Happy Friday!!!! And not just that, but happy ALL WEEKEND IS HALLOWEEN TIME!!! 😀 Because of COURSE even though Monday is “actually” Halloween, this weekend will be loaded in fun parties, and get-togethers, and costumes. FOUR DAYS OF HALLOWEEN. How. Perfect!!!!
I dunno how much reading will get done this weekend 😉 but I KNOW I have a great list of options for all of our reading moods. Scary or sweet, or gritty and raw! Fantasy romance while being kidnapped by a warlord? It’s there! 😀 All sorts of “romances” and some… not so romance. 😉
Take a look at what we found! (NOTE: some are bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!):
- A Promise of Fire (The Kingmaker Chronicles Book 1) by Amanda Bouchet <— FANTASY ROMANCE ALERT!!! Has a “Golden Dynasty” feel? OMG. MINE!!! MichelleS is reading it as we speak and LOVING IT!!!
MichelleS: I am currently reading A Promise of Fire (Kingmaker Chronicles Book 1) and loving it. She is a great heroine. Strong. Super snarky. A total bad @$$. It is Golden Dynasty meets Percy Jackson meets Throne of Glass. Seriously.
She’s abducted by a warlord (woo hoo) from the traveling circus where she’s been hiding for years because of her crazy powers. The royals want her because of the powers (Kingmaker) and this warlord is no different. But she is not coming along easily. There are dragons and greek gods and there’s magic. And hanky panky! Did I mention the hanky panky? The slow burn is just what I needed. She’s not having it but he keeps trying anyway.
- Fifteen Seconds of Normal by Alex Marestaing <— LIVE!! SHE’S TRANSFERRING TO A NEW HIGH SCHOOL… “Step 1: Transfer high schools Step 2: Hide your Tourette’s Step 3: Find your fifteen seconds of normal Kaeya Garay has a plan. A girl walks into a bar, soaking wet and wearing a wedding dress. I knew I shouldn’t have touched her. She was hammered, for one thing, and heartbroken for another. I’ve chased enough tail to know better. That kinda thing only leads to clinginess, and a clingy female is the last thing on this earth I need. I got a bar needs running, and only me to run it–at least until my seven wayward brothers decide to show their asses up...” (and here it is on Amazon UK)
- Brooklyn & Beale by Olivia Evans <— ROCK STAR ALERT and Tiffany recommends this one, BIG TIME!! (here it is on Amazon UK)
Tiffany: Hi Maryse, and Hi fellow book lovers 🙂 I’m rarely writing here even though I check out the page & the website everyday, & I love it!!!
So I’m writing today because I fell completely and madly in love with this book, Brooklyn and Beale by Olivia Evans !!!!!
This story was so perfect in so many ways. I am in love with Chloe and Reid, they are the perfect characters, and their story is so well built.
Chloe is awesome, she’s funny, a talented violinist, badass tattooed punk rock girl, always nice with everyone but also not afraid to state her mind when she has to. She’s never annoyed me once in the book, never made me roll my eyes, never made me want to yell at her for being stupid, and that was so refreshing ! Reid is also awesome, struggling with his demons, but always funny and touching. All the second characters are great too, the bandmates and tourmates, Chloe’s friends etc…
And the story in itself is very well detailed. I felt like I was touring the world with them, being a part of the band, having my spot in the tour bus, watching the rehearsals and enjoying the shows from backstage. And don’t get me started on the friendship/lovestory !!! 🙂
No really, everyone who’s in for a great story on the road, please do yourself a favor a go straight for this one !!!
I didn’t know Olivia Evans before, but I’m on my way to go buy everything else she’s ever wrote !!!
