- Around The Bend by Britney King <— Nancy found out that this one is only and I read this one! It was good! (my review)
- The Lost: A Crow City Novel by Cole McCade <— DARK READ ALERT! Nancy found out this one is on sale too and I know a few here really enjoyed it!!
<— First: OH YAY!!! One of my favorites is on sale today (and I MEAN ROCK-BOTTOM big huge sale price!) I INSIST you read this. I INSIST!!!! Don’t even bother with putting it on your TBR list.. just start it. RIGHT NOW! 😛
Oh AND!!!! Happy FRIDAY FINDS DAY my friends!!! Actually just the fact that it’s Friday makes this day already awesome, but the book-finds below will make our weekends, I am SURE of it! In fact, that one to the left is not the only mega-sale (and quite a few tremor-inducing dark ones, too). Plus the latest reader recommendations and next week’s pre-orders and I’m finishing ONE right now, so I’ll have my review up when it goes live!!!
Okay and… we just found a HUGE Kindle FIRE sale (all the new ones going live on September 30th, but they are up for pre-order now, AND one of ’em… A KINDLE FIRE!!!! will release at less than $50!!!!)… which coincides perfectly with Aimee’s question and “help” request, today: ——->
Aimee: Just wondering if anyone would recommend which kindle I should buy. I’ve always had the very basic one which requires a clip on light and isn’t touch screen but am thinking of treating myself to an upgrade as a built in light sounds great. I’m just not sure. which to go for. Thanks for any suggestions 😀
Lauren: I started with the same, only the basic Nook instead of Kindle. I upgraded a year later & I didn’t realize how much I needed the light until I got it. I love that I can check my emails on it, Netflix, Google etc…. My kids all have Kindle Fires & they love them. They take them to school & can look stuff up (still needs WiFi connection, though) & they can even get textbooks thru Amazon & download right into their library. I just love being able to read at night, which I couldn’t do with the basic Nook.
Maryse: Ohhhh!!! Well… since we’re on this very topic… Look what Sherry found us! A new Kindle Fire, 7″ Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black is releasing on September 30th, but is up for pre-order and OMG the price is AMAZING!! Actually, it looks like every “Kindle Fire” is getting an update!
Angie: Great deal!
Maryse: I know it’s crazy! I just went back and they’re releasing their whole new line of Fires, and thin-fires and fire sticks… 😛 *snort*
Joanne: I’ve already got 3 but I want this one as well x
Lisa: Oh I’d love one gasp
Rachel: Does anyone have these for their kids? I want to get one to help with homeschool but I heard the 8gb just isn’t that great because of the memory… But with an SD card can you still play games, and read tons of books?
Maryse: Ohhhh good question! I wanna know, too…
Diane: My kids each have one (originally mine to read on lol but stolen for minecraft) 8 GB is very little, you have about 4 GB to play around with which is nothing, 16 is much better
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )
EBOOK BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
- Tattooed Emotions (Tattooed Billionaire Series Book 1) by Alicia Rae <— JUST RELEASED!! “Raelyn has worked with Damien’s company, Heathman Enterprises, for many years, but they’ve never crossed paths—until now…”
- Indecent Cravings: Part Four (The Indecent Cravings Series Book 4) by S.K. Cross <— JUST RELEASED!!
- Tempt by K.I. Lynn <— JUST RELEASED!!
- It’s Still Complicated by <— JUST RELEASED and possibly a second chance romance read? I like the sound of it, anyway… “She has moved on but I didn’t. We both are unhappy without each other but still, we cannot meet. She still cares, she still loves me, but she is still angry with me for what I did. And we don’t seem to have the strength to come back to what we had.“
- My Coyote Ugly Life (My Life Series Book 1) by Jessica Spoon <— KA FEEL ALERT!! Fiona recommends this one! “There are a couple of good books that I have come across lately that I would really recommend; they contain alpha males, good sassy heroines, storylines that really keep you engrossed. They have a kind of KA feel to them; hence why I am a fan. I think they are from fairly new authors. Its “Hyde & Seek” by Layla Frost & My Coyote Ugly Life by Jessica Spoon (which is very funny also & the heroine has a bit of a crazy family and an interfering mother which is a good laugh!)”
