after breaking dawn. So I will take the recommendations above and try to Suffice. =(.
Ok next, Brandi, since you love Twilight so much, I think Vampire Academy would suit you nicely. Love that series, and there is still one more book to come!
Thanks, I am actually kinda gettin hooked on night world. I just finished the first book, and I was so hooked on ash and marylynnette, that i read the other (unfinushed) part of their story. But Im the Kind of person that really dont want to read unless I know it will drag me in and take me along in the story. I will sit in walmart and grab a book and read the first page and put it back(like dear john) I loved the movie but not the book. I will read the vampire academy, And i will tell you how if i like it. thanks
hello, love this site, i just finished all the Sherrylon Kenyon books, im a speed reader, so now i need a new romantic paranormal series, with LOTS of books in it!!! please recommend a series for me. thanks
My first “next” choice for you – Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward – one of my favorites without a doubt! Anyone else have a recommendation?
I just got done with Yasmine Galenorn Night Myst. I loved it. The next book in this series does not come out until next Summer. I have read of few of her Otherworld Series they were good but I enjoyed her new Night Series better.
I am going to start Karen Marie Moning over the weekend.
I love J.R.Ward the Black Dagger Brotherhood most of all, Sherrylon Kenyon really enjoyed her books. Karen Marie Moning’s series are also great!! I love your site and will definitely be reading many of your recommendations
P.S. Also loved the Hunger Games series.. highly recommended by Stephanie Meyer.
thank you so much for this website. i love it!!! your recommendations are amazing, and 9 times out of 10 i agree with your book reviews (i read them after i finish the book). i started with Twilight, then moved on to Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunters, Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse series, then Laurell K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake and Merry Gentry. After reading all those series, i found your website and was introduced to Lynsay Sands’s Argeneau family, Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress, Kathy Love’s Bourbon Street Vampires, and JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. Of all those books, my favorites are The Dark Hunters, The Night Huntress, The Brotherhood, and The Argeneau’s. I feel like I have read everything. Can you recommend any more series?
Yup sure can! My three obsessions this year were:
Vampire Academy

I love JR Ward Black dagger brother hood is just awesome!!!! I actuallylike her new one as well the fallen Angel series. I am now reading Sherrilyn Kenyon and highly recommend those. Have fun reading!!!!!
I just came across this blog when I was searching for a new series to read and thought what an amazing idea you have to help people out after the twilight depression sets in lol. I was shocked so many people went thru the same thing! I figured I should help out as well so I am going to post all the series I have read and love and maybe help out the next person. All the series I’ve read are for adults. I know Twilight is for teens but when I tried to read any of the other young adult vampire series I couldn’t get into them. So here are my favorites..I’ll list them from my favorite to my least favorite.
ANITA BLAKE SERIES by Laurell K Hamilton
MERRY GENTRY SERIES by Laurell K Hamilton
THE HALLOWS/RACHAEL MORGAN by Kim Harrison
SOOKIE STACKHOUSE by Charlaine Harris
