*phew* It’s complete. Well… I think. I’ll probably add more as the day goes, but this is a BIG LIST!! Categorized, of course. 😉 And a few on here that make my giddy with excitement and need to read, ya know?
Like: Apartment 2B (right up my psychological-issues-but-love alley!), NOCTE & VERUM ’cause I love the sound of these psych-thrillers and so many of our fellow readers are crazy for ’em! Devil You Know (she’s abused and saved, but does he need to be?). Radio Silence sounds creepy (all electricity and phones get turned off, and well… scary issues!), The Nightingale (Life and love? stories of two sisters during WWII – sounds intense and deep!!) and Worth the Risk, ’cause book #1 was SO good, so I’m anxious to give this one a go! Oh! And! I’m curious about Pigsty Princess (fantasy/paranormal? but sounds like it could be fun),
AND! These are also the ones that have just made my TBR “short-list” as dubbed by my friend Kandace. 😉 So I’m using it. So I now have TBR lists, and “short TBR lists” which are urgent must-read now ones, I gather.
I’m currently reading The Traveling Man (Traveling Series #1) ’cause Andrea and Sherry love it. Andrea says: “The Traveling Man by Jane Harvey Berrick is the best book ever! But the cliffy just about killed me. Ughh!!!” I’m 20% in and it is GOOD!!!!! He’s in the circus, comes to her town once a year and they sort of… grow-up together like this?
The Five Stages of Falling in Love <— And this one that Kandace personally recommends to me BIG time, and yesssss this too, is for me! So will be next. She says: “The gang and I read Five Stages to Falling in Love this week and we all loved it hard. I think you would like it too. A few of us thought her writing reminded us a bit of Taylor’s writing in After I Do. Every word and thought felt so real.” <— Oh and you guys know just how much I LOVED “After I Do“.
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).
P.P.S. Get Maryse’s Book Blog updates delivered by email (you’ll get one daily email that will have each post from that day consolidated on it).

Each day is a struggle to feel human and not terrified of everything around her. Sidney has rules. Routines. Structure. It’s the only way she can cope. Tempted to click on the JC Daniels one, but I’m not sure I’m caught up or would get to it soon.
Is anyone else going to read Hero? I’m debating now or later and if any of you are going to read this one now then it would tip the scales in favor of a buddy/group read.
I just read 5 stages this week and enjoyed it! I got a TJR vibe as well.
Just finished To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before last night. I loved it and I hate reading about young love or characters in high school, BUT, the writing was so gooooood and the story really surprised me. It kept me guessing the whole time. Except for the end… (which made me yell WHAAAT???) Not really a cliffy but there is a book #2 in the works. Dying for it’s release in May!!!
Thanks for the finds, guys! I’m adding. 🙂
YAY Sadie – she’s so awesome so I could definitely go for more like that.
Thank you for that update Jeanie! It sounds so fun!
Oh my!!! Did you ladies see that Harper Lee is releasing another book? I’m not sure what to think. Very excited but I believe there has been question in how much say she has in how her estate is handled, so does she want it released? Apparently she wrote it before To Kill a Mockingbird. It is Scout grown up. I have to say I always thought Mockingbird is perfect on its own. The ending is just wonderful.
Fabi, as soon as I can, I’ll be reading Hero. I just need to read two others first. I got Until the World Ends last month as a KU, which is no longer a KU item. I’m trying to clean the KUs so I don’t miss any. 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
Ok Tessa. I have to read that one too so Amy will let go of my shirt. I also have to read On the Island and Archers Voice so MichelleS and I can do the happy dance. But the two that are jumping up and down in front of my face are Bound by Flames and Ace’s Wild, both from last week’s releases. I’ve been waiting on those for so long! But if there’s a buddy/group read it trumps everything else. 🙂
I already started Verum today and feel like I need to be committed…. It’s making me crazy!
The Traveling Man and Five Stages are next for me….. can’t wait to see what you think of them!
*hides* Did I mention Zombies by virus are scary before they know to be careful? Any killer disease freaks me out, so I think I found the “book that scares me”. The zombie themselves aren’t scary, just the idea of someone, anyone, could get infected because they were in the wrong spot at the wrong time.
Tessa EXACTLY!!!!! It’s the outbreak and the breakdown of the entire world as it spreads and the panic that blows my mind!!!!
