WINNER ANNOUNCEMENTS: Congratulations to Sarah, Marsha, Alicia, Carol, and Ella!!! They have all responded to their email notifications and will be receiving this gift.

So guess what that is ——>

That’s Colleen Hoover’s book, “Hopeless“. Right there. In print!! Well… hehe. In “homemade” print. She printed the book out in it’s entirety and displayed it’s pages proudly on Facebook, saying:

“400 pages…114,000 words (The length of SLAMMED and POR put together, mind you) Over half a million characters…two reams of printer paper and two ink cartridges later…I now have a completed manuscript to hold in my hands. It’s really, really heavy. I can’t wait for all of you to meet Sky and Holder!!! ♥ ♥ ♥”

I must say, that is quite an impressive looking book! And I will say that it IS an impressive book, as I have read it. Here is my review, in case you missed it down there.

And guess what? Colleen Hoover has five SIGNED copies to give away to five lucky commenters on this blog. Errr… well… let me clarify. ;) She is giving away THE REAL print books that are still in production as we speak. The gorgeous ones, with the shiny cover, that we can display on our shelves, and stare at… lovingly. All pretty and “book-like”.

Want one? Maybe you’ll get one!

How to enter for a chance to win one? Just leave a comment below (or better yet, since we’re in that mad Christmas shopping rush, if you’ve ever had a crazy shopping experience, tell that story!), and tomorrow night (Wednesday December 19th, 2012) by 10pm EST, I will randomly select five winners.

The winners will be contacted and will have 48hrs to respond with a mailing address, so if you are picked, do not delay or you will lose your chance. The books will be sent directly from the author as soon as she has them on hand (remember, the actual print books are still in production). This giveaway is open to EVERYBODY who comments – international too! YAY!!!

And while you’re here, if you haven’t already joined me (actually “us”, ’cause we’re a big group now) on Facebook and Twitter, whatcha waiting’ for?!

  OH AND!!! —-> Many of you have been asking how to receive a notice each time my blog is updated. Just use this link right here:

Merry Christmas Maryse……craziest story…went shopping with my aunt and we literally lost her car and could not find it in the parking garage! We forgot what level we parked on, and we looked for that darn car for an hour, walking every level! At first we were frustrated but by the time we found it we were laughing so hard we almost peed ourselves! I promised never to tell anyone we did that…..opps :)

amanda December 18, 2012 at 8:39 PM

I haven’t had a crazy shopping experience really. BUt I DO remember going shopping the day after Christmas with my mom one year at Dillard’s. Let me tell you, the ladies go crazy over angel ornaments. It’s a little ridiculous!!

Beverly December 18, 2012 at 8:39 PM

I would love a copy!!!!

Tammy December 18, 2012 at 8:40 PM

Can’t wait to read this book. Woohoo!! :)

Sarah December 18, 2012 at 8:40 PM

I would love a copy of this!! Big fan of Colleen’s!
I would have to say my craziest shopping experience was a few years ago. I always take my Dad shopping for my Mom, and we waited a bit later to go for her gifts than normal. She was in love with this gorgeous diamond ring, and Dad kept saying he wouldn’t get it because it was too expensive and such. We ended up going EVERYWHERE and finding nothing else that she had on her list. Like everything was sold out. Our last resort was the ring. So in we go to the store just so I can show it to Dad, and we get to the counter and it’s gone. I thought I was going to cry because that was our last resort gift idea and they were gone. Dad suggested we look at a few other things and see if there was something else we could pick out. While we were standing there, a gentleman came in and had a return. What was it you ask??? YEP, our ring!! The ring we came for. As soon as we saw him hand it back over, Dad said “We have to have it now, it’s meant to be.” So we bought it as soon as the guy walked out, no questions asked. That was also the last time we waited until the last minute to shop. We call that our “Arm and a leg shopping trip”. :)

Sarah Handrich December 18, 2012 at 8:40 PM

Thanks for the great giveaway! I don’t have any crazy shopping experiences to share!

Andrea December 18, 2012 at 8:41 PM

Would love to get this book!!!

Beth Ehemann December 18, 2012 at 8:43 PM

Ok, it’s kind of a long story, but it’s pretty funny. 7 years ago, my daughter was WAY into Barbie dolls so she got lots of “accessories” for Christmas. While I was in the crazy “wrapping” phase (at 11pm on Dec 23rd cause that’s how I roll..), I realized that Toys R Us forgot to put the Barbie bed I bought the day before in any of my 10 bags. I called the store, freaking out, and scared the poor manager into putting one aside for me and told him I was on my way to get it. It’s now midnight, mind you. I come home, wrap it, all is well. Fast forward to Christmas morning, the first present my daughter opens is her new Barbie bed. She’s THRILLED, so am I. The second present she opens? ANOTHER Barbie bed. OOPS! Turns out I was so sleep deprived, I hadn’t realized I had already wrapped it. Later that morning, she told me that she was pretty positive that Santa wasn’t real, but told me “thanks for trying”. *sigh* My bad.

Lisa December 18, 2012 at 8:43 PM

Vernalee Childress December 18, 2012 at 8:45 PM

Dawn Bush December 18, 2012 at 8:45 PM

Ohhhh! I can’t wait to read this one! There are sooooo many great new books out this month! The only crazy shopping experience I’ve had this year was on Thanksgiving @ midnight (mall stores opened early)…there was a freakin’ line wrapped around one end of the mall, INSIDE the mall, just to get INTO the Hollister store!! I mean they did have their sexy lifeguard boys on duty, but still! Lol! Crazy people…plus! The sames sale was available during that time, on their website!

