Happy Friday and I hope everyone has a fun-filled weekend and/or a relaxing reading weekend. If you’re looking for some reading suggestions, I’ve got a bunch below! 😀
Oh! And while I’m here, for those of you wanting a change of pace (book-wise) I read this really er… “inspirational” one (not religious, though) this week. A Winter Dream: A Novel by Richard Paul Evans. It’s not our usual (not a romance book) BUT!! It had the heartbreak, the romance, the heartbreak, the family drama, the rock bottom and the mega-ending. VERY GOOD read, gorgeously written (at first, I thought it was a real-life auto-biography, it was so personal), and just so enlightening. Personal growth and all that. Good stuff (even if parts of the ending were a little hard to believe, but still, the message as a whole? Just so ahhhhhh, you know?)
And!! There are a few below that look far from inspirational, but full on guilty-pleasure like. 😉 *giggle* Like that one up there to the left (Jacked – cop romance YAY!!) and Rock Me Hard (ROCK STAR interview and he broke her heart once…) and DEBT (OMG THAT BLURB!!!! Sounds like one of those kind of darkish… fetishy books – on HER part, at least… but he’s looking for revenge) and Playing for Love at Deep Haven (another heartbreaker rock star…) and Such a Pretty Girl (not at all on sale – sorry guys but I couldn’t help but post this one – ’cause that blurb gave me scary goosebumps). Flawed (just… EEEEEP!!!!!!) Oh and! Love’s Suicide (sounds SO angsty!!!).
Also: bikers below on super-sale (including one of my absolute FAVORITES), actually a few of my 5-star favs are down there, and some sweet-sounding ones, and one about a girl from the streets lured into a sect!! Aptly entitled “The Sect“. LOL!! Okay this is gonna be fun!
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Also, while these bargain finds and new releases “look” great (and/or have awesome reviews and recommendations), unless I have my own personal review link next to it, I likely haven’t read it myself… I just found it and wanted to share it in case it’s awesome. So if you read it, let me know if it’s awesome. LOL!
NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order.

WHOA!!!!!!! I wanna read this next! *gasp*!! “—-> “I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it. It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over. Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life.“
- It Ain’t Me, Babe by Tillie Cole <— Much loved biker book/escape from a cult book on super-sale right now! Angela found out it’s on super-sale today: “Have you read “it ain’t me babe” yet? I reread it @ least once a month. Really hope you love it too. Book 2 out soon. But no cliffhanger, book 2 is other couples….you’ll get it @ the end.” (here’s my review).
- Playing for Love at Deep Haven by Katy Regnery <— A ROCKER & A WRITER ALERT! Nancy found us this one!! “Here is a deal PLAYING FOR LOVE AT DEEP HAVEN. It is a story of 2nd chance love & fate bringing you together.” —> “Despite the years that have passed, chick-lit novelist, Violet, vividly recalls the pain of Zach’s rejection, and hates that she’s never been able to completely let go of the brooding boy who turned his back on her…“
- Nomad Kind of Love: Prairie Devils MC Romance (Outlaw Love) by Nicole Snow <— Aimee found us this BIKER BOOK on super-sale! “…not read this series but see great reviews — anyone had a chance to check out?” —> “June Daniels watched helplessly as the Grizzlies Motorcycle Club destroyed everything she ever cared about. The ruthless gang controls her shattered life, condemning her to darkness without end…until she meets him.” <— THE PRESIDENT of the MC…
- Love’s Suicide: Love’s Suicide by Jenn Foor <— SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT, and almost 600 pages! OH THIS SOUNDS GOOD!!! So she’s grown up with two brothers, always loved BOTH of them… but she chose one… broke them up. BUT “Brooks showed up to be our best man the night before our nuptials. After drinks and too much reminiscing, I ended up in bed with the wrong brother. To avoid the humiliation and the fact that I’d ruined all of our lives, I left Branch and the only family I’d ever known. That’s where my story should have ended. Almost three years, one beautiful little girl and an abusive marriage later, I was standing there staring at the man that would always hold my heart…“
- Fragments (Running On Empty Book 1) by M.R. Fields <— BROODING BAD BOY NEIGHBOR ALERT!! Recent release and recommended by Nicola: “I just finished Fragments by MR Field… Gotta love a brooding bad boy next door! Not to mention some seriously HOT action that gives you all of the feels…”
