Outtakes from the Grave (Night Huntress Book 8) by Jeaniene Frost – December 22nd 2015 – yesssssssss!

Maryse December 14, 2015 at 4:14 PM

I KNOW!!!! I’ve read every single one in that series. That one was my obsession!!!!!

Amy December 14, 2015 at 4:48 PM

Oh, I am ALL OVER Dear Professor! *wiggles in seat*

Break Even and Who We Were are definite preorders. The blurb for Breaking Even made my heart do a little flip-flop…sounds like she is married and being tempted, and then there’s this: “One man wants to break me. The other is just trying to get even. Both are lying to me.” *squeeeeeee!!!!*

Ela December 14, 2015 at 4:54 PM

OMG AMY THAT SOUNDS LIKE MY KIND OF BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT!

bev December 14, 2015 at 5:49 PM

I want a type. I feel like I don’t have a book type.

Maryse December 14, 2015 at 6:09 PM

Hey bev… I know a book that resembles your book type. ;) *snort* :P

Theresa December 14, 2015 at 6:18 PM

Cat and Bones – I hope this is good. I’ll take anything, oh why did they have to end! I’m obsessed tooooo!
If you liked them Jeanne stein had a great herione series – Anna Strong

bev December 14, 2015 at 6:20 PM

Lol. Anytime.

You know to be really honest, I think I might read the least amount of recs. That is horrible since I am always, “Hey, read this…..” to you ladies.
I buy a lot of them, just never seem to read them.

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 6:40 PM

Then you’ll have to start grabbing those that look good and tell us so we can give you more recs. :D

*SQUEEEES* That’s for Out of Plans. The first book was insane, which I love. Her books are all insane. Face it, her tamest book is about having an affair. Dear Professor is a Kindle Unlimited, so MINE.

Broken Promises… Yes. I and a lot of other people have been waiting for Tristan’s story. I’m wishlisting until after Christmas, because it’s going to TEAR MY HEART OUT! Yes, yelling. The first part, The Secret Life of Tristan Scott totally made me fall in love. This one is going to hurt.

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 6:41 PM

lol and autocorrect replaced Trystan with Tristan.

Amy December 14, 2015 at 6:54 PM

*perks up* Tear your heart out?? I gotta look and see if I have any of the Tristan Scott books…

Oh Bevvvvvvvvvv, speaking of reading recs…weren’t you supposed to read one of mine if I read Jellicoe Road? *AHEM!!* In the Fields or Lily of the Springs. I’ll be happy with either of those, thankyouverymuch. *crosses arms and nods head*

bev December 14, 2015 at 7:02 PM

Lily of the Springs?? That does not even sound familiar. Have to look up.

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 7:07 PM

Amy, I have to give warning. The first of the Trystan Scott books are in HS, and it’s from the girl’s POV and being his friend and falling in love. This one is ten years later…. and STUFF HAPPENED! That’s why I’m scared of this one. A standalone, though. I just… I read that first series and fell utterly in love with the couple. I’m worried about a Danika and Tristan (weird coincidence) heartbreak.

Amy December 14, 2015 at 7:13 PM

Lily of the Springs is SO freaking great, Bev! Five stars for me. What’s funny is that normally I would be furious at a storyline like that if it was set in modern-day times and would probably DNF it, but because of it being in the 1950′s when women were so limited in options and restricted by what was expected of them, I was able to fall in love with the story. Even though she faces all kinds of frustration and heartache because of her husband (it was literally a shot gun wedding complete with the town sheriff, LOL!), she never comes across as whiny. More like long-suffering. And the ending…BAM! So satisfying. *props chin in hand and sighs* I loved it.

Amy December 14, 2015 at 7:18 PM

*snort* And I WANT a T&D heartbreak, Tessa. ;)

Actually, all of what you described sounds perfect to me! Unless the H cheats on her and she takes him back all doe-eyed. *cringes* Is that what you’re trying to warn me about? Or am I asking a totally spoilery question?

Michelle December 14, 2015 at 7:38 PM

I’m baackkk and missed chatting with everyone! My vacation out in Colorado was amazing and I wish that state was closer to all my family because I adore it!

