in Latest Book Releases

Happy TUESDAY NEW RELEASE DAY!!!!! 65+ books on today’s list, and there are a few that made my own TBR list, too! Including a few from the bargain finds. :) YAY ME!!! YAY US!!!

Which ones gave me a blurb jolt? EASILY Frayed Silk (super-angsty recommendation from R., about serious marital discord – eeeeeep!!! That blurb HURTS!), Second Shot (hockey star’s one night stand, with the coach’s daughter that he can’t stand ends up in a pregnancy. Whoops! ;)Toxic (prison nurse falls in love with a prisoner and helps him escape. YIKES!!! But that blurb… OMG. Defininite blurb jolt for me!), Mercy (Debra Anastasia’s latest & he’s the monster that has to protect her from his even more monstrous father), His Mafioso Princess (he’s in love with a mafia princess… and she’s the daugher of the most feared Cosa Nostra godfather).

AND!!! Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s earlybirds. It was a GREAT list of surprises!! ➔ 25 Earlybird Book Releases

AND AND!!! If you missed my latest book release, this one was SO good, and I’m starting book #2 tonight. ➔ Book Review – Something in the Way by Jessica Hawkins

P.S. How was your version of the eclipse yesterday? *sigh* Mine looked like it would be a plentiful “coverage” but it didn’t even get dark. Full sunny the entire time. I wanted night time darkness during the day!!! I wanted to be outside, in the mid-afternoon and feel like it was night. Alas, it was not to be. Even the lizards continued basking, at “maximum-eclipse”. ;)

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

AUDIOBOOK L:DVERS

For those going on a road trip soon, or maybe you’ve got some projects that require both hands this weekend but still allows you to “listen”… check out the free audible trial + 2 free audiobooks deal —>

  • AND! Here’s the fun-tool again! —> Find out which of YOUR Kindle books are available as audiobooks at a BARGAIN-PRICE! <— This thing is so cool (Amazon calls it “Matchmaker“)! It’s an Amazon feature, that scans all of your Kindle books and will list all of the ones you have that are also available as an audiobook at a discounted price (not normal audiobook prices). This way, you can switch back and forth, seamlessly between your ebooks and your audiobooks. VERY COOL!

BARGAINS & READER RECOMMENDATIONS (NOTE: bargain priced when I added them, but prices can change on Amazon, so make sure to check before you finalize your order. Sales listed are for Amazon U.S., however some of the Amazon UK links also reflect the sale!)

Jan: I just finished The Butterfly Project and had a little cry at the sweet ending.

Leslie: Another recent book I enjoyed is The Butterfly Project. The theme of book (two broken people come together to heal each other) isn’t anything new, but the way story was told, their backgrounds, etc. was interesting and captivated me.

  • Kian by Tijan <— TIJAN SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!!

Tessa: Kian was really good. I was expecting it to be darker, but honestly, Kian is so sweet, you can’t help but like him.

Marcie: Read Kian in less than 24 hours an loved it, I am a HUGE Tijan fan and have read everything and anything she has provided.

Jan: Wrecking Ball was GOOD! Had that Wall of Winnipeg feel, but it was still its own book. Bit of a slow burn but really enjoyable. Get it while it’s a bargain! And I see that a second book in the series will be out in a few weeks – Sledgehammer. The author warns that the h has a potty mouth, though. :-/ That’s not usually my fav – either in h or H. Oh well, I’ll keep an open mind cos Wrecking Ball was so good. We’ll see! *rubs hands together in anticipation*
  • Frayed Silk by Ella Fields <— SUPER-ANGST & MARITAL STRIFE ALERT!!! R is loving it as we speak!!!
R: Maryse. Frayed Silk by Ella Fields. It’s gutting me marmy style. It’s not TJR’s writing style, but it has the same feel her books have–the way your stomach rises in your throat and just sits there. Ugh the angst. It’s awesome. I’m at 55% but so far, I think it’s right up your alley.
  • Amazon Echo – Black <— AND LAST BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST!!! eek eek eek HEAR YE!! HEAR YE!!!! MY BELOVED ECHO (“Alexa”) is on sale today!!!!! !!

Cristie: Dang that’s a good price!! I know I love my ECHO too!!

Kim: What do you love about it?