Heather December 18, 2012 at 8:46 PM

Yay! Can’t wait to read this!! Merry Christmas!!

Sonya Owens December 18, 2012 at 8:47 PM

My craziest shopping experience was when my daughter was just 2 years old. She wanted to walk behind me in a very crowded store. I told her she needed to stay right behind me, evry time i turned around she was stopping and staing at things. I proceeded to tell her I was going to keep going and leave her (thinking this would get her to follow me) ha! She then stomped her foot and loudly yelled (in front of many shoppers i might add) YOUR PISSING ME OFF!…everyone stopped dead in their tracks and looked at us, i was mortified and then everyone laughed….ugh the things kids say…Shes 12 now and i havent ever heard her say a cuss word since, im sure its coming though.lol

Aleyna December 18, 2012 at 8:47 PM

Fortunately no crazy shopping stories. But still pick me!

Anne December 18, 2012 at 8:48 PM

Walking Wallmart Christmas Eve an hour before they close..holy crap that’s crazy!

Nicole December 18, 2012 at 8:48 PM

The craziest shopping experience I’ve had over the holidays was Black Friday last year. It was my first time shopping on that day and I have no words LOL it was just complete craziness. Thanks for the giveaway!! :)

Melissa December 18, 2012 at 8:50 PM

I hate shopping so it’s always crazy for me. The craziest story I can think of was when I was 37 weeks pregnant and I was shopping with my 18 month old at Target. I was walking through the parking lot and had to pee really bad. I felt a gush and thought I had peed my pants. I got my son in the car and then drove to McDonalds. I checked in the bathroom and unfortunately my water had broke. Thankfully everything went fine and my son was born a healthy early baby but I will never forget where I was when my water broke/ thought I peed my pants

Lisa Martz December 18, 2012 at 8:50 PM

I have been waiting for the book. Please pick me!!!

Ruth December 18, 2012 at 8:50 PM

I was married on Dec. 23 and remember the craziness of shopping for Christmas with my wedding so close to it. It was brutally stressful.

Becky K. December 18, 2012 at 8:51 PM

Yay!!! I just started reading Hopeless. This is one new release I was really looking forward to. Um..shopping stories? I, fortunately, do most of my shopping online. A trip to WalMart on black Friday last year cemented that, lol.

<3 you Colleen!

Kelly December 18, 2012 at 8:52 PM

I would love to read this book! I read your review & it was excellent. I just love the way she writes, it just flows. I really don’t have any crazy shopping stories, because I usually shop online to avoid all the drama! I have been in a few stores this year & some people should just stay home. They have no idea what the holidays are all about! Thank you for your generosity!

Jody Duffy December 18, 2012 at 8:52 PM

I usually start early to avoid the crowds and not have to pay for everything in one month. So nothing comes to mind. I would love to have the signed book. I ♥ Collen Hoover!!!! I need a signed book of hers. ;)

I avoid shopping at all costs! I shop online and shop early, lol

Kasey S December 18, 2012 at 8:57 PM

Oohhh iv had a crazy shopping experience… you know how crowded stores can get *sigh* well I’m not verey good with crowds and get flustered and agitated when caught in one. Well when i was hmmm maybe 15? my sister was telling me what she wanted for Christmas and kept shoving stuff at me and i just couldn’t take it anymore i put all the stuff down (i thought) and marched out of the store, only to realize i was being chased by someone other than my sister (O.O) i was like “what’d i do?” Then the angry sales lady grabbed my hand and removed an item that my sister had shoved in my hand. I had put my cell phone down instead of whatever that thing was in my hand accidentally (/.\) it was so embarrassing

I couldn’t understand it, it is a busy road, and i let people out, but not when the light is green. Anyway I would love to read this book!

Kelly S December 18, 2012 at 9:00 PM

Would love it !!!! Happy Holidays <3

LOVE, Love, love Colleen’s books!! They are butterflying awesome! For a long time my mom and I would go out on Christmas Eve to ‘mix it up’ with all the shoppers. We would always buy matching bracelets as a present to ourselves. She’s 83 now and her health prevents this outing now, but we have some fun memories of past Christmas Eves. (i.e. she pulled down a mannequin while trying to look for a size on a sweater)

Becky Warnick December 18, 2012 at 9:03 PM

I can’t wait to read this one. Happy Holidays!!

Adrienne Scales December 18, 2012 at 9:03 PM

I don’t have a crazy story. I did however have a very scary rollover accident on December 23, 1995. I had decided to do last minute Christmas shopping and I was supposed to take my son who was almost 2 with me. Just before we left for the mall, my mom called and said she would keep my son for me. So off I went alone to the mall. I was a single parent at the time and didn’t have much money. I very carefully purchased specific presents for my loved ones. On my way home I hit some ice, lost control and my car flipped upside down. I was thankfully ok. I had some bruising and some cuts from broken glass. I will never forget crawling out on my hands and knees and seeing all my presents had been thrown all over the road. I was so thankful my son wasn’t with me and obviously thankful that I wasn’t more injured. My car was totaled though. On Christmas morning my son opened one of his gifts and dirt fell out of the box. I burst into tears. Definitely a Christmas I’ll never forget.

