It’s darn good!! And a few recent releases have been taste-tested and HIGHLY approved, plus, some super-bargain finds that are too great to resist! PLUS my sister made a book recommendation, too! Once I read the blurb, and she told me about it, I immediately thought it would a be a great one to add to the Book Recommendations like “Game of Thrones” and “Golden Dynasty” (I posted it below 😀 ).
So just to name a few and excite you (and me) with the awesome reading potential below… we’ve got a post apocalyptic book where women are a commodity, we’ve got heartbreaking slut-shaming, we’ve got the brand new sequel to a popular psych-thriller book, we’ve got fantasy-book-genre Mr. Alpha McGrumpsalot coming through mirrors and taking us, we’ve got military men that we’ve just fallen in love with, about to be deployed, we’ve got a heroine with early onset Parkinsons that falls in love with a super-star, we’ve got co-workers that accidentally “did it” one night and are now trying to set some rules (tee hee!!) we’ve got a hot neighbor trying to set up us with his brother, we’ve got a moody millionaire that had sex with us one night, and now we’re marrying his father… *snort* and much more! I LOVE this kind of book fun!!
OH AND! I’m posting the Kindle Fire, 7″ Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB – Includes Special Offers, Black release again, ’cause the deal is too great!
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything! )
EBOOK BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order).
- Illuminae (The Illuminae Files) by Amie Kaufman <— JUST RELEASED DYSTOPIAN & TONS OF BUZZ ON THIS ONE! I’ve been seeing this one mentioned with HUGE LOVE on my Facebook wall by some of my favorite authors and Tasha brought it to our attention… “I have my eye on Illuminae by Aime Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Have any of you heard of this? Thoughts??” And fabi is excited!! “*quickly back from Amazon* O downloaded a sample of Illuminae. Gah! It sounds good!” And a bit from the blurb: “A deadly plague has broken out and is mutating, with terrifying results; the fleet’s AI, which should be protecting them, may actually be their enemy; and nobody in charge will say what’s really going on. As Kady hacks into a tangled web of data to find the truth, it’s clear only one person can help her bring it all to light: the ex-boyfriend she swore she’d never speak to again…“
- Until I Met You by S.L. Scott <— JUST WENT LIVE!! NO ONE APPROVED OF THEM TOGETHER ALERT!! “Taylor Barrett was looking for answers in a universe that had abandoned him. Jude Boehler flooded her dark world with charisma and mystery, drawing everyone into her hurricane. It was a most captivating of love affairs. They were shooting stars, meteors in the sky, colliding to create a spectacularly wonderful reckless romance, leaving them breathless and tethered…” Sounds intense!
- The Starkest Truth (A Breaking Insanity Novel Book 2) by Courtney Lane <— JUST RELEASED PSYCH THRILLER DARK READ and Ela just found it for us!! Ela: “Maryse, did you see Courtney Lane released the sequel to The Sordid Promise: The Starkest Truth (A Breaking Insanity Novel Book 2)”

Dane is now cold and unapproachable, and he’s determined to get rid of her.“
- The Princess Paradox by Carey Torgesen <— JUST RELEASED & SOUNDS LIKE FUN! SHE HAS A CRUSH ON HER NEIGHBOR, BUT HE WANTS TO SET HER UP WITH HIS BROTHER… “…he doesn’t go for women like her. He dates knockouts. But his flirtatious manner and dimples-to-die-for are sure making her consider the possibility of becoming his princess. Which is why Nora is more than a little disappointed when Aidan reveals he answered the ad for his brother, Finn. Unsure of what fate has in store, Nora figures ‘what the hell?’ and agrees to the blind date…” and then the blurb indicates that things go VERY well, even! BUT then her neighbor starts looking at her for real… OOOH! 😀

No. Not until I fly to the other side of the world and discover the girl I fell for has kept a very big secret from me…“
- Unconditional: Always 1 by Cherie M Hudson <— HERE’S BOOK #1 (I think about a different couple), AND IT SOUNDS SO GOOD TOO!!!! She’s in her early 20’s and has early-onset Parkinson’s disease & falls for a super-star who’s also the hottest guy on campus… “So that means my heart and my soul are off-limits. But then I traveled to Australia on a college scholarship program and life royally screwed me over. I know it’s going to be a sob fest just like the other two books, but I’m going in when that book hits my kindle. One of my favorite series of all times!!!”
