WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! A.L. Jackson’s latest release JUST WENT LIVE!!! ➜ Stay: A Bleeding Stars Stand-Alone Novel!!! THIS ROCK STAR’S lifestyle finally caught up with him…
“Willow Langston found me at my lowest. Literally. Facedown in a puddle of my own blood.
I owe her my life and I have three months to repay that debt…”
And also: Hard & Reckless (Club Reckless Book 1) by Victoria Ashley <— JUST WENT LIVE!! WHOA. WHAT. A. COVER!!! His best friend stole his girl… and now he wants revenge. “Somewhere in his f**ked up, twisted mind, he thought it would be okay to share my girl. Now… Now, he gets to see what it feels like to share what is his. Brooke Collins… Hopefully she can handle both of us, because I intend to make Cole work for her. The hard part will be making sure she falls for the right one in the end. I don’t intend for that to be me… ”
HOLY MOLY this is a big list!! 100+ featuring some big-hit authors with books that we were highly anticipating, and a few new-to-me that sound just as good.
Like: The Room Mate (I love roommate stories… pining is always so fun. And it’s even more fun when they sorta can’t stand each other. All of that invasion of privacy and blurring of lines!!), Unsightly (a modern-day “Beauty and the Beast” and the whole blurb has me!!! She has an accident and wakes up in the abandoned house that’s rumored to house a scary-looking guy), The Dark Forest (THAT WARNING! *gasp*!!! And of course, keyword… “taboo”. YIKES!! Consider me titillated and curious! Sometimes it’s fun to be appalled. 😉 ) Raw Deal (Cherrie Lynn is one of my absolute favorites, and this is her latest. He’s a fighter that killed her brother in the ring… and then he shows up at the funeral), Gravity (she was always there for him since they were young, and then he becomes so famous, she’s practically left behind, and devastated…), Crazy Good Love (she finally gets away from her overprotective brothers, and now she has to contend with her roommate’s overprotective brother, too. And he’s hot. And HER family likes him ’cause he’s overprotective like they are. *sigh* POOR HER. LOL!!! I love the sound of that!).
Then there are a few in the bargain section that have me rubbing my hands together with glee! Whistling In the Dark (eeeeep!! That creepy blurb), The Hard Count (super-bargain and totally for me!!) and of course Trigger Warning (which I one-clicked with gusto)!
P.S. I’m reading an AWESOME book right now by Leylah Attar that’s coming out next week (it’s not up for preorder yet) but I will keep you updated. SO far, it’s everything I’ve come to expect from her and more! Vibrant, and intense, and awful and wonderful.
P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

- The Hard Count by Ginger Scott <— FOOTBALL PLAYER ALERT!!! AMAZING REVIEWS & it’s super-bargain priced right now. I LOVE this author!!! He’s from the wrong side of town, and she’s the privileged daughter of the coach. “When two ugly worlds collide, even the strongest fall. But my world…it hasn’t met the boy from West End…“
Jaime: I finished The Hard Count this morning. Really lovely story with some themes that are really relevant – especially this week. A five star read for me.
Tasha: …you should definitely read The Hard Count! It’s so much more than just a romance. More of the focus really is on football, the politics on that, family dynamic and struggles, and there are touches on drugs, gangs, violence. I got really caught up in the football, lol, I caught myself still with spirit chanting “Hoorah” (internally) days after!
Sara: This is an awesome book!
- Whistling In the Dark by Lesley Kagen <— CREEPY PSYCH-THRILLER? Gorgeous cover, creepy title and an even more ominous blurb! A VERY BAD guy is on the loose, and two little girls are trying to fend for themselves. “…the girls’ mother is hospitalized, their stepfather has abandoned them for a six pack, and their big sister, Nell, is too busy making out with her boyfriend to notice that Sally and Troo are on the Loose. And so is a murderer and molester. Highly imaginative Sally is pretty sure of two things. Who the killer is. And that she’s next on his list. Now she has no choice but to protect herself and Troo as best she can, relying on her own courage and the kindness of her neighbors…” (super-bargain priced today)

ANY BOOK CALLED TRIGGER WARNING HAS MY ATTENTION BIG TIME!!!! I saw it last week and I wanted it, and today, it’s SUPER-BARGAIN priced! I one-clicked!!! “Trigger Warning explores the masks we all wear and the people we are beneath them to reveal our vulnerabilities and our truest selves. Here is a rich cornucopia of horror and ghosts stories, science fiction and fairy tales, fabulism and poetry that explore the realm of experience and emotion…” and quite a few of our fellow readers are HUGE fans of this author!