Monica December 18, 2012 at 9:03 PM

No crazy holiday shopping stories for me unless you count checking my mail 5 times a day ! We are Air Force living in Japan and do all our shopping online . Still praying on a few things to get here !!

mindy maxwell December 18, 2012 at 9:07 PM

i WOULD LOVE HER NEW BOOK.
My crazy shopping experience was my first time out on black friday. I was literally stuck in the toy isle. I couldn’t move in any direction. People were shouting at everyone. Finally I starting throwing the $5 barbies at people and found my way out. It was crazy and addicting. I now go every year just for the experience

Karyna Uribe December 18, 2012 at 9:07 PM

Shan December 18, 2012 at 9:08 PM

Oh me oh my!!! I have an absolute girl crush on Collen…LOL!!! As for crazy Christmas story, well we do Black Friday so every year is pretty crazy, the worst has to have been on very first Black Friday spectacular, hehehehe, we were so in prepared, my husband stood in line for a day to score one of them tvs that normally go on special, he drank red bulls, double shots and straight espresso to keep himself up, I had to work that morning so my behind was nice and cozy in our SUV. Needless to say he did get that tv, but going forward we made sure we took chairs and blanket and something to keep us occupied, you can seriously get delusional after a while…

Great giveaway! I worked at a company a few years ago and the boss’s wife was going shopping on Black Friday. He said if I wanted to leave work and go shopping with her, I could. Who wouldn’t, right? So we finish shopping, there was 3 of us, and none of us could remember exactly where we parked. We thought we had it right but couldn’t find the car. After searching for 30 minutes, my boss’s wife was in tears thinking someone had stolen the car and all of the gifts she had already purchased that were in it. We had to get mall security and rode with them. What do you know? Our car was in a totally different area safe and sound. We felt like idiots.

Dawn M. December 18, 2012 at 9:10 PM

You have me hooked wanting to read this book. I’ve had no crazy shopping experiences but I had an amazing one. I won my local Kohl’s store daily Christmas shopping giveaway. I asked if I could pay the win forward to the next person which I was able to do. I stayed around to see who would win hoping it would be someone who really needed it. The amazing thing is the person who ended up winning just bought things to give away for charity. Everyone around was giving each other high fives. What a way to feel the Christmas spirit!

Emely December 18, 2012 at 9:10 PM

Sherri Smith December 18, 2012 at 9:11 PM

Ugh lord… I went to the mall last weekend and after shopping all day with my husband and two demon span children, I walked into Bath & Body Works to finish my shopping for my mom with some Cucumber Melon yummies only to be told THEY NO LONGER CARRY IT! What?! When did that happen…the lady proceeds to tell me to try Sweet Pea because they smell ‘similar’! Since when right?! I kinda blew up at the lady and yelled at her saying they smell NOTHING a like…
Hope my story is worth sharing… I feel like a giant butt retelling it!

Tricia Edwards December 18, 2012 at 9:12 PM

Awesome!! No real crazy shopping exp. I shop online.LOL.

Kylee M. December 18, 2012 at 9:12 PM

I figured I’d do a story. It’s not my own but it’s a close friends and I really liked it. She was shopping in K-Mart for her son on black friday and while waiting in line to enter the store she made friends with the lady ahead of her. The lady had told her about a sort of learning pad she had gotten for her own son, who was the same age as my friends son, and continued to explain how much he loved it and learned from it and how awesome it was. My friend was hoping to snag one in K-Mart while she was there because they were only 60 dollars which was a huge sale price. When they entered the store she quickly grabbed a cart and shot straight to the toy isle to find the learning pad. Sadly she got stuck in between two ‘stoppers’ that wouldn’t let her squeeze through. She had been waiting there in chaos for about 10 minutes trying to push her way through when she heard someone yelling her name. To her surprise the woman she met in line was racing towards her with a learning pad, she discovered that it was the last one left and the woman she met was kind enough to grab it for her! I thought that was a really awesome story because on black friday you don’t find a ton of kindness from others, it’s usually just aggression and chaos. (:

Thanks for the awesome giveaway. Huge fan of Colleen’s. (:

Kelly December 18, 2012 at 9:13 PM

Sabrina December 18, 2012 at 9:15 PM

My crazy shopping experience was —last week having to get “one” more gift for my 6 year olds– teacher. So mommy (me) after work all three kids (6,4,2) & the bookstore was packed– getting a gift card.. I was in a hurry & borrowed my husbands car that day…coming out of mall — the kids were good but for some reason I couldn’t find my CAR!!! I was thinking OMG — did someone take it — after walking up & down three rows — the sweat started to pour down my back– needless to say — 10 LONG minutes later I had the alarm go off — I was looking for MY car– not my husbands.. I had so much on my mind.. I waved at a few people feeling stupid– & telling the kids — don’t tell dad– he will make fun of me, this is our little secret… FINALLY — I found the car– so embarrassing — ahhhh holidays …

Ciarra Ornelas December 18, 2012 at 9:15 PM

Not so crazy but super funny ( and an old story ) my mom decided to me ans my brothers shopping one Xmas. We were young but I remember it like it was yesterday. She was trying to round the three of us up to leave a store. She was distracted keeping an eye on us. She thought she was heading in the direction of the exit so she was walking full speed to only crash in to the glass window. Me and the boys couldn’t stop laughing. The store was packed too. She still hasn’t lived that one down and Its been at least 20 years. Merry Christmas !

Barb December 18, 2012 at 9:16 PM

Can’t wait to read Hopeless! So excited! I really like your blog. Thanks for all the great book recommendations! I did shop on Black Friday and that is always crazy, but fun watching people running all over.