- Invisible Love Letter by Callie Anderson <— SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH A WOMANIZING HEARTBREAKER MUSICIAN!! “I swore I wouldn’t be my parents. I swore I would stay away from the limelight. Falling in love with a musician was definitely out of the question. Weston Carter was all kinds of wrong for a girl like me. He was musician, a womanizer, and a first class heartbreaker…”
- Floored (Frenched: Erin and Charlie) by Melanie Harlow
- Fire Inside: A Chaos Novel by Kristen Ashley <— KRISTEN ASHLEY BAD BOY BIKER ALERT!!! AND OMG!!! OMG!!!! I loved this one and the next book in the series is coming out on Tuesday! (I posted it below in the pre-orders)!!!! *happy wiggle* <— too lazy to get out of my chair to dance so I’ll wiggle with glee instead. 😛 P.S. Here’s my review!
- The Shameless Hour (The Ivy Years Book 4) by Sarina Bowen <— HEARTBREAKING SLUT-SHAMING ALERT! Sofia recommends this one! “I’m LOVING The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen, one of her Ivy Years series. The heroine is slut-shamed and it’s breaking my heart. I can’t put it down“
- More Than Water by Renee Ericson <— CO-WORKERS HAVE AN AGREEMENT ALERT! And it’s on sale and sounds like some romantically angsty fun! “EJ Cunning, an art history major, dates musicians. Foster Blake, a chemical engineering major, can’t sing a tune. They’re not each other’s type. They’re coworkers. Then, one night leads to sex—sex between friends—which leads to an agreement. It all seems so simple—but nothing ever is…“
- City Beautiful by CM Foss <— WHOA! So many awesome reviews for this one, and I mean practically all 5 stars and SO MANY, and the blurb didn’t jolt me, but the reviews ARE jolting me. It’s listed as a romantic comedy…
- The Mirror of Her Dreams (Mordant’s Need) by Stephen R. Donaldson <— My sister’s LOVE STORY recommendation… she says it’s fantasy and she writes sooooooo beautifully, until she realized “she was a he” author, when we looked up the book. LOL!!! So… what she loved about the story is (in her own words as I typed): “…that the woman is in our normal world and then she goes across with that kind of “rogue magician” who’s not always nice at the beginning, and of course she finds that this new environment is difficult to adjust to with her mindset.” Basically he comes out of her mirror at takes her!!! Of course she had to read the sequel and she enjoyed it too!! YAY US!!! Hrmmmm…. it sounds a bit like when we were looking for more like “The Golden Dynasty” (Book Recommendations like “Game of Thrones” and “Golden Dynasty”)
- A Man Rides Through (Mordant’s Need) by Stephen R. Donaldson <— This is book #2… and yes they are not bargain priced by any means, but those wanting to read something like this, according to my sister they were great!
- The Hook Up (Game On Series Book 1) by Kristen Callihan <— Jackie HIGHLY recommends and it’s still on sale!! “Loved the first two books. Pre-ordering the third is a no brainer! Definitely has The Deal type vibe. Honestly in the first book, you’ll be hooked after the texting exchange.” and Tessa agrees! “The Hook Up is seriously everything I love in my HEA books. Angst, no over whiny, happy twirling moments, sad moments that make you want to hug everyone. It’s just wonderful.“
- Commodity by Shay Savage <—- YAY!!!! Post apocalypse and Tasha is LOVING this recent release! “Ok so I’m at 56% in Commodity, and OMG!! I’m nervous and anxious and I wasn’t expectng *that* to happen” and then… “I’m at 90% and I’m stopping for the night. But it’s so good! In my opinion it’s up there with Transcendence. Obviously a very diff story, but in a sense I get the same feels. I really like the characters and it’s similar like with the slight humor and still the seriousness of it and the romance and of course I love the whole apocalypse part. I’m especially liking it from about halfway on, even though I enjoyed the beginning as well.” and then… “Finished Commodity! And in only a little over a day whoo!! lol. I liked it very much and I think you guys will too. Ela, it’s a very small feeling of Transcendence. Really more just the feelings that I got and it’s been a long time since I’ve read it so I hope you aren’t disappointed! 4.5 -5 stars for me “
- Broken Pieces by Riley Hart <— M/M LOVERS THIS ONE IS MUCH-LOVED and Ana recommends it! “Broken Pieces by Riley Hart is so good that I wish I hadn’t already read it so I could read it again for the first time. Beautiful story, nothing like it from any other m/m books I’ve read.” and I SO loved a book from this author, so I KNOW this one will be awesome too.