Pigsty Princess, Radio Silence, Forgotten Sins, Apartment 2B, Traveling Man (CH though, gah!!), Hero, Five Stages, Verum, The Nightingale…how fun is today’s list!!! 😀
Not letting go of your shirt, Fabi, until you get through book 2. And it looks like I’m gonna have to grab Tessa’s shirt as well so she’ll read it. 😉 I have to get to book 3 All the Stars in the Sky. The title of that one is killing me right now and y’all will see why. 😕
Jean, you have to let me know if Verum ends on a CH like Nocte did. Oh man, committed and crazy over it already? Magic words!!
If there was a breakdown of the entire world, I’d be freaking out over all of the books on my iPad that I wouldn’t get to read because I couldn’t charge it because of the electricity being gone. *snort* Yeah, I know exactly how bad that comment sounds…
Amy, I’m at page 74 (20%)! That’s why I’m hiding. It’s a little at the eep worthy stage right now.
Oh, and one word… generator. 😛
That’s why we need solar chargers, Amy! We’d never have to worry. Even with solar chargers and all the time in the world… we couldn’t get through every unread book in our e-readers. LOL!!!! 😛
…another reason why I keep a few shelves of hard copies LOL
Have you guys heard? Remember the Lux series? Obsidian is being made into a movie. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/sierra-pictures-acquires-obsidian-big-590261
I pray they do better with Damien than they did with with Jace in The Mortal Instruments.
*grrrr* auto-correct “Daemon”
…and that was really old news 🙁 I just double checked the author’s website. How long does it take to make a movie anyways?
Omigod Amy I’m reading And After and I seriously have to stop. I don’t think I want to keep reading at all. I can’t even finish the chapter…maybe if I don’t finish, it didn’t happen. Whyyyyyyy what is the point!
Fabi – I’m 50% in on ASCAP and it is so wonderful. It makes me wish that I could experience living in Paris for a year or two. I am living this book.
Nocte may be next up but not sure yet. I will definitely be getting Rebel Blood and Roses). I devoured all of them with Zeth. Oh, I have to get back to Roam and West.
I don’t see the Hooker and the Hermit by Cosway and Reid on your list of new releases. I just finished it late, late, late last night (shamefully late) and it was very hot and sexy and ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS. The H has a seriously filthy mouth, but he was so delicious. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun reading a book! I think I smiled 90% of the time (but there were a few angsty parts too). Highly recommend if you want to swoon and laugh 🙂
Awww Tracy I’m so glad you like it.
^^^Amy! Did you see Michelle’s reaction? You’re wanting me to read THAT? *hinding from Amy in my little dark corner*
Withering Hope is $0.99 for a limited time on amazon 🙂
Maryse!! Oooooh… *shakes finger at Maryse* See, here I am all happy thinking about generators *nods at Tessa* and about you mentioning solar chargers, and then you have to go and mention not enough time to read all our ebooks and now my anxiety is through the freaking roof!!
*scrolls through Kindle app*
Oh, I guess you’re right. *snicker*
This is so hard…*sigh* I feel completely blindsided and deflated at only 1/3 into the book. I seriously cannot make myself pick it back up especially when Amy said it has another punch in store. I mean it’s a zombie apocalypse I get people will die but again whyyyyy *sob*
I know Michelle!! That’s how I felt! I wanted to kick the wall and throw myself on the floor in a tantrum just to make it not so. Need a snuggle? ‘Cause I’m always ready for a snuggle, and now *I* need one thinking about that part. *opens arms up* Please??
Faaaaabbbbbbiiiiii!! Don’t get scared! *pulls Fabi out of her corner* Do you watch Walking Dead? If so then you can handle this. Right Michelle? RIGHT?!?
Tracy, Nocte is a good one. 😉
Aw Michelle…what if I tell you that was the worst of it, at least for me. There’s still another gut punch (so brace yourself) but that was the hardest one for me. Hang in there, m’kay? ‘Cause I need someone to empathize with!
I do not watch WD. *curls tighter into dark corner* You almost roped me into that one. You know I’m not above hopping on a plane and coming over to STEAL that manatee
*sniffles* ok Amy (accepts hug). I vented a little and had some ice cream. I’m ready to go back in. I did read the novella too before this and liked the side story. Are you going to read the last book soon? I will probably get to it tomorrow. They read fast. Fabi, Amy seems like she wants me to recommend reading them but right now I’m at a low…maybe it will end up better…I hope because my heart really aches right now
*sticks out lower lip* Hey Michelle, at least the third book is out now…I finished And After like two or three weeks ago and have had to wait for book 3 to come out. And yes, I will be finishing Shadowfever tonight and then starting All the Stars in the Sky tomorrow.