Kandi Simpson December 18, 2012 at 9:17 PM

My experience was Saturday night. My mom and I went to kohls to go shopping. When we were checking out I told mom, we done an awesome job! We saved $1022!! I said we won’t tell dad how much we actually spent though.. ($566.99) as we were leaving a woman asked if she could ask a question. I said sure.. Long story short we were chosen for kohls dream reward and they paid off moms credit card from that shopping trip minus 30% discount. So they paid $458!!!

Tanya Hinson December 18, 2012 at 9:19 PM

Several years ago I went shopping on black Friday. The big item that year was portable Dvd players and I saw two grown ladies rolling on the ground throwing serious punches over the last one at a Kohl’s….being the mature one that I was my sister and I stopped and laughed & placed a bet on which one we thought would win! To this day I always hope to have another black Friday as exciting as that. It was better than any of the sales!! :)

Jacki December 18, 2012 at 9:20 PM

Awesome giveaway! My crazy shopping experience happened the day after thanksgiving at jcpennys. They had 8 dollar appliances on sale , 15 min after the store opened we headed up only to find the shelves empty. Well low and behold there was 1 crockpot ($8) in the towel section. My friend grabbed it and along the way to the line we had 2 separate people ask if we were getting it and then even had another guy yell “get her she has the 8 buck crockpot” I felt like we had to stay in a group we were at risk of getting taken down! Lol it was fun and we got it safely at home!

Tara Perez December 18, 2012 at 9:20 PM

Loooooove Colleen Hoover!!!

Jessica pinkstaff December 18, 2012 at 9:21 PM

LaurenR December 18, 2012 at 9:21 PM

Julie December 18, 2012 at 9:23 PM

I ventured to Black Friday :/

Stacie December 18, 2012 at 9:23 PM

Most of my crazy shopping experiences have occurred on Black Friday. Dun dun dunnnn… One time, my sister and I were sitting in her parked car waiting for the store to open. The lady comes zooming by and squeezes in the spot. She parked uber close to my sister, but somehow this made her mad at us. She was muttering things like “OH MY GOD” and other inappropriate exclamations. My sister is the type that doesn’t take crap from anybody. Because this is her personality, she immediately rolled down her window and yelled “SCROOGE” as the lady walked by. It was an instant classic Black Friday shopping experience.

SOOO happy for Colleen!!! Can’t wait to read this book!

Lynn December 18, 2012 at 9:23 PM

Rose December 18, 2012 at 9:52 PM

I’m so excited for this book!! My “Christmas shopping” story would be when I was 8 months pregnant with my oldest son and went out on Black Friday to get the “deals”… I have no idea what my prego body was doing up at that time of the morning(no coffee either!) but I went to Best Buy and of course, was wayyyyy back in line. By the time I got in the store my “main” deal was gone but a man heard me talking about it and gave me one of his because he had gotten 2 and felt sorry for my being out in my “state”. Another person then gave me one of their extra’s for something else I wanted and next thing I know, this mama was a happy camper! There were luckily some very nice people at that am who were willing to share:)

Jamie December 18, 2012 at 9:53 PM

I just bought the Kindle version, but would LOVE a signed copy!!!

Flippy December 18, 2012 at 9:55 PM

All that’s missing under my tree is a signed copy of Hopeless!!! I start my Christmas shopping so early that I have managed to avoid any incidents. But that’s just the control freak in me!! :)

Kim December 18, 2012 at 9:55 PM

…trapped in a mall parking lot for 3 hours in line of cars waiting to get out, pre- cellphone…not fun.

LisaMarie December 18, 2012 at 9:56 PM

I think my crazy story would be that I don’t start Christmas shopping till about Dec 22 or 23 and that’s for about 30 people…and that’s every year!

Jen December 18, 2012 at 9:56 PM

I would LOVE this! I can’t think of a crazy shopping experience . . . other than shopping on black friday every year. Thanks!

Tammie December 18, 2012 at 9:59 PM

After your review I want to ready this one. No shopping horror stories that I remember but I try to do most of my shopping online so I’m only in trouble when the internet is down.

Jennifer N December 18, 2012 at 10:00 PM

What a great giveaway!!! Sorry to say I don’t have any exciting holiday shopping experiences! Sorry;) It is just crazy busy out there!!

Sarah Underwood December 18, 2012 at 10:00 PM

I would LOOOOVVVVEEEEE this book!!! I have just started my shopping, i HATE shopping at Xmas time!!!! Thank goodness i only have 7 people to buy for this year!!

Kim brown December 18, 2012 at 10:02 PM

Come on. Momma needs this book. I was an accountant at walmart for years and oh the stories about the gypsies that would come in.

Sarah Stevener December 18, 2012 at 10:03 PM

I went to Toys R Us today to look for a few items I haven’t ordered online yet and the looks on all the other parents/grandparents/friends/etc. was so funny. Everyone had the same look in their eye, searching for just the right thing to make their little person’s Christmas special. Unfortunately, I didn’t find what I was looking for…thank goodness for the internet because it’s ordered and will be on it’s way to me.

Anita Fleming December 18, 2012 at 10:03 PM

Would absolutely love to win one of these books!! Black Friday standing in front of a store at 5am in the snow and freezing and waiting for it to open. Augh….never again…LOL

Jessika December 18, 2012 at 10:04 PM

I love this book! & I hope I win. There are actually two crazy shopping experiences I have had.