- Pieces of Autumn by Mara Black <— DARK READ ALERT! Nancy found us a few, and says: “I had quite a few books on my Wish List go on sale, so thought I would share… Have not read any, but love bargains.” and yep… wow… she wishes she could say she was “kidnapped” against her will so we would understand but… “What really happened? I walked to my fate with my eyes wide open. But before you say I deserved whatever happened to me, you should know. I was desperate. I was alone. I was afraid for my life. You would have done the same thing. I thought things couldn’t possibly get any worse. But then, I woke up in darkness, unable to move. There was only one thing I was sure of: I wasn’t alone anymore.“
- Transcending Darkness by Airicka Phoenix <— ANOTHER DARK-SOUNDING ONE that Nancy found us! “I just picked up TRANSCENDING DARKNESS by Airicka Phoenix for 99 cents & it got pushed up on my endless TBR list. Maryse it is 506 pages, 4.8*, and just read the blurb.” Lauren said: “I read Transcending Darkness last weekend & loved it!!” YES! This sounds awesome! She’s paying a debt that wasn’t hers to pay.. “Juliette Romero had a debt to pay, a debt that wasn’t even hers. But it was the only way to keep her family safe and all she had to do was sell her body and soul to the devil… When given the choice between her life or her body, what could Juliette possibly do, but submit to a man whose very name invoked fear in the hearts of others? She just never anticipated falling for his dark, hungry eyes and clever hands, or the way the beast in him made her feel oddly safe and cherished.“
- Stay: A Dark Romance Novel by Chelsea Camaron <— MORE DARK!! Just the cover alone gave me shivers… and OMG THE BLURB!!! *gasp*!! “He is a hit man, the very one who took my family the night that changed us both forever. Something in my eyes stopped him from killing me. Something in my eyes called out for him to take me. At ten, he captured me. At fifteen, he consumed me. And at eighteen, he owned me. Outsiders think he’s my father … That is so far from the truth…“
- Love Hurts (Caged Love Book 1) by Mandi Beck <— FIGHTER IN LOVE WITH HIS BEST GIRL FRIEND ALERT!!! and Lauren HIGHLY recommends it! “Love Hurts by Mandi Beck First time on sale!! It is my #1 favorite book so far this year…& I read A LOT of books!!!”
- Very Twisted Things: Standalone New Adult (Briarcrest Academy Book 3) by Ilsa Madden-Mills <— PEEPING TOM ALERT!! Jean realized that yesterday’s “Reader Question” book is also on sale right now! How cool is that?!! AND it can be read as a standalone! “A sassy violinist who lives next door. An obsessed rock star who watches her through binoculars.“
- Wild Reckless by Ginger Scott <—- OMG!!!! ONE OF MY FAVORITES AND MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION TODAY!!! It is on sale (here’s my review, you’ll see). :D!!!!
- Savaged by Nacole Stayton <— RECLUSE ALERT! Nancy also found us this one!! And this was one that Lauren loved! “Up all night reading Savaged. Sooooo good!” A bit from the blurb: “Despite years of self-imposed solitude, Niko hungers for companionship and suffers from an aching loneliness that the darkness cannot satisfy. He temporarily soothes his pain with women, hired women…”
- Wife 22: A Novel by Melanie Gideon <— IF YOU LOVED “AFTER I DO” ALERT!! Sharee has one for us!!! “I just read Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon and loved it! It’s a couple years old…. Blurb: Alice has been married to her husband, William, for twenty years. Though she can still remember the first time they met like it was yesterday, these days she finds herself posting things on Facebook that she used to confide to him. So when she’s invited to participate in an anonymous online survey on marriage and love, she finds that all her longings come pouring out as she dutifully answers questions under the name “Wife 22.” She finds herself trying to not e-flirt with the researcher. If you loved After I do, then you’ll love this” AND I LOVED “After I Do” BIG TIME!!!! YAY ME!!!!