Maryse: She wakes me up, she plays music for me (awesome music, too!!) she answers my questions, helps me with recipes, and BEST YET?? She plays audiobooks for me AND AND AND!!!! She’ll read many of my books to me (that I don’t have in audiobook format). When I’m done listening, and want to get back to reading that very book, my Kindle app will pick right back up where she left off for me to read… :D

Kim: very cool. Thanks for letting me know what the fuss is all about. I have the kindle keyboard that will speak the book, but it’s terrible compared to audiobooks.

Melanie: I’ve got the ECHO dot and love the thing (even if my 6 year old son drives me up the wall asking Alexa questions all day)

Morning!! :)

I cannot stop adding book to my TBR! HELP!!! It’s a legit addiction.

Grey August 22, 2017 at 7:18 AM

30 days by K. Larsen is free right now too.

*tossing suns and moons confetti*

I’m reading Blue Balls by RC Boldt, I won it on one of those little Amazon giveaway bouncy boxes on Facebook. Then, I am definitely hitting the bully list.

Maryse August 22, 2017 at 8:31 AM

Good find Grey!! I love that author and I haven’t read that one yet!!! :D One-clicked!

Maryse August 22, 2017 at 8:32 AM

P.S. Good morning everyone!!

I hope none of you looked at that eclipse without your protection glasses…

Tessa August 22, 2017 at 9:59 AM

Good morning! An awesome Tuesday it is too!

I tried with sunglasses because everywhere was sold out of glasses, but that didn’t work. lol Little dude’s school had glasses though, so he got to see it. He asked if there would be one last night too. I guess he really thought it was cool.

Alright, saw that Mafioso book by Terri Anne Browning, and bought the first one right away. I didn’t know she decided to start writing mafia books. :D I get my Abbi Glines books from the library so that’ll have to wait until they get it in. *shrugs* 11 dollars for a book I’ll only read once seems steep.

Now, that dark fae book… I looked it up and each book is by a different author, so I went and got the first of the series because, fae!

Tessa August 22, 2017 at 11:03 AM

Muscle Memory by Stylo Fantome just went up for pre-order. Aug. 28th is the release date.

Amy August 22, 2017 at 11:25 AM

Good morning my lovelies!!

Eclipse was disappointing here but mostly because I wanted REAL darkness and not just an overcast feel…plus I was driving and couldn’t stop on the freeway to look so there’s that. ;)

Leslie…it IS a legit addiction but you’re not alone in your struggle, LOL! You’re in good company here.

bev August 22, 2017 at 2:39 PM

Watching Everything Everything. The leads are perfectly cast. So cute and great chemistry. Pretty cinematography too. Love the visuals.

Amy August 22, 2017 at 4:04 PM

Hey ladies, Dr. OB by Max Monroe is on sale for .99 and The Fifth Letter by Nicola Moriarty (which I clicked a while ago ’cause it looks GOOD) is 1.99, down from 12.99! :D

Tessa August 22, 2017 at 4:14 PM

Thank you Amy! *one clicks Dr. OB*

Anyone else here ever listen to Coheed and Cambria? I’m listening to Wake Up. If you haven’t, look up the words. I’m always so sad by the time the song is done.

Leslie M August 22, 2017 at 4:29 PM

Bev, the girl in Everything, Everything played Rue in Hunger Games. I love her.

bev August 22, 2017 at 5:10 PM

I havent Tessa I will have to look it up.
Been listening to:
https://youtu.be/g_G68MBda_s

Leslie, yes. She is so good in both. And the actor will be Simon in the adaptation.

bev August 22, 2017 at 6:49 PM

I see it is time for pick for me ….bit I am so far in all of them. I am reading now but because of the slump just what takes my interest on the moment not planned books.

Tessa August 22, 2017 at 7:29 PM

I’m hoping to be able to read mine after Drunk Dial. I figure a CR books should cleanse my pallet enough for a zombie book.

R. Renee August 22, 2017 at 7:31 PM

I’m at 70% in The Wild and I need somebody to was my eyeballs for me.

R. Renee August 22, 2017 at 7:32 PM

*wash

See? They’re all jacked up.

bev August 22, 2017 at 7:38 PM

Wait.

So Dumplin’ was not for you but you are 70% into The Wild???

Mmmhmm.

R. Renee August 22, 2017 at 7:40 PM

It’s not easy. But my curiosity is pulling me through. I’m reading strictly for the train-wreck.

MichelleS August 22, 2017 at 7:56 PM

Eclipse was luke warm for me in Texas. We didn’t get the full effect, and moon was coming in from on top, so that was weird. Borrowed a coworkers glasses.