- Such a Pretty Girl by Laura Wiess <— Okay this one’s NOT on sale, and and not even a recommendation (unless you consider Amazon search results showing me this one..) But that blurb has me, so I’m posting it for those looking to read something so painful and dark… “Her father was supposed to be locked up until Meredith turned eighteen. She thought she had time to grow up, get out, and start a new life. But Meredith is only fifteen, and today her father is coming home from prison. Today her time has run out.“
- Flawed (The Butcher) by Francette Phal <— I *think* Di-Ann recommends this one. I say think, because she didn’t include the author’s name, and there are tons of books entitled Flawed, but saying there’s a cliffhanger and reading THAT awesomely creepy blurb makes me think it’s this. She says: “Just finished Flawed. Very dark, good flow and kept me interested. Kinda had a Captive in the Dark feel but darker. Big cliff hanger but no regrets about reading it. I can not wait until book 2! I have been waiting awhile for a good dark read!“
- Roam (Roam Series, Book One) by Kimberly Stedronsky <— MichelleS recommends this one!!! She didn’t *squirrel* or anything while reading the series! SOUNDS PERFECT! “This is the series that I just finished! Just loved it. 6 book total. Books 1-3 are Roam and West’s story… then a couple of stories of two other couples that are part of the central story…. then back to the beginning. It was unique and well written. Had everything I love in a PNR. Not too heavy on the PNR, BTW. I didn’t squirrel away from it, which surprised even me. I read them back-to-back. I highly recommend this series to fans of PNR that like a good build up and slow reveal and fantastic central characters. Had EVERYTHING: time travel, alternate universe, love triangle, teacher/student older/younger, secrets and more secrets….I don’t know how I missed this one.“
- NORMAL by Danielle Pearl <— Becky is asking about this one! “Hi Maryse, I was wondering if you have read Normal by Danielle Pearl? I don’t recall how I ran across it, but it has a lot of 5-star ratings.” I haven’t Becky but I’m gonna check out the blurb right now… and WOW YES the reviews look amazing! “Rory is broken, and now suffering from a debilitating anxiety disorder, wrought with precarious triggers, she moves across the country to escape the source of her troubles. Her plan is anonymity, but that’s easier said than achieved for the new girl having a panic episode outside of calculus. The worst part? There’s a witness – and a gorgeous one at that.” <— Yep! Sounds like it’s for us!

Thicker Than Blood by Madeline Sheehan and Claire C Riley is up for pre-order on most platforms, too!
Thanks Amy! I’m adding it. 😀
Gee Maryse I was overwhelmed with the releases from tuesday, now there’s so many more I want to one-click!! Jacked, Caching In (I’ve geocached too), Love Me Tender, Amour Amour, Rock Me Hard series (how can I resist that title!), Debt, Love’s Suicide, Playing for Love at Deep Haven- seems’s like a lot of rock star books lately-yum 😉
Now the hard part is deciding what to read next!! 🙂
I think I wanna try Debt first!!!
But then again there’s that Hardwired series I bought book #1 of… so many good reviews for it.
Holy crap!! Today’s list has some freaking crazy-sounding stuff!!! 😀 There goes being a good girl and only clicking the samples…I just one-clicked at least a dozen from above. Oh well, I’ll just say I’m self-gifting. 😉
Look what I came across – Crossover: Franchise Mtg. by Tijan…a ton of characters from her books meeting up all in one place with some bonus scenes thrown in. Looks different and FUN! Mason. *dreamy sigh* I one-clicked that for whenever I get all caught up on her books. Which I will. Someday. No, seriously…I will someday. It’s Tijan, after all!
LOL! Self-gifting!! I like it!
I need to have a Tijan marathon too!
Amy I have also got most of Tijan’s books and plan to read them one day soon but there is so many more distractions come along the way sigh !!!
Have you read ‘Nomad kind of love’ ? I love really dark and gritty MC books and was wondering if this one of those guilty pleasure I love.
Okay Maryse, if you’re going to brave Debt, then I’m going in too!!!!
That’s right, you haven’t read the Fallen Crest series yet have you, Maryse? I say a Tijan marathon is *definitely* in order!!!
Shell, I haven’t read it yet but it looks like it would be worth a shot! Weren’t we going to do an MC buddy read? I’m thinking either that or the Nordic Lords series…and I love that you love dark and gritty MC books, too. 😉
I started Unteachable last night aaaaaaaaaand I’m pretty sure this is gonna be a good one. She’s effed up and cynical but not annoyingly so, it’s a teacher-student forbiddeny story, and I really, really like the writing so…yeah, I’m thinking I’m gonna fall in love.