- The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka <— And for our HALLOWEEN-MONTH, this oldie but goodie horror was brought back to our attention, I wanna read it!!! 😀 Ela says: “The Metamorphosis gave me nightmares back in high school!” and Amy agrees! “Ela, I can see why you would get nightmares, lol! When I was reading and analyzing it, I just kept wanting to take care of Gregor so he wouldn’t feel so sad. And I didn’t like his dad AT ALL.”
- The Murmurings by Carly Anne West <— MORE PSYCH-THRILLER/HORROR FUN!!! Amy is reading this one! “Trying to decide between The Murmurings and The Bargaining ’cause I’m in the mood for SPOOKY today!” and then… “For now I’m reading The Murmurings as my spooky read ’cause SOMEONE said something about The Girl With All the Gifts but then left me hanging. *hrmph* She knows who she is.” <— WHO ME????? Tee hee!!! Okay Amy… I wanna read The Girl With All the Gifts as soon as I’m finished Lev. Wanna??? And while I’m at it, let me look up “The Murmurings” ’cause that cover gives me ALL the heebiejeebie feels! *ooooomph* OMG YES!! Check out this blurb! “Everyone thinks Sophie’s sister, Nell, went crazy. After all, she heard strange voices that drove her to commit suicide. But Sophie doesn’t believe that Nell would take her own life, and she’s convinced that Nell’s doctor knows more than he’s letting on. As Sophie starts to piece together Nell’s last days, every lead ends in a web of lies. And the deeper Sophie digs, the more danger she’s in—because now she’s hearing the same haunting whispers. Sophie’s starting to think she’s going crazy too. Or worse, that maybe she’s not…” How are you liking this one, Amy?

Get Maryse’s Book Blog updates delivered by email (you’ll get one daily email that will have each post from that day consolidated on it).
Did you see Aly Martinez FB – Falling Up releasing 10/26?
WHAT WHAT WHAT!!!!!??????
Okay lemme look. YAY!!!!
Maryse, did you see Courtney Lane released the sequel to The Sordid Promise: The Starkest Truth (A Breaking Insanity Novel Book 2)
I am soo behind! 1-clicked a LOT on this list…off to check up on Tuesday’s list as I missed it!!
YAY ELA!! Okay I just added it, PLUS book #1! 😀 I LOVE psych-thrillers!
LOL Paula… I’m still reading Lev (and enjoying it) but I want to read a few thrillers badly!
Oh Maryse!!!!!!!!! The Sordid Promise was just wonderful!
I read Lev and I liked it, but didn’t LOVE it. And I sat on this for several days to figure out why. I think ultimately I loved Lev, the character, and would have enjoyed the book more if more of it was from his POV. He was so unique and original and different. I adored him. Meanwhile Mina was . . . just meh for me. I found her a little unrealistic. Way too well adjusted for someone who has been homeless for 7 years.
I am at 61% in Commodity and can’t breathe. So anxious about where this is going. Shay Savage CANNOT do wrong by me. She is definitely one of my favorite authors. I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did her other books. I’m not usually a post-apocalyptic fan. But this . . . . I’m fully invested and freaking out!! I love Falk, the hero, so much!