Anyone else notice a bunch of cool TITLES in this list? Maybe I’m just missing reading & every title sounds good to me!

Jan August 22, 2017 at 8:23 PM

Welp I felt really good cos I reduced my tbr by *1* by finishing my August pick-for-me GR challenge book. But, um, that’s only 1…… Yep Leslie, like so many of us, I’ve got the same addiction……. but I love it!! I know we’ve talked about this before, but for me the WORST THING about the apocalypse wouldn’t be flesh-eating zombies. It would be if I couldn’t recharge my kindle!!!!! Let’s invent some solar recharger or something, just in case……

Great list as usual Maryse. Thank you for enabling our addiction, in the BEST way ;)

bev August 22, 2017 at 9:00 PM

Just remember it’s better for you than heroine, Leslie.

Amy August 22, 2017 at 9:58 PM

Wait, the September pick-for-me is going on right now??

bev August 22, 2017 at 10:24 PM

Just to say if you want in or not. Fabi started a new post for it.

Amy August 22, 2017 at 11:15 PM

Ahhhh, okay…I didn’t want to miss out again next month. Thank you!

bev August 23, 2017 at 12:18 AM

R, when you publish your book you need to send Pim a cookie (and a Hobit two) cause I feel like Maryse teases her with her book cookies.

R. Renee August 23, 2017 at 12:23 AM

Awww Maryse wouldn’t do that!

Maryse August 23, 2017 at 8:08 AM

Oooooh!!! I’m titillated!! :D What wouldn’t I do?!!

*scrolls back through comments*

Maryse August 23, 2017 at 8:08 AM

LOL!!! Yes. I do like to tease with cookies. :)

Maryse August 23, 2017 at 8:09 AM

My pleasure Jan & Grey!

And yes… we absolutely need solar rechargers, and we’ll NEVER be bored during an apocalypse.

Maryse August 23, 2017 at 8:10 AM

LOL R.

Brave girl. ;)

Maryse August 23, 2017 at 8:11 AM

*runs to one-click The Fifth Letter*

Maryse August 23, 2017 at 8:13 AM

Thank you Tessa! I will add it to the list. :D

Jean August 23, 2017 at 8:48 AM

Hi Ladies!! Been vacationing and feel like I’m out of the loop. Didn’t get much reading done, but did finish the Beloved/Salvation series by Corrine Michaels and loved it!

I started Drunk Dial yesterday, and while I liked the beginning, I’m now at 50% and just not feeling it as much as I’d like. It’s cute, kinda YA if you ask me, even though they are in their mid-20s. Tessa, how are you liking it?

Frayed Silk is totally calling my name! I need something to punch me in the gut! LOL!

R, I was the same way with The Wild, I needed to see how it all turned out.

Eclipse was total disappointment here too…..basically overcast. I thought I would see darkness and stars in the sky.

Leslie M August 23, 2017 at 8:56 AM

Never a dull moment around here…you all seem to make me giggle. Which I could use a little laughter after the sobbing I just endured from finishing Forget/Blur duet. Wow! That one got to me. It sort of reminded me of Thoughtless. *side eyes the Thoughtless haters and telepathically begs you to bite your tongues* Hmmm…wondering why all you haven’t been raving loudly about this one?? Maryse??? This def seems like your cuppa.

Jean August 23, 2017 at 8:57 AM

Wow, my 1-clicker just went a little crazy when I went back and read this list….I think I was going through withdrawal!

Fabi, Strike by Cora Brent! It was you who recommended the Gentry Boys series to me (which I loved)! I’m excited!

Jean August 23, 2017 at 9:03 AM

Leslie, I loved Forget/Blur duet! If Maryse hasn’t read them, I think she would love them too!

Leslie M August 23, 2017 at 9:07 AM

Jean, let’s NOT even go there with you and angsty rock star stories. ;)

Jean August 23, 2017 at 9:12 AM

Leslie! You still have not forgiven me?!?!? That duet series was GREAT!

Jean August 23, 2017 at 9:15 AM

If anyone is wondering what Leslie and I are talking about…..it’s the Torn Duet by Mia Kayla….Torn Between Two and Choosing Forever….GREATNESS!!

Cheryl August 23, 2017 at 9:17 AM

Wait R. what happened to Frayed Silk? Did it continue to be awesome?

I started Drunk Dial. So far it’s a slow start, that is not holding my attention.

