Let’s see… My plans for Christmas is to first workout, then come back home–shower and eat some good food and then snuggle up to my ipad and read a real good book that I’m sure you recommended.

I don’t know how I stumbled on your page but you are a godsend and you leave me with so many books to read…I’m so grateful. I go on your site like a zombie every day to see if anything new is being recommended, even though I still have a bunch of books on standby.

I hope you enjoy your holiday!

Hope December 24, 2013 at 6:48 AM

Hey maryse and fellow readers. Just read through this blog. Amazing how many different and how many similar ways people all over the world spend Christmas.

My husband two young children and I drive north each year from Florida to spend Christmas with my in laws. Mother on law makes it special with special dishes and drinks that each person likes. Children light luminaries down the drive, we take a family picture in front of the tree. Christmas Eve church service, then home for a big meal. Presents exchange in front of a tree with thoughtfully selected ornament for each person representing our year. We set out food for raindeer and cookies for santa. The children write him a note. Then the children and grandparents go to bed and our parent work begins. Wine in hand we set out Santas stash. It’s a beautiful holiday and I thank you for asking. Sometimes I forget how nice something is until I sit and write about it.

Merry Christmas to everyone. I hope you all find peace wherever you are.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!!

I’ll be woken up before its light out!! LOL!! This happens EVERY year!! I think it’s FUN!! I LOVE that part of Christmas and try to enjoy it!! I’ll only have 1 maybe 2 more years left of this, my sons 9 & still believes in SANTA!! My kids & I eat a light breakfast, usually homemade crepes. This year I’ll have my daughters BFF with us in the morning & afternoon, then her Mom picks the girls up about 5 & they do Christmas at her BFF’s fsmily party. This year she’s staying the night with her BFF.

Then between 1pm & 2pm everyone arrives at my sisters house. Our family Christmas is a mix match of close friends & family. Every year its the same group of family friends as it was when I was growing up!!

We let the kids open their presents about 2:30.

Our family has a traditional holiday dinner at Thanksgiving. On Christmas we pick a theme. Last year was Mexican food. This year it’s Italian food!” We all bring over food to cook (we love cooking in Sis’s gourmet kitchen!!). All us girls finish off dinner. Its Pasta & Meatballs, Fettucini Carbonara, Meatball Subs, Mini Personalized Pizza, Italian Mixed Salad, Classic Lasagna and Spinach Lasagna in Creamy Red Sauce. Then we open presents, and after that more family comes over and we all get together at MY house for dinner. It sounds weird but its lots of fun to see family we only get to see once a year.

But luckily I got to see my uncle for the first time in 3 years and get to spend tomorrow with my momma’s side of the family! We always have this tradition where we meet up with my aunt and we play retro video games and stuff up on holiday cookies! :) I can’t wait!