I read the Nomad Kind of Love this morning….it was good. I haven’t read the others though.
Anyone know when Bella Jewel’s sequel to Til Death will be out? It was a full length book & didn’t hint @ a massive cliffhanger till the end. I was pissed!!! There was a note that read, “Sorry about the cliffhanger, don’t worry book 2 out in 2wks”. It’s been almost 3wks now!!!!! Where. Is. It!
Amy how do you do buddy read as I have never done that before.
Start reading it together and discuss, give support if it’s too dark ???
I would love to join you in MC buddy read if there is one going.
I wish I could explain why I love Tijan’s books so much. I feel like a cougar because the characters are in high school and I can’t helping lusting after them. If my 18 year old daughter knew what I’ve been reading she would give me the biggest eye roll and hide my iPad. Which by the way is why I started reading on my iPad. I didn’t want her to see my Fifty Shades of Grey books! Oh well. Only in books ok?
Why did I wait so long to read Ilona Andrews? Burn for me was so great. Now, I have to wait for #2.
Rock Me Hard (heehee) is book 1 of a trilogy & let me warn you…it veers off in a REALLY weird direction towards the end of the series. Without giving away too much…I’ll just say, it’s a love triangle…2 guys (band mates) & 1 girl….and…you know when you read a book with a love triangle & you think, “Huh, wish he or she could just keep both”? Well…….
Bev, have you read the Kate Daniels series? Insanely good series, as in one of the best pnr out there good.
Tracy, no worries. Mason and Logan transcends age. (That’s my excuse anyway.). Either that or I’m going to have to pretend Mason is 20 years older.
I decided anything that kept Michelle S that enthralled was worth trying. I just started Roam, so we’ll see.
Thanks Tessa – I was hoping I wasn’t alone! I picked up Roam as well and will most likely start it soon. I’m in the middle of Degradation.
Lauren, thanks for that info, had me at the love triangle, but then, hmmm not sure about that Rock series now…
I have to clarify that Roam and West’s story absolutely DOES NOT resolve in book three. Stupid stupid me – book 6 just made me shy of neurotic. I was a nervous mess. My poor husband had to hear all my rants and the whole story because it was just so unbelievable!!! My top read of 2014 for sure. The whole series. No stand alones. Sorry – you really do have to commit to the whole 6 books if you want this story in full.
I am in such a fog now. I don’t know what to do with myself. I started a couple, and I’m like…. “meh”…. I miss Roam and West and Logan and Eva and Violet…. so I picked up book one again. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? (I did this once – years ago – with Twilight when I finished the 4 books…. don’t judge me!!!)
Amy – read Unteachable over a year ago – and I remember liking it while I was reading it… just didn’t stick with me long….
Debt sounds kuh-ray-zee…. maybe that’s what I need to get out of my book fog. But I went ahead and started Song of Fireflies… 16% in and so far so good….
Then definitely glad I started Roam. 🙂
Tracy, I think on this site alone there are enough Mason and Logan fans to make a fan-site and most of us aren’t in our teens. 😛
I don’t know how you missed Roam either. It is one of the best series I’ve ever read!
Debt was a-freakin-mazing! It snuck in to my top 5 books of the year and Tax is one scorching hawt alpha! You won’t be disappointed!
I can’t say enough great things about this series. The Rock a Romance Series Boxed Set is currently on sale for $1.99! The series follows a band, “Steele’s Army”, on and off your. Each book follows a band member in their quest to overcome their past and find their future in love. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NDYO0BA

Thank you Amber for this recommendation. These books seems amazing. Just 1-clicked.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. The series is a roller coaster of emotion, the series made me a big fan of A.L. Wood.
Amy, thought of you when a friend was talking about the SOA ending and amazed I had not watched it and shared this link with me. How did I not watch SOA. 7 seasons?! Holy hot bum!! Wow, Charlie Hunnam- sigh!
https://mynewplaidpants.blogspot.com/2014/12/hunnams-bum-wont-say-bye.html#more
Now the hard part, deciding what to read next.
Read the first chapter of a couple books but not what I wanted.
Yep, you got the right Flawed! Sorry for the confusion but I stayed up late to finish and I want to let you all know my thoughts. Really enjoyed it.