See K. C Lynn fb, new book out in November
That does it! I’m starting Commodity tonight.
Jen Frederick is starting a free serial story about Lainey & Nick- characters from the Charlotte Chronicles. I didn’t know, but this is how The Charlotte Chronicles started with her releasing an episode a week until it was complete-about a year. Can receive the episodes if sign up for her newsletter. https://jenfrederick.com/signup-for-the-newsletter/
I finished Thief. I’m in a book depression… fully prepared to enter a 12 step program, sweatpant wearing, bedhead sporting, downcast stare depressed 29 and holding… *cry* Why Tarryn Fisher… why?!?!??
*huddles Grey* Oh there there there sweet girl (you are a girl right?) *hands over a case of wine* BUT we did get that nice ending right RIGHT RIGHT?????????
*giggle* yes female and not so proud at the moment, as I look longingly at the tub of peanut butter smores ice cream in my freezer and declare it dinner. My children know nothing…they see nothing…
Alright, for Julie Kagawa fans (Iron Fey), the final book is coming out next Tuesday. So all worries of CH for the second half of the series can be relieved and read it peacefully without worry. (Okay, in everyone’s defense, I said don’t because the last book’s CH was BAD as far as CH angsty goes!)
I’ve missed a lot but ooohhhh Commodity I’m starting tonight as well, that one screams read me!
I’ve continued on with the Night Prowler novels since there are not many KU audiobooks in the pnr category and I’m still enjoying them. They are nothing beyond average though. I’m on book 3 which is my favorite so far. Read Lev and like Allison above I liked it but didn’t love it. For me, the story was too unrealistic. Lev was a great character but so much more could have been done with Nina. Right now, I’m finishing Red Queen – kinda like Red Rising meets The Selection. It’s very good and I will be continuing with that series. Oh and I’m totally team Cal!
So, I am about 40% into The Murmurings and can’t really say which way I think it’s going, but so far I’m liking it! A few minor creepy things have happened, nothing really scary, but it is interesting enough to keep me reading. We’ll see if it has a whollop coming (yes please!!) or if it will continue this way.
GAH Maryse! Are you being tempted away from TGWATG by Commodity?!? *whiny voice* Aw mannnnnn…
Grey…I remember being there after Thief. Crack open the wine and ice cream and dig in. Better yet, bring it in the blankie fort and we can all commiserate with you! TF’s endings are never 100% warm and fuzzy, but that’s what I love about her books… the unpredictable endings.
But was the ending perfectly imperfect for them or what? 😉
*waves to Michelle* hiiii book reader buddy, long time no see 🙂
I’m racing to finish my current book so I can start Commodity tonight too. I may have to read through the night to keep up with you.
Michelle, me too. I’m 100 percent team Cal.
Fabi I knew Commodity would hook you too! I still have 18% in Red Queen and I have to get in bed not too late since I’m working tomorrow. I will likely read like a chapter or two…seriously even if it’s amazing, I’m soooo exhausted that sleep comes first tonight. You will probably finish before me 😉
Tessa, I kinda know already what happens at the end and yeah even with the back and forth, I just liked Cal right from the beginning. I hope the next one comes out soon because I have so many series that I want to continue that I forget stuff sometimes if they take more than a year for the next book.
The Mirror of My Dreams… Golden Dynasty feel? Alternate Universe? Oh yeah. SOOOOOOOLD. (happy dance)
Shay Savage and Post Apocalyptic? I’m in. Commodity here I come.
Getting past such a giant slump right now. Hope one of these will do it. I actually borrowed a library book, Lora Leigh’s Nauti Deception, to try to just have some racy romance to clear my head. But not feeling it.
Maybe it’s all this rain that’s coming that has me excited about a new book? I’m in Texas and it doesn’t look like it will be dry for days.
Also considering moving on to Throne of Glass Book 3. Chaol is just such an amazing character.
Cooool. MichelleS join us for Commodity. I have 9% left in this book before I can start it. So it will be tonight for sure.