R. Renee August 23, 2017 at 9:27 AM

I finished The Wild at midnight. I HAD to know. *thud*

Jean August 23, 2017 at 9:28 AM

R, so what’d you think? I thought the writing was great!

R. Renee August 23, 2017 at 9:30 AM

Cheryl, I loved Frayed Silk but ended up giving it 4 stars. There were a few parts that I just had to “go” with, but that wasn’t hard to do because the angst was fantastic.

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 9:33 AM

Jean, it was cute but nothing that made me say wow. I’ve read better from her.

Blur/Forget… *grabs chest* GAH! So many emotions! You see why I was pushing you to read the second book? The first was good, but it’s a set up for the second that just tears through your emotions. *starts singing the song he sang to her* *sniffles* Big coincidence, as I was reading that part, the song came on irl. Insane, right?

Speaking of tear jerker… Thicker Than Blood. What… The… Heck! I had to stop reading it to read a light book. (A mafia book, but it’s Terri Anne Browning. It’s still light.) I swear, one more death, and I’m hijacking Manny and keeping him!

R. Renee August 23, 2017 at 9:38 AM

Jean about The Wild? I didn’t rate it because I read it purely for my own curiosity and didn’t expect it to be my thing going it. I’d say kudos for shocking the heck out of me. I could hardly put it down because I **needed** to see what happened at every turn, and thus, didn’t even skim. But I also felt that way about the “C” book and Push/Pull, and I didn’t rate those either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Jean August 23, 2017 at 9:38 AM

Yes, Thicker Than Blood….. total tearjerker and guess who recommended it to me? You guessed it….Amy!!!!!!

I loved Terri Anne Browning’ s Rocker series Tessa! I just bought the first mafia book. Keep me updated on how you like it!

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 9:43 AM

… Someone else is going to die. Awesome.

Defying her Mafioso is good Jean! It’s light for a mafia book, but sweet. I’m not getting as much angst as I usually get from her, but that’s okay. I think, reading this one, the one mentioned above will be far more angsty. I’m good with lack of angst, because, you know… Death book up there.

Jean August 23, 2017 at 10:08 AM

R, I 4-starred The Wild because I really thought the writing made it unputdownable. I was really pissed at the end of Push/Pull I will say that! And I still haven’t read the “C” books yet….but I want to and I have the whole series downloaded already!

Tessa, thanks for the feedback….I’ll definitely be moving that one up on my list!

Grey August 23, 2017 at 10:17 AM

*giggle* You guys kill me! Clips from this thread. #OneLineWeds from my fave crew…

Leslie…”It’s a legit addiction.”

Grey… “*tossing suns and moons confetti*”

R… “I’m… in The Wild and I need somebody to wash my eyeballs for me.”

MichelleS… “and moon was coming in from on top, so that was weird”

Jan… “but for me the WORST THING about the apocalypse wouldn’t be flesh-eating zombies. It would be if I couldn’t recharge my kindle!!”

bev… “Just remember it’s better for you than heroin, Leslie.”

Amy… “Ahhhh, okay…I didn’t want to miss out again next month.”

Maryse… “Yes. I do like to tease with cookies.”

Jean… ” I need something to punch me in the gut!”

Cheryl…”I started Drunk Dial.”

Tessa… “Someone else is going to die. Awesome.”

Bwahahahha… oh dear… out of context, we’re all going to jail…a padded room…or hell, girls!

Jean August 23, 2017 at 10:29 AM

LAUGHING MY A$$ OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amy August 23, 2017 at 10:49 AM

Thicker Than Blood…GAH!!! I’m still too pissed at a certain character to read the next book.

OMG Grey…BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Jean August 23, 2017 at 10:53 AM

Amy, I haven’t read the next book yet either….and it’s all YOUR FAULT!!

Cheryl August 23, 2017 at 10:54 AM

That was GREAT Grey!!! Bwahahahaha!!!!!!

R. Renee August 23, 2017 at 10:57 AM

bahahahah Grey!! :D

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 11:13 AM

Hehehehe We’re a little risque. No judging! :P

Spirit Witch by Helen Harper came out today! Yeah! I think from all this talk I’ll need a second happy book to complete TtB.

Amy August 23, 2017 at 11:29 AM

“….and it’s all YOUR FAULT!!”