- Friction by L.D. Davis <— SHE’S DRAGGED TO A ROCK CONCERT ALERT!!! Cynthia has a rock star one for us!!! “Maryse- I recently read Friction by LD Davis. Amazing fun read. Alden was really hot. I had to read it twice- I liked it so much. He’s a rockstar and she’s a girl who got dragged by a friend to one of his concerts. She gets injured and he saves her. She is so unimpressed by him. I loved it! He’s intrigued by her and it just goes from there.,,” It sounds delightful!!
- Aisling Grey Series by Katie MacAllister <— FUNNY & SEXY ALERT! Tessa recommends these! “Aisling Grey series by Katie MacAllister. Funny and sexy. I don’t remember if there is full steam in the first book, but there is definite heat, and tons of humor.”
- Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones <— IF YOU DON’T READ IT YOUR LIFE IS INCOMPLETE ALERT!! Nakina brings this series back to the forefront (this one HAS been on my TBR list for far too long and I know everyone that reads them loves them like crazy. She says: “If there are any readers out there who have not read the Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones…then your life is incomplete. Ive tried to force all my friends and family to read them but they are allergic to anything that comes on paper i guess lol You’ll thank me i promise…“
- Still the One (An Animal Magnetism Novel Book 6) by Jill Shalvis <— On super-sale today and it sounds sweet and lighthearted! A Navy vet…
- Infinity + One by Amy Harmon <— ONE OF OUR FAVORITE AUTHORS ALERT!!! Nancy HIGHLY recommends it! “I read Infinity + One & absolutely loved it. I t was one of my top 3 books so far this year. I reviewed it & gave 5*. My favorite books are with mismatched odd couples that you never see how it will work.” and Zara agrees! “Oh my god. I just finished Infinity + One and I want to go in a time machine back to this morning and read it all over again. Soooo good. Easily my favourite book of 2014. Gah.” Jillian, too! “I am 80% through Infinity + One and this book is magic. I started it today and will finish it today as well. Just like her other books, it has me spellbound. I didn’t think I could love anything as much as I loved Making Faces (I’ve re-read it twice now) but this one is just as good. I can’t even explain. These are the books I long for. Ones that touch my heart. I hope everyone reads it and enjoys it as much as I have thus far.”
- If She Only Knew (San Francisco series Book 1) by Lisa Jackson <— FIXED FACE AND AMNESIA ALERT! The cover sort of has a retro feel to it, but the story sounds great and it’s on super-sale today. “Not only has Marla Cahill survived a deadly car accident, but her beautiful features have been restored through plastic surgery. She should be grateful. Instead, she’s consumed by confusion. . .and panic. For the people gathered at her bedside–her family–are strangers. And so is the woman whose haunted eyes stare back from the mirror. . .“
- Between Before and After by Amanda Dick <— Kindle Countdown but it’s going to end VERY soon!
-
And for AUDIOBOOK LOVERS
For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free ebooks deal —>
- AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as AUDIOBOOKS AT A BARGAIN-PRICE!<—Audiobooks for ebook super-sale prices. I’m thrilled with that, and what’s fun is you can flip flop from reading it, to listening to it without losing your spot… This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL! (This is the “Whispersync” thingie).
- One for the Money: A Stephanie Plum Novel, Book 1 by Janet Evanovich <— Daniela recommends the entire series in audiobook! “Just discovered this series in audiobook format from my public library! Love love love! So funny listening while I drive to work.” AND!!! They are part of the awesome “Whispersync” system (cheaper audiobooks if you already have the ebook).
- Until the End of the World by Sarah Lyons Fleming <— And Rosie recommends THIS series: “I only recently found these books via audiobooks and I was hooked from the start. It was so good to come across some really good post apocalypse / zoombie books as there are lots of not so good ones out there. I actually found them when I was looking for something free to listen too, I came across the novella. Even though I saw the risks of spoilers I thought ah lets do it. I am so glad I did as it got me well and truly hooked!”
- Ready Player One by Ernest Cline <— DYSTOPIAN! Sheri loves THIS one in audiobook format! “Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Wil Wheaton reads the audiobook and is AMAZING!!! I struggled to get into this book when I read it but when I listened to it I could NOT STOP!!! 5 stars on my Goodreads list!“
- Sweet as Sin: Bad Habit, Book 1 by JT Geissinger <— And Narda recommends us to listen to this one! “Just wondering if you have read or listened to Sweet as Sin by JT Geissinger. I found it a great listen, I don’t read much mainly listen on audio cause I do a bit of driving.”
