Lured into her lair by a quest for justice, Hanson discovers his hunger for Gina has only grown stronger and deeper. . .beyond the edge of control. Soon he’s shedding his last inhibitions in the search for answers, but the more she draws him into her erotic web, the less he can distinguish between passion and duty, pleasure and pain. . .good and evil.“

P.P.S. Also, while these bargain finds and new releases “look” great (and/or have awesome reviews and recommendations), unless I have my own personal review link next to it, I likely haven’t read it myself… I just found it and wanted to share it in case it’s awesome. So if you read it, let me know if it’s awesome. LOL!
NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.
Todays latest reader recommendations and bargain ebook finds:
- Stars in Their Eyes (Wrapped Up in Love) by Lauren Blakely <— JUST RELEASED and sounds like fun. A celebrity photographer trying to get into a *big-ticket* wedding, and the bad-boy she’s hired to help her. “With a student visa set to expire, the clock is ticking. When he lands a gig that pairs him with the beautiful blond spitfire Jess, he’s scored his best shot at living out the American dream. Winning her trust would be a whole lot easier, however, if he didn’t have ulterior motives…“
- One to Love (One to Hold) by Tia Louise <— JUST RELEASED and while I’m not sure what the story is about from the blurb (other than likely… an angsty love story), I think he’s a fighter. And the cover is hot! 😉
- Her Master’s Teacher by Lily White <—- JUST RELEASED! SUPER SUPER DARK READ I’m hearing!! Well, not just hearing/ 😉 I know, ’cause ummm… I read the first one. And my mind blew up! LOL! Here is my review of book #1: Her Master’s Courtesan
- Unbearable: A Dark Erotic Romance by Alaska Angelini <— Another DARK READ that was just released, and sounds intriguing… is he a mercy killing doctor with a dark twist? “In the eyes of society, I’m the perfect man. Charitable, kind hearted…a role model to all. For the ones seeking death, I’m their salvation. They think when they come to my door that I’ll assist with the one thing they’re afraid to do alone. Die. Little do they know, I have a lot more in store than a one way ticket to heaven or hell. Four weeks of being my slave and I’ll grant their suicidal wish…or so they think.” <— What what whaaaaaaat??!
- Cuts Run Deep by Amber Garza <— JUST RELEASED!!! Her boyfriend… “…was killed the night she was injured, and she is the only witness. If only she could remember what happened. Piper searches through her memories, recalling her entire relationship with Jackson in order to piece together what happened. Meanwhile, as Jackson’s family is trying to make sense of the tragedy, they find his journal and begin reading through it to find answers.“
- Deserved: Satan’s Rebels MC Book 3 by Kira Johns <— JUST RELEASED and it’s a biker book. “Shadow has spent the last five years in misery over losing Jade. He still loves her, but knows he lost his chance. Now married to his worst nightmare, Shadow sees the light at the end of the tunnel when Jade returns home, only to find out she has been hiding something from him for years.“
- High Strung (Power Station Book 1) by T Gephart <— ROCK STAR BOOK just released. Sh was “…willing to do anything to get back into the corporate world. Well, almost anything. Dan Evans, Rock Star was NOT one of those things. In fact she despised him. Apparently he didn’t get the memo.“
- Learning To Love (The Griffin Brothers Book 4) by Crystal Perkins <– this new release sounds sweet (and they’re in college). The resident popular guy once terrorized her, and the resident “bad boy” is hired to tutor her… It says book #4, but the blurb makes me think it can be read as a standalone…
- The Billionaire Boyfriend Trap: A Kavanagh Family Novel by Kendra Little
- Fade to Black by M. Stratton <— A movie star, a single mother that isn’t star-struck… and a psycho ex?
- Havoc by Xavier Neal <— Also just released and sounds like it could be fun… “When Clint “Grim” Walker, started Operation: Save Haven Davenport, the beaten, bruised girl who fell into his life, he had no idea it would turn him into an unbalanced, enraged, insecure idiot.
The mission objectives seemed simple. Make her feel safe in his home. Fail. Protect her from the neighborhood playboy. Fail. Shelter her from the ex girlfriend. Fail. Not fall in love with her. Epic fail…“ - Relentless Rhythm (Tempest #4) by Michelle Mankin <— NEW RELEASE & the blurb made me nervous, and it sounds like pure relationship angst to me!
- His End Game (MMG Series Book 1) by R B Hilliard <— Michelle just finished this one and she recommends it! “Found a Kindle recommended book that I am really enjoying called His End Game (MMG Series). He is swoon worthy, twists and suspense with a great supporting cast of friends. I recommend it if you are in a book slump!!” Ohhhh potential love triangle? Works at a bar, crushing on her manager… yet still struggling to get over her last “bad boy”?
- Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward <— Yep! This huge hit is back on the list already, ’cause Renate highly recommends it, too! “Maryse, Maryse, Maryse….Stepbrother Dearest….you will love it!!!! its been a while since a book has manged to suprise me….seems like a lot of books are blending, borrowing storylines and this one though not new…was everything we DO want in our romance books…can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it.“
- Wild Temptation (Wild, #1) by Emma Hart <— On sale today. “The moment I walked in to find Mr. Tall, Dark, Handsome, and Oh So British–my mind-blowing one night stand–as my photographer for the shoot that could change it all, I knew life was throwing me a curveball…“
- Lights To My Siren (The Heroes of The Dixie Wardens MC Book 1) by Lani Lynn Vale <— BIKER BOOK!! He’s part of an MC, a single father, and a firefighter, and she’s from a family of cops… “Baylee Roberts innocently walked into her bathroom never expecting that she’d find a man in there. It is her bathroom after all, and she lives alone. From the instant he placed his hat on her head to protect her from the sun, Baylee’s mind becomes filled with thoughts of a certain biker. She really shouldn’t go there. There’s no telling what kind of dangerous things he does for The Dixie Wardens MC.“
- Shifting Dreams: A Cambio Springs Mystery by Elizabeth Hunter <— Just went on sale today!! Paranormal romance (and I *think* with a human cop!!) I love humans and paranormals together. SO FUN!! “Somedays Jena Crowe just can’t get a break. Work at her diner never ends, her two boys are bundles of energy, and she’s pretty sure her oldest is about to shift into something furry or feathery. Added to that, changes seem to be coming to the tiny town of Cambio Springs, big changes that not everyone in the isolated town of shapeshifters is thrilled about…“
- Barefoot Kisses: A Billionaire Love Story by Krista Lakes <— So admittedly I saw the billionaire thing and I was all… yeah…. I like billionaires… 😉 But then. I read the blurb. And I liked the blurb. “…he was holding something back. Worse, Lena was keeping a secret from him as well. She knew that she couldn’t keep up her little white lie forever, but it turned out that Aiden’s secret was much bigger. Much much much bigger…” <— And the reviews look GREAT!!! TONS of great reviews…
- I Married a Master by Melanie Marchande <— sure enough… the blurb has me intrigued… “Benjamin Chase is not my type. He’s abrasive. He’s arrogant. He doesn’t take anything seriously. I’d die before I dated him, but he has something different in mind. He has to get married in the next nine months, or he loses his company to his ex-wife. And apparently, I’m the most eligible bachelorette in town…“
- Tasting Never (Never say Never Book 1) by C.M. Stunich <— Shell found us this deal, saying: “‘Tasting Forever’ by C.M. stunich is on sale. It’s the first book of a highly rated trilogy with a tattooed/ pierced hero who is swoony and heart melting and totally in love with his girl, but who is also mysterious and has a very broken past, I can’t wait to read it as I love the sound of it so I 1 clicked it.“

Ohhhh I can’t read any of them yet!! I’m reading becoming Calder!!!