- 1989: Once Bitten, Twice Shy (Love in the ’80s Book 10) by Kelly Martin <— LIVE!! She lures in the man who has wronged her client, flatters him with her considerable charms, then strikes. It’s only business. Until the ex-girlfriend of tabloid-proclaimed Romeo, Chad Harris, comes in.” (here it is on Amazon UK)
- Cease (Bayonet Scars Book 7) by JC Emery <— BIKER BOOK SERIES FINALE ALERT!!!! Wow this one sounds amazing and while each one CAN be read as a standalone, the author suggests reading the series in order. “Ruby Buckley is no stranger to loss. She lost her twins in their infancy, lost her son to his demons, and lost herself to a life she never wanted. Until him. Jim Stone is lost. He’s a father who doesn’t know how to parent, a brother who doesn’t know why he ever patched in, and is completely numb to everything around him. Until her. Craving normalcy, Ruby wants to live straight, but that’s easier said than done when a member of the Forsaken Motorcycle Club is determined to make her his old lady…” (here is is on Amazon UK)
- Trapped by Amanda Lance <— LIVE!! SAVED BY A RECLUSE & HAS TO STAY WITH HIM ALERT! Aubrey and Jack wait out the winter, they grow closer…” (here it is on Amazon UK)

Dory: “I don’t know if I want to hang out with you guys anymore! LOL. I have a major hangover, now.
After my book fog with Pull Me Close I was going to go fluffy with Max Monroe but then read all y’alls comments and Maryse’s review and decided to go in and read Hausfrau.
SIGHHH I am going to hide under my bed, now. Not even under the covers…under the bed! My mind can’t process all this intensity. I’m going to have to read some straight erotica now or maybe THe Cat in the Hat. LOL. Something COMPLETELY different. Anyway, 2 great books in just a short matter of day…head explode.”
Jean: Dory, wasn’t Pull Me Close so great? Max Monroe’s books can definitely get you out of that funk….they are funny and light!
Dory: Yes!! Jean it was so freaking good. I feel like I’m the only one that’s read it and have no one to talk about it with. Same thing with Hausfrau, not that I even want to talk right now. LOL So…I’m pretty new here, where can I get a Manny to cuddle with? LOL I may have to go to the Aquarium gift shop and cry into the manatee tank.
Maryse: Tee hee Dory!!! *slides our furry-stuffed manatee “Manny” to cuddle with you under the bed*
R: Haven’t read Pull Me Close but I totally understand your Hausfrau hangover!
Amy: Dory is going to get arrested for trying to hug the manatees in their tanks! *cackles* “But…but…officer! My friends told me I could snuggle the manatee because I was sad from my book!”
bev: Yeah. Don’t do that.
Maryse: *snort* 😛

Cristina: I finished the Bad Ones Last night. I can see this categorized as a psych/horror book. Definitely dark… like abyss dark. If you want to know what happens when two sociopaths find one another, this is your story. Definitely not my cup of tea, but still a well written story.
DG: The Bad Ones…done. Is there such a thing as book shock? Kinda like when you ‘go into shock’ over a traumatic accident????? Yeah…I think that’s where I am…
Ela: The Bad Ones *full body shiver*….eeeep I still can’t get some of those images out of my mind!!!!!
- war/SONG (Book of Hymns 1) by Vanessa Gravenstein <— LIVE!! - A Head Full of Ghosts: A Novel by Paul Tremblay <— HORROR/SUPERNATURAL THRILLER ALERT! Kat found us this one at a bargain price and it sounds right up my scary alley!!!! Their daughter appears to have schizophrenia, but then they realize it might be more of a demonic possession, and so they create a reality show in that family’s home to document it all. YIKES!!! “WINNER OF THE 2015 BRAM STOKER AWARD FOR SUPERIOR ACHIEVEMENT IN A NOVEL A chilling thriller that brilliantly blends psychological suspense and supernatural horror, reminiscent of Stephen King’s The Shining, Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House, and William Peter Blatty’s The Exorcist.”
- Lovegame by Tracy Wolff <— PSYCHOLOGICAL OBSESSION ALERT!! This one is super-bargain priced today and sounds like so much steamy, mind-messing fun! “In this darkly addictive novel of seduction and psychological obsession, a movie star with a shattered past meets a man who can either break her or make her whole.” (here it is on Amazon UK)

Train’s Clash (Last Riders #9) by Jamie Begley came out yesterday
Thank you Jennifer!!! I just added it. 😀
How’s the Hausfrau hangover coming along? *snicker*
Crazy how a book can beat our hearts to a bloody pulp, and then we relish it when someone else reads it and it happens to them, too. 😛
By the way…The Farm by Amy Cross is free and is a pretty good and spooky book, perfect for this weekend.