*happy gasp* Yay Fabi! And then I will make you some great martinis and a bunch of food while you’re here!! But no stealing my Manny…he gets sad when he’s away from his mama too long. 😉
Okay Fabi, how about this…just read the first book and when you think you’re ready then you can pick up the second. Book 1 is lighter than book 2, even though book 2 has some light stuff in it to break up…everything else. Am I right, Michelle?
So many good books out and the pre-releases *sigh can’t wait for those*
Didn’t realize I missed book 2 in the Frenched series. Need to read that one before book 3 Floored comes out.
Wow that Play by Play series looks good *yummy covers* but 9 books!!!
Amy, Fabi and Michelle, what series are you reading? I’m sure if I wasn’t lazy I could scroll up thru the comments to figure this out. *snort*
I really enjoyed the Five Stages of Falling in Love; was so well-written. My only complaint was the ending felt a little rushed after all the “slow-burn.”
Was seriously thinking about the Play by Play series until I noticed the price. $7.99 – $12.39/book. 🙁
Cheryl, it’s the Until the End of the World series. Zombies!! Like Michelle said, it reads fast and the third book just came out. Yay us! 😀
*whispers at Cheryl from Dark hidey hole corner* not me Cheryl, nope, not me.
When our power went out during the big snowstorm last yr, I took my iPad out to my car to charge it….& cranked the heat while charging. We have since invested in a huge generator & propane space heaters….we are so ready for it now.
I just finished Verum today and without spoiling anything I can say that I am thoroughly more confused and aggravated than I was after reading the first book. Both books are clouded in mystery and cliffhangers. Problem that I find is what to trust. When you read a mystery there has to be something you can latch onto. As far as I’m concerned I’m really so frustrated after reading this book that I don’t really even care or want to read the next one unfortunately.
Yes book 1 is much lighter…well as light as running from zombies can be! If I can guess where they are taking the story now, and I probably can’t really, but in my imaginary vision there might be some hope beyond the sucker no ‘lollipop’ punch (Amy you’ll get it!). The characters make the book much like in WD. I’m surprised how I started out hating some and now love them. The character growth portrayed is very believable though.
Wrapped Around Him by Debra Kayn released today. I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and it was a Stay up all night and finish it kind of book!
Tessa, I forgot to ask…are you on book 1 or 2?
Just to let you know that Jodi Ellen Malpas – One night unveiled was released on January 29.
Thanks Amy, sounds scary!!
Too funny Fabi!!!
I finished Cartel. NOT a romance in any way. Very dark. Super gritty. And while it does not end with a cliffhanger, it does end in the middle of things. Nothing is resolved. It’s definitely “part one” of at least two books, I would think.
I can’t wait for your review of Traveling Man. It really caught my interest with the slow build up of childhood friends and the carnival coming once a year. I hope it’s good!!! Report back soon!
I am reading Amy’s recommendation, Dark Secrets. I will hold off with any opinions until the story unfolds some more. The writing isn’t too impressive so far… meaning the actual writing… not a seasoned author mixed with first person… can be awkward. “I’m wearing my baby blue dress…” that kind of thing. But I am interested in the “secrets”… so I will keep on keepin’ on.
I read Nocte, and was mad at myself after. Now I am reading this about Verum? You feel even worse after this one? What to do……. ???
I bought Nocte last week for .99 and I’m trying really hard to avoid spoilers. Every time I see that title I have to scroll away! I’ll probably read it next because avoiding spoilers only works for so long… (I just glanced at three-sentence Amazon review for Apartment 2B and read a major one for that book, sounded like the main twist! Ugh!) Traveling Man looks really good too.
Kay I know exactly what you mean. I never read the Amazon reviews before reading the book. You never know when one of those is going to have a spoiler.
Now I’m torn as well about reading Verum before the third book is out, especially after Danielle’s comment. 😕 Jean, are you still reading it or did you finish?