- Skinwalker: Jane Yellowrock, Book 1 by Faith Hunter <— Denise recommends THESE in audiobook! “My all-time favorite series in the urban fantasy genre is…The Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter. This series is a must. The first book is Skinwalker. It can be dark at times, but Jane/Beast can get into funny situations. This series is also on Audible and Whispersync on Amazon. For those who don’t know what Whispersync is, you buy the Kindle book for whatever price is listed, and you can get the audio at a discount. I bought Skinwalker and got the audio from Audible… The narrator for the series is the awesome Khristine Hvam. In book one she seems to me like she is trying to find the best voice for Beast, but by book 2 she has it. Her switch from voice to voice, character to character seems effortless. I get the most out of books if I read along as I listen. Try it out, and check put Faith Hunter’s books. She is the best!“

I just read Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon and loved it! It’s a couple years old, but only 1.99.
If you loved After I do, then you’ll love this
YAY!!!! Thank you SO much Sharee!!! Okay I’m adding it, this sounds amazing!!
I just read Pushing The Limits by Brooke Cumberland and loooooved it. Slow burn, angsty, student teacher romance. Both are suffering from losses in their lives but find comfort with each other. I especially live how the heroine’s anxiety issues were treated. I hate when a character has a panic attack and then it’s all over with and never mentioned again. (I know, I’m being picky.) This character had some pretty severe issues related to her earlier trauma and I love that they weren’t just swept under the rug. And the Hero . . . such a nice guy but WHOA when he gets in the bedroom he’s a dirty talker. I love that!
Lots of good ones above! I don’t even know where to start!
I can’t wait for After You. I know it probably won’t have the *oomph* that MBY had, but to be back in Lou’s world with her crazy awesome family (I seriously loved them, flaws and all) is going to be GREAT! 😀
I am so consumed right now with The Badger. Not even kidding. I’m at 70%, and I went in blind apart from the blurb so I don’t really know where things are going…and I *love* that, even if it is making a mess of me. I’m loving everything about this book. How, HOW has this book been out since August 31 and it only has 3 reviews?!?
Very Twisted Things was funny. I smiled through it. I think I love the quote after the Charlie Davidson’s book. I laughed out loud reading that one. I didn’t realize that Fear Us was already up for pre-order! MINE! *grins* It’s not about evil Kellan, it’s about his jerk of a best friend. I hope the heroine makes him SUFFER!!! Maybe take a knife to his… stuffs. Seriously, he deserves that and more.
I got Wild and Reckless! That good, huh? I think I’ll read it. The Immortal Rules is good, but I think I need a non PNR type.
Amy, three words. Lack of advertisment. So many good books are out there, but no one can find them in the millions of books available. Maybe you’ll get the author some much needed attention. 🙂
😯 *races to Amazon to look up The Badger*
UGH TESSA!!!! HIS BEST FRIEND..
UGH!!!!!!!!
LOL!!!!!! 😛
Can you tell how fond I was of him?
OHHHH YESSSSS!!!
I knew that one sounded familiar… Cara McKenna’s new “name” and new style… he’s the vigilante super-hero.
OMG THAT SOUNDS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!
*happy dance*
Stay sounds so scary, so good!
I still have about 30% to go so I can’t give it a complete endorsement (yet!) but if it continues to be as great as it has been then it will definitely be a YOU-NEED-TO-READ-THIS-NOW-MARYSE book!!!!
And is that Cara McKenna as in the Cara McKenna of After Hours??
Yes ma’am!!!! 😀 The one and only!
Fabi, I know… I’m so intrigued.
Ummm… *mumbles* Istillhaven’treadAfterHours.
*dives in blankie cave to hide from incoming peanuts*
See! The heroine is the biggest surprise. She’s has gotta eviscerate him.
Fragile sounds good! 😉 Thanks for recommending it. “She gets injured and he saves her”. I LOVE books like that 😀
*gasp* I ment Friction… 😉
Oh my. Amy.
*shakes heads and ducks her own peanut-hail-storm*
*snort* 😛
OMG Owen! I want to punch him. Throw his basketball away. UGH.