STATUS UPDATE: My Hausfrau/Pull Me Close hangover is still at def con 5 level. I tried Max Monroe’s new book and stopped about 20% in. Went to Emma Chase’s Royally whatever book, and couldn’t get into it either. I’m so heartbroken. I keep thinking of Katie and Anna. Help what do I read. HURRY before I go back and re-read these
I JUST started reading again… “Pull Me Close” right now and I’m VERY MUCH liking it. Good writing, a relatable heroine (with severe issues), a believably moody hero that isn’t so impressed with her,
Good stuff so far! I’ll keep you updated. 😀
Dory??
Apparently you’re still in the mood for a shocking love story.
Have you read Rainfall yet?
I’d suggest an immediate move into that one.
Dory: O.M.G.! Why would you go from Hausfrau to Pull Me Close?? You may as well read Thoughtless or It Ends With Us next. You know…to really get in all your comic relief in!
P.S. Gabrielle? Your comment made me EXTRA excited ’cause now I knew Pull Me Close would have that touch of angst that hooks me. :D!!! And it did!
Maryse, did you ever read PMC?
A Promise of Fire is the best book I’ve read lately. I enjoyed it so much.
Pouring the wine. One-clicking Rainfall right now.
You’ll enjoy Pull Me Close. I just read that the reason for the agoraphobia is something that happened to the author or someone she knows or something. Some kind of true story. Scary stuff!!
I can’t believe I’ve never been so active in here. Y’all are a hoot! (also expensive for my Amazon account)
LOL Dory, welcome to the club.
Speaking of…I took a little break but I’m back in the Fish Tales with a hurting tummy again.
Amy, I can’t believe you haven’t read this. I mean, I know you haven’t because it’s male POV, but I’m not sure it would matter to you considering the tummy twisting angst level that starts after the first 30%. I mean, sheesh, the story took a 180° turn.
YES Dory!!!! Rainfall!!! Oh, and have you read Badger? That is another MUST READ. 😉
*Squeee* My library has A Promise of Fire as an e-book! That’s definitely after Bound. Speaking of which, super good. Knowing that one thing that was revealed totally shifted what I thought the story would do. Also, super glad I re-read the first book. Things would’ve been more confusing if not.
Fabi…I have read it. Make POV. Enough said. 😕
Do you know how badly I wish I could enjoy male POV books like y’all do?? I enjoy them but they don’t affect me like they do you guys. Obviously there are exceptions (like Transcendence and some heavy YA books) but TMIL sadly wasn’t one of those. 🙁
I can see Amy having issues with that male POV. Though why I stopped was my own issue. What happened at 51%made no sense to me.
*MALE pov
Autocorrect. Dang it.
Oh, sorry. I thought you’d said you hadn’t read it because it was male POV. My bad.
And Thoughtful. You liked that one.
I prefer my male POV to be written by men unless it’s a secondary pov, like Thoughtful.
I Know It’s Over and Thirteen Reasons Why…both YA male POV and both of them made my heart just ACHE.
I totally get it Tessa. I almost stopped at 54-55%, managed to read through to 60% but then I had a melt down and had to take a break to read a lighter romance. I’m back to it now though. Determined to see it through. Even though you can imagine how hard it is for me to read a book like this. It’s non-stop tummy twisting, nausea inducing angst from just after 30%.
I really like keeping my reading chops on their toes by varying my books and genres. But these kind of stories, even with brilliant writing, I’m only going to be able to handle one every year or two. I just don’t like being all torn up and sick feeling. …and, yes! I know that last statement is like catnip to many of you. LOL!!!
I did like Thoughtful, Tessa. I like (most of the time) when a book is re-written in the guy’s POV. Of course, I’ve already been through the emotions with her POV and know how it’s going to end so I’m not craving the angst when I read his.
R says book 2 in the Fish Tales is completely her POV but that it adds a whole lot more to the story so it’s not just a retelling.