I missed A LOT here and have to get back on pace to read all the books I want to by the end of the year. Did I completely miss the buddy read of The Bronze Horseman – did you all love it? I might ease back into reading with Withering Hope since that review got me intrigued and I’ve had that book since it came out. Of course I’m getting the Jeaniene Frost up there. What other books did I miss in the last 2 weeks that I have to get?

bev December 14, 2015 at 7:48 PM

Nope. No br of BH.
Blame Amy.

There is some books that Maryse went crazy for and some are doing a br of it. But I say you should read Dumplin or Act like it.:-)

Oh, and Lisa is reading WiR!!!
And Maryse has a quirk.

fabi December 14, 2015 at 8:05 PM

Michelle! Missed you!!! Glad you enjoyed CO. It’s beautiful.

Amy December 14, 2015 at 8:07 PM

Hey now, that’s enough! *stomps foot*

bev December 14, 2015 at 8:09 PM

Amy, you using words like “BAM” & then sighing in joy scare me.

Amy December 14, 2015 at 8:10 PM

I’ll tell you what you missed Michelle…Bev is going to read In the Fields or Lily of the Springs. Yes she is.

*side-eyes Bev* Yes…you will. Or I’ll drive you out to Jellicoe Road and leave your a$$ with the poppies.

Amy December 14, 2015 at 8:18 PM

LOL Bev!! Actually, the sighs of contentment aren’t from getting my heart broken by LotS. There wasn’t really the usual turmoil that makes me happy dance. My heart hurt for her at times and I was beyond frustrated for what she had to put up with, but her matter-of-fact voice and the way things wrapped up were just PERFECT. :D

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 8:25 PM

What happened? I have NO IDEA. That’s why I want to read it. Here I am in happy HEA land and BOOM! I read a Ferro book and they are not together and he’s all depressed and I don’t know what! Then, read the synopsis and and and… WTF happened?

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 8:29 PM

Michelle, uh, you missed uh… Stuffs? I still haven’t read Sweet Ruin, so I’ve no idea there. Anybody?

Michelle December 14, 2015 at 8:40 PM

No BH, too busy reading In the Fields and Lily of the Springs huh Bev ;)

I haven’t read either but I would give one a go Amy. I have In the Fields from when it was mentioned a while back. Which one should I go with after Withering Hope?

Lisa, hope you love WiR and then can help us convince/completely…uh gently badger Maryse into reading it!

Fabi, I really missed talking books with y’all too! I’ve recently learned a few vet techs at work like our kind of books so we’ve been having fun giving each other recs and I told them about this site of course! The one tech had all these PNR recs that I’ve never heard of and I was like how is that possible when we are talking about one of my favorite genres?! Really excited to try some of them out and report back if I find some gems :D

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 8:46 PM

*pokes gently* PNR recs? I could use them, though right now, my new find is keeping me happy. I’m only on book two and it’s too fun for words. Debra Dunbar’s Imp Series. :D

bev December 14, 2015 at 9:06 PM

Since I already have In the Fields…..

kathryn December 14, 2015 at 10:30 PM

I’m so excited to see my angsty Crazy Beautiful Lies on your list :)

Maryse December 14, 2015 at 11:13 PM

Oooooh bev I do?? What’s my quirk?

Gah I have SO many I wanna know which one you noticed…

Maryse December 14, 2015 at 11:13 PM

My pleasure Kathryn!!! :D

Tessa December 14, 2015 at 11:21 PM

The quirk of realizing a movie isn’t as good all grown up versus watching it as a teen. Still quirks.

bev December 14, 2015 at 11:35 PM

Lol. Yes, Tessa’s reason for The Princess Bride not working for you. :-)

Ela December 15, 2015 at 9:02 AM

Sweet Ruin Rocked! That’s what!

Jean December 15, 2015 at 10:48 AM

Tessa, been waiting like you forever for Broken Promises!!!! Love Trystan….my heart was on the floor! And then we had to wait all this time….ugh! Amy, I think you will love!

So excited about Perfect Ruin! Great author and series (spinoff from Tear Asunder series)!

Jean December 15, 2015 at 12:05 PM

Hardback book of Illuminae just delivered to my office….wow, just wow! It’s indescribable!