1) I went black friday shopping two years ago & a poor helpless lady got punched in the nose by a guy over a DVD. Needless to say, I was speechless, the guy was a nutcase, & the poor woman really needed a tissue.

2) This year at black friday, I was waiting in line forever to get a 4 set phone deal for my mother that was dying for it. When the clock struck 10 & the deal was open. I went down low to get a set got clock on top of the head with someones elbow, got pushed into a buggy to leave a red bruise, & laughed my butt off that people get that crazy over black friday. From that day on my friends & I decreed it “Happy Black Friday games, and may the odds be ever in your favor”.

Thanks for the opportunity, Maryse!

Angela December 18, 2012 at 10:04 PM

Shawna December 18, 2012 at 10:08 PM

Merry Christmas!! I would LOVE a new book to read! Trying to find a “good read” haven’t found a book that just “sucked me in” in a long while…

Tiffany Clark December 18, 2012 at 10:09 PM

I just started this book tonite and loving it so far!! Would love to win a copy!! My crazy shopping experience just happened last weekend. We live in a small town so my husband and I thought we would go about an hour away and find exactly what we were looking for. So we go to best buy to buy a Halo 4 x-box limited edition. Well guess what they were completely sold out every best buy in Oklahoma. So we go ahead and buy a regular one with all the halo stuff on our way home we decide to stop in at Walmart in our little town and guess what?! They have it!! So of course we buy it and take the other one back the next day! We were so excited but I think we learned our lesson to try home first!!!

Anna Estep December 18, 2012 at 10:11 PM

I would love a signed copy of Hopeless!
I’ve only had one bad experience this season. This year is the first year I shopped on Black Friday in my area. I try to avoid all the crazy people. They had big racks of clothes blocking off the usual paths in Walmart. While I was heading to find a line, a clothes rack went flying across the path and ran into a lady and her cart in front of me. The sales associate tried to push the people back and failed. When the culprits came through they were yelling and screaming at all of us standing there because we were in their way of cutting through.

Danielle December 18, 2012 at 10:11 PM

Can’t wait!! Would love to have this book to keep on my bookshelf after I read it 20 times

Ezinwanyi December 18, 2012 at 10:11 PM

I’m almost done with all my xmas shopping this year. I did most of mine online to avoid all of those “funny” stories. lol!

Nancy L.R December 18, 2012 at 10:13 PM

Most craziest Christmas shopping experience will have to be when my boyfriend and I “LOST” HIS NEPHEW at the mall… We went shopping for last minute gifts, yes this is us EVERY year. Well we take care of his 5 year old nephew every afternoon, he was 3 when this happened. We were at the mall, a bunch of bags in hand and the mall gets CRAZY. we were passing baby gap and I say, “Oh we should buy Noah something…” We just stopped and looked at each other. After that it was pretty much chaos. i was crying and freaking out, he was yelling at me to calm down and stop crying. Finally we just decided to go to the security and police officers, and call his sister. The minute she answered her cell I started balling. My boyfriend took over and told her everything, when I looked him he was just staring at me, then he starts cursing and laughing. We sort of, uh forgot we had left him with my mother in law… LOL! We were so stressed out we didn’t even remember!. That’s holiday stress for ya. We did get in trouble though cause it took us so long to notice he was gone. But yay to our whacked out minds!

brandi December 18, 2012 at 10:14 PM

Love Colleen Hoover’s books. Would love to read this one as well. No crazy shopping stories, I did a lot of my shopping online this year. I did have to buy 3 American Dolls bc I have three daughters, so I think I must have lost my mind spending that much $$$ on dolls.

Jody December 18, 2012 at 10:28 PM

Today I decided to do some random acts of kindness. It was a great feeling! I helped a lady carry out really heavy items from a store. I put $5 toward the next customers order at a sandwich shop, I complemented the worker on his awesome eyes. Im pretty sure he thought I was hitting on him but whatever, still made him smile. Then I went to Starbucks and got a latte and a gift card. Then I turned around and gave it to the lady behind me. She was so surprised and grateful that she hugged me. I then made home made lava lamps for my sons 3rd grade class. They all hugged me too:)

Tiffany December 18, 2012 at 10:29 PM

Trisha R. December 18, 2012 at 10:54 PM

I really don’t have any crazy shopping experiences yet to tell but one disappointing one. I actually didn’t want to go shopping that day but I had to because it was winter and my old boots were worn out so I had to go out and look for one I like anyways I was wearing my favourite dark blue scarf, my aunt sent me it, I went to the bathroom and probably forgot it so when I went back – which wasn’t so long and it was no longer there. I looked everywhere didn’t find it. Even asked the lost and found people there the next day and they didn’t have it. Forever lost, oh well I bought myself a pretty red scarf. My now favourite and I am always careful not to lose it hehe ;P.

Karina December 18, 2012 at 10:55 PM

I found the perfect gift, a Mark Sanchez lamented football card framed:)

Alyssa Susanna December 18, 2012 at 11:02 PM

Cristina December 18, 2012 at 11:06 PM

Oooh cool! :) Loved Slammed & Point of Retreat. Needless to say I am sooo looking fwd to reading Hoover’s next book.