I may read it someday, especially since it’s sitting in my library…I think it was on sale at one point so I clicked it. 😉
Gabrielle,
Er… what is PMC? OH!!!!!
YES! No.
I’m reading it AS WE SPEAK! 😀
Fabi I LOVED her book!
Wow. You all are hazing the newbie.
Amy, know why you don’t like male pov? You haven’t read Simon.
Maryse! ! Read a book with me next month. Please. An Untamed State by Roxane Gay.
*looks up An Untamed State*
Oh wow!!!
That just sounds AWESOME and terrifying, bev. Why yes. I’d love to buddy-read it with you.
Why thank you.
*whispers*
Stay away from Amy and her white van.
Eeeeeep!!!
Does she have candy? Puppies?
Happy Friday ladies!!!! Second favorite day of the week!!! And what a week it has been…Amy – I need a pitcher of your fab martinis…STAT!
I did manage to sneak in a couple of books this week…and my fav was Keepsake by Sarina Bowen!!!! Floved it! Really liked her writing style and the plot was different than what I usually read. Loved the quiet and humble ‘caveman’ and the strong but broken girl…just floved it!
Ok. Im all geared up to go with NaNoWriMo.
How do I find the others….Grey.. Tammy who are also writing on the site??
Hmm. Whose Tammy?
No, she leans out the window holding a martini. With a pink sugared rim.
Then when she opens the back and it’s pink shag carpet, wall to wall. Disco ball hanging from the roof. And books. Lots of sad sad books.
The women are never seen again. But people swear they can hear the weeping.
Make it a mix of sad, happy and really, really angsty and I am all in!
I just noticed the lottery one, cover & title. Really.
On Nanowrimo my name Tessa Doireann.
F@#$ng autocorrect. Tammy is a mum from school who autocorrect appears to think is also on Maryses blog! Tessa dammit. I meant Tessa.
How do I turn off preemptive text….its ruining my life!!
So, Amy drives a disco, martini, death book van?! Hmmmm… interesting. I will NOT be lured into that thing!
A PINK, disco, martini, death book van. *nods knowingly*
Has she come for you?
I heard a Fish Tale.
Lo. Fabi that was perfect.
Tessa….I cant even work out how to find/search for buddies on the Nano website…..its a shocker to try to navigate. FAQ tells me to visit a persons profile and click on buddy but I cant find how I do that. Having a ‘I freaking hate technology’ tantrum.
Can you give me idiot proof directions??
Okay. You go to the right of the page under search. Click author and put Tessa Doireann under it. Click the name. It’ll take you to my page. From there, add buddy. It sounds far simpler than it is when you first start.
Thank you thank you. Were buddies!!
Maryse
Just finished American Queen and was surprised and shocked. Let’s just say it was nothing like I thought it would be.
Some of your readers won’t approve.
And I didn’t even know that something was even possible that happened near the end. I must be naive.
Also a warning…..ends on a big cliffhanger!!!!!
But I loved the book, very good writing.
Tessa, Lisa, what a t e your stories about?
What is with my phone? What ARE they about?
First! *grabs Manny and stares in shock* It’s only 9 am here and I’m seriously considering alcohol. My brain is swearing like crazy. Just… Words. The end of The Bound… CRAP. Just, what the… Ends in a CH, but how it ends, even if the story continued in the book, just… Wow.
I feel like a huge wall just smacked me. That is how harsh that ending was. Just… My brain can’t seem to recover.
Bev, I’m writing a fantasy story. Yeah, Lisa. I’m glad it worked.
Julie O and Tessa, thanks for letting us know about the CHs. I hate those thangs…… I was considering American Queen, too, but now, ouch! Maybe not……
I need to read 50 books before the end of the year.
I’m determined to do it. It might be the time to read any novellas I have and the shorter harlequin books I’ve bought at their sales.
Lisa! My name is Grey Ditto on the nanowrimo site. Congratulations on your decision to take the plunge! Are you on twitter? I do a lot of tweeting for motivational purposes during nano too… Yep, I am taking the plunge again. What am I thinking? Gah! So to celebrate my last weekend of freedom haha, I am gonna read the latest Max Monroe.
