<— You GUYS!!! Guess what??!! THE CONTINUATION to the story… OH.EM. GEE!!!!!! Book #2 is (Love in the Light (Hearts in Darkness Duet Book 2) is releasing TOMORROWWWWW and I am TOTALLY reading it, and! biggrinbiggrin Plus!! I have an excerpt for us to indulge in, right now. AND a giveaway! Did you guys know that this one is almost twice as long as book #1? YAY US!!! AND… it’s told in dual POV.

Why am I so excited? *gasp* eek ’Cause I totally fell head-over-heels in love with book #1 (Hearts in Darkness (Hearts in Darkness Duet Book 1) right?!! It’s a TOTALLY unique and fun and exciting and OMG super-steamy story about two strangers that get stuck in an elevator together. They are both in pitch black darkness, and didn’t actually “see” each other when they boarded the elevator, so they don’t know what the other looks like. And here’s the kicker. One of ‘em is claustrophobic so the other talks and eases them… AND!! They bond in the dark, becoming friends, and sharing secrets… but what happens when the lights come on? OMG what a BOOK!!!!!!!

Here’s my review and I remember every single thing about it and I read it YEARS ago, and I always wondered… whatever happened to that awesome duo of characters? Don’t even pay attention to the 4 star rating I gave it, ’cause if years later, I still think about the book, and remember the details and lost my heart HARD over the sweet potential love story, you know it’s really a 5-star. I probably only 4 starred it due to it’s shorter length, but trust me. Even thought it’s a short book, this one packs a punch, and has all of the needed detail to make us forget it’s not a full length novel.

MichelleF: I have to agree with Maryse, read Hearts In Darkness. It’s the first Laura Kaye book I read and it’s still one of my favorites!

JulieO: Maryse, you are right Hearts in Darkness is definitely a keeper for a short story. Would really like a sequel to it to see how things are going.

Anne: I read Hearts in Darkness and loved it!! I want more Caden! Can’t wait for the sequel to come out :DDont know what to read next.

Tilly: LOVED Hearts in Darkness and am SOOO happy that there will be a sequel…

Jenny: I read Hearts in Darkness YEARS ago (like, 2012???) and can’t believe it took so long for a follow up! I have to re-read to get back into the story line.

Ready for that excerpt?

“So Caden said you two met in an elevator,” the tattoo artist said to Makenna, amusement plain in his voice.

“We really did. We were trapped in it for over four hours,” Makenna said, smiling. It was a little weird to talk to someone she couldn’t look at, but she couldn’t move while he was working. “In my office building. I rode it just today.”

“That’s quite a way to meet someone,” Heath said with a chuckle. “How come nothing like that ever happens to me?”

“Maybe you don’t ride enough elevators,” Makenna said.

The tattoo machine pulled away from her skin. Heath laughed. “I guess I don’t,” he finally said, leaning back in.

The needles hit a sensitive spot along her spine that had Makenna grimacing. Originally, she’d been thinking of putting the piece on her shoulder, but when she’d decided on the bigger size, she thought it would look better in the center. Heath had warned her that the central placement meant inking over bone, which could hurt more, and it sure did.

Caden braced his elbows on his knees so he could lean closer. “Want to play twenty questions?” he asked.

She smiled, knowing he was trying to distract her and appreciating the heck out of the gesture. “Are there still questions left we haven’t asked each other?”

“Probably,” he said. “For example, I don’t think I’ve ever asked you your favorite sex position.”

“No laughing,” Heath said, as Makenna tried to hold back her humor. Heat filled her cheeks. “Also, TMI. However, I like TMI, so feel free to answer, Makenna.”

Since the needle was away from her skin, she did laugh that time. “Okay, so maybe there are questions we haven’t asked.” She winked at Caden as Heath got back to work. “And, to answer the question, the second part of the night on my floor.”

Caden’s gaze went molten. He flicked at the spider bite piercings with his tongue. And that had parts of her going molten, because she knew how freaking talented that tongue was.

“Yours?” she asked, arching an eyebrow.

Carla Navedo January 11, 2016 at 12:58 PM

The first book was absolutely amazing and the second I have no doubt will be equally excellent! Would love to have paperbacks of my favorite books! I was once stranded on an elevator once…nothing like the story though…I was heavily pregnant and with a dude that was more concerned that the stress will get me to labor than anything else…Lol!

Cassie January 11, 2016 at 12:58 PM

I can say I have never been in a situation this bad with a stranger, but my hubby and I were stuck in an elevator between floors in a parking ramp at the airport. We lost contact with the people on the emergency phone after we couldn’t tell them which elevator we were in (it was our first time at that airport). After about an hour the firemen pried open the doors and helped us climb out…..my hubby tries to avoid elevators now at all costs!!!

Lisa Martin January 11, 2016 at 12:59 PM

Hearts in Darkness was the first short story I ever bought and read from amazon. I read every single word of this little gem!!! Absolutely blew me away!!! Couldn’t believe all the feels from a short read. So excited to be getting more of this delicious couple. Situation with a stranger? Well the only one I’ve really had was meeting an Australian hunk on a blind date. We’ve been married for 37 years!!!

Michelle F January 12, 2016 at 12:38 AM

Hearts In Darkness was my first Laura Kaye book and I’ve loved her writing ever since! Really looking forward to reading this sequel. Just finished the Hard Ink series not long ago and loved those too. My random “stuck with a stranger” moment was many years ago. I’m a recovering addict/alcoholic and know how hard it can be for some of us to get through the holidays clean and sober. So I usually volunteer at treatment centers or recovery meetings during the holidays so folks new in recovery have someone safe to hang out with if they need. One year new years eve, I spent from 11pm until dawn with a newly sober young man as he tried to make it through his first holiday season without drinking and drugging. We sat together for hours drinking coffee, playing cards, and sharing our stories of addiction and recovery. I had never met him before that night and have never seen him since. I’ve often wondered what ever happened to that kid and if he had any idea how much he helped me that night too.

AmandaS January 12, 2016 at 3:09 AM

I loved Hearts in Darkness so much!! And of course I wanted to read more about these characters, so I’m so excited for Love in the Light! I love the intense connection they built in such a short amount of time.

Mai T. January 12, 2016 at 5:27 AM

An exciting situation with a stranger I had was Halloween 2 years ago. I was at a costume party with friends (and friends’ friends so basically some were strangers). The party required everyone to wear a mask or draw your face so that the face is not easily recognizable. And it got wild when I had super hot sex in the bathroom against the wall with a stranger in an anime mask. It was unforgettable. Still stranger to him though.

Artemis January 12, 2016 at 5:50 AM

I don’t have any sticky situation with a stranger to share.
Thank you for the great giveaway!!!!

T. Brown January 12, 2016 at 5:59 AM

My sticky situation….I was falling back home to florida from visiting my dad in alaska. I was like 15 years old. Anyway I sat next to the guy. He was 19. Since I’m a nice person we chatted throughout the flight. It was a long flight and at night so I ended up falling asleep. I woke up at one point and he was holding me hand! I guess me being friendly was taken as an open invitation bc I was not attracted to him at all. I ended up getting up from my seat and asking for a drink and going back and turning slightly away from him. When we landed he gave me his phone number and address. I left it on the plane. Imagine what my poor 15 year old brain was going through. I mean I hadn’t even had boyfriend yet.

Dena January 12, 2016 at 7:01 AM

This is really exciting!! The only sticky situations I get in is with my mouth. I say what I mean and don’t have a filter sometimes it’s just easier to keep my mouth shut lol. I’m so happy to get a chance to win this book…