How is it Laura??
I’m reading “Bad Things” by Varian Krylov. 😀
‘Tasting Forever’ by C.M. stunich is on sale ($o.99). It’s the first book of a highly rated trilogy with a tattooed/ pierced hero who is swoony and heart melting and totally in love with his girl, but who is also mysterious and has a very broken past, I can’t wait to read it as I love the sound of it so I 1 clicked it.
‘More Than Forever’ by Jay McLean is also $0.99. It’s a part of series but can be read as a complete standalone novel. “Click”
‘Out Of Line’ : Boxed Set by Jen McLaughlin – Series Sale
Maryse I don’t know which one to ‘click’ and which one not to as I want them all ( specially under the ‘dark’ heading).
I know the dark oneeessssssss!!!!!!
And “One to Love” and “Rhythm”. Those are my main *blurb jolters* right now…
Maryse who is the writer of ‘Rhythm’ as I can’t see this one in your list or have I gone blind in my excitement ???
It’s getting there maryse was sort of confusing a bit to start but it’s had a bit is sweetness already and angst i think it’s going to get real good because I will give u a bit of a Key word they are in like a Amish/cult community!
Havoc went on my list. …so far. *trying* to be more conservative with my reading list as I may have more books tbr than life expectancy at this point.
(go ahead, call me obsessed) I am re-reading Bad Things. I can’t believe all the nuances I missed the first time around. I can’t wait for your review Maryse. Are you hating him yet?
Stepbrother Dearest was the best book I have read all year! By far! Seriously, read it. You will not be disappointed! It was everything you want from a book. Gosh now I want to read it all over again!
Wow… how is it possible after all my recent one-clicking I hardly have any of these on my Kindle? I may start with Lights to My Siren, but I’ve never read anything by the author before. Or maybe Fade to Black…
Laura, I have Becoming Calder on my tbr. But you’re the second person I’ve seen give it a lukewarm feedback while reading it. 🙁 On the other hand, this is really great because I can move it further down on my tbr. 🙂
OK Maryse, there have been many now raving about Stepbrother Dearest. All that’s left to convince me is your review. (hint, hint) 🙂
Fabi I’m not to far into it but I think I keep waiting for the goodness of archers voice to show up in it and I shouldn’t compare them but I will let u know how it goes, I think it’s going to get really good but not much has happened yet. Oh and fabi stepbrother dearest was good I enjoyed that aswell very good buuuuut I think u should all start reading the selfie heights series remember scarring love m s brannon? I liked the 1st and read it ages ago then picked up the second last week and cried like a baby so bad I loved the second so recommed it!!
That was sulfur heights not selfie stupid autocorrect lol
Laura I haven’t read any of those you mention. I’m probably the sore thumb sticking out on this blog as I don’t normally care for books that make me cry. (I cry pretty easily so some of the more heartbreaking ones y’all read have me blindly sobbing, heart hurting, stomach rebelling, crazy feeling) <—- so, yeah, I try not to do too many of those.
I meant to say this on my very first post on this thread…
Happy B-day Maryse’s Mommy!!!
Tasting Never and Shifting Dreams looked interesting so I clicked those. I finished Stepbrother Dearest and it was good but I did not have a strong connection to the characters for some reason so I didn’t flip out over it. Right now I’m reading Extinguish and looking forward to Reignite.
More Than Forever by Jay McLean is on sale for .99. Love this book and this series. It is the 4th book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. But you’ll love them all! Total feels!
Finally got around to reading Torture to her Soul. It was good, but I liked Monster in his Eyes more. It was her POV and that made it more intense, not knowing the details. Torture is his POV, continuing the story, but so much would have been more intense if it were her POV. Really good, but the not knowing is what really made Monster insanely intense. Her POV would have kept the intensity and made it more heartbreaking.
Black Spring comes out Oct. 28th. It continues the Black Wing series. 😀 However, more important, I’m anxious over Oct. 15. Mr. Beautiful comes out and I get my dose of James Cavendish. *sighs*
Fabi, I understand. I always wonder why I pick up nooks that make me cry. I almost never do if I know. Bright Side was the exception, not the norm. I want HEA, darn it! Not tears.
All I had to see was the name Lily White and I almost ended up in the fetal position. *shudder* She’s a great writer if she can do that to me! 😉 I’m thinking One to Love, His End Game, Barefoot Kisses and Finished are definite one-clicks, but Cuts Run Deep was *my* blurb jolt out of this list. Sounds like it could have some twists in it!!
“…some of the more heartbreaking ones y’all read have me blindly sobbing, heart hurting, stomach rebelling, crazy feeling” *snort* That’s exactly why I read them, Fabi. 😛
I wanted this in a separate comment…
Happy Birthday to your Mommy!!! 😀
I agree about stepbrother dearest Michelle It was good but not 5* good.
Happy birthday maryse’s mummy!!
Haaa Amy, you’re a lot tougher than me. 🙂
Glad some of you are speeking up about Stepbrother Dearest not being exactly a 5* read.
All your comments help me organize my out of control tbr.
In fact, I’m about to split it up into 2 lists. Regular tbr and a new tbr #1s which are books I want to read right this very second. Ahhh, what I wouldn’t give for parallel universes so I could read multiple books at exactly the same time. (do you think I’ve read too much sci fi in my life?) lol
I have to agree about Stepbrother Dearest too. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it. I just didn’t swoon over it like others have. I really don’t like miscommunication as a plot device….drives me crazy! With Facebook & all other forms of digital stalking, there’s NO excuse to NOT know if someone is married, engaged, divorced, has kids, or is dead. And I don’t like stories that jump into the future. No way you feel the same about a person 7yrs after last seeing them. You don’t know them…no one is the same @ 25 as they were @ 18. Too many life experiences. Ok, off my soapbox.
Not that I EVER Google, Facebook, or otherwise cyber-stalk ANY of my exes. Noooooo. Not me.
omg Lauren. Thanks for the input. I’m so glad I mentioned SD and the praise I’d seen. Guess we can’t tell what others are thinking unless they make a point of commenting. Like most of you, I tend to comment on 4-5 star reads and very occassionally on a 1* if it really annoyed me. But otherwise I don’t tend to speak up my opinion on a read.
Lol on describing those plot elements. I totally agree they would annoy me too.
You guys are the sweeeeeeetest!! My mommy will love her birthday wishes! 🙂
Yes the feedback is helping me, too! 🙂
So far not far enough into Bad Things to hate him yet, (I’ve had an incredibly busy week) but loving the writing style for sure!
Lol Lauren digital stalking that’s so good!