Finished Commodity. If anyone can make me love a post-apocalyptic sci-fi book, it’s Shay Savage. Never thought I’d see the day! She’s officially moved to the top of my fave author list, right next to JM Darhower!
Michelle, are you still working 12-hour days? It HAS been a bit since we’ve heard from you…good to “see” you again! Here ya go, this is what the drink of the night is… *hands over pumpkin pie martini* And I have an extra in case the martini snatcher is slinking around here. 😛
*sips own martini* Whew, STRONG!!! *shakes head and shivers*
I’m jealous of all of your rain, MichelleS!
Allison…if she can make us fall in love with a caveman, she can make us fall in love with just about anything. 😉
The rain here is a bit over the top Amy. I don’t know about Michelle’s area but our roads are closed due to flooding. I had to work from home today. (shhh, I snuck in a little afternoon nap)
I just looked up Mirror of her Dreams and it’s 14 dollars for Kindle!!! OH NO!! Need to find that site where you can borrow an lend books. What was it again? It’s not in my library’s catalog either. BOO.
Okay, I take it back…that kind of rain doesn’t sound too fun. Except for the afternoon nap.
Hmm…what to read, what to read…
I’d go for a bout of rain too… my herb garden is whimpering. Or maybe I could just… water it? *snort*
Lol Maryse.
MichelleS, that site is booklending.com
Michelle, February, 2016. She has a bunch of short stories coming out too. Pumpkin pie martini? *takes the extra one out of Amy’s hand* Thank ye!
I saw the price for Mirror of her Dreams and sent it to wish list too. That price is enough to make me wince. Here’s what’s funny. I remember paying 20+ for a book because it was an author I liked, and thinking it was worth it! Now, I’m like, twenty? For a book? Is it signed? *sighs* I’m spoiled.
*looks outside* I’ll take two feet of rain. We kind of need it here, big time.
*sips my yummy martini* just what I needed Amy! Yep I’m working some crazy shifts to fill in for another vet on leave up until the second week in December…it’s going to be a long haul!
Tessa, whew ok Feb 2016 is not too bad. Craziness is ensuing right now with this ending!
Yey love booklending.com – you still liking it Fabi? I put my lends down to 1 per week but I always get one like clockwork. I want to read Mirror of Her Dreams now too but gah I would never pay that much!
Okay, here’s my question – do you know when the next ‘Breaking Him (Love is War)’by RK Lilley book will be available? I’m waiting with baited breath!
ugh, Mirror of her Dreams is not lendable. We’re gonna have to actually pay for it. 😛
Oh, I didn’t think about that Tessa. Most of the big publishing firms make their books pricey AND not lendable.
I still love booklending Michelle. I got some of my favorite reads this year from there. (Kulti, For Real, a couple of the Fallen Crest books) I had to move my requests down to one a week too. I just don’t have that much reading time right now. Come on 2016! I like lending mine out too. I don’t have my full library in it yet. It’s a work in progress. They need to develop an import feature. (I should help them with that – lol)
In other news…I am about to start Commodity. squeeee
Thanks for the great list, Maryse 😉 I LOVE The Ground Rules Rewritten. I’m 40% into it and I don’t want it to end. Have anybody read The Girl With All the Gifts? Sounds creepy 😉 Is there any love in this story or is it a full heart thriller? * Creepy dance*
Marit, it just went on sale today, too!
Just finished The Absence of Olivia by Anie Michaels. I was really looking forward to this one. Looked like it would be loaded with angst. I had the tissues ready too! It was pretty good! Didn’t need the tissues and it didn’t quite end up where I was hoping it would, but worth the read. I give it a 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star rating and 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ star angst rating.
Marit, I LOVED TGRR!! I think? I know how this will end but I dont know if my heart can take it. I cant wait till the 3rd book releases!! Maryse, Jean have you started reading this yet?
I got to about 18% in Commodity last night. I did not want to put down…so I fell asleep holding my Kindle. Shay Savage can spin a tale!