1-clicked Wild Reckless and Very Twisted Things!
I’m also reading Badger and really liking it so far! I was wondering the same thing about the reviews Amy. I did read After Hours and loved that book!
punch him in the basketball(s) Tessa!!!! 😛
My kids can’t function without their Kindles. Not just for the books but for Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, DirecTv, tons of apps, & email. They take em to school & email me because cell phones aren’t allowed in class (such rebellious kids, huh?). My 14yr old even has one of his textbooks downloaded to his library. Summer reading books are easier to find & read (not sure if any other parent has had to race to Barnes & Noble for Lord of the Flies at 9:45pm the night before the test on it). It’s just as good as an iPad, just a lot cheaper so you don’t freak out every time your kid leaves the house with it.
Anyone who hasn’t read Love Hurts…..please please read it!!!! It was one of THOSE books for me. I couldn’t fathom reading another book after I finished it. I stalked the author & found hundreds of other readers in the same boat I was in. Just couldn’t stop thinking about it. Oh, how I love Deacon….he does this thing where he flips Frankie’s wrist & kisses the inside, he’s done it since they were kids & it just melts my heart every time. It’s not an ugly cry book, just really, really awesome.
Hey guys!! I’ve been a little MIA. I haven’t been reading much. Don’t know why. The last book I read was The Affiliate which I really liked! Can’t wait for the next one.
I went to a Zumba class yesterday and my legs hurt so much lol! Taking it easy for a few days.
Tattoed Emotions sounds good!! Maybe that’s my next read.
Just finished The Badger.
*blink*
I can’t…it was…
F**************ck.
“Some anonymous a$$hole had shot a hole through my safe place’s head and skull-f*cked the security right out of it.” <——– A line from The Badger and pretty much what it did to me. Five stars, easy. I need a drink now.
Maybe I’ll read Love Hurts since book 2 is coming out Monday. I love friends to lovers stories 🙂
Badger scares me a little from reviews on GR! But I do love her writing.
Maryse… there’s a Charley Davidson book (novella?) coming out Oct 13 from Reyes’ POV for the fans like me out there (Brighter than the sun)
I’ve been on a Sandra Brown romantic suspense binge, good stuff!!! LOVED Lethal and Slow heat in heaven (which is like 20 yrs old!!!) Some good dirty talking bad boys
Oh sh!t Amy, I am only at 25%. I must say I love your reaction though!!! Makes me excited to see what I’m in for……
I’m telling ya, Jean…it’s not one of those you just set down and move on to the next book. We’re supposed to meet up with some friends soon to eat. *snort* I think I’ll be a little distracted. 😕
Oh, and just a heads up that there is an ew-ew-EWWWWWW scene a la James Cavendish and the red tide. You’ve been warned. 😛
OMG I wanna read it bad now. BAD!!!!!
Diane! I actually just added it to the reading order, but maybe I forgot to put it on the main list. I’m gonna check. 🙂
Oh wow, Anne… what is it called? Is it up for pre-order yet?
Oooo the new kindle tablets and the sd cards finallllllyyyyyy! Really excited for more room for my books 😀
Well I’m very intrigued by The Badger. I would have never looked twice at it Amy honestly. If it got that reaction though, I might have to check this out!
Maryse this is book 2: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/25402027-love-burns?from_search=true&search_version=service
Its not up for pre order but on GR says publication date September 21st.
Hey all… Amy , you lending The Badger out? Because you’ve sold me on it…and I am on a severe book restriction per the checkbook LOL!
Almost finished with Cocky Bastard…and I have zero plans but to read tomorrow…hooray!
Oh wow Badger sounds so good!! Is there a HEA?
Ok just read a review with some spoilers and kinda scared to read Badger now :/
Tessa, Wild and Reckless was just one of those fun reads that reminds you of those indie books from a few years ago.
Amy, last weekend(?) Read a pre review blurb for Badger on a blog. She liked it but did warn about it. One thing I couldn’t tell if a stand alone or if there could be more books?
I think when I read Badger, I want to go in blind. That reaction alone tells me that if I don’t, it’ll scare me too much to read it.