Ok becoming Calder things are on the move!! Not sure where though but I’m at chapter 5,6? Not much has happened so far I want it to get moving a bit faster it’s trailing a bit but it’s so sweeeeeet
I just started Apolonia and am only about 10 pages in, but I have no doubt I will love it. I just finished Aftermath by Cara Dee and it was very good. Maybe not quite Outcome good but I enjoyed the story. Have you read either of them yet?
I read Aftermath (that was the first one right?) That’s the one I read and loved it! I still have to read #2…
That’s right Lauren…and I’m sure you’ve never stalked on Facebook an ex who obliterated your heart in high school just to gloat over how run down he now looks, especially compared to hubby. And neither have I. 😉
Hey, I know I have an inner b!tch that rears her head sometimes…and I embrace her. 😛
*snort* 😛
Yeahhhhhh…. Tee hee!!!!
Nicole, keep us updated on Apolonia. It’s one that caught my eye from the last list.
You are right I had them mixed up…Well I read the second one and it was good. 🙂 I will keep you in the loop on Apolonia I am very intrigued…
I’m reading thecLexi Blake’s ‘Masters and Merceneries’ series that you mentioned about a week ago, and really enjoying them. They’re pretty addictive…
Catching up with Devil’s Game so I can go right into Reaper’s Stand. So far reeeeally good. This author never disappoints. Of course I had to one click ur 2 or 5 to my never ending library!!! I’m with Fabi. A parallel universe would be great!!!
Tasting Never by CM Stunich is the first in a phenomenal series…..I loved it!! Great characters and story!!
Stepbrother Dearest and His End Game are both amazing reads. You will not be able to put either one down so make some time 🙂 Both have some WTF moments my kindle was in danger of being thrown.
Just read Mia Sheridan’s Calder and Eden -wow! That was right after Riley Mackenzie’s Beautifully Awake and Beautifully Done. 4 five star reads back to back – that doesn’t happen very often!! Don’t want the streak to end. What to pick next- choices, choice !!!
I’m loving all the feedback on books I have one-clicked!
Annie, is that a continuing series or is each book a standalone? I didn’t read the blurbs for the other books in case of spoilers. 😉
WTF moments…oh Debi, those are the words I love to hear associated with a book!!
Amy, me too 🙂 There was a pretty good shocker in Once Perfect I just read that the other day and it really throw me I had no idea it was coming.
Happy Birthday to your Mom!
So many good choices on your list. Have to finish Shadowfever before I look too closely and squirrel. So glad I listened to Michelle and Fabi and read this series. Loving it and I think Shadowfever is my favorite. 🙂
Happy birthday to your mum maryse,
I have read both becoming Calder and finding Eden. To be honest you have to read both to really enjoy. Becoming Calder I found the whole way through was angsty very. When I finished I thought I don’t know whether I enjoyed or not. Finding Eden is the conclusion and is really set 3 years later. 2 broken people. Trying to find themselves in society. Probably 4stars maybe 3.5 stars. Not as good as archers voice. I also read stepbrother dearest and really enjoyed that. Hope that helps
Happy (belated) Birthday to your mommy!!! Is she a little munchkin, like you? Does she share your reading obsession?
I am 30 pages away from finishing ‘Deity’ (Book 3 in the Covenant Series Amy recommended). It definitely gave me my PNR fix. My only wish was that there was more “steam” – but it’s YA, so it is steamy, but, not over the top sexy. Kind of a “I think that was a sex scene” thing going on. But the story makes up for all of that, if you like PNR / YA. For those who have read the series…. I hate Seth right now. I think that’s what I am most upset about. I was pulling for you, you a**hole!!! Cool, interesting surprises keep happening too (Apollo!!!!).
For this weekend I am in the mood for something NA or contemporary. A guy and a girl (sorry Fabi….. heeheehee). A Colleen Hoover feel (yeah right! don’t we all wish).
Cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Bad Things, Maryse. If nothing else, it sure sticks with you, doesn’t it? Please like Xavi…….
lol MichelleS I don’t know what gave you the idea I only like reading m/m. If I count the one in the bdb series, I’ve read a total of 4 of them so far. That’s among the thousands of books I’ve read in my lifetime. Granted, all 4 have been 5* for me, but there have been hundreds of 5* ones that were not m/m. I am intruigued by that subgenre though. There seems to be a certain feeling that female authors bring to m/m stories. Something forbidden but oh so sweet. Something that makes me want to cheer for the underdog. (No pun intended)
It seems like it’s been a while since I’ve read a YA. I like those a lot more than you do. 🙂 Covenant is definitely on my #1 tbr list but first, no exceptions, is Lord of the Fading Lands. Finishing up my ‘re-reads and then I’m off to explore one of your favs. 🙂
Oh, Deborah Bladon just released a stand alone, Solo. Sounds pretty angsty to me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00OD3L996/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
Michelle I always love the bad guy! LOL!!
My mom is about 5’3″ or is it 5’4″ so she’s at a much more normal (or is it nicer to say “average”) height than mine. I wish I got that extra few inches… <---- OMG that sounded funny! *sideglances at Amy*
Michelle S you should sample Deeper by Robin York.
I read His End Game, all of it, but I didn’t really like it. I read it based on a very positive review and may just be the odd one out on it.
Fabi: totally kidding about the m/m thing. I know you have read almost all the same ones I did (Try, Take, etc). Email me if you do read Lord of the Fading Lands. That’s my baby…. Be gentle.
Haven’t found my next read yet. Downloading samples. Was thinking about Black Lies.
Happy Birthday, Maryse’s mom!!!
Bev – okay, I downloaded the sample of Deeper and will see if it grabs me. What are you reading Bev? Since you and I have similar taste in Urban Fantasy – did you ever read The Mageri series? or Irin Chronicles? LOVED both. Or are you in a traditional romance mood?
Finishing Extinguish and trying to figure out what I’m going with next…hmmm too many on my tbr – haha Fabi I’m not even to your level of tbr and I can’t decide 😉
MichelleS, The Mageri series is at the top of my pnr read list (and the Dark Light series) but I’m thinking more contemporary romance right now – might go with Tasting Never – looks angsty. I loved the Covenant series more with each book – didn’t even miss the ‘steam’
Off to check out sample of the Deeper book you mentioned Bev…
I’ve barely read this week. I randomly pulled a book from my kindle, How it Rolls, and it’s ok. A little YA feel with very sweet hero and so far fast easy read. Nice after a long week, plus nice to keep with my goal of cleaning up my kindle.
I wanted to read the EIT series so next will be Red Fox unless I squirrel to historical, that’s were my mood is. I have Sherry Thomas’ Luckiest Lady in London.
And that was a long answer to a simple question, lol.
I have an Elizabeth Hunter book already. The first in her Elemental Mysteries have you read that one?
I need to start a wish list and put all the rec on it.
A wish list? eeeek I have two wish lists in addition to my 2 (erm actually 3) tbr lists.
Bev – yes, read all of the Elemental Mysteries series. Loved it. A little slow to start and build, but turned out to be one of the best vampire series ever, for me.