Isn’t it always? *giggle*

Amy August 23, 2017 at 11:52 AM

Blur/Forget I already have *moves it up on TBR list* but Push/Pull is by which author?

R. Renee August 23, 2017 at 11:56 AM

Push/Pull is Claire Wallis

Jean August 23, 2017 at 11:59 AM

Amy, you have to read Blur/Forget!!! You will love it!

As far as Push/Pull……that 2nd book….grrrrrrrrrrrr

Cheryl August 23, 2017 at 12:35 PM

I LOVED Blur/Forget but dnf’d Push/Pull.

Amy August 23, 2017 at 12:41 PM

Jean…I moved them up on my list! Well, downloaded them from the cloud or whatever to my iPad so I don’t forget about ‘em. ;) Hey, maybe I’ll add Blur to my pick-for-me list!

I have Push by CW but now I’m not sure about it after all y’all’s comments. :?

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 12:42 PM

*sings* Say Something I’m giving up on you…

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 12:43 PM

Oh. Really? A city named Purgatory? HOW MANY ZOMBIE STORIES HAVE THAT AS A CITY NAME?

So in the true fashion of this book, I think someone else will die here.

Leslie M August 23, 2017 at 2:08 PM

Wait!! Who didnt like Dumplin’???? Blasphemy!!!

Jean, I am still a teensy bit mad at you. *giggles while trying to make mean face*

Bummer about Drunk Dial…I was looking forward to that one. :(

R., I applaud you for supporting the author of The Wild. I was curious enough to seek spoilers and that is one effed up story. I feel really bad about backlash author received. Jeesh….its just fiction. Also, I may try Frayed Silk at some point.

Tessa, Forget/Blur made me cry A LOT! I dont mean just little tears, I mean gaspy sobs. Gah!! That was emotional.

Grey, we are all pretty funny huh? *big group hug*

Amy, I think you will love Forget/Blur. When you are in mood for emotional romance sorta like Thoughtless. I also think you will like Push/Pull. That is more pysch thriller-ish and normally NOT my thing, but I liked it. I would even say it Marmyish.

Tessa, stop singing that song!! #nosleeptilbrookedylan

Grey August 23, 2017 at 2:11 PM

I loved Forget/Blur, Amy… as a pretty sparkling card carrying member of the Marmies, I can’t believe you haven’t read this series…

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 2:30 PM

*continues singing* I’ll be the one, if you want me to…

Grey, right? A big, emotional heartwrencher and she’s all, nah. I’m good. I don’t need my emotions played with.

Amy August 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM

*belts out off key*

AND ANYWHERE I WOULD HAVE FOLLOWED YOU…

Amy August 23, 2017 at 3:02 PM

Hey! Tessa, I’ll have you know that I moved it up and will DEFINITELY be adding it to my pick-for-me list!! I love having my emotions played with. ;)

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 3:11 PM

Yeah! Everyone, pick that for her. Just remember Amy, the real pain happens in the second book.

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 3:12 PM

Oh, and TtB, I want to punch Alex. Just saying..

Amy August 23, 2017 at 4:31 PM

Hang on…what did Alex do? It’s been a while so I don’t remember anything other than liking him…

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 4:41 PM

He just was saying stupid stuff, got me all mad, then he said swoony stuff. Though, I’m still on the fence about him because of his past.

Cheryl August 23, 2017 at 6:57 PM

Tessa, what’s TtB? Too lazy to scroll up thru comments. :)

Tessa August 23, 2017 at 7:40 PM

Thicker than Blood. I finished it. Quick summary. Emotional (I cried) but honestly, not enough action to be a zombie book.

bev August 23, 2017 at 8:38 PM

That was awesome Grey!!

Jan August 23, 2017 at 8:56 PM

Haha. Love you guys. *big group hug* *passes bandaid to Jean for her poor one-clickety finger* There there dear.

Cheryl August 24, 2017 at 12:14 AM

Sexcation by Heidi McLaughlin is live. It sounds good. “They meet on vacation. And agree to fake name each other. One is lying about everything.
The other is telling the truth.”

Lisa Aiello August 24, 2017 at 7:06 AM

Attention Marmy lovers, whose angst just can’t get angsty enough, I’m reading an ARC of The Man I Thought You Were by Leah Mercer, and son of a biscuit eater, I have had a lump in my throat since the first page. Just a brief summary – they have a really good marriage and her husband just comes home one day and tells her has to leave, and he does just that – no clothes, no phone, he just leaves and tells her not to look for him. No explanation. But you get his point of view and soon find out why…and the angst just dogpiles on, one thing right after another. Yeah, it’s a little over the top, NO ONE would do those kinda things, right? RIGHT????? It still hurts…and I love it!!!