It reminds me a little bit of the Asylum series where I liked book 1 because it messed with my mind and then I felt like I’d been punched in the chest at the end, I liked book 2 even though it raised *more* questions, but I hated book 3 and wished I had stopped after book 2. I hated where things went. Hated. I don’t need a traditional HEA in books (y’all know how I love books that work me over and mess me up) but what happened was just horrible to me. And then there were still questions left but to get answers I would have to read the upcoming spinoff series. Uh, no. I’m not reading a spinoff series to get answers that should have been given in the original series. It wasn’t a “good” mindfu-…er, mind-mess. 😉
Yep MichelleS, that’s exactly what I was talking about as far as the author’s writing getting better as the series progresses. Like I said, I’m surprised now that I stuck with it, but I’m glad I did. It’s one of those where I really like (but don’t love) the story, but I *love* what it does to me. Does that make sense?
Oh, and that part that made me need to put it down and take a break ’cause it was so disturbing? It’s in book 3 (The Heart’s Ashes), not book 1…you’ll know it when/if you get to it. Still makes me shudder.
I responded on another comment thread by accident. But yes, Verum has a major cliffhanger! And I feel crazy from this book! Yes Amy, reminds me of the Asylum series. The 3rd book in the Nocte trilogy doesn’t come out until March!!!!!!!!!!!!
Danielle, I get what you are saying, but I have to know how it all turns out!
You guys are scaring me with your comments about UTEOTW.
I’m on book one. No longer scary at this point, but really good. As I said, the beginning of zombies being made is far scarier than actual zombies. I can see what you mean by light. A few thrills, but it mostly builds the relationships and the characters.
Asylum series? *wanders to Amazon*
Alright, author? Who knew there were that many asylum series? Though I did see the one by Jocelyn Drake and wish listed it. I read the first one and loved it.
If Amy is talking about the same one as me, it’s by Lauren Hammond. It was a crazy mindf@*k!!
Dangit! Okay, definitely waiting for the third book to come out before I start Verum.
Jean, am I gonna have to drag you out of the corner like I did Fabi?? You can handle the UTEOTW series. Trust me. 😉
And yes, it is the Asylum series by Lauren Hammond that I was talking about. Books 1 and 2 were great mindf@#ks, but book 3 just left me feeling depressed and mad and upset. Not in the good way like with Mud Vein but in the wish-I-had-not-read-it way.
Soo many books Thanks Maryse !! . Lets see Rebecca Zanetti series – SINS series is soo good. Fast paced and HOT. Look at those covers. The 3rd book on Jory is now available as well. Speaking of Covers – Jaci Burton – Play by Play series is soo good. Can’t wait to read it. Cara Mckenna – is flawless. I’m excited to read the 2nd book in her biker series. Duncan seemed quite interesting in Book 1 .Thanks again !
I felt the same way about the Asylum series Amy. My friend loved it, but I just didn’t…..
Depressed? Huh. Then no thank you. Finding the other Asylum series made me happy, though. I read the first from a Nook Friday Freebie and absolutely loved it. Very Dresden-ish. *grins* So I’ll be getting at least book two this month. At 8.99, though, it will be one only this month. 😛
Ok I’m definitely avoiding Nocte and Verum until the series is complete after those comments.
I finished And After. I’m sad but hoping the next book is not so crushing because this one was for me. I liked it even more than the first one though and am glad I can go right into the third book. I think I would curl up in the fetal position if I was Cassie and just say I’m done.
Jean, did you finish Past Heaven? I have that one high on my tbr to read.
I have Dark Secrets high on my tbr to try as well. I also randomly have book 4, it must have been free one day.
I love cowboy romance and I love that you gave them their own category!!!! Seriously, I’m just so happy lol!!!
Finished Until The End of the World. *sighs* I really loved it, but And After sounds emotionally scary. I think first is what I need to read… *glares at papers* Also, Lollipops sounds like more fun than And After.
Yes, I’m a chicken!
Yes Michelle, I finished Past Heaven and l loved it! It was a slow build and although I don’t usually go for the “actor” books, this was a good one! It kinda reminded me of Thoughtless at times… Not as much angst though….. the struggles with being in the public eye, paparazzi, Hollywood bitches. But what I really loved was the heroine’s kids and their part in the story!
Debt Inheritance by Pepper Winter is free right now. Anyone who hasn’t read it should. If you’re iffy on the CH, get it and read it once the sixth book is released. 🙂
Kristina have you tried the He’ll’s Eight Series? It’s a historical romance set in the wild west. Bad boy Texas rangers. I’m reading the newest one, Ace’s Wild, which just came out. *eyes nearby fire extinguisher”

Did anyone else have a bit of an issue getting through the last part of Shadowfever? I just want more interaction/conversations with the other characters and less time reading Mac’s thoughts. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mac and how unpredictable she is but all this time in her head is making it drag for me. I feel like I’ve been working on trying to finish SF for days! Or maybe I’m just in a mood. *shrug*
Yeah Amy Shadowfever is really long. I don’t like being too much in a character’s head either. I prefer them making a stupid decision and me wondering “what were you thinking?!”