Bev, even better, it has a total jerkface in it. I love those. I had it in my wishlist, and I bought it when the sale hit, but didn’t read it. I totally forgot about it until Maryse pointed it out.
Yes Maryse, you DO want to read it…you REALLY REALLY want to!!! 😉
Ladies, there’s nothing to be scared of with Badger…just go into it knowing it’s not a warm-and-fuzzies book. I wouldn’t even classify it as a dark read but it’s not a light read either. It’s just…real. Real life and real struggles. That’s all I can say without saying too much.
Bev…I hope there aren’t any more books after it because this is one of those books that just needs to stand by itself, ya know?
Grey…it’s lendable! Loanable? I’m too tired right now to figure out the correct term…either way, let me know and I’ll send it to ya.
Anne, I won’t say whether or not it has a HEA (actually, I never do answer that ;)). Like I said, no warm and fuzzies but there is a romantic relationship aspect to it.
Michelle…the odd cover caught my attention. I am REALLY bad about judging covers, but I have found some of my favorites because of funky covers. I really liked the Wilson Mooney books but found the first two when they had the dark covers with the bright green butterfly on the front…if I had found them with the new covers I probably would have skipped right over the series because the covers wouldn’t have stood out from all the other hot-couple covers. I also found FCH when it looked like this: and of course I love that one. 😉
Amy I will message you on goodreads, thanks lovie! *snugglysmooch*
Ahhh, I feel so much better! Finished Cocky Bastard 4 stars, even though RL forced me to take over a week reading it. (So many laugh out loud moments in this book). Then I read the smutty short Coach (3 stars…it was ok for what it was. I just prefer longer is all…. Stories… smuffins, longer stories! *geez Louise, mutters about dirty birdies, while giving exaggerated eyerolls and ‘not-so-hidden giggles behind my hand*
And then I read fugly. This one was interesting for me. Solid 4.25. It bothered me that they didn’t describe her… And I felt like the ending was rushed a bit. But the angst and the gut check feels were on point, and I couldn’t put it down.
Yes… *cue happy dance!* my book drought of the past week from the 9th ring of Hades is over! I’m excited to borrow Badger from Amy, because I have Nada to do tomorrow, yay!
I think for now Badger will be a pass. RL is just too stressful right now. Give me my romances or fantasy. 🙂
Bev – you could join me in my fantasy high and buddy read Throne of Glass! Right now I am torn because I adore Chaol, but I just know that Dorian is in the wings there waiting. BOO. I think I always pick the wrong guy to root for.
Just downloaded Badger… thanks Amy! xoxo Now, to do nothing but read… bliss, that’s what this is. gah, I love Saturdays with nothing to do!
Huh, don’t know what to think about Badger. Wife 22 (because I loved After I Do) and Love Hurts sound good.
I got Me Before You from the library but haven’t been able to get up the nerve to read it.
Just finishing The Wake Up Call. Started a little slow, but picked up and has been enjoyable. Is married with children really the best job?!
Wild Reckless!!! Oh my, Owen, so good! The secondary characters were great throughout this book, too. Thanks for the reminder and recommendation, Maryse!
I’m stumped on what to start next. I picked up Fearless a few days ago and know that was raved about a ways back. I have The Girl on the Train too, but not sure I’m in the mood for that.
MichelleS, that sounds good. Won’t be able to start until later today.
Had to return most of my part read library books, just no time.
I know we have some naysayers about Sweet Dreams but it really has turned into one of my comfort reads.
Do you all comfort read. Sometimes I ll do a whole book, but usually just certain parts. It can be favorite parts and/or random ones. Remember flipping through paperbacks. What’s nice too is that sometimes I’ll then start to think I know a book and then do a full re read and find all this little wonderful moments I’d forgotten about.
Let us know what you think of it, Grey!
Bev, I totally understand about needing fantasy or romance to escape RL stuff. Badger isn’t the heaviest I have read but it’s definitely not light.
Cheryl! Read MBY!!! It made me cry but it didn’t leave me in a melancholy funk. It was more, I dunno, a heartbreaker then gave me a good cleansing cry, ya know?