Squirrel into historial! Oh yeah! I hear ya’. Regency novels are my achilles heel. Some of my favorite historicals: Tapestry by Ranney (Making Faces meets Pride & Prejudice); Sutherland Brothers by Kresley Cole; Lord of the Isles by Mazucca (that one has some fairy magic in it, a wee bit). And so so many more. Making me squirrelly too.
Bev – I meant to say “Scots, time travel, and fairy magic” for Lord of the Isles. That used to me one of my favorite formulas, and if done well, I will still read that genre. It’s very reminiscent of Moning’s “Highlander’s Touch” and “Beyond the Highland Mist”. I got obsessed after Moning’s series and looked for copy cats. This was the best of that lot.
Well, gotta go clean something – or pretend to in between checking all your posts!
Okay I just added 9 more to the list (top of it).
Oooh, Making Faces + Pride and Prejudice that sounds really good. Really good.
That reminds me I have a historical that has some magic in it that downloaded awhile ago. Older one with great reviews. Bewitching by Jill Barnet, still need to read it.
Hmm if not careful will end up going on a historical glom.
Maybe you’ll find those few extra inches in Deeper, Maryse! LOL!!!! 😛
OMG, that sounded soooo bad…even to me!!! *blushing*
I am so getting What We Left Behind. Doesn’t that title alone make your tummy clench? Okay, maybe it’s just me. Oh! And Solo!
Hey ladies, speaking of foreign guys (you were mentioning Scots), I have to ask this…do any of you find that an accent bumps up a guy’s attractiveness, like in a movie or on TV? Maybe I’m just a weirdo (sheddup peanut gallery!), but when an actor has an accent, to me his hotness skyrockets. Even a less-than-attractive actor can bump up a few notches on the good-looking scale with an accent.
Wow, I really made my coffee strong this morning! 😀
Happy Birthday Maryse Mom!
I am not sure if all of you have read this series or even liked it but it is Vampire and each book is $.99 on Amazon today! It is A Shade Of Vampire Series by Bella Forrest. A lot of reviews and lots of stars! I love my Vampires. Chances are you already know about these but wanted to let you know they were $.99!
Terri
From OK
Woo-hoo Terri! I have the first book of that series (haven’t read it yet) but now I have an excuse to pick up the rest. Thanks for that!
By the way…at my height of 5’1″, 5’4″ definitely seems more “normal.” 😉
Yes yes yes.
Love Benedict Cumberbatch’s voice, love.
And have you heard the actors who plays Rick on WD real accent? I think it it is Beautiful. Seriously look it up on you tube.
LOL Amy!!!
Yeah… Maybe I willlllll… 😉
The Ricktator??? Oooooh, I love how he sounds with his accent!
Maryse you can read More Than Forever as a stand alone!!! I suggest reading them all cause they are amazing… But feel free to just jump in. You will fall in love!!!
Wow! That is amazing More Than Forever by Jay McLean being 99c. This book is amazing and is a journey of so many emotions and soul gripping feels!!!
*giggle* Or Decker’s Wood! Oh, wait…someone said it was only 4.5. 😛
More than Forever is more than amazing. You can read it as a stand alone… But you’ll want to devour them all. Jay McLean is a master of the feels!
Mote Than Forever is my #1 read of the year…. Maybe ever!! So much emotion in this book – laughter, love, friendship… This book has it all!
I can’t believe More Than Forever by Jay McLean is only 99 cents!!! It’s my favorite of the series and one of my top reads ever!
I love the More Than Series by Jay McLean and YES you can read MORE THAN FOREVER as a standalone so to anyone who reads me GO GO GO buy the book for only .99 c.
I finally read Jahleel!! Oh the feels it gave me…angry, sad, happy!! I can’t decide if I really loved it or not but sometimes those are the best books:)
Now on to Chad’s Chase and then the More Than series!!
Ok I finished becoming Calder I’m a little disappointed in going to read finding Eden cause I think that will be the better book 🙁
Amy I’m Scottish and whenever in reading it’s always and American accent I imagine lol I think it’s just cause it’s different from what u hear everyday
Oh Amy – an accent definitely seals the deal for me. I swooned over Jean-Luc Picard even though he was older and bald on Star Trek because of that accent, and Sean Connery, that neanderthal, love that accent. YES yes yes Benedict Cumberbatch – not pretty to look at, but THAT VOICE. And then to hear Charlie Hunnam with his real accent…. okay, I’m getting a little crazy again.
Have a little time to read right now – I should get to it.
Laura that means you have the best accent. I can’t really imagine what an American accent sounds like, lol. Except if they are from the south or bBoston.
Michelle S I find BC really attractive actually. Connery’s accent is wonderful.
Oh loved Cary Grants voice and not an accent but love Jimmy Stewart’s voice.
Oh accents. I’m going to chime in because I’ve always been such a sucker for a Brittish accent. *swoon* I’ll take an Aussie too. 🙂
Hey me again!
Boxed Set of 4 books by S.K. Logsdon, the Stricken Rock Series. Again I am not sure if any of you have read these but if not $.99 for today!
Terri
From OK
Aw thanks bev but if I was to actually to speak to any of u I don’t think I would understand a word I’m saying lol Scottish accents in movies media etc aren’t really how we talk the closest I’ve seen it in a book is probably kresley Coles lykaes lol
Oh and I’ve started finding Eden Much much better than Calder although u really do have to read Calder to get the whole story/feelings
Laura I’ve read some of Presley Cole’s work. But I don’t remember Lykaes. Is that a book title? And, I don’t know about you, but I find accents and even foreign languages easier to understand written than spoken.
Presley=Kresley auto correct strikes again
No fabi I mean in immortals after dark u know like Lachlan and Gareth they are ment to be Scottish and the writing is the way Scottish people would pronounce the words or close to it but yep is so much easier to understand anything written down than hearing anything I agree
I’m assuming the highlander (I think that’s what it is) that u all talk about is ment to be Scottish is it? I haven’t read it are they any good?
Oh, iv recently read the first one of that series and it was really good. Loved Nix. But I’m a little hesitant because there are alot of books in that series
Scotland, Laura?? I knew you were overseas, but I didn’t realize it was there. I’m with Bev…I’ll bet your accent is awesome. Again…Scotland?!?!? Seriously, I’m jealous. 😉
My hubby is fluent in Indonesian, and they always tell him that he has an “American accent.” LOL!
Okay ladies, I know I promised to read Archer’s Voice, but I’m *finally* going to read How to Kill a Rockstar. All that talk of Thoughtless not long ago has me craving some rockstar love!
Amy are you still reading the fever series?
Yep yep Scotland glasgow to be precise lots of lovely rain lol I do get excited when they are in Scotland in books I’m like yay I’m there! Lol
Bev u really have to read them it’s one of my top 5 series love them all haven’t read dark Skye yet but that’s more to do with the price!! But they they are all amazing and I really want to be s Valkyrie when I grow up 🙁
Amy I wouldn’t be able to tell where anyone is from in the different parts of America it’s all sort of the same to me lol ur poor hubby would probably get that comment from me lol
Bev I just finished the fever series didn’t want it to end 🙁
Bev – so I read the sample for “Deeper’ – totally hooked. Instantly. It’s definitely my weekend read. 🙂 thank you…… (love her inner monologue, the very current could-be-any-girl scenario, and West….. yup…. going to be good, I can feel it.