Catherine: I love Neil Gaiman.
Lisa: …I love Neil Gaiman….did you read American Gods?
Jennzah: my absolute one favourite book in the entire world is Stardust by Neil Gaiman. <3 no ifs, ands, or buts. it’s such a beautiful story and I LOVE IT.
- 8 Days For Salvation by Yolanda Olsen <— KIDNAPPED/DARK READ ALERT!!! Okay so, I only just found out about this author due to a book she has coming out in a few days (Creep – down there in the preorders. The cover gave me the heebs). LOL!!! The blurb intrigued and confused me, and then I noticed she had MORE dark books out (listed as horror, but they sound along the lines of “dark read” horror – not supernatural monsters, but more like… human monsters. Bad guy serial killers and kidnappers and the like.) Pretty good reviews, too. I haven’t read her yet, but I think I must give her a try! Anyway, all that to say that this one sounds like some of our creepy dark reads. 😀 “If you can hear me. If you can see me. My name is Ione Winslow. PLEASE HELP.“

How we love our reclusive, tortured heroes. 😉 Okay so, all her life she’s heard rumors about a “beastly boy” in an abandoned house in a forest, and one day she has a car accident around there and wakes up in the abandoned house. “Over the next couple of days, he nurses her back to health, but she never sees his face. He wears a mask and refuses to take if off. In the final minutes before her departure, curiosity gets the better of her and she yanks his mask off. Immediately, she is horrified. His face is deformed and unsightly. Angry, he tells her that she’s made a terrible mistake, and now she can’t leave. While held prisoner, her captor waffles between cold and kind…“

- Blurring the Lines (Men of the Zodiac) by Marisa Cleveland <— OFFICE ROMANCE ALERT!! And it’s super-bargain priced today! She told him he’s ruining the community so he hired her, but “...the more he tells himself to keep his hands off his new, sexy secretary, the harder it is for him to come up with reasons why office romances never work and why it’s a bad idea to cross the line...”

- Eleventh Grave in Moonlight (Charley Davidson Series) by Darynda Jones <— DARYNDA JONES ALERT!! Remember that huge series sale last week? This was the reason why…

Okee, now that I got that out of the way, so far, I’m loving the new Charlie Davidson. Pure laughs as she basically gives a quick overview.
And Snared’s release date was moved to April. 😀
Ahhhh good catch! Okay I removed it. 😀
Vampire Girl is on sale for .99 cents!
OMG!!!! Wrecking Ball!!!!! Same feel as WoW that I had to check the author!!! Sooo LOVING this! *happy dances around room*
YAY DG!!!! I love the sound of that!!!
I think I have to get Raw Deal. For some reason I just can’t seem to resist that one no matter how jam packed my reading schedule is.
Have you ever had one of those days where you want to throw your middle fingers up and shout deuces! I’ve had like 6 of these days in a row now… Gah! Where’s Manny?
Holy moly, MARYSE!! First I find out Mists of Serengeti is by Leylah Attar (LOVE her writing) and then I see all those great ones up there…you made my day!!! Can we squee together? Let’s squee together! One big group SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Sorry, too much afternoon coffee. *giggle*
*squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*!!!!!!!! 😀
*happy wiggles*
Aw Grey, rough few days? Here’s a snuggle to go with Manny…
*hands Manny to Grey and snuggles her*
😀
Wow what a list!!! My poor tbr list!! What should I start??? Room Mate, Casanova, Gravity, Egomaniac or Crazy Good Love!!! Just to name a few!!! Love that first comment Tessa!! I think I was first once.