Maryse August 24, 2017 at 7:34 AM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREY!!!!!!!!!

*starts another round of birthday cake martinis*

This August has been fun!! ;)

Jean August 24, 2017 at 7:54 AM

Happy birthday Grey! *toasts*

Lisa, I have that book! Now, I have to read it!

Cheryl August 24, 2017 at 8:20 AM

Happy Birthday Grey!!!! *throws candy confetti*

Lisa, that sounds good and it’s KU.

Jean August 24, 2017 at 8:47 AM

By the way guys, I finished Drunk Dial and was so disappointed….it totally fell flat for me.

Grey August 24, 2017 at 8:47 AM

Hey everyone, Marissa Honeycutt (author of Life of Anna series) released the beginning of a new series today… Master of My Body. The cover is GORGEOUS!! I know that the dark side isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely one of my favorite genres. Anyone read an ARC / hear anything about this one yet?

And thanks Maryse, Jean and Cheryl for the birthday wishes!

Tessa August 24, 2017 at 9:03 AM

Happy Birthday Grey! *grabs some confetti and starts eating them* *gives Grey a big hug* May there be many bullies to enjoy today. :D

bev August 24, 2017 at 9:08 AM

Happy Birthday!!

I hope you get spoiled.

Jean August 24, 2017 at 9:09 AM

Grey, that cover is gorgeous! It was nice of her to release a book today for your birthday! Let me know if you are going to read it. It’s short and I’m in between books right now.

Hi bev! *waves*

Jean August 24, 2017 at 9:21 AM

OMG Grey, I just searched for that Marissa Honeycutt book and came up with this trailer…..whoa….

https://vimeo.com/225357626

Cheryl August 24, 2017 at 9:30 AM

Jean, I just finished Drunk Dial too and it was disappointing. I had to push to finish it. Good premise, but you’re exactly right- it just fell flat.

Jean August 24, 2017 at 9:41 AM

Cheryl, I almost didn’t finish a couple times…..

Grey August 24, 2017 at 10:09 AM

Yeah, I’m gonna get it, that trailer was cool!! I’m thinking I’ll probably wind up with an Amazon card for my birthday (shocker) *giggle* So I’ll probably pick it up tonight while my tribe is at all of their various practices LOL!

Thanks Tessa and bev! I love all the love today… birthdays just don’t have the same punch when you’re older! So knowing you guys took a second to wish me well… well, it makes me feel all mushy! *big group hug*

Jean August 24, 2017 at 10:11 AM

I liked the trailer too! Ok, I’m starting it now even though I should be working. Lol

Fabi August 24, 2017 at 10:56 AM

Jean, Strike by Cora Brent! is a spinoff from the Gentry boys? The blurb doesn’t sound anything like the Gentry boys. I may have to go hunt up some reviews.

Grey, Happy Birthday! Sorry I’m late – but, hey, you get to celebrate again. ;-)

Jean August 24, 2017 at 11:17 AM

I know Fabi…..I’m not sure what the connection is, but who cares right?

Grey August 24, 2017 at 11:18 AM

Fabi, you’re not late… today is my birthday ;-)

Cheryl August 24, 2017 at 11:21 AM

After the recent lighthearted reads, I’ve decided I need to read something that kicks my a$$. Just started Frayed Silk.

R. Renee August 24, 2017 at 11:28 AM

Happy birthday Grey! Jake’s in the oven!

R. Renee August 24, 2017 at 11:28 AM

Oh heck. CAKE. Jake’s in the freezer.

Amy August 24, 2017 at 11:35 AM

GREY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! This HAS been a fun month of birthday cake martinis in the morning! :D Hope you have a beautiful day.

Lisa, I have the first in that series (it was a Kindle First freebie!) but it looks like the books don’t have the same couple so they don’t have to be read in order…yay me!! I can jump right into the angst of the one you’re reading!!

Dang, I’m disappointed to hear all of this about Drunk Dial. :?

Amy August 24, 2017 at 11:36 AM

FLT

“Tuesdays were tortilla soup days at Blackbird’s Café.” ~ Wish You Were Here by Renee Carlino.

Have I said how much I love the cover? Gorgeous.