Bev: I love my comfort reads. For me, Outlander book one, one of Paula Quinn’s historicals (MaGregors of Skye), or BDB book 2 (Rhage and Mary, sigh, so many re-reads of that paperback).
50% into Badger. The feels. Such classic Cara McKenna… Raw, painful, almost real world abrasiveness. Definitely not putting it down!
Grey, I agree, Badger is unputdownable. Unfortunately, real life is getting in the way today and I haven’t finished it yet! This book kinda reminds me of Push….same feels.
Grey and Jean…it’s consuming, right?? I’m still thinking about it a day later and still haven’t started anything else yet. So much of it was just so real and raw and unapologetic.
Hmmmm, comfort read…I’d have to say the Covenant series because it’s just so easy to get lost in and stirs up a bunch of nostalgic feelings for me.
*tries to push a like button for the covenant series comment*
I finished Wild Reckless. *big grinb* Definitely a 4.5 star read. It has a jerk, a sassy heroine, the jerk actually causing her big issues, tons of great side characters and me grinning big like this. 😀 I only wish the “hate” period to “Love” period had taken a little longer to really get there. However, it is just a preference. It didn’t jar me or anything.
Now… what do I read?
I decided on a little book. Don’t know if you all heard of it. It’s pretty good to start, and I’m on chapter three and I’m already vested into the story. It’s some odd book called Archer’s Voice. Anyone hear of it?
😛
Lol Tessa, glad to see I wasn’t the last hold out with that one.
Finished Badger… I need Manny the manatee, a blanket fort and a glass of wine…stat!
OMG TESSA!!!
How are you liking it???
YAY TESSA on Wild Reckless!!! *happy dance*
You felt like I did!!!
YAY Andee!!! 😀
Oh I have so many comments to catch up on. LOL!!!
I’m liking it so far, though I’m still at the beginning. 🙂 I like the MC and we’ll talk about Archer if he does more than pick up groceries from a broken bag.
Oh and I didn’t read your review of Wild Reckless before hand because I wanted in just knowing it was a “bully” book and nothing else. It was awesome. I just went and read it and yep to all of it!
Yay Tessa! Archer’s Voice….hope you love it!
I hope so too! 😀 So far, it has a great “voice”.
A favorites list is up! YEAH!
A reminder that The Martian movie comes out next month. This is one book to movie that I HAVE to see. If you haven’t read the book yet, you’re missing out. I know its classified as sci-fi. And it is sci-fi. But its so much more too. It’s a best seller and with good reason.
I love book bullies….i think wild reckless will be next for me!
Aaah 1-clicked so many books from the list this week, not good! BUT so glad I did – especially Wild Reckless. Devoured it and oh my god, best book I’ve read in a little while. Couldn’t agree more with you Tessa – if only they’d been “at war” a little longer but even so. Such a good read! Don’t know what to start next now though. Everything seems a bit ‘meh’ and not really grabbing my attention!
Kobe the 4th book in the Alvarez security series by Maryann Jordan is now live….alpha males anyone!
Stupid auto correct…it’s jobe not Kobe lol
Bev, I agree with you about Badger- I’m not sure I want a sucker punch of emotion book. 😉
Tessa, Archer’s Voice- one of my favs-hope you enjoy it too!
Thought I had read Wild Reckless, but haven’t, so one- clicked that one.
Just finishing Dark, Wild Night. The books in this series are always a guaranteed lighthearted, funny, with some angst read!
When JA Huss said Sept 20, she meant first thing. Tried to get the Rook and Ronin set and it’s gone!! 🙁
WAIT. Just tried again on Amazon and the R&R set is available. Great price for 7 books. Hope I like it! 🙂
YAY TESSA! You’re reading Archer’s Voice? Awesomesauce. I finished Throne of Glass and am moving right on to book two. Fully invested now. Oh my heart. Chaol just kills me. This better turn out good for him, that’s all I’m saying. I’m digging out my silver and amethyst ring now so I can think of sweet, sweet Chaol. Dorian who?
ROFL The series is insanely good, huh? It’s one of the best fantasy books I’ve read.
Read samples for The Badger, Wife 22 and Throttled. All so different. Just looking for something to read while waiting for Every Wrong Reason to be released tuesday. Hmmm… Badger intrigues me, but makes me nervous with the comments and anti-romance and questionable HEA, but damn it’s different!!