Amy, Shadowfever is l-o-n-g. I’ve been re-reading it before starting Iced. I also just got Burned from the library. I just can’t seem to make myself finish Shadowfever, so I can move on, even though I feel like I need the refresher, since I can’t remember enough details. I keep starting other books. These books are going to be overdue before I finish. Also, reading the comments about Burned doesn’t help me.
Fate Book I’d free right now too. I remember MichelleS really liked this one.
“is” free
Oh yey Jean I’m excited to read it then and I haven’t read an actor book in a while either.
Amy, Shadowfever is just insanely long. I liked being in Mac’s head when it still felt like her and not some ninny in some book that doesn’t exist possibly called Burned…
I feel like I’m biting my nails down just waiting for the bad to happen in All The Stars in the Sky. I’m totally living it with them!
“not some ninny in some book that doesn’t exist possibly called Burned…” LOL Michelle
Whew, okay it’s not just me. I think I’m gonna set SF aside (I have about 25% left) and start All the Stars in the Sky. I think maybe I’m kinda Fae’d out right now since I have been reading books 3, 4 and 5 back to back, and that was *after* Seducing Destiny.
Ninny. *snicker*
So, thinking I’m doing really good in the no buying area and then connect to the internet and 6, yes 6 books download. They were all sale, except Worth the Risk, but still. I’m totally grounding myself from here. I have huge library pile too. So, less talking more reading for me for now, lol.
Fate Book is FREE? I’d pick that one up. I loved it. It was funny and mysterious and sexy and I did not predict AT ALL what was going to happen. A really nice surprise when in a book slump or between a long series. It’s by Mimi Pamfiloff, the one who wrote the King Trilogy (which I also loved) and the Accidentally in love series (which was just meh for me).
Amy – I need you to talk me into finishing Dark Secrets STAT. I am at 21% (I think the first two books are combined because it feels like I’ve been reading forever!). GAH! Her writing is killing me. It really gets better? You swear?? You made it to a book four of this? I am getting squirrelly.
Michelle – of that list of freebies and 99 cent bargains, which ones have you read and recommend? Give me at least 3 or 4 names. I trust you! And dang it, I bought The Boy who Sneaks in my bedroom Window last week. ARGH!
I just finished Ace’s Wild. I am so bummed out. It was almost a dnf for me. Hell’s Eight series is one of my all time favorites. Each book has been 4.5 to 5 star reads for me. So I’m sad, and upset and really pissed off about Ace’s Wild. It literally turned my stomach. I want to cry and don’t know whether to post an Amazon review or pretend I never read it. What do y’all do when you your review is a bad one? Every book is a work of love by an author so what do you say or not say when the story just wasn’t right for you?
Fabi – that’s a tough one for me too – I have done it once or twice – like with Rogue, by Katy Evans… I loved Real, and could not believe it was even the same author. And I paid a pretty penny for it, so I wrote my 1 star review. If it was a free book, I probably wouldn’t. If it was a full priced novel and awful… then I say yes. I rely on reviews and sometimes don’t buy a book because of good honest reviews. It would have saved me some $$ had people been honest about Rogue!!
MichelleS, hmm I really haven’t read a lot of the ones I’ve posted recently. A lot come from my wishlist that I’m waiting to go one sale but I leave books I’ve purchased on it too. The freebies are mostly new to me and might catch my eye when scrolling through deals daily. Driven by K Bromberg is free and I loved that series. Forgotten Sins by Rebecca Zanetti (.99) I’m dying to read since I love that author. Revanant by Larissa Ione (.99) is another one that I love that series but haven’t read that book yet. Until the End of the World is .99 and I just finished that series and loved it so I can rec that one. On todays list which I haven’t gotten together yet, there is Twilight Guardians by Maggie Shayne for .99 which I grabbed since her old Wings in the Night series is a classic. I haven’t read them all but you do not need to for the new series. Oh, He Found Me by Whitney Barbetti is free and I loved it but haven’t read the second concluding book yet. I love love Ten Below Zero by her too. Haha is that what ya wanted – I got on a ramble there…too much caffeine today for sure!