Yeah Shirley. It’s soooo good!!! 😀 I’m also curious on how this will end? I feel like I love them both. *Angsty*
Marit, its for sure all kinds of Angsty! I know how I want it to end but Im soooo scared it wont end the way I want it to. Thats the thing with “love triangles”, I love them but if they don’t end up with the one I want, it makes me so sad and depressed! Ha!!
The Girl With All the Gifts is $1.99 today! 1-click!
I totally JUST one clicked this too, Jean. OMG I AM SO READY!!!! 😀
Loving The Ground Rules Rewritten!!!!
Grey, I remember feeling happily unsettled about the ending of The Thief. Come to learn that is classic Tarryn Fisher- good tempered with f&cked up!
Finishing up Beware 2.
Grey, with all your reactions, you are really making me want to reread the series. Cheryl, you’re right, no one writes like Tarryn.
I’m so confused. I downloaded Commodity all ready to start today during the long rainy weekend and then I got an email that my digital book is now available at the library that I’ve had on hold. ARGH! What to do, what to do? The other book is the latest novel in The Breeds series that I love so much. It came out in June, but her books are so pricey. First I have nothing now I have too many.
THAT is a hard choice Michelle. Could you knock ’em both out this weekend. If it’s any help, Commodity is a fast read. I’m already at 40% with the little reading I’ve done today. And you know how slow I read. About 1 book to y’alls 3 (or 5 in some cases). Lol
Ok done with work for today and I can get back to Commodity. Got to 19% last night quickly so yes I agree it seems like a fast read.
Oh and Tessa, I finished Red Queen and it was slightly predictable for me but I really enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next one! I have to say though that if you liked this kind of read, you NEED TO read Red Rising. Not that Red Queen was not very good, but Red Rising is amazing! I wish it was lendable since I would send it to you right now 😉
There’s a group read of Red Rising on GR that starts on the 26th. I’m going to join in but it’ll be just skimming for me since I’ve already read it twice. I need to look into Red Queen.
Janet, unknown when she will release Breaking Her. I know, major CH. 😛
Michelle, Red Rising is almost always available at my library. I just have so many library books to read. It’s kind of nuts. I returned Clockwork angel still unread. :/ So, eventually, I will, but I have to get through the rest of these.
I finally joined Book Lending. I loaned a lot already, since I had them. However, putting books I want on the list is taking me forever!
That’s the biggest drawback to booklending. You have to add your books one by one.
Michelle, does Falk creep you out sometimes?

I think I’m going with the audio version of Red Rising for the group read. I heard the narrator won something for his performance of the book.
Someone said Commodity was dual POV. I’m at 54% and it been wholly female POV. Does it change later in the book?
Finished Wicked Restless. It was good, and I liked it, but at the same time, I so wanted Andrew to remain that sweet kid we met in the first book.
Fabi – Commodity changes to Falk’s POV for second half. Squeeee! Really enjoyed that book!
Decided to The Ground Rules Rewritten…oooh god, Pretzel tummy, I have it! ouch! (In my masochistic phase I am preparing myself for The Queen on Tuesday… bring it Tiffany Reisz, I am SOOOO ready!)
Yep Grey, GRR is giving me the stomach pains just like the Thoughtless series did. Ugh!
I got distracted so only at 36% but yeah Falk for sure gives me a weird vibe…then again I do not know anything really about him yet so I’m super excited to get some of his POV!
That’s a fantastic idea to do the audio version of Red Rising – I did hear the narration was excellent. Tessa, seriously read it since you are missing out! Booklending.com is a pain to start on but now I haven’t added books in months after I built up a good list and still get loans without doing much at all. I like that it is a surprise when I open the email to see what book I got. Also I’ve read a lot of books I wasn’t sure about to try them out before buying or continuing with a series. There’s a lot that my library would never have.
Thanks for your list! I’ve just got Illuminae, which has been my most anticipated. And, I’m excited for Commodity, which gave me the same blurb jolt as when I read Transcendence back in the day.
Happy reading <3
The Ground Rules Rewritten… One Word. Hawaii. *there are no words to describe the pretzel-y tummy about the Hawaii chapters…whew…dang, I need a lie down*
Yep Grey, I’m right there with ya!