Ow. That hurt my ears.
I love Bev’s grumpy puppy face!!
Soooooo many good-sounding ones. The ones making me super-squee are Crazy Good Love & Scoring Lacey.
Grey I hope your week gets better.
*hugs Grey*
Hey, do you ever get a like from a stranger on gr and go all stranger danger.
never
*snort*
I swear that puppy picture is perfect for you.
I’m totally digging PirateSteve who started liking my reviews then friended me. The first one he liked was On the Island and I LOL’d for 30 minutes.
But how did he find you? A friend if a friend?
What does Pirate Steve read?
Fabi, lol. It just makes want a puppy.
Beats me. Friend of a friend, I guess. He read A. Torre and has Blister, Jezebel, You, Mud Vein, etc. on his TBR. His tastes seem all over the place.
Most of my “friends” are Emma Scott and Suanne Laqueur fans.
Soooo….Wrecking Ball!!!!!!!!!!!
If you FLOVED WoW, then you will definitely dig WB!!!
This guy is such a strong, huge quiet jerk! And she wants to throat punch him like a lot!!!! Mix in a kid…some football and crazy jealousy…my kinda book!
hmmm, I don’t like kids in my romance books
In Unbreakable, the H has a little girl and it made me LOVE him. He may be one of my all time favorite H’s because of it. It seems like I’ve read more books with kids in them that I liked, but I can’t thing of them now.
I need fifty Charley Davidson books. *sighs* I’m done and totally wishing I wasn’t. The ending was CH but you all know that doesn’t bother me one bit. I just want more of that world. 😀
Now, what to read? The angel book? Bird and the Sword? How to Save a Life? Or do I want something else, like Cupcakes and Ink, Menace, or Every Wrong Reason? CHOICES!
I loved Every Wrong Reason and HTSAL and I just got that one in audio so it’s going to be my *first* 😀
I plan to read Bird and the Sword soon too. Maybe next month.
DG- who’s the author of Wrecking Ball?
SQUEEEE!!! * a little late*
Sounds fun DG. WoW wasn’t a favorite but I really liked a couple of her other books.
Mmm. I loved WoW and I might check out Wrecking Ball 🙂
So I have read and have enjoyed insta love books. Yet, not a favorite trope. Just bugs me when the heroine is in the depths of despair after a few days.
But what really bugs me is not the insta love so much as the instant, I see his true self. I know all his emotions and reasons for being.
It drives me nuts.
Bev, the GR thing used to freak me out but since they re-did site, it’s easy to inadvertently “like” a friend of a friend. Its set up weird where all your stuff shows on my feed and if I don’t look closely it gets confusing to see who made original comment. It’s annoying. However, now that I think of it. I would be freaked out if stranger was a man. No men are allowed in my world of romance reading. 😉
D.G., I was not a fan of WoW, but Wrecking Ball sounds good. I might give a try.
Fabi, I love kids in my romance novels. Something about a man interacting with a child makes me melt. I enjoy hearing what other readers like/dislike…makes me not feel so picky.
Insta-love? Ugh!! Getting very sick of that.
Every Wrong Reason sounds interesting….I got that one free few days ago. Not sure if it’s my thing or not.
I have 4 books pre – ordered for Feb.
Crazy Messy Beautiful by Carrie Arcos. I don’t remember why I pre ordered this one, lol.
Devil in Spring by Lisa Kleypas! ! Yay.
Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones. Cause it sounds like Labyrinth.
Pretty Face by Lucy Parker. Yes, please.
Hey…guess what?
I think I’m the easy going reader in this group. Yes. Me. That makes me happy, lol.
*throws hands up in the air*
Cheryl – P. Dangelico is the author
I mentioned a kid in the mix…just to clarify…the h is a teacher and the kid is part of the reason she tolerates the jerky H to begin with.
I loved WoW but I think I enjoyed this one even more *gasps*. Wrecking Ball is a slow burn BUT does go a little further into the relationship than WoW did. It wasn’t a at the end of the book, final chapter they finally got their act together kinda book.