The Stricken series by SK Logsdon is 99¢ right now for the whole series. I bought it and so far, it’s definitely sweet. I’m now onto book two.
Finding Eden – getting excited and heartbroken at the same time here!!! So much better than Calder!!
Michelle S Yay, and now I’m nervous, lol. Though I know that with all the different readers on here we are not always going to like the same book. But be gentle if need be.
I think Caroline’s thoughts are so realistic. Not over dramatic but show the impact.
One of my favorite things in the book is how she sees West and describes him.
Fingers crossed you like it.
Laura, I’ve read some of that series. Great one. I recently listened to an audio book where the narrarator had a Scottish accent and the book characters were mostly Scottish. It added SO much to the narration. Of course, I don’t know if it was a real Scottish accent or not. But it seemed he had a harder time with the American accent of the only American character than he did with the Scottish ones. Of course it was PNR with dragons and such. 🙂
Laura can I ask what time is it there?
Keep up the updates please as I’ve seen that some were completely blown away by those books so they have me curious.
lol probably was fabi u know the name Carl in America well trying to say it with my accent it alway comes out as carol lol we just can’t say it! I know this from trying to say the boys name in the walking dead
Bev right now it’s 23.38 so it’s actually bed time I’ve had to put finding Eden down but it’s so much better than becoming Calder but I will let u all know tomoz how it goes night everyone!!!
Bev, I’m taking a break from the Fever series to read How to Kill a Rockstar. I really like the Fever books, but I need some lovin’ to be going on and it’s just not happening yet. I finished Bloodfever and will start Faefever sometime next week most likely.
It looks like a lot of us had a busy week and not a lot of reading time. It took me almost a week to read just two of the Fever books!
FYI….1-clicked Havoc yesterday & just finished it…or did I? Freakin cliffhanger!!!!! They need to warn us in the blurb. I don’t read cliffy’s anymore…too stressful.
Omg Lauren, that’s the one I wanter read. Thanks for the heads up.
MichelleS – I am about 70% into Bad Things and Xavi! It’s been a rough ride but I am loving this book.
Back to Bad Things – been away for most of the day. I need my fix.
Amy I get it. I plan to read other books between the EIT ones.
Oh, I’m itching to click on many of the books above. I’m about 90% finished with Shadowfever and then it’s the dilemma of what to read next! 🙂
I’m still wondering on Push, does the next book Pull complete the story or is there a third book?
Amy, I love accents and they so up the attractiveness factor!
Amy & Maryse another thing in common, I’m 5’2″!!
Always fascinated picking up the little things we all have in common aside from our passion for great books and Maryse’s blog but also our addiction to Sephora/Ulta (Bare Minerals, etc), our similar personalities and sense of humor (smutty)!!! Oh yeah my husband is an Aussie and I’m 5’1″!! Cannot even imagine if we all got together in one place!! No one would get a word in edgewise!! Another little factoid… Jennifer Armentrout use to live in my development but moved down the road further out!!! Xoxo
Seriously Cheryl and Linda????? More snack-size ladies!! Wow Linda, an Aussie hubby and living near JA?? My jealousy just shifted from Laura to you! 😉
If all of us got together in one place, the first thing I would do is make MichelleS order a sex-themed drink just to see her blush! 😛
Oh Amy, you are too sweet. Making a 5 foot nothin’ girl order a sex-themed drink is just too wicked!!! But a smut-read-book-fest with all of ya’ll would surely ROCK!!!! Then we could all sext our husbands at the end of the night!!!
I had lans this evening, so I am late in getting started reading. plan to devour “Deeper” tomorrow. Love it so far.
Hey Amy & Maryse, and any one else who loves makeup- what foundation do you use? I just ran out of Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer, and while I liked it was wondering if you guys loved what you were using. 😉
Quick update on some deals I noticed this morning:
One To Tell the Grandkids which was mentioned a while ago on here is free right now. Running on Empty and Recovery by LB Simmons are both free as well. It’s a spend no money morning which is the best kind right 😀
MichelleS! You’re a shortie, too!! 😀 So glad to hear you like the Covenant series. I wanted to kick Seth’s a$$ in Deity, but how funny was it when he faced off with Apollo at the courthouse and Apollo called him something like a punka$$ (I can’t remember exactly what it was).
I’m at 40% with Rockstar, and I just *know* something is coming. Just know it. Things can’t go that well early on without something coming along and giving it a smackdown. And his obsession with that one particular gut organ was cute at first but now…no, no, no. Just *please* no. 😕 I’m thinking I need to open a bottle of cabernet…it’s 5 o’clock where Laura is, right?? Right????
Cheryl, right now I’m using Bare Minerals Brightening Serum Foundation. There are mixed reviews out there on it, but it is working for me. It has a lighter coverage so it doesn’t feel too thick or cakey. I *would* recommend trying it out in the store first just to make sure it works for you.
Michelle, One To Tell the Grandkids was a good one. It’s a great palate cleanser in between intense, angsty reads!
He is obsessed with her organs? That’s new …….and disturbing.
No Bev, LOL! He is obsessed with one of *his* organs. It’s a GUT organ, not *that* organ! If you ever read it then you’ll know what I mean. 😉
You all are making me feel tall, and I’m only 5’4″! I finished the second Stricken Rocker book, and wanted a break. So, now I’m reading More Than This by Jay McLean. I am 20% in and it is exactly what I’ve been looking for. *grins*
Finished Shadowfever. LOVED the series and Barrons and Mac!! Don’t think I will read the spinoff series yet, maybe in January when the next book comes out. Now I need to decide what I want to read next…
Thanks Amy for the makeup recommendation. Need to go to Sephora soon…
Ok finished finding Eden!!! It was so good glad I got past the becoming Calder part but to be honest u really have to read it first but I really loved it overall!!
Amy ur safe it’s actually 18.16 lol what can I read next what’s the suggestions?!?
Bev. BevBevBevBevBev……. I need you. I am 51% into “Deeper”. Oh. Em. Gee. How could you sneak that into the conversation so casually and not SQUEEEEEEEEE like a crazy woman? This is a gem. A find. I LOVE it. It’s the same feeling I had when I read Beautiful Disaster 2 1/2 years ago. One of my first YA novels. I’m tingly. I want to highlight every page. I cancelled my plans for today so I could finish it. Please let the second half be as good as the first. I’m surprised you’re not shouting at Maryse to “read this now”!!!! so so good……. 🙂 (grinning like a love sick teenager)
WHOA!!! WHOOOAAAA MICHELLE!!!!!!!
What is this about same “feeling” as BD from 2.5 years ago. WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!!???
I need to start whatever it is you’re reading. NOW.
I wanna be lovesick!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol, Michelle S. So glad it’s not just me.
Honestly, I think I was just completely charmed by this book. I like NA but can sometimes have a hard time “being” the heroine, but not with Caroline. I loved her voice. Though some of those *thoughts* are heartbreaking. I can’t believe it’s legal and definitely timely.
Oh and the friends!!! I’m sorry but sometimes this genre has the WORST friends.