As for crazy shopping experience? Last week (I am 21 weeks pregnant and shopping with my 22 month old daughter) I am waiting for the cashier to give me the video game she had held for my behind the counter while I finish my shopping. When I was ready to purchase item, cashier told me she would be right back because she was helping someone at the time. There was one person behind me waiting. When the cashier came back, she thought that I was being helped by someone else (who was on the phone helping someone on the phone) & took the person behind me who wasn’t even planning to buy something in the electronics dept & had questions regarding toys. :/ I told cashier I was here first & she sincerely apologized & assisted me first. The customer on the other hand gave me a rude look & I could have sworn she even rolled her eyes at me. Whatever! Don’t mess with a pregnant women w/ an active child ready to get out of the cart & leave the store.

Michelle M. December 18, 2012 at 11:12 PM

Oh, do I have a great crazy holiday shopping story! And it’s a GOOD crazy compared to so much horror in the news this last week (my daughter-in-law works at the Clackamas Town Center mall where a shooting occurred). I was getting a mocha this weekend and the person in line in front of me in the drive-thru paid for my coffee! The barista joked and said it was Santa and that I should “pay it forward”. I’ve left the empty coffee cup in the cup holder in my car to remind me to pay it foward. So, I was in KMart tonight when the young woman two places in front of me in line was short some cash on her purchase of what were clearly kids Christmas presents. There was a language barrier and she didn’t understand why one of the items didn’t have a discount. The woman in line between us was really impatient and getting totally pissed off and the young mom was trying to figure out what present to put back. I gave the clerk the money and told the mom Merry Christmas. She had tears in her eyes when she said thank you and hugged me! There might have been a language barrier, but smiles don’t need translation. And I’m choosing to believe she’s going to pay it forward, too. :D

Casey December 18, 2012 at 11:13 PM

Me pleasw!!

Michaela December 18, 2012 at 11:14 PM

Unfortunately, I don’t have a crazy shopping story! I’ve seen numerous people go nuts over items on sale on black friday though! This year, the Nook’s were on sale at Walmart. One guy literally climbed onto somebody else, knocking a couple people over to get to the metal cage thing that surrounded the nooks! Needless to say, he was kicked out, but the security guards let him keep the nook he grabbed! I watched from afar, thankfully, because his launch onto unsuspecting people didn’t look comfortable or safe. Luckily, nobody was hurt! (People will do anything to read! :) )

Thanks again for doing this 25 days of Christmas giveaway! I love Colleen Hoover’s Point Of Retreat and Slammed! I can only imagine Hopeless will pack the same punch!!

Annie December 18, 2012 at 11:14 PM

DeeDee Griffin December 18, 2012 at 11:25 PM

I can’t even tell you how bad I want to read this!!! I can’t think of a crazy shopping experience, but I did remember a funny story related to christmas shopping so here goes. In college, I shared an apartment with my sister, and we’re opening presents on christmas morning. The first thing I opened from her was a koozie cup. Then I got some lighters. And then some scratch off lottery tickets. Finally she fessed up that she waited til the last minute to do her christmas shopping, and the only think open on christmas eve after midnight was Circle K!!

Nancy December 18, 2012 at 11:27 PM

I saw two ladies fighting over a tv in Kmart and one bit the others hand! Crazy! And I really want a copy please!

Those fryers are hazardous they should be outlawed. Everything ended up fine and well the turkey is always baked now.

LucyLou December 18, 2012 at 11:33 PM

OMG!!!! I want to win this sooooo bad!!! My craziest shopping experience was waiting in an automobile line just to get into the mall. The parking lot was full and security only let cars in when others left.

Great way to jump start this holiday by a great read by a great author. Such an inspiration through and through!

Kit December 19, 2012 at 12:02 AM

I live in New Orleans..so holiday shopping can be a nightmare when looking for parking. I also happen to have a small car , unlike many SUV driving women, in my area. Anyway, my adventure for holiday shopping, occurred at a mall. I happened across an open spot and whipped in, thinking SCORE, as I sat in my car jamming out to matchbox20′s “shes so mean” and tucking away my radar detector I fail to notice other cars around me backing up and pulling in. I go over my list and mentally plan my attack , again jamming out to another good song.

Finally, a commercial comes on so I can now exit my car…as I try to I realize that the person who parked Next to me on my side is so close I can’t open my door! Bitching to myself I think FINE! I’ll crawl, over into the passenger side and get out there..but what do I see ….another SUV has blocked me in!!! Now most sane people would think just back out and get a new spot..not me oh noooo its all about the win of a great spot at the mall. So plan C kicks in..I crawl into my back seat, lower the seat that opens into my trunk and exit my car from the trunk of my car!

Thankfully when I returned several hours later I didn’t have to enter my car the same way.

Linh December 19, 2012 at 12:02 AM

Make my wish come true Maryse!

Amy W December 19, 2012 at 12:04 AM

My crazy story is one year on the day after Thanksgiving my husband for the first and only time went shopping with me. We waited in line at Menards for 45 minutes of him looking around like he was in a nut house and complaining it was cold. When we finally went in and started shopping my husband was run down by a little old lady trying to get a big pack of batteries for $1.99. Now my husband is 6′ 4″ tall and weighs about 220. He did pick himself up off the ground but never went day after Thanksgiving shopping again.

I am so excited for this book. Slammed and POR is in my top 10 favorite of all time books. Colleen is an amazing author.

Rhonda December 19, 2012 at 12:06 AM

Well there was this one time I was waiting in line at the checkout and this lady in front of me starts to put her stuff on the belt then mid way just walks off the cashier looked at me like WTH so she started to ring me up since I had a few items but when the lady returned she tried to start a fight with me because I skipped over her in line. Really!?!?? The nerve of some people. I just smiled and said Merry Christmas and left. Had to leave it ona good note or it would have bugged me. :)

Hopeless!!!! I will read ANYTHING by Colleen Hoover :) & I wish I had a crazy shopping story!