Amy I finished All the Stars in the Sky and was pleasantly surprised with how it ends. I really enjoyed this series and hope she comes up with a new one since I’m now a fan!
Wow Michelle, you flew through that series! I want to read it but have to get myself in that kinda mood ya know?
Just wanted to let you guys know, even through Verum ended in a CH, I can’t stop thinking about it a day later so…… And then I read Vigilante’s Lover #2 and I just love this series…. Lots of action, mystery…. they are on the run…and if course the sexual tension!!
Now I’m reading Kyland…..I know I’m all over the place with me choices….. So far it is really sweet and appears to be a slow build up….
I like being all over the place with my reading. If I stay in the same genre too many books in a row the stories start blurring into each other.
I went ahead a wrote a review of Ace’s Wild. 🙁 I hate doing that, but Michelle is right. Also, because of y’alls reaction to Burned, I took Bev’s advice and shelved it for reading when the sequel comes out. So, negative reviews/reactions help me too.
I’m going with a straight sci fi next to clear my pallet so to speak. The Martian won the 2014 Goodreads award so I’m behind the eight ball on it. I was busy learning to love CR in 2014 – lol.
Maryse, since you have these new categories, maybe you can list the favorites in each at the end of the year? haha I’m sure you need me to suggest more work for you. But again, let me say how much I love the new categories.
I know Jean I gobbled that series up but they read really fast…not just for me 😉
If anyone wants more apocalyptic type stories, I have to plug Station Eleven. It’s fantastic – one of my favorite reads from last year!
Negative or lukewarm reviews are needed more. Reviews are more likely biased towards positive since people will write one if they like a book more often than if they don’t. There’s nothing I dislike more than reading a book with inflated positive reviews and thinking was I just reading the same thing…and wasting money of course!
Station Eleven is now on my wish list. Thanks!
I just randomly ran across this free one while adding Station Eleven to my wish list. It has 20/21 5* reviews.

Grabbed that free one Fabi. Yey seriously read Station Eleven because you’re missing out!
So I just read the description of Station Eleven on amazon. It sounds amazing!!! Who is in with me? Fabi??? Michelle loved it and she loved Tairen Soul and Mageri, so I owe her a read (snicker snicker)…..!!! Do you have to be in a certain mood? Or it’s just all-around-good? I wonder if it meets any of the reading challenge criteria?
I would MichelleS but I’be already started to read The Martian next. By the thousands of positive reviews, it is a sure thing. I need that right now. But I am definitely reading Sation Eleven. I love having these unusual ones to mix in with the romance reading.
Thanks for that list Michelle! I grabbed the Lindy Zart book! I loved Take Care Sara and Merry Christmas Lincoln by her!
And I agree Station Eleven looks good!!!
MichelleS, here’s what I think about the DS thing but a few quick points first…1) the author is an Aussie so that sometimes can play into the writing style (which I know you already know ;)); 2) if I remember correctly that was her first attempt at writing, and I really do think her writing has improved with each subsequent book – not to KMM level or anything but still pretty good; and 3) if I read her first couple of books *now* after having so many more books under my belt, I don’t know that I would stick with the series…but I’m glad I did!
Okay, so all that being said, if I were you I wouldn’t try and force myself to read it if the writing is bugging you to that extent. It’s a really good series but not so phenomenal that you should have to force it, ya know? I just have loved (and been so surprised at) how she has made me vacillate between liking and hating the characters, and I’m a sucker – pun intended – for vampire stories. What I can say though is that Ara *does* mature as the series goes on, and that makes it much better…she actually gets put in her place at one point by someone who points out how immature she is with her arm crossing and foot stomping. *snicker* If you stick with it, great! If you don’t feel like you want to, don’t sweat it. 😉 I actually stopped reading it at first but came back to it later before I stuck with it. Hope this helps!
Holy crap, Michelle! You finished it already?? I started it last night and I’m loving being back in that world. 😀
Oh yeah, Michelle seems to read entire series in the time it takes me to read one book.
Get off the Pain. by Victoria Ashley is a must read.
Oh yes I read it almost in one sitting and didn’t go to bed until I was done. Amy, I loved it and speaking about going from hating to loving characters, this series is a perfect example for me.
Read Station Eleven. It’s a breath of fresh air. I thought the writing was so elegant and the story poignant and haunting.