Rebecca, you’re in good company because Commodity is getting all kinds of love here!
Ladies who have finished GRR or know the answer…will the third book be a continuation after the second book or is it a different couple sort of thing? ‘Cause I am DYING to get my tummy all twisted up, but I am NOT in the mood to get into a CH-induced p!ssfit.
Amy, I have to admit you are pretty much left hanging on GRR…..grrrr….i know, but so worth reading…..loved it!!!
I’m at 56% in Kian and feeling all the feels. I love when a good book makes my chest tighten up. I’m like Walter in the movie The Money Pit when he gets trapped in the carpet in the hole in the floor.
“My chest is constricted!”
Stay strong Amy!! I’m trying to resist TGR until it is complete. Same characters for 3 books. As much as I want to read the tummy-twisting, angsty book, I know I don’t do well with CH and waiting. So many other books to read in the interim. *yep, that’s what I keep telling myself*
Finished TGRR…ackkkkk!!! I knew it *runs in a little circle* I hate cliffies, hate, hate, hate them!
I went with Commodity. Got to about 40% yesterday. Very fast read so far because it has my 100% attention. Falk is not creeping me out. I love it when he gets tough with her. I don’t like that they skipped ahead a month as if nothing critical happened during that time!!! Love this book so far. Have absolutely NO IDEA where it’s going. I’m going with the alien theory, but….
Michelle, there was only a small part towards the beginning of the book where Falk made me raise my eyebrows. I got to 55% yesterday. I didn’t get hardly any reading time so yeah, its a fast book.
I read the sample of The Mirror Of Her Dreams and liked it, luckily my library has it and I put it on hold. The Murmurings and The Metamorphosis have been put on my tbr list. The audible of Illuminae is on hold from my library bc that’s all they had – I listened to a sample and liked that even though I’m not big on audibles. AND I read the sample of City Beautiful and really liked that so its my next read! Oh and I got The Hook Up, great list!! 🙂
I think I’m going to start Rip today. I love her mafia books, so I’m curious. I have to admit, I keep re-reading Elite, but am on book 5 of that series. A stand alone might throw me back into it.
Finished Cutters Vs Jocks. It was okay. A little too rushed, and I couldn’t enjoy all the moments of falling in love. Definitely more tell than show.
Allison, it was awesome, though I wanted more at the end. Nothing wrong with how it ended; I just wanted more!
Fabi – I’m at “Part 2” and biting my nails. OMG this book has me in knots. (Commodity).
Carry On by Rainbow Rowell was awesome, of course.
MichelleS you decided on Commodity too? Awesome. I don’t think I’m at part 2 yet. I stopped at the point where he went to search the hospital for supplies and she got surprised when looking through some grocery bags hanging off a corpse. Lol I’m trying to keep it so vague so its not spoilery I think I’m making it worse.
I wish Ibwas reading today…but I HAVE to pack. I can’t put it off any longer.
Oh my God, I just got to part 2. I’ve been thinking…I don’t know if this book comes with a trigger warning, but don’t you think it needs one?
SEE?!? *frantically points to Grey* That’s why I’m waiting to read TGR series!!! We can do this Cheryl…
Hey ladies, does Commodity have similar feels to Krylov’s After?
Hmmm, maybe. Commodity is more immediate action. It lacks the generational gaps that I found annoying in After. I’m only a little over halfway through but so far, I like it better than After.
BTW, I believe Commodity is free on KU for those of you who subscribe.
Ah, man Fabi. You said the magic words. *gets it* Reading Rip first though. All of your angsty moments made me curious about Commodity.
Ok finished Commodity and it’s a meh for me. Had some moments but lost steam in the wrap up. I liked After a lot more – it was more intense, dark and just more across the board. This is happening a lot to me lately, that the characters are great but the actual story doesn’t cut it.
Back to my tbr or maybe…even though I shouldn’t and said I would never spend the money…I will try The Mirror of Her Dreams.