Oh boy.. I just finished Hollywood Dirt and I loved it! Even my typing has a new found Southern drawl and I’m sure I’ll be watching my manners this week more so than usual. Sweet tea anyone? What a great book!!!
Aw Tessa, you’re reading AV? I loved, loved, LOVED that book!!
Cheryl…do ya trust me and my book recs? Actually, don’t answer that. 😛 But seriously, think of Badger as a diluted Tarryn Fisher book…it’s going to mess with you a bit but it’s SO worth reading and has an ending that is fitting for the story. 😉
*tucks blankie around Grey* And here’s Manny who is snuffle-free (for the moment ;)) and a big glass of rhubarb wine. Oh! And Teri is offering some sweet tea…YUM!!
We need to clone Manny. Maryse needs him too.
Amy, I just posted my comment below on the Suddenly Sunday post and let me just say the Tarryn Fisher comment not helping and how cryptic is an “ending that is fitting for the story”…GAH!!!
I see myself with a crying jag from Badger straight on thru EWR. Can you lose weight from crying? May be the only upside. :>
Ok, started Badger because well, it’s different and I just read a fairly lighthearted read- Dark Wild Night and frankly I’m curious what Amy & Jean are commenting about.
Amy fair warning- if this book kicks my a$$ and I’m crying *like Brightside* I’m showing up at your door!! *expect me around friday since I’m east coast and you’re west* 😉
M’kay Grey, did you see what Tessa said? As soon as you’re done with Manny, Maryse is going to need him…sounds like she is having a rough go of it right now!
Cheryl…I answered you over on the other post. 😉
Amy…I answered you back! 😉
Jean…you around? I was wondering if you had finished Badger yet…
You too, Cheryl…I want to know what you think of it as well!
Yes Amy, I finished Badger. What the hell did you “make” me read?!?! This book has my head spinning out of control…Yeah, can’t stop thinking about it and I KNOW I will never forget it!
Going to try and start something new today, but my brain is all mushy from Badger. Don’t know what to read next……
Jean…the ending was fitting though, wasn’t it? And I loved how Adrian evolved so much over the course of the story. The only complaint I have is how repetitious the I’m-messed-up conversations became, but the story as a whole was enough to make up for that.
And her “chat” with Barbara (I think that was her name?) at the end…oh, my freaking heart. Now to see what Cheryl thinks when she is finished… *rubs hands together*
Yes Amy, the end was fitting. I was going crazy while reading this book…..kept guessing as to what was going to happen and had all kinds of scenarios in my head. Yes, Adrian was annoying at times, but I got it and I think we needed that to see her evolve. Yes, that conversation with Barbara…..sigh…. And I loved Ray even though he played a very small part in her life!
Exactly, Jean! I kept waiting for a twist or even for something outlandish to happen (as it often does in books), but the whole thing just…was. If that even makes any sense.
I’m thinking some kind of PNR that will be fun but not too addicting will be good right now ’cause Every Wrong Reason is a DEFINITE for tomorrow, and I don’t want to get wrapped up in something and then be torn between the two. 😉 Or maybe I’ll need it ready and waiting in case I have to take a breather from EWR at times like Maryse did… 😕
I was just now trying to find something short that I could read today and be ready for EWR tomorrow, but I just might need to clear my mind from the Badger craziness that has enveloped my brain! Lol!
Ooh! Have you read The Bridge?? It’s only like 80 pages but it is soooo good. I usually don’t care for short stories because it’s not enough time for me to get to know the characters, but it didn’t take long to care about the H and h in that one. You want to borrow it? Just let me know. 😉
By Rebecca Rogers Maher? I have that one! Okay I’m gonna read it now!
Yep, that’s the one! 😀
Passes Manny to Maryse… or Jean…or Cheryl…or anyone who has the feels from Badger.
I’m reading Pushing the limits by Brooke Cumberland. Whoa… Teacher/student read… *cleans off kindle screen from the steam*
I may read The Five Stages of Falling in Love, so I can jump on board the Rachel Higginson trail with the rest of you. I love buddy reads LOL!