Thank you all for the info on the last with the cliffies… I absolutely cannot handle any more cliffies right now, it will send me over one, seriously!
What are we drinking tonight, Amy?
Grey, what will yours be about?
On a dark and stormy night, there was a HUGE party for a formerly, online-only, book group that idolized a stuffed manatee named Manny. Some of these beloved members were avid ‘death club’ book readers, you see… and their conversations could get quite lively with those who couldn’t understand the appeal to have their beating hearts ripped from their chests. Instead, they would choose to stroll down the Jellicoe Road. Others were self professed smut hounds and would happily, and I do mean *happily*, fritter away an evening flipping the pages of their *ahem* pages. Well this night, many pitchers of martinis were consumed and entertaining discussions were had. During one such lively encounter, such a furor broke out it was discovered… *GASP, insert shock and horror here* there was a kidnapping of MANNY!
*giggle*
Nah, just kidding, I’m writing what I know… medical type romancey suspense stuffs….
Lol.
You’ll have to gather the suspects to unveil the kidnapper.
But I do have to say the Jellicoe Road whilst awesome is not a Sunday stroll. It actually made me hurt and I cried.
Got to read a couple books this week- Believe by Katie Delahanty and A Place in The Sun by R.S. Grey. Both excellent, funny, smidge of angst books. Believe is the 3rd book in the Brightside series. First two books follow same MC’s but book 3 is different MC’s but interrelated. Great series!!
Now what to read…
Grey, that was great!! I love medical suspense stories!
I kidnapped Manny. Um, I’m not giving him back, sorry. I neeeeeeed him!
Tessa!!! Shhhh, geez, way to give away the ending, now what am I going to write my other 49950 words about? 😉
Grey!! i want to read the Manny mystery! NOw if you just squeeze a second-chance, bad boy, step-brother, billionaire, biker in there somewhere……….
Bev Im reading Our Souls at Night for bookclub. Its super short if you need to boost your book count gor your reading challenge.
Its two widowers who decide to ‘visit’ each other at night just for the companionship. it reminds me of Tuesdays with Morrie in the reflections of their lives.
What?? Now I’m a creepy van driver trying to lure unsuspecting women?
Why you gotta say that and I just met the new ladies?!?
*sigh*
Whatever. Candy corn martinis all around!!!!! 😀 That’s what I’m having tonight and mmmmmm they are yummy!!
Grey I’ll look you up on nanowrimo.
I dont have or ‘get’ twitter. Its a miracle I can manage fb and instagram let alone formulate witty, snappy comments of 140 characters or less. 😉
Obviously far too long winded for that!!
Im writing romance but basing it loosely in a place I grew up…I think….Im not sure…it might morph into something else yet!
Tessa…is that the series by KA Linde? As in KA Linde of the Avoiding series?? How did I not know that? Clicking books 1 and 2 but I am NOT reading them until the next book is out. That woman is a menace with the angst.
You have no idea. Like, book one was good, but sets up stuff. Book two, what! Prolog is =mi d blowing discovery. Then just a bunch but ugh the last one was a WTF type and then that ending. After that end, my brain just stood still shell-shocked. Literally couldn’t compute that KA actually did that. It was beyond no pulling punches. GAH! And and and! I get on here and no one around!
Awww Tessa. I’m here. I just home and I’m happy to make you a strong drink (since I don’t know how to make the fancy ones) and sit for a snugle. That mean ol’ book.
Oh Tessa…I loved KA Linde Avoiding series….not sure how I’d like the fantasy one, but it sounds like it has you in knots. I want to read Off the Record series AND Glitter series. (I think you read those). After the holidays, I’ll have to see if I can get someone to BR them with me.
Tessa, what are you reading that has you holding Manny and drinking?
I tried the Avoiding series and realized this author is not for me. Those characters were so horrible.
It would of made a good Halloween book.
*huggles Fabi* Thank you. When the series is done, I think you’d love it. Though the OMG was enough that I’m reading a mafia book for light reading.
Leslie I’d recommend Off the Record series. It’s so good. I love the Glitter series, but you have to go in realizing the h is the mean girl. That said, I really liked it and her. She’s the mean girl you get to know and understand. I have Avoiding Commitment as a Gbl.