Jean, I loved those books too. I still have to read Unlit Star and Roomies.
Ok MichelleS I really enjoyed The Mageri series but I was slightly disappointed with how it ended. I wanted more and the wrap up was too fast. After all that with Nero and then bam done. My favorite books were definitely 2 and 3.
Chris, I got that one and now glad I did – moving it up the good ol’ tbr 🙂
Same here, Michelle. And I’m pretty sure I won’t be going to sleep tonight until I finish it. 😉
Get Off On the Pain sounds good, Chris. *snort* Love that title. What??? Y’all can’t tell me that title didn’t send your mind to naughty places! 😛
*in a sing-songy voice* Ohhhh Faaaaaabi…did ya see what Michelle said about All the Stars in the Sky? See, now you hafta read the series!
*one eye peeks out from dark corner*
*snort* 😛
I love you guys!!!!!
Fabi, the first one was really good. I promise. All sorts of character development that just makes your tummy clench. Some sadness, some wistfulness, but really good.
Michelle, I loved The Groupie and That Boy. Such opposite stories. The Groupie has major angst and That Boy is hilarious!!
Cheryl, I’ve wanted both but glad I waited for a sale. Groupie I’ve heard a couple people say is angsty so right up my alley 🙂
I started 3.2.1. (A Dark Suspense)… I didn’t get very far last night but was on the edge of my seat the whole time, pretty much from page one. I am now counting down the hours until I get to read. That part I like… that crazy feeling about a book. Will report back…… 🙂 (It was my number one recommendation on Amazon, that’s why I picked it).
It’s the number one romantic suspense book on amazon and it has 363 of 416 – 5 STAR reviews….. I’m excited!
Oooo MichelleS, I just got that book now I’m excited! Love a book that you can’t wait to get back to.
I’m still reading Kyland and I LOVE t!
Michelle, that one has been a major tbr for me. Glad to know it’s as good as it looks.
I also got 3.2.1 yesterday (when I was *not* one-clicking Verum) because it looked soooo good and different…now I’m really excited to read it! I think I’ll start it as soon as I’m done with All the Stars in the Sky.
So, 3.2.1 sounds like it could be a three-way relationship thing…am I right or wrong MichelleS? That’s a crazy different theme for me. I’ve only read something similar one time but in that one the hubby couldn’t get his wife pregnant so they enlisted the help of his friend. It got messy. Uh, I mean between the three of them. *cringe* Not in THAT way, I mean relationship-wise. *sigh* You know what I mean…
Amy – it’s definitely a very complicated, twisted, dark story of three people. And yes…. there are threesomes…. so if that bothers you, this is not the book for you. But it’s so much more. Very very early on, one of the guys basically says, “I saw her first”… but she’s like a broken little doll and they have their own wacked out pasts…. and in a dirty business…. it’s reminding me of Krylov, Fabi. Erotic but complicated.
Already 1-clicked it MichelleS. I saw you start to spell out K-r- and I 1-clicked.
Amy I don’t think I can read the one you were suggesting right now but I can read 3 2 1 with you or I can read one of your all time recommendations still on my tbr, Room 212.
Pierce Brown’s Morning Star is available for preorder so I’m getting that one too.
I have to finish reading The Martian first. I slept 3 hours last night because of this demon page Turner of a book. By tonight or tomorrow I’ll be ready to start the next book.
…reminds you of Krylov anddd click!
Oooo I love the cover of Morning Star. I like them all – simple, graphic but they have an impact.
I have The Martian on my list since it was top scifi pick on GR. When I need to mix it up I’m reading it.
Michelle, when you read The Martian, plan a time when you don’t have to put it down until its over. Otherwise you’ll find yourself walking around with your reader everywhere you go. *rubs wall bruises*
But caution lovers of romance novels, The Martian has zero (0) romance. Yup, that’s right. Zilch, nada, not a damn hint of romance. It is straight up hard sci fi.
-didn’t want to lead anyone astray on that one-
Speaking of beautiful covers, Susan Ee’s trilogy conclusion, End of Days has a gorgeous cover reveal.
MichelleS, threesomes in books don’t bother me anymore…I had that book cherry popped with the one I mentioned above. 😉
Fabi, I’m thinking I’ll start it this weekend after I finish UTEOTW book 3 and then the last part of Shadowfever, so maybe tomorrow? And you know how much I loved Room 212 so that goes without saying!
UTEOTW? I can’t keep up with these crazy book acronyms!