*stops reading Rip* Really good, but I haven’t read Elude. NOT doing it. Nope. I’ll read Elude first.
Oh noooo, Michelle. As good as it is up to just past the halfway mark, are you telling me it falls apart the last half or third of the book? 🙁 Not happy to hear that. Such a great start. 🙁 and how did you get finished so fast? Sheesh. You were behind me this morning and now I’m halfway and you’re done.
Yeah it just didn’t come together for me…it was too weird with some of the plot lines and maybe a little corny. I like post-apocalyptic where it may be unbelievable but is still rooted in reality or plays out in a way that I can believe. This story was just too out there and even the romance fell flat in the second half. Ohhh and how can Hannah just be alright after all of THAT and Falk went from alpha to slumping beta. I have high standards for dystopian reads at this point *shrugs*
Hmm, well, I’m at 68%. I might as well finish it. It’s still good at this point.
I have to agree with you on the Dystopian books. CR authors who venture into it don’t always do it justice. But this one isn’t Dystopian. It’s Apocalyptic don’t you think?
Talking about books like Golden Dynasty reminded me that I found an older book called Heart’s Surrender by Kathleen Morgan a while back and wanted to try it. I’m going with that and maybe it will satisfy me enough to not spend so much money on Mirror.
Yeah I usually put them all together at this point but definitely more post-apocalyptic. You might love it…don’t listen to me 😉
Michelle, maybe you should try the buddy read book that Maryse, Amy, & Marit are reading?
Going to start it too, but I am going to have very little reading time next couple days, so Im going to be way behind.
Fabi, are you going on a trip?
Bev, we’re moving to another house. My brother is putting this one up for sale and we are leasing a smaller house for a year while we look into building one. We’ve been here 2 1/2 years. We moved in from the country. It seems like we just moved yesterday and here we go again. We still have boxes packed from last move. :-0
It’s a crazy time for me because I went to work full-time for my brother’s new company. I’m still working full time at the college until the end of the semester. I’m was already teaching two classes and had a third one start last Monday and another starts tomorrow. Plus I’m still finishing up the new curriculum for the new college program. That is due December.
Today was packing day, tonight is prepare the new class night, tomorrow morning the corp job…but I’m determined to finish Commodity somewhere in between all that. I snuck in an hour or of reading around lunch time and a few minutes with coffee this morning. *dedicated reader* lol
There you have it. The story of my life and the reason why I can’t keep up with everyone’s reading right now. 🙂
Fabi, I’m exhausted just READING about all that you have going on. 😕
Lol, you should see me trying not to pass out at night. *must read, muuust reeeaaad, muuu -snore-*
Wow, Fabi. You seriously need to make up a daily schedule for me. I’m the worst procrastinator. What subject do you teach? But how exciting to build your own home.
Ha! Bev, if I made a daily schedule for you you’d end up looking like a chicken with its head cut off – just like me. (Oh, I’m a procrastinator too. I only work well under pressure.)
I teach math, database theory and information systems design.
Ok then. Totally over my head. Lol. Math. *shivers*
lol I always say “numbers are my passion, words are my escape”
OMG!! Walking Dead!!!!
*grabs pillow and screams into it*
Amy, you’re the second person I’ve heard do that tonight. Must have been pretty bad. 🙁
I’m off to read for an hour to so. Yeah me!
Amy of course I had to Google. And all I can say is no no no no no NOOOO!!
It WAS bad. Intense, then even more intense, then Michonne puts a guy in his place (go Michonne!!) and then…and then…and then…it was just like Bev said, no no no no NOOOO!!!!
I still can’t believe Walking Dead! I cried and screamed! Such a horrible, horrible…*sob*
I’m really loving Commodity!!!!
Michelle, right? And the season just started, too… 😕
It’s rainy here and perfect for curling up to read the Girl-Gifts book with some hot tea, and yet I have work to do. BAH!
Good Time Bad Boy by Sonya Clark is .99. It was a pretty good read.
Off the Edge by Carolyn Crane is .99. Read & enjoyed one of hers.