Ela December 15, 2015 at 12:08 PM

I wish I could be as excited as you Jean but that author lost me with The Arrangement having 21 installments at 2.99 a piece (1st one being free). I was so excited for these serials too but then got to 8 and found she was planning on writing MANY more, if this were one giant book it would cost $59.80 AND that’s what REALLY bothered me AND it looks like more to come??? I’m sorry but that is just not right IMO…

Ok, Rant Over….Carry ON

Theresa December 15, 2015 at 12:13 PM

The King , T. M Frazier went on sale for .99.
Did anyone read Lawless yet?
Just finished The Man I Love – think I need a breather before the next 500 page book. It was a beautifully written book, but I think in this case I could have been happy with a shorter version. Think I’ll read the Bella Jewel.

Fabi December 15, 2015 at 12:14 PM

awwww Jean !!! I don’t know how or why but I am seriously in love with that book. Maybe because it’s so unique and so now and sci fi and YA and and and…

I know! I’m totally a broken record.

Fabi December 15, 2015 at 12:17 PM

OMG, I just saw the new Shay Savage book up top. *one-click*

Kandace, thoughts and prayers your way.

Tessa December 15, 2015 at 12:22 PM

Ela, I totally get you with her Ferro series. I read them with Kindle Unlimited, so I didn’t get hit hard for them, but I can’t imagine paying that much money for so few pages. The Trystan Scott series, though, aren’t as many books. This last one is a “standalone” which I can totally see. I just think if you’ve read the other books, the impact is going to hurt big time. I fell in love with that couple, then to read that synopsis. *sniffles*

Jean, if you read it, please tell me how good it is. I will get to it, just after my need for happy goes away. I’m gonna read Out of Plans, no problem, because the author has you laughing even as your heart clutches in pain. I love her writing.

I will read Sweet Ruin, just not until AFTER Christmas. Of course, January releases will hit then, including the next Fever book. *sighs* So many books!

Finished Satan’s Sword by Debra Dunbar. Why did I not read these earlier? *cries* They are good.

Jean December 15, 2015 at 1:02 PM

Oh Ela. I totally agree with you on the Arrangement series. I was getting so mad with the cliffhangers….stopped around book 17 and refused to go back to it! Especially with the prices of them!

But the Trystan story was a whole separate series and I loved it! Been waiting for the follow up for over a year I think!

Ela December 15, 2015 at 1:07 PM

Ok Jean, I’ll take a look but with all these others it’s gonna be hard!

Amy December 15, 2015 at 1:13 PM

Tessa and Jean…do you guys think it would be worth it to get KU for the Ferro series (*giggle* that totally looks like “get knocked up”…anyways…) considering the price of the books? And at what book could I stop and then start the TS series to get the full impact? I just remember with T&D that they were introduced briefly in book 3 (if I remember correctly) but that one scene and the palpable heartache between them was enough to make me want to jump into their story.

Fabi December 15, 2015 at 1:18 PM

Amy, there used to be a 30 day trial of KU. You might see if it’s still available. Then you can cancel if you prefer to own your books. KU is basically a lending library with a membership fee.

Amy December 15, 2015 at 1:22 PM

Michelle…I loved ITF but I loved LotS even more. That being said, ITF has much more emotion, and I was heartbroken and even crying at one part. It was beautiful though. LotS for me was more repeatedly thinking “ugh, are you SERIOUS?!?” and my blood pressure skyrocketing every time he would be an idiot, but yet I never was angry or frustrated with her. Like I said before, she doesn’t come off as whiny or feeling sorry for herself…she was more like “yeah this sucks, but life goes on.” It was just SO different for me, and I *loved* the new and different feels that it gave me.

Tessa December 15, 2015 at 1:23 PM

T and D were a different author. :) The Trystan Scott series is by HM Ward, popular for those OH SO TINY books. Unfortunately the series isn’t in KU anymore. *frowns* However, they have 1-5 for ten dollars. *snickers* Seriously, the author’s books are way too expensive, but darn if I didn’t love Trystan Scott’s books. I admit, I just got the last one with my Kindle Unlimited subscription just to get it before it goes out of the program. The Ferro series…. UGH Just ugh!