Starting Red Fox today and the Thomas historical after……or maybe start both today. Maybe if Dex gets too freaky I’ll visit London for a bit.
Bev Michelle what book are u talking about? It sounds good what’s it about?
Oh excited to read Deeper now. My library had it so I’m next on hold. I started You: A Novel since I put it off and need to return soon. Bev I think Red Fox was my least favorite of the series…I can’t remember for sure either that one or Dead Sky Morning buttttttt least favorite for that series is still really enjoyable and I loved loved so many of the later books.
I think it’s deeper robin York maryse are u going to read it? I think I will start it now u in?
*perks up* Did someone say a book like Beautiful Disaster????
I’m. So. IN!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀
If it is deeper there’s already a second called harder * claps and jumps *
No way…it’s a sign!!! A sign, I tell ya!!!
https://www.1001cocktails.com/recipes/mixed-drinks/100708/cocktail-beautiful-disaster.html
*snicker* Laura said deeper and harder. 😛
And clapped and jumped lol!!
Amy what the hells a Mickey?
Ok, before I jump on this Deeper bandwagon is Harder the conclusion to the story or just book 2 in a trilogy? HATE cliffhangers!
Need a good story since I am sad to have finished the fever series! 🙂
Yes, Harder is the conclusion.
I adored this book but maybe sample first. I don’t want you all to be disappointed, though again sooo good.
Michelle don’t you love a library?
*snort* Laura, I’m assuming the limon rum is the Mickey.
Now Laura is cussing! *giggle*
Soooooo…first Deeper, then Harder?
Sounds like– *mouth muffled by someone’s hand*
Lol yeah but whys it called a mickey? That’s confusing! Amy u going to read deeper I’ve started! I just went feck it I’m doin it I trust bev and Michelle so let’s go lol
I had to Google it. Apparently it is a term for about 375 mL of alcohol.
I have to finish Rockstar first, but then I will probably start Deeper. I say *probably* because I have the worst book self-discipline. 😉
Which is whyyyyyyyyy we have the Book-Doms. 😉
Although we’ve been ignoring them lately. They’re probably spanking each other right now. Oh! *snort*!!!!!!!!
Haha u will be starting deeper and I will be onto harder *snort* that was my hand covering ur mouth btw Amy I just couldn’t let u do it lol! Ok I learned something new I’m going to say I learned a new American thing a mickey!!
Maryse – yes, it’s “Deeper” by R York that’s got me in a tizzy. Bev just kind of snuck it in there on Friday as a suggestion, or maybe yesterday morning, all casual like. Bev – you didn’t mention it had a follow up!! I went in blind.
What I love – all of her thoughts, her predicament, the moody broody guy, all of the writing (it’s just so easy to read, but I want to highlight everything); the friends, the fact that not so much has to happen, but the interactions between people keep me riveted. It’s that feeling. A total gem.
So here’s a sample of her kooky self talk: “Until he takes a step toward me. That’s worse. Better, too. Better-worse. It’s totally a thing.” “He wouldn’t save me. He’d ruin me. I’m already ruined enough.” And he says, “you’re a weird one, aren’t you?” Gah. I’m totally hooked.
I didn’t throw out the Beautiful Disaster line to hook you, Maryse. I promise. I was trying to tell Bev how I was feeling at this point. It’s all about the feeling, you know?
Will update you on how this whole thing turns out. Feels very 5 star-ish to me right now. I don’t even care what happens, cliff hangers, who cares? Because it is worth this feeling. I’m a dork.
I like it!!!!!
Being a dork is fun, and this sounds like tonight, for me!
Michelle S I do that all the time compare books on how they made me feel or grabbed my attention.
I love their first meeting, I think it’s a great meet/cute.
I mentioned Harder, but you know all casual like, lol.
Have you got to the bracelet yet? So sweet.
Like I said love her internal voice it’s so different and again how she describes and sees West.
Love it too – Caroline – evil crawls out of a snake pit, you have to track it down and squash it. Then you have to assume it had babies and go looking for them.
Really like her God I want to be her friend just to make her feel better too and get Amy to give her a mickey it might help
LMAO isn’t a mickey also drugging someone?
Book Doms spanking each other? *snorrrrrrrt* Shhhhh…you’re gonna get us all in trouble with them.
😐
*giggle* But what a visual!!! 😛 Oh, crap…did they hear us?? *hiding behind Maryse*
Hey!! I’m not drugging anyone!!!
Pfft I don’t even know what the hell it is Amy say that Google says that it’s a measure of alcohol so we are going by the mighty Google yep Amy and I are just going to believe everything Google says in future good plan……….. Does it really mean drugging someone bev? U are all like bad parents to me what if I started telling people it ment the wrong thing?! Stupid Google!
AAAAMMMMYYYY – guess what? what a small freaking world it is. This book was definitely meant to be read by you. You know what they just did? huh huh? The did the Blow Job shots!!!! yes, I said it. Doesn’t mean I’m going to ever do it. Never even heard of it with my wittle veergen ears – and now it shows up in the book I’m reading? And in your post? LOL!!!!! (Deeper, by R York, for those who just joined the insanity).

Seems to depend on where your from. Drugging, teasing, or liquor
Yep here if u say ur taking the mickey it mean ur taking the p**s but haven’t heard of the other 2 maybe we should just ban the word mickey I don’t want people to think we are running around wanting to drug/give alcohol or tease people lol
LOL!!!!!! OMG I’m dying laughing here, ladies!!! Definitely not drugging anyone but the alcohol, teasing and almost p*ssing my pants from laughing at you guys all sounds about right. Mickeys all around for us!! 😀
MichelleS, that’s awesome!! Okay, that seals it…I’m reading it next!
I have to add a silly little line because it made me smile.
“And honestly? I think his ears are too small.” ~ Caroline
Lol I liked that to bev she kind of reminds me of Janie from Neanderthal seeks human the way she doesn’t have a filter to her crazy thoughts
Amy we should just make the beautiful disaster cocktails any everyone will have a mickey I mean it’s 11.12 pm here that’s a great cocktail time!
Wha… *grabs hair* What… *hits hand to forehead* What the #@&% just happened?!?!?
*takes a deep breath*
Okay, back to Rockstar…
HTKARS Amy!??!
I’m reading Deeper! Just started it! 😀
Maryse Yay!! I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as I and Michelle S have.
Laura……Um….thanks? Lol.
Amy I’m sure you meant with us, laughing with us.;-)
Yep, Maryse. *snuffles into manatee* That’s what I’m reading.
I’m not laughing *at* or *with* ANYONE right now, Bev…
I know where you are Amy…
*snuggles Amy*
Amy – you’re reading How to Kill a Rockstar? You poor poor baby. Maryse is so mean recommending books like that, isn’t she?
I just finished “Deeper”, so I one-clicked book 2 “Harder”. Those book titles! What was she thinking? Giving Amy way too much material here.
Well, I loved it. I knew I’d be crying at some point. Laughing. Smiling. It had everything. A very likable heroine and hero. And even her dad. And his sister. I just connected with it. Thank you Bev, again, for sharing it. (keeping my fingers crossed with you that Maryse likes it too).