Cheryl, The Bound by KA Linde. It’s number 2 of the affiliate series.
I’m reading A Love Letter to Whiskey and it’s ripping my guts out! I luuurve it!! It’s not at all what I expected!
Finally read The Winner’s Curse. It was good, makes me want to squirrel to the 2nd book but I’m determined to stand by my tbr.
I’m jealous Bev. I’d be surprised if I managed to read two books from my tbr this year. I just keep adding to it and picking up new shinies.
Well, at least stand by my short tbr, the one listed on goodreads as currently reading. It helps that the books are a but on the $$ side.
Fabi, you always seem to stay focused on your planned reads. At least your arcs.
I’ve scrambled like a crazy woman this month. Worse than a kid in a candy store with all I want to read.
I’m already working up a New Year’s resolution. It will involve books. :-/
I read the Off the Record series by K A Linde and loved it. It was a bit angsty…and is there cliffies? I read them back to back so don’t recall. I tried Glitter but couldn’t tolerate the h.
Lisa,–Same here–I couldn’t take the h in the first All that Glitters book, but I floved the Avoiding series because of the angst! I’ve thought about reading the Off the Record series, but it’s just a bit angsty?? I want BIG angst!!
I haven’t done a reading challenge in a few years. But now that I’m reading again, I’m looking SO forward to doing one again in 2017 and trying to put a tiny dent int my monstrous tbr!!
Where’s are you, R? How did the party go???
Well, don’t feel to bad. I forgot I had a Halloween story by Tiffany Reisz for Harlequin. I wanted to read it before the holiday ended so a little detour for me.
Thanks for the warning re: meanie face h in Glitter series. When I know what to expect, it doesn’t bother me as much. I’m going to try to tackle all my older series on my TBR in 2017. However, because of all the great rec’s here, all I do is keep adding new books and the older ones get neglected.
Cheryl, A Place in the Sun and Brightside Series both sound like my kind of stories! Going to check them out.
Bev, I don’t think you missed much re: Tiffany Reisz Halloween one…I was disappointed.
My 2nd dnf of the day. *sigh* hate “those” moods
Leslie, I started it. On one hand I like a good friends to lovers story. The banter and chemistry is great. I love the way she describes the cabin and Oregon, great sense of place. But so much sex. The ratio is way off. The sex should be sprinkled through and the rest the main component. I figure it’d be fast cause of the books length but still.
Fabi, just sample Simon. Just a nibble. A taste test….
There is a book I bought based on reviews, haven’t read it yet, but scifi romance. Called Dark Horse I believe. Saw it pop up on end of year lists and any time it’s mentioned people in comments pipe in too.
Bev, it did have great banter and I liked characters and I laughed…but way too much sex (I know?! Who woulda thunk it?) and there was no angst/nothing going on, so it was boring.
Bev, I’ll get to it. It’s just not a very favorite genre. The YA I enjoy is usually PNR, Fantasy or Sci-Fi. Except for maybe Punk 57. That one has been screaming my name because I’m in love with the cover, I like the title, and I heard it reads like NA.
So maybe that’s your next read?
Thanks for checking on me Nay! I’m alive. Barely! Ready to jump back into some reading!
Maybe not Bev, since I just told you it’s not really a favorite genre for me and I already had two dnfs today. It’s probably not a good time for me to try one of your favorite books. I am just in a *mood*. Of course, two dnfs in one day will do that to me.
Yeah R! You’re alive. LOL. How was it?
Oops, Bev, that came across kind of snippy. Didn’t mean it that way. Sorry sweety. *taking myself off to sit in time out corner*
I meant your Punk 57. Since it has been screaming your name.
And I get it. I have many I bought because of recs on here, that I can not muster any enthusiasm to read. The Fish Tales, that Taryn Fisher Trilogy, Thoughtless, and etc. Someday.
No it dint, Fabi. Not at all. I’m a total mood reader so I absolutely get it.
dint?? OK, phone.
It was great but I’m so happy it’s done. I’m a little melancholy about it being the last, but we can’t do it forever.