R. Renee August 24, 2017 at 11:43 AM

Oh it’s Thursday. My FLT is the same as Amy’s but I’m almost done. Thinking of reading Ghosted next.

Tessa August 24, 2017 at 11:52 AM

I tried again to read Beautiful Beast, but NOPE. I wasn’t really into it to start with, then I got into the past, and I kid you not, it’s so much like the beginning of Vicious that I just rolled my eyes.

So, no FLT so far.

Lisa Aiello August 24, 2017 at 12:24 PM

The last thing I remember before my husband left me was the quiet satisfaction of carmelising onions to perfection – The Man I Thought You Were (as noted above). 76% and I’m dying little deaths at every page turn…I’m so dramatic, LOL

Leslie M August 24, 2017 at 1:08 PM

Happy Birthday Grey! :)

I hope you get a big pile of Amazon cards, cake & cocktails!

Leslie M August 24, 2017 at 1:16 PM

FLT:

I kick my way through the piles of mail on the wooden floor, balancing a box in my hands as the door slams shut behind me.

The Forbidden by Jodi Ellen Malpas

Wow, that is probably the most boring first line ever. I am only 10% in and it seems good, but I have no idea what is so forbiddeny about it. Fingers crossed it’s something juicy.

Cheryl August 24, 2017 at 1:20 PM

Or maybe I’ll read The Man I Thought You Were. Both marriages gone bad angst!! Hmmm, what a dilemma to have. ;)

Jean August 24, 2017 at 1:40 PM

FLT: The ancient trees stood as silent witnesses of the horrific scene spread out in the middle of the grassy clearing. (Master of My Body, Marissa Honeycutt)

Jean August 24, 2017 at 1:52 PM

Cheryl, I think I’m going to start The Man I Thought You Were right after the Honeycutt book which is only 112 pages.

Jean August 24, 2017 at 1:54 PM

Thus was a part of Marissa Honeycutt’s warning at the beginning of her book: My bad guys are bad, meaning they’re not nice. Meaning they do things that might make you uncomfortable. Or puke. Or have nightmares.

Grey August 24, 2017 at 2:47 PM

So far it’s been a day of kid carting and Dr’s appts. Never a dull moment, RME. I don’t have a FLT… I’m kind of… hesitant on what I want for this auspicious occasion. I need a 5. LOL! I think everyone should read a 5 on their birthday, right?

Thank you R. I’m glad Jake is in the freezer… I’m an Olitz fan ;-)

Thanks Amy! *mwah* How close to the top of your TBR is Blur/Forget?

Thanks Leslie!! I hope so too, LOL! I doubt it, but it’d be nice! haha!

Jean, how is it?

Jean August 24, 2017 at 3:15 PM

I’m not that far into it Grey, but totally has a “Life of Anna” vibe right from the start…..I’m scared…..

You definitely need a 5-star read for your birthday….what’s it going to be?

Tessa August 24, 2017 at 5:09 PM

FLT:
I’m perched in Emily Miller’s pillow-covered window seat, striking my thumb against an almost empty lighter, a strawberry mint cigarette pinched between my lips.
Absinthe by Winter Renshaw

This seems to fit my mood perfectly now.

Grey, good luck finding a 5! Those are hard to find. Maybe Degradation? *blinks innocently*

Grey August 24, 2017 at 5:44 PM

With this being a novella length, I’ll have another FLT later…

The ancient trees stood as silent witnesses of the horrific scene spread out in the middle of the grassy clearing. ~ Master of My Body by Marissa Honeycutt

R. Renee August 24, 2017 at 6:09 PM

New FLT: “Drip. Drip. Drip. Rain fell from the overcast sky in sporadic bursts, quick manic showers followed by moments of nothingness.” Ghosted by J.M. Darhower

Tessa August 24, 2017 at 6:15 PM

Ooooh, you have to tell me how that one is, Robyn! I was at my max for KU books, but as soon as I’m done with Absinthe, I’m reading that.

bev August 24, 2017 at 7:05 PM

That’s why when you get older birthdays should be Treat yourself days.

Hey, Jean.
*waves*
Lol.

Melinda August 24, 2017 at 7:45 PM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREY,

I hope you get totally spoils with cake and Amazon vouchers and dinner cooked for you and a taxi driver for the kids. The ultimate birthday.

I’ve just finished Wrecking Ball and have really enjoyed it. Also Drunk dial I enjoyed but did fall flat. I also read Before we were strangers as I hadn’t
read it and I looved it.