Cheryl, my girlfriends & I had a debate going about whether Charlie Hunnam used a butt double or not (or Chibs, or Tig….etc). We Googled it & found out that NONE of em use a double…..mmmm, mmmm. Nice.
Carter Reed by Tijan is my favorite. There’s an anthology that just came out called Foreplay & Carter Reed is one of the books. Jake Undone, Worth the Fight….and a few more. I’ve read all the books in this anthology & all are excellent!!!
Last night I stayed up all night reading Erasing Faith by Julie Johnson and LOVED it!! It’s a new second chance love story with a drool-worthy alpha hero and a sassy heroine. Would totally recommend!!
😯
*blink*
😯
For the love of all things thrusting…my panties just combusted. “Fire crotch” has a whole new meaning for me.
I remember those particular scenes but seeing them on a loop like that…whew!!!! 😛
Lauren, was Nomad Kind of Love gritty? Like, Sheehan gritty? And oh, wow…I had forgotten about Till Death but dangit if I didn’t just move it up on my list!!
Tracy, I think “only in books” is our slogan around here. 😉
Shell buddy reading is fun! Usually we just kind of jump in at the same time and rant or vent or use “cryptic talk” with each other (so we don’t spoil anything for others). What’s really fun is when a bunch of the ladies all decide to read the same book which makes us end up in a blankie cave snuggling my stuffed manatee…now THAT is fun!!!
Amy this idea of Buddy read sound real fun and I am sure makes the reading experience more memorable but where do you ladies chat ? On Facebook ? I am not on Facebook, if you do then I will just have to sign up.
Lauren – thank you for the heads up on that anthology! Great price I just one click ed it.
I found a book to read. Since I am still obsessed with all things Roam, I found a spinoff series that the author started about one of the best characters, Eva. It’s called Eighth Note (Fire Ballad One). Murder mystery. She is bored now that all the world saving is over, so she gets tangled in this new mess. Yay for me. Don’t have to leave that world just yet.
Sarah- the cover for Erasing Faith is interesting! Have to add that one to my list!! 🙂
Damn… More one-clicks again! My TBR is starting to look insane. Thanks Amber for the heads-up on that rocker series. I just grabbed it too. I read Falling Down and Blush yesterday after Cheryl recommended them on the last list. I enjoyed them & this box set could carry on the rocker theme.
I’m on team Mason too! Which if I really thought about it would be weird since my son is that age. Gah! Oh, well… I’ll go look at Charlie Hunman’s ass a few more times to make myself feel better.
Sweet lord have mercy! I absolutely LOVED Debt! Give me more Tax!
Just finished Ripped. It was an angst filled sad, turbulent ride. A well-written, angry, love-story full of misunderstandings and hope for second chances.
Whew, now what to read next. I guess I could back track and read Real, since that’s on my tbr and I just jumped a head in the Real series.
Oh oh bev so I have finished all aisling greys and I moved onto the silver dragons loved them as aisling and everyone is still in them then also went on to the light dragons so um yeah I read them all lol so greatful for that recommendation!!! I’m on a complete PNR kick now sooooo I think I’m going with michelleS rec and going to start roam!!!
Cheryl yours is the first feedback for ripped I’ve seen on Maeyse’s blog. Thank you for sharing. That book just keeps calling my name. I read Real and loved it.
Laura I read Roam on MichelleS’ recommendation and agree with her that it’s really good. So crazy twisted. 🙂
Laura you and Michelle are crazy fast readers, lol. I have the first silver book in pb, nice to know Aisling and co. are a part of it. Just read, and loved, Burn for Me by Ilona Andrews. I think I’m going to probably go on a glom of her Kate Daniel’s series after Christmas.
Shell, we usually just come on here and leave comments…and it gets quite entertaining when one of us has a freak out over something we’ve read. *giggle* I’m still working on Unteachable (and *still* loving it!! :D), and I want to start an MC book next but then I keep hearing about Debt and now I’m torn! *side-eyes Jean*
“Oh, well… I’ll go look at Charlie Hunman’s ass a few more times to make myself feel better.” <——– LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
Maryse, even though the new look threw me off at first and I thought I had been redirected to a bogus site (’cause my mind goes to weird places like that ;)), I do have to say that it looks great! 😀
LOL! Yah i like my usual look too. 😉 That was just a test for “mobile” users… We’ll have a sort of re-direct that will show that version for mobile. Maybe.