Amy I remember feeling the same way when reading HTKARS. Hang in there!! *hug and passing beautiful disaster cocktails*
I still… I’m just… *sob*
I’ll take the hug and cocktail, Cheryl. *sniffle* Thank you, sweet lady.
*looks at iPad open to HTKAR*
GAH!! Mmpff… *snuggling into Maryse* Sorry about snuffling on your top. *sniffle*
What’s a little soggy snuffle between friends? 😉
Okay. *sniff* I’m okay now. Have to get up in four hours but I finished it.
*shuddery breath*
I. Loved. It.
Luffs to you ladies for getting me through it! 😀
Yay Amy!!!
Amazing right?! I sobbed. Was a wreck. But it’s one of my all time favorite books. Unforgettable, that one.
Omg you guys! I was MIA this weekend and loved reading all your comments just now! Can’t believe I missed all the “deep and hard” conversation!! Lol!
Just finished Faefever last night! (Cheryl how the heck did you finish the Fever series so fast?) Think I will take a break to read Deeper (like Amy, I need some lovin’)…..I remember bev recommending Deeper and was interested then!
Becoming Calder/Finding Eden and Stepbrother Dearest are really getting a lot of mixed reviews….. Hmmmmm….
Fabi, I immediately 1-clicked Havoc…. hope to read it this week. I’ll let you know what I think.
Jean, heads up on Havoc. Someone above said it’s a big cliff hanger.
Thanks Fabi! I will put that one aside for now…… hate cliffhangers!
Wanted to thank you for recommending the Fever series Fabi! I am loving it and got my girlfriend hooked too! It’s very addictive!
Fabi – I think you just were attracted to “Havoc” because the author’s name is Xavier!!!! LOL!!!! (gotta tease you a little)….. the blurb sounds good (all those fails and epic fail) – but a big cliff hanger? no thank you. Ain’t nobody got time for dat!
Laura – you wrote, “I’m assuming the highlander (I think that’s what it is) that u all talk about is ment to be Scottish is it? I haven’t read it are they any good?”
How did I miss this comment? The “Highlander” novels we usually reference are the ones written by Karen Marie Moning. Are they any good? THE BEST!!! Alpha males, kilts, accents, sassy girls, Fae magic…. it’s got it all. Can’t go wrong there.
Bev – I just downloaded Bewitching by Barnett. You mentioned it and the blurb sounded good – for my next PNR + historical fix. 🙂 (you’re on a roll with the recommendations).
Michelle S have not read it yet, but it does sound like a fun read. Really should get to it.
Have you started Harder? There is a definite difference in tone between the two books.
HTKARS *was* amazing, Maryse! It about killed me last night, but it was one of those why-did-I-wait-so-long-to-read-this books. *sigh*
Now what to read…Carnage? Definitely not Havoc ’cause of the cliffhanger. Oh! I still need to read Chasing Abby. Or Redemption. Or What We Leave Behind. Wasn’t there a book with a neglected (I think?) housewife who is hot for the younger gardener? Anyone remember that one? Or More Than Forever, but apparently I have already read the first book in that series and forgot that I did (the sharpest knife in the drawer I am not ;)) so I would need to read books 2 and 3 before that one because I’m OCD like that.
What are you ladies reading right now?
Oh, wait! I forgot about Deeper…
Amy, I think it was Second Chances by H.M. Ward….she hooks up with the very young lawn boy!!! I liked it!
How could you have forgotten about Deeper and Harder??? Haha!!!! But seriously you should start Deeper with me today!!! Taking a break from Fever series! (And yes, I still need to read Chasing Abby too)!!!
Ok!! Finished deeper!!! Need to get onto harder *sniggers* I liked it but it reminded me more of lolly of the valley have u all read that?
Oh I haven’t read HYKARS either should I? Amy are u ok? It’s 16.36 here if it makes u feel better?
Michelle ooooo ok I will really have to try highlander series now sounds like fun!! Are u going to read harder? Think I need to know how this goes
Lilly is said LILLY not lolly damn u autocorrect!
M’kay, Jean…Deeper it is. *snicker* That’s what *he* said. 😛
Laura, YES you should read it! I loved it. So, it’s *almost* 5 o’clock there…wait, are you trying to get me to drink already?!?!? *hee hee* Woman after my own heart. 😉
Hmmm I don’t know if it’s a good idea for u to drink yet cause by the time we are drunk it will be my bed time but it will only be ur lunch hour lol I don’t think that would go down well
Ok now I don’t know what to do start the highlander or go harder pfft I can’t even help it. Advice?
You’re welcome Jean. I ended up starting a re-read of it since so many of you were reading it. 🙂
I was going to jump on the Deeper bandwagon, but now I’ve started MichelleS’s great recommendation, Lord of the Fading Lands. Can not put it down! Great fantasy book.
I’ve read Moning’s Highlander series. Many years ago now, but it still remains one of the best ever historical romances I’ve ever read. I highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for that kind of read.
I keep seeing great reviews for More Than Forever…. I downloaded (but did not read) the first one a while ago. Does anyone know if these are standalones or do they have to be read in order? Just wondering and hoping not to squirrel from Deeper!
I need a drink today and it is my lunch hour now! We should be closed today for Columbus Day……not fair….blah!
Oh I will just drink for u all then!! Just kidding lol
Ok I think I will start the highlanders now then maybe read harder after for a little break?!
Laura, Moning’s Highlander series is a collection of related but stand alone novels, so it’ll be easy to read in between them if you feel like it.
Jean, I’m pretty sure it’s one of those series where each book is related but about different characters, and reading them out of order might spoil earlier books.
I have to say that I am leaning more and more away from that type of series as I pretty much know ahead of time that there will (like 99.5% of the time) be a HEA, and for me that takes the fun out of the angsty journey. I *love* not knowing how things are going to turn out, hence my freak outs over spoilers. I’m not saying that I *never* want to know ahead of time about the HEA (even I need those guaranteed endings sometimes after reading an intensely-angsty and emotionally-exhausting read), but the majority of the time I want the full experience of the unsurety of the story, ya know?
Alright, off my peanut platform. I’m off to hit some Columbus Day sales and then coming home and diving into…well, still not sure. And Jean is not helping any. 😛
Yes, Bev – I went straight from “Deeper” to “Harder” (snicker). It definitely has a different feel and flavor. More serious. Less snarky. But I like the drama and mood.
Fabi – you went for the fantasy fix eh? Best Fae book ever! There, I said it. I know I will get booed since we are all Fever fans. But Rain, the ancient King of the Fae and the world she weaves….. phenomenal! So glad you’re giving it a go.
Ok started the highlander book 1 I’m going in kind of blind only going off what u have all told me not that far into it just at the 1st Seattle scene which was surprising! But the only Scottish I’ve got so far is lasses which of course mean us girlies we will see what else we get
Michelle what is the outlander thing u all talk about aswell?
Laura – believe it or not, booke one was my least fave in the Highlander series, but it is still great! Just know they get crazy good after that.
Outlander – by Diana Gabaldon. She wrote it like 25 years ago, with follow ups every few years. We are up to book 8, which just came out. Very beloved series because of the love between Claire and Jamie. It was finally made into a mini series which premiered this summer on STARZ channel. My personal favorite historical romance. A long, but wonderful comittment.