Think I try that angsty book your all talking about.

Maryse August 24, 2017 at 9:44 PM

Lisa made my day with that recommendation!!!! :D

Cristina August 24, 2017 at 9:45 PM

Happy Birthday Grey!!

What is this Blur/Forget duet? I feel totally out of the loop on this one and it sounds like something I would love!

Maryse August 24, 2017 at 9:50 PM

Are we talking about “Say Something”?????

I can’t do that song. I can’t. I love it the most of all songs of the world, and yet I can’t do it.

Maryse August 24, 2017 at 9:52 PM

Yep. Y’all were singing Say Something.

And now I died. Of heartbreak.

Thanks. A lot. :?

Grey August 24, 2017 at 9:59 PM

So, I finished Master of My Body by Marissa Honeycutt. No spoilers, you guys know I don’t do that… but I loved it. Dark.. real dark…Life of Anna, dark. Trigger warnings, the whole nine. *squee*

Maryse August 24, 2017 at 9:59 PM

LOL I LOVE Grey’s recap of us. We’re pretty darn cool, if I do say so myself!!! :P

Jan August 24, 2017 at 10:03 PM

Just catching up on all the comments. Mwah. *birthday air kiss for Grey* Jake’s in the OVEN???? As long as it’s not a BUN in the oven LOL. *laughs* Or does that lame joke only work in Australia? Hmmm.

Absinthe FLT – a strawberry mint cigarette?? Whaaaa?? What the heck is that? I must lead a sheltered life, I think……..

My FLT:
Finding one person in a city of nearly two million was a formidable task.
from Mine Till Midnight, a HR by Lisa Kleypas. (I know, I know, I just can’t stop my HR addiction!) BTW the city is London in Victorian times.

I’ve also started a GR buddy read of Love In The Valley Of The Kings by Nicole Italia. So, my second FLT is:
Rupert carefully sketched the tombs that had been found thus far on the eastern side of the Valley Of The Kings.

Gotta love that name Rupert! It’s kinda a Howard Carter/ Tutankhamen’s tomb type story, but a romance. Not that great so far actually, but hey, it was FREE!

I’ve had Forget on my tbr for ages. Should do something about that…….

Tessa August 24, 2017 at 10:52 PM

Cristina, Forget and Blur are by NA Alcorn and yeah. It’s MARMY!

Tessa August 24, 2017 at 11:00 PM

Jan, I totally didn’t get it until the heroine explained it was one of those scented herbal cigarettes. And Bun in the Oven does make sense in the US too. :)

*sniffles* I don’t care! I still love the song! I’ll just have all these happy songs and it’ll come on. And I’ll just love every second as it’s on.

GREY! I sent you a question about Master of my Body just to avoid triggers.

Jan August 24, 2017 at 11:32 PM

A ‘scented herbal cigarette’? Hmmmmm. I’d rather strawberry mint tea LOL.

Jan August 24, 2017 at 11:33 PM

Oh, Forget is MARMY??? *quickly removes Forget from tbr* Whew. That was close. Thankyou Tessa. :D

Tessa August 25, 2017 at 1:04 AM

No problem. I don’t want to mess with anyone’s head. I absolutely loved it, but it was HIGHLY emotional in the second book.

Grey August 25, 2017 at 7:31 AM

Tessa I msged you back. Sorry I went to bes around midnight.

Thank for *all* the birthday wishes, you guys are amazing and I love all of you!! *big group hug*

Tessa August 25, 2017 at 9:15 AM

Thank you Grey! *snuggles into group hug* There was no rush. I just want a small heads up before I buy a dark book where Life of Anna is mentioned. :D

Jean August 25, 2017 at 10:33 AM

Grey, I finished Master of My Body too and I was afraid to admit I loved it too! But since you did…..lol! Crazy dark and tons of triggers!

Fabi August 25, 2017 at 11:11 AM

Jean, I think it’s about one of twins. Grown up! OMG!!! But…I haven’t seen raving reviews. :-(

Jean August 25, 2017 at 11:21 AM

Oh no Fabi! I still bought it!

Fabi August 25, 2017 at 3:11 PM

Awesome! I look forward to your review.

Amy August 25, 2017 at 4:06 PM

“And now I died. Of heartbreak.

Thanks. A lot. :?

Awwwwww, does someone need a snuggle? *giggle*