Karolina December 19, 2012 at 1:21 AM

The strangest thing that ever happened was I found the same 2 couples at each of the same stores that I went to. The stores were all a short driving distance away and they were all different (Best Buy, Joann Fabrics, Bed, Bath&Beyond) Almost felt like I was being followed by them. By the 3rd store, I bumped into 1 of the couples and started joking around with them. The funny thing is they thought I was following them and it turned out to be all a coincidence.

Evelyn Recinos December 19, 2012 at 1:25 AM

The only crazy shipping experience is standing one thanksgiving night in line for 6 hrs or TArget and it was freezing cold!

Joanne December 19, 2012 at 1:50 AM

franchie15 December 19, 2012 at 2:00 AM

Merry Christmas to all!

I don’t have such crazy christmas shopping experience because I tend to buy like weeks before the rush. So I’m gonna share a crazy experience without christmas shopping. My friends and I were eating street food obviously in a street, a long one. Then there was this girl who went up to us selling some flowers. Since I won’t use the flowers anyway, I just bought her quail eggs too! After buying for her, we went to the other end of the street to buy another food. After a few minutes, the girl appeared in front of us again. At first, I thought she was trying to give me the flowers since I bought her food. So I started to say that it’s okay, I don’t need it anyway. But she kept on insisting. Then my friend immediately told me that she was actually selling the flowers to me! I don’t know if she doesn’t remember that I just bought her food or what. It’s simply crazy! So without thinking, I immediately told her in a nice way that I just bought food for her! And guess what, she was the one who had the nerves to be mad. She immediately walked out. It was really crazy for me.

I can’t wait to read Hopeless. <3

I cannot wait to read this book!!!!! I don’t have any crazy Christmas shopping experiences to share. The only thing I HAVE learnt is not to buy chocolate gifts for friends and then spend hours continuing to shop and dawdling in the carpark because they MELT (I am in Australia) and chocolate melting through all your other gifts in the bag is NOT a good experience! Merry Christmas Maryse!

Kirsty Lander December 19, 2012 at 4:32 AM

I am 20% in to Hopeless and I am loving every second of it.

I don’t personally have a crazy Christmas story so I’m stealing my mum and SIL’s. Last Christmas they went to the local supermarket for an alcohol stock up. Only when they got there there was a man having as full on argument WITH the alcohol aisle and it resulted in him smashing every bottle of alcohol in sight. Needless to say we had a sober night!

Jordana December 19, 2012 at 4:36 AM

Choose Brazil!!!

Jean Creaven December 19, 2012 at 4:48 AM

Well this isn’t a shopping story but instead a total mommy mess up. My 5 year old son has been asking for an electric guitar for Christmas. Instead of going to the store and buying one I went on Craig’s list and found a good one at a great price. We get him it and my husband decided to take a few of the old screws out of it at a time and polish them ( he’s a tool maker). For the last few weeks I have been taking it out on this lunch break and finding it when he leaves. Now to this past Monday, hubby come home and puts back the last screws and back to work he goes. My almost 2 year old takes a nap and so does the tired mommy. My alarm beeps on my phone, jolts me awake, time to pick up the kids from school. So off to the kids and when I get home I look at my sink and realize I need to do the dishes, while setting up my daughter with her snack and homework. All of the sudden I hear the strumming of the electric guitar and my son asking who’s “rocking guitar” it is. So I stop everything run to him, grad the guitar bag ( he only had it open a little bit) and run with it to my room. Try to convince a little boy he didn’t see the one present he has been asking for for 5 months. It’s impossible. Still trying to figure out an idea of what to say on Christmas morning. :/

Tammi December 19, 2012 at 4:56 AM

No crazy shopping experiences here but I’d love to win a copy of Hopeless! Great giveaway!

Elaine Loftin December 19, 2012 at 6:45 AM

Haven’t read the book yet, but I plan too. However, I am already finding out that I will need to wait on another book so I am nervous about reading it as there might not be a HEA. I am such a romantic.

Kelly Watson December 19, 2012 at 6:49 AM

Sooo looking forward to this book. Slammed and POR were amazing!

Tjitske van Gosliga December 19, 2012 at 6:57 AM

First I need to say that I’m obsessed with the slammed books and I’m sure I will become obsessed with this one as well! I don’t have a Christmas shopping madness but more of a blooper…
When I was about nine years old I went with my sister and mom to do Christmas shopping and at that age I went through a phase that I had to walk sometimes with my eyes closed (I guess I thought I had a sixth sense) and walked straight into a pole (so much for that sixth sense) here I was laying on the ground…..it was like’where the butterfly did that thing come from? And so much for my mom and sister not even bothering to warn me about that sucker! Believe me thatwas the end of my phase of walking with my eyes closed! Butterflying headache!

Kyra December 19, 2012 at 7:00 AM

Jenn December 19, 2012 at 7:58 AM

Well my crazy is I had to take my 4 year old step-son x-mas shopping with me and the bad part it was for him. I did not have a choice though I had to take him. So I was trying to put things in the cart incognito and it wasn’t working out too well for me as he was trying to play with everything so I took my coat off; I would distract him and place items in cart under my coat. Seems logical right….well that was until I was approached by security thinking I was trying to um steal. I was so embarrassed; and while I was explaining I started to break down and he just laughed and said sorry miss…Have a very merry x-mas. Needless to say that was the last time I took him shopping with me until he was much older…now he is almost 16 but I will never forget that. OH and yes would love to be one of the lucky 5 winners. Absolutely adore this author.