The new look threw me off too! I closed my browser 3 or 4 times to be sure. Makes it easier to check in on my iPhone, for sure!! I miss the pink, though….
Odd it looks the same on my phone.
Yup looks the same on mine. Maybe need to close and reopen
Maryse- the new look threw me off too. I’m not sure about it- guess it’s what you get used to. Not sure about the white.
Fabi & Cheryl – I also finished Ripped and agree with the comments. Of the series my favorite was actually Rogue. I really like Real, but did not like Mine or Remy near as much. Ripped as a little more painful than I usually enjoy, but really came together for me about the last 25%.
Using firefox browser, I see no changes in the look. hmmm…
Oh oh I’m allergic to pain and painful books make me really uncomfortable. I think Ripped just dropped a notch down on my reading urgency.
Have to put my book down and do not want to. Just started A Lady Awakened by Cecelia Grant. So far so very good.
Quick update: Frenched by Melanie Harlow and Fate Book by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff are FREE right now.
Another book I really liked, The Remedy for Love by Bill Roorbach is 1.99 today only. I will put a disclaimer on this rec though since it has mixed reviews and I easily understand how it’s one of those book that you ‘get’ and find meaning in or you can hate it. I ‘think’ those that didn’t like it probably wanted a traditional love story but it’s not at all but instead a complex layered character study. Still really different and inspired for me.
Fabi I wouldn’t say Ripped is painful. It’s has more of a sad undertone, if that makes sense.
Michelle, thanks I one-clicked Fate Book. (Have read Frenched). Did you read Fate Book #2?
Thanks Cheryl. That makes sense because Real and Mine were very sad or maybe poignant is the better word. Heartbreaking fits too. Sounds like Ripped follows along the same lines? Gah! Those books were so good! I’m punishing myself by holding off on Ripped.
Thanks Michelle. I wanted to read both and haven’t gotten around to buying them yet.
Fate Book is FREE???? I say grab it while you can – I LOVED it!!! Funny and exciting and a bit of a mystery thrown in – wow!! free????
Cheryl, no I haven’t read either but had them on my wishlist so was excited to see them at the perfect price 😉
Ughhh I finally got Station Eleven from my library after being on hold for so long and I can’t download the ebook for some reason. You can read it in your browser but that’s so annoying and tedious – this is my luck today!
I am continuing with my Kimberly Stedronsky love-fest (the author of Roam series)…. now I am reading her Movie trilogy series…. so so so so good. SQUEE!!! I am thrilled that I found an author that I know will deliver. This is how I was with KA a couple of years ago, and she could do no wrong – I loved her PNR and her contemporary and fantasy – and it is turing out to be the same with Ms. Stedronsky.
Also read the spin-off from Roam, the Fire Ballad series – totally reminded me of Experiment in Terror series, big time.
Still in my book fog and adding to my collection. Haven’t read another author since discovering her… you’d think I was her literary agent, huh? heehee
Fabi, poignant and heartbreaking are definitely better descriptions of Ripped. 🙂
MichelleS, the movie trilogy sounds really good, but it isn’t complete yet is it?
Michelle let me know what you think of Station Eleven. I’ve been wanting to read it.
I’m excited as I just saw a book challenge on a blog and think I’m going to do it for 15. It’s 24 challenges. I use to be more diverse in my genres but for the last couple years. So hoping it will open my reading up a little one.
Sure Bev I will post when I finish it – finally got it to download after like an hour of tinkering around so it better be good!
Oh Bev you read Burn for Me – I need to get to that one too since I’m already a HUGE Ilona Andrews fan after the Kate Daniels series. I’ve already sang its praises but you definitely will like it!
Laura I liked the the first book in the Roam series as well. I want to continue with the series for sure.
Michelle, yes I kept looking at it on my kindle and one day it just seemed like what I was in the mood for. But I’m spoiled by independent authors and so want the next right now, lol.
MichelleS, apparently I bought Below Unforgiven back in January. No memory of this but excited I have it in my tbr.
Bev – I am now reading book two in that series and still loving it. I keep making my husband listen to the dialogue between two men in the story – can’t get enough of it. Hope when you do read it that you like it as much as I do!
hey did you read The Decimation of Mae by DH.Sidebottom ?seems like something you might like im not as much of a dark fan but i realy liked Debt and The Sect , The Sect had very gory scines and its the mother of all mindfucks
Hey Maryse. Have you had a chance to read Debt by Nina G Jones yet? I just passed the sample portion and its soooo good!