Michelle S thinking about this I wonder if because of the difference in their backgrounds and how they view the world. One book having a Caroline feel and one a West feel.
Bev – I think that it’s good she went for a more somber feel in book two. As a relationship develops and is more serious, the tone should change. I don’t mind at all, because it’s just as gripping and real. End of funeral scene just happened. I hate him and his stupid beat up truck!
Man I’m so behind on these books ok highlander 1st then harder than look into outlander I wonder if it’s on here in the uk?
Thanks Amy….. now I know I have to read it in order…. It’s just a thing with me, I have to read from the beginning of the series. And I get it with the HEAs….. sometimes I need them, but most of the books that stick with me and love ended in an unexpected way that make them hard to forget…..ya know? So that being said, I am starting Deeper right now… No squirreling!
Ok I checked out if it’s coming out here in the uk well mainly Scotland and some places where saying it was being held back because of the whole Scottish independence vote ….. Yep not touching that I will just wait see
Laura, I thought the independence thing had been settled a couple or more weeks ago? Scotland choosing to stay as part of the UK. Is there still more voting to come?
No fabi it’s still a no and no more voting thank god but apparently because outlander features a lot of Scotland no one wanted to show it as it might have boosted the yes vote. The way people think honestly I’m sure it’s a fantastic show/book but I doubt it would sway a Scottish persons vote lol
Outlander was a series I had a hard time getting through. I finished it. I think. But it took me forever. Then again, I’m the one who couldn’t finish the Game of Thrones series either. So, yeah, I’m definitely a minority.
That scene surprised me and yet I think I understand where it was coming from. Hated it though.
I am loving Deeper you guys! Definitely has that Beautiful Disaster feel!
Maryse I just have to tell you that your review of You: A Novel is so spot on for me after reading almost 80% so far. The writing is intelligent and the point of view is fascinating even when it’s creeeeeeppppy. It’s a weird book for me though, since with what I just said, I should be hooked but I keep putting it down even if it is thought provoking. It’s missing something to fully engage the reader and I can’t even put my finger on what that is *shrugs* Great review for this one though 🙂
Jean, I’m so glad you are liking it. And relieved, lol.
Oh Michelle loving the highlander!!!! It’s reminding me a bit of KA’s fantasyland series obviously not golden dynasty but the first one I’m loving it thank u!!
Jean I flew thru the fever series because I had the flu last weekend and all I did was sleep and read. Good times!!
Not sure what I’m reading next, although all the talk about Deeper has me thinking about that one next. I’m listening to Tied and it is hilarious!! It’s in Drew’s POV and I think hearing it narrated in a male voice makes it that much better. I’m laughing out loud while listening!
Laura – so glad you are enjoying it – one of my all time favorite series – if you stick with it – just wait until you meet the MacKeltars!!! and Adam Black – right ladies?
I am about 60% into Harder. Loving it. Different feel. More emotional. Love their exchanges. So real and painful.
Adam Black *swoon*
Adam Black!! Laura those books were such fun. And different in the mix of genres than anything I had read at that time.
I wonder what KMM has planned for after she wraps up the Fever series especially since she condensed it.
Home and now dinner and then back to Red Fox. I’m about the 40% mark.
Seriously these two have some luck, lol. If it’s dark and scary they are running to it.
Still loving it but not really swooning for Adam swooning for hawk though 😉 why didn’t I ever know about these books?!
Laura – Adam gets his own book eventually – by then you will drool over him. You’re supposed to be hating him early on. JUST WAIT!!!
That’s what I am looking for – that “why didn’t I know about these books” feeling. When it happens – there’s nothing better.
Book two is great too – I think she was figuring the series out early on. It’s all about his friend, Grim and a super feisty Jillian. So fun. Makes me want to read it all over again. Keep checking in with us – I know I love hearing about anyone’s first time with Karen M Moning!!!
Laura, I 2nd what Michelle said. In early books you’re meant to not like Adam. But as the books go on. Whooeee, Adam Black = hotness I love that series you’re reading.
But I’m also having one of those “can’t believe I’ve never heard of this” moments with Michelle’s recommendation of Tairen Soul. I’m reading Lord of the Fading Lands and can. not. put. it. down.
Laura… did you start Deeper? I’m in!!!
I am loving Deeper Maryse…at 40%. It’s one that I am having a hard time putting down…. but stupid work got in the way this morning!!!! I am definitely feeling the sexual tension!!!!
I’m at 51% of Deeper. Did anyone get teary eyed for her when they were on the roof? Maybe I’m just overly emotional today. Yeah, that’s it.
Ooh!!! I just remembered it’s Tuesday release day and martini night!! 😀
Yes Amy! I am loving West! Their bakery moments….just ahhhh!!
Hey, back to the Fever series…. There’s just something about V’lane!!! Am I right?
Dreading new release Tuesday…. I am so overwhelmed with my TBR right now, it’s ridiculous. OK, see you on the next thread!
MI hells I just finished it oh I loved it feck harder it will have to wait to m going straight to book to I’m so excited!!! Oh I could have punched Adam black! And can I just tell u all that yes true Scotsmen don’t wear anything under their kilts even now lol imagine that at ur wedding!!
Maryse I’ve already finished it lol it was good though and I really will read harder soon once I’m done with the Scotsman!!
Fabi I can’t even like Adam right now the evil swine!! Amy what’s on the list for drinking tonight? It’s 6pm here ur late!
That was also ment to say Michelle at the start I’m so done with autocorrect
lol Laura. Now you know why some of us in the states are so crazy over your Scottsmen. With books like the Highlander series, can you blame us?
Lol fabi I don’t know how people got anything done in those days with so many men going commando under a skirt it’s mayhem at a wedding and that’s with only acouple in kilts not so good when it’s ur older family members and the kids think it’s funny to pull them up that’s traumatising lol
Jean, I’m torn between V’lane and Barrons…at least V’lane is trying to get some action!!
Oh my lord, Laura…”feck harder”????? 😯 LOL!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah ok I opened myself up for that one lol
Love Jean’s “see you in the next thread” comment – because, uh, yeah – we’ve run out of room on this one!
Men in Kilts, what is and is not under them, Karen M Moning, V’lane vs Barrons, Adam Black…. my kind of talk ladies!!!! Cannot wait to hear Laura’s thoughts on this series.
V’lane brought my much needed smut to the Fever series because that dang Barrons was too aloof for too long, dang it. I think that’s why I liked him so much, it was like “finally!!! death by sex… woohoo”.
Amy – yup – teary eyed on the roof – but wait until book two – you’ll get your angsty touchy feely kleenex time then. Book one was lots of good “her thoughts” stuff (I think I highlighted something on every other page that she said or thought).
See you all in the next thread, like Jean said…. that dreaded Tuesday ginormous list thread….. I’m not even going to look at it!
And Fabi – yay AGAIN that you took the leap of faith on the Tairen Soul series. All this Fae talk is making me jealous.
I know Michelle Fae are the best. Although shifters come in a close second.
Thanks so much for the great recommendation. I’ll be reading the whole series.