Raelene December 19, 2012 at 7:59 AM

Rhonda Beyer December 19, 2012 at 8:23 AM

This year I went black Friday shopping, as usual. When we went in for the night we only took in the other ladies bags and I left all my purchases in my fully restored 1979 suburban (my husband just bought and restored for me). When I went to drive the hour home the next morning my window was shattered and my door was all dented they must have gotten frustrated when they couldn’t brake the window quickly and went at the door with a crow-bar. Needless to say I lost hundreds of dollars in children’s toys and have hundreds of dollars in damage to my truck. So that’s my crazy SAD story this year. I just hope some children that may not have had a good Christmas will be getting one now.

Jessica Katz December 19, 2012 at 8:23 AM

Regarding this scene from your review,
“Let me inform you of something,” he whispers. “The moment my lips touch yours, it will be your first kiss. Because if you’ve never felt anything when someone’s kissed you, then no one’s ever really kissed you. Not the way I plan on kissing you.
OMG! If that doesn’t make your insides quiver nothing will. I can’t wait to get my hands on this book!

It’s almost Christmas! My craziest shopping experience was tagging along with my best friend – who shops AFTER Christmas! She delivers all her presents on New Years Eve (always has) – and gets those items that people wanted and didn’t get – and, of course – gets them on sale. I still can’t believe she gets away with it – but, she does!

Crazy Christmas shopping experience…hmmmm….I watched someone pee in a fitting room once. Yep, just pulled ‘em down and went right there in front of me on a pile of clothes. I guess in too much of a Christmas frenzy to actually go to the rest room. Now that I think about it…I have been somewhat scared of fitting rooms since!

Tessa December 19, 2012 at 11:23 AM

Brandi Wa December 19, 2012 at 11:53 AM

I live in HI, so businesses take quite awhile before opening a store/restaurant here. So, when Wal-Mart finally decided to open, everyone was so happy! One of the first years they opened, I was a nut and decided to go there for black friday shopping. The chaos was insane…but guess what they were going crazy for? Cases of Spam. I kid you not, that’s what everyone headed for…carts were filled with cases and cases of spam. Oh, and bags of rice. They were trying to push around carts filled with 20# bags of rice. It was the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. At least I got to grab stuff from everywhere else in the store while they were all yelling for spam and rice (which are staple foods here in HI, lol).

Nikki Eddy December 19, 2012 at 11:55 AM

Craziest Christmas shopping day was Black Friday. I jaywalked in front of cop and my sister apologized to the cop and he rolled down his window and told said to me “that’s my girl” did I mention he was cute lol. Then my sister did a complete circle in the middle of the road calling it and “oie” after that we snuck into Santas workshop to take a picture :) all of this took place between the hours of 12:00 am and 5:00 am. We were shopping that whole time. We had a blast and definitely a Black Friday to remember!!

I don’t have a particular experience but I do love the high you get from black Friday shopping. The planning and game plan leading up to the day and the crazy stores.

Laura Fincher December 19, 2012 at 1:26 PM

Karyn December 19, 2012 at 1:27 PM

Happy holidays! It would be butterflying fantastic to get a copy of this book, especially after your review!

A few weeks ago I had been out shopping for my kids’ gifts, and every item I was looking for was sold out (Toys r’us, Walmart, Target,…), That should have been my sign to go home. I decided to make one last stop to Best Buy to look at some of the tablets. As I was testing one of the tables on display, I accidentally pulled the security device off the tablet, and the alarm on the device starting going off…loud enough to attract the attention of other shoppers. I was so embarassed. I left, called my husband to let me know I had a very unsuccessful holiday shopping day. After that, I decided to do a lot of purchasing on-line.

I hope your shopping has been much more successful.

Artemis December 19, 2012 at 1:28 PM

I haven’t started shopping yet. I love the story of “Hopeless“, thank you for the chance.

Last week I was driving around the mall parking lot looking for a spot. A lady came out of the store and pointed to the isle her car was in, I rolled down my window to thanked her and then followed her to her car. The spot was on the opposite side of the row in which the way I was driving down it. Once I got to the spot I put on my turn signal to snag it. As she pulled out of the spot a lady (going the right direction down the row) cut me off and pulled into the spot. The lady who had just pulled out stopped and looked at me, we were both laughing, neither of us could believe the other lady blatantly took my spot! The lady who “stole” my spot rolled her window down and yelled at us that it was her spot because I wasn’t following the correct traffic pattern…whatever lady, Merry Christmas!!! :-)

This weekeend i was out of some store with all my bags and It was rainning and i felt; ended up wet, dirty and almost crying in front of all the people that was trying to get to a safe place so no one helped me T_T , is not crazy but my anckle hurts like hell thanks that moment.

Okayyy so I have Many crazy stories but the one that pops out the most now is me taking my mother In law at the last minute of course and she is handicapped (due to loss of her right leg) but I take her to the next state over to shop and I talk her into riding one of the motorized wheelchair well big mistake… First she runs the thing up the back of my heels, turns a corner takes out a shelf and she actually leaves like she has done nothing and turns another corner to take out a ladies buggy… Then yells for me and as I turn a corner to runs me over with the thing… Hard lesson learned now I push her in her wheelchair:)