Kindle Unlimited, Knocked Up… sure. :P I should point out I got Dear Professor with the program too.

Amy December 15, 2015 at 1:24 PM

Ooh! I just checked and there is still a free 30-day trial for KU…thank you, Fabi!! :D

Amy December 15, 2015 at 1:35 PM

Wait…they’re not available on KU anymore, Tessa? Aren’t there, like, 20 books in the Ferro Family series?!?

I need to figure out the series order (unless Maryse has it already) because these are the books I have right now as they are titled in my library:
The Arrangement (The Arrangement: Ferro Family Book 1)
Damaged: The Ferro Family (Damaged series Book 1)
Collide – The Secret Life of Trystan Scott #1
Broken Promises (Trystan Scott novel)

I also have Second Chances by HM Ward…any relation to the Ferro or TS series? Oh man, my head it spinning right now…

Jean December 15, 2015 at 2:58 PM

I’ve been struggling with whether to get KU….but I’m a hoarder of books….don’t want to see them disappear!

Amy, it is confusing. I’ve read Arrangement 1-17 and don’t know if you need to really. Damaged and Damaged 2 were great. The Proposition series….sad but great! Each is about one of the Ferros. I have not read the Secrets series yet but have it! But the Trystan Scott series I kinda consider standalone, especially the first 5 books since he’s not even involved with the Ferros at that point. I just checked…..i have the box set and its lendable! You interested?

Tessa December 15, 2015 at 3:48 PM

The Trystan Scotts series can be read outside of the Ferro family’s series. His first five (It’s basically the whole first story) are bundled for 9.99. After that, you can go straight to the newest, which is a KU book. :D

Honestly, KU is awesme in my opinion. There are a lot of books available, and some authors put the books there for a month after they’ve released it, or the opposite, release it in KU, then go to regular. Either way, I’ve gotten tons of books for that ten dollars a month.

Amy December 15, 2015 at 5:37 PM

The box set of the Trystan Scott books or the box set of the Ferro Family series?

Jean December 15, 2015 at 5:42 PM

The TS box set. It’s 5 books but they are more like short novellas made into one complete book. Let me know. I’ll send it over when you are ready!

MichelleS December 15, 2015 at 6:49 PM

Theresa – I’m reading Lawless right now. It’s pretty gritty. Poor Bear. And poor Thia. Sheesh. So much bad stuff happening….. (I love it though). ;-)

MichelleS December 15, 2015 at 6:50 PM

And Michelle – welcome back! I’ve been kind of MIA myself. Popping in occasionally. Been super slammed lately. It is the season. Miss all of ya’ll.

Michelle December 15, 2015 at 7:51 PM

Tessa, I have a list and will certainly share the recs. The Imp series I haven’t read but I have the first book. I almost started it a few months back but got distracted by something shinier.

Jean, isn’t Illuminae so cool you do not even have words! I already desperately want book 2!

Ok Amy you sold me, I’m grabbing Lily of the Springs to read next :D

Agree that KU is awesome. I’ve had it for I think 6 months now. I have too many books so I like it to try out reads and then I add them to my wishlist to watch for a sale if I liked enough to buy. Also the audiobook selection is pretty good and I’ve been listening to those on my way to work.

Jean December 15, 2015 at 8:22 PM

Michelle, the book itself is just amazing. I looked at it, flipped the pages, and carefully rewrapped it. It is soooo cool!!! Not sure when I’ll read it yet.

Thanks for that info on King sale (I forget who mentioned it here or where). Been wanting that!

Cheryl December 15, 2015 at 9:54 PM

Who We Were and Dear Professor sound good to me!

I’ve debated on Kindle Unlimited, but i would have to be more disciplined about reading what I click on, instead of one-clicking and adding to my tbr list. Isn’t there another option now, seems like I saw something else for kindle…have to look into….

Cheryl December 15, 2015 at 9:56 PM

Michelle, didn’t realize audiobooks were part of KU too.

Amy December 16, 2015 at 4:36 PM

Whoooooaaaaa…Bev is going to read In the Fields and Michelle is going to read Lily of the Springs?!?

WOO-HOOOOOOOO!!!!

*skips around while tossing candy confetti*