Sheesh, I’m so out of it tonight. I need another weekend day. :-/
Thanks Bev. I’m thinking of waiting and getting that one in hardcover just cause it’s so pretty.
I hear ya about the tbr. I was just cleaning up my old one. I can’t believe the books I have in there that I’ve never made the time to read.
Awww R. I imagine it’s bittersweet. At least you have awesome memories from them. And if it you miss it too much, you can always plan one every few years instead of yearly.
Quick question nanowrimo’s……do you write your stories chronologically? Or do you write different chapters, endings then piece it together?? I feel like I need to write the ending first so I know where Im heading!
Arrrg. im at 5000 words already and my h/H have only spoken once….fair to say this could be a slow burn.
Nay is definitely part of the “Marmy”! She loves getting her guts ripped out and wants big angst!! Hee hee.
I’m so in awe of you guys doing nanowrimo. If they ever change it to nanowri-year, I might be able to do it!
You do what feels right, but it doesn’t start until Nov. 1. I think having done 5000 in a few days is great. Go look at the forums. I usually do in order with tons of “backing up” , but so many people do it scene skipping, beginning to end, or very common, end then the rest. Whatever works best for you is what you do.
Okee. I have to say I’m Loving the book I’m reading. The Line Between by Tamsyn Bester. Total jerseys wad bully book, so you know I absolutely adore it. He’s Jared type bully, which is my favorite type. (Jared is from Penelope Douglas Bully). This book makes me so happy!
I’m in awe of all you writers!! I can barely form a coherent sentence and have zero creativity. Being able to create interesting characters and whisk us into their world is pretty amazing. Doing it in a month, even more so. Good luck to Nanowrimo participants!
Tessa, The Line Between is an “oldie” on my TBR…glad to hear it’s good! I love when someone reminds me of one I forgot about.
I ditto what Leslie said. You writers rock.
Happy Halloween.
I hope you all find lots and lots of treats. Or tricks if it’s what your h earth desires.
Don’t think I mentioned that I finished A Love Letter to Whiskey and I absolutely loved it! The gut-wrenching feelings it gave me reminded me of what I felt when I read Thoughtless, and I haven’t had a book do that to me in a long time. So if you enjoyed the angst of Thoughtless, you might want to give it a try!
Heart. Grr. I swear my phone is doing the exact opposite of learning words I type.
Happy Halloween! It’s our 15th anniversary today so I’m forgoing candy corn for a steak. Or maybe a big giant cheeseburger. Something with more calories than sense, anyway.
Happy Anniversary R and S !!!
Happy Anniversary R!!
Don’t we have a Halloween birthday here too?
Ok, so, *deep breath* in just over 9 hours, Nano will begin, and life as I know it, will end for the next month LOL, So if I disappear, you all know why! I am not one of those people who can just spew out 50k words lickety split, it is *work* for me. On that note… hi, bye, I will miss you all, haha! Someone better take good notes for me!
Thanks Grey and Fabi! And good luck with Nano Grey! Tweet updates!
What is this Nano exactly? I know it has to do with writing but ???
Happy Anniversary, R.!!!
Thanks Nay! Nanowrimo is national writing month and writers can sign up here https://nanowrimo.org to write a novel in a month. That’s about all I know because the “month” part scares me off lol.
Yeah, a month? That’s not much time at all. Is this just for ‘personal fulfillment’ or do the writers get them edited and post them, or do they turn them in to someone or…??
It’s mostly just for fun but some major books have come out of it like Water for Elephants. It’s only a rough draft expexted in November, but it can turn into a full finished novel.
How cool!
I hate it when a book comes out that I *think* I want to read because I 5-starred the one before it but I have ZERO remembrance of what the first book was about! Case in point: Dirty. I remember loving Raw way back when, but remember nothing about it except the name ‘Twitch’.
I just got a ticket to CoHo’s Bookworm Box signing! Anyone close wanna go? How far is Nashville from North Texas Nay?? I hit Fabi up but I think just walking into CoHo’s bookstore would make her breakout in pretzel tummy.
Oh, it’s probably only about 800 miles, give or take!
So not far then 😀