I have zero problem with insta-love. I look back on some of my most memorable romances and I knew within seconds of meeting the person there was something there. It was probably more like insta-attraction, but all the same things apply. You can’t stop thinking about them. You’ll do anything to spend time with them. The sun rises and sets, blah, blah, blah. I just want the author to own it. Don’t be vague. If it’s immediate, just say so!
ditto R. exactly, exactly, exactly.
DG, one more thing, this says book 1. It’s a standalone, right?
And R, I totally agree!!
Seriously Maryse. I keep diving back into this monster list of yours and I’m afraid I’m going to lose my mind in this mountain of beautiful books.
If you guys happen to see a lady walking around this mountain of books with a glazed look in her eyes mumbling over and over “I want this one, I want this one, I want this one…” Pay no attention, it’s just me having a mild psychotic book-lover episode.
I got you Fabi. I’ll just set you down and pat you on the head and hand you one book at a time until you either close it or throw it.
Thank you R !! Can I sit in your treehouse with my book?
Not if you’re in a book daze! It’s dangerous up there! I’ll need you to walk a straight line and recite the alphabet in German backwards first.
I agree Fabi, I’m so overwhelmed I can’t decide which “goodie” to start reading first. ADD book disorder!!!
dang it! Walking in circles and mumbling “mien, mien, mien…” won’t do?
I think that’s close enough!
Cheryl, I’m just dropping one after another into my tbr. Don’t know when I’ll read them, but I know they’re mine. hahaha
So I feel like a broken record ( does that saying show my age? Ugh), but the final book in the Brightest Kind of Darkness series is out today!! It’s called Awaken. Am I the only one who cares? I feel so lonely now!! And old, I feel old because I talk about broken records!!
LOL Melanie!!!
Nothing broken record about you. I shall post it. :D!!
In fact, Melanie… I’m going to make it a series introduction/reading order post. 😀
Anything you wanna tell me about it?
Is WoW Wall of Winnepeg? If so, I’m definitely adding that to my tbr.
I still haven’t decided on my February challenge read, but I’m thinking of diving into Charley Davidson again. I think I’m up to book 7 next and so badly need to catch up!
Crazy Good Love sounds really good, I just dk if I wanna add anymore to my tbr right now. I’m starting to get that big overwhelmy feeling where I want to read everything and dk where to start! I’ve only ever preordered like 1-2 books before, but I think I’m gonna preorder Caraval. It’s screaming at me the loudest and in just a week it shall be mine! I’m also really looking forward to How to Date a Douchebag: The Failing Hours.
Like I said I can sometimes take insta it’s the I know everything about the real you after 5 days.
Hopefully, most people are more complex ever growing and changing.
I honestly have to reread the series!! I just know that I really liked the characters and storytelling! Everything flows really nicely and keeps your attention! Thanks to you I have recently gotten into more of the romance genre, but I do remember this being one of my favorite paranormal series!
It is a bit spooky when a random stranger likes your post on GR. It’s like Huh? double take? Who are you???? I guess sometimes they’re friend of a friend, or else they were just scrolling through reviews and connected with yours. But it’s a weird surprise when it happens.
I’m not normally an insta love fan either. Even in pnr, when they meet their ‘mate’, I kinda think, yeah….. whatever. Although it can be done well, like in The Snowfang Bride where they were destined mates but had to take time to get to know each other. An instant attraction, OK, but when it’s so OTT it seems like an obsession, it gets a bit creepy or just plain not-believable.
Cheryl – yes, it was a standalone. However, there were several ‘repeat’ folks ….so maybe the next is about one of them.
Tasha J …yes WoW is Wall of Winnipeg. I am so ready for someone to go ahead and read it …to confirm it reminds them of it too!!! Who’s it gonna be???…and hurry up now! LOL
I LOVE SoulMate love!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ But it can’t always be all unicorns and rainbows…there has to be either angst or something that cause a couple of storm waves. And soulmate love can be insta-love…but with a twist or it’s boring.
So how’d you end up liking the new Florand, Jan?
I have seen two positive reviews for it. One has me intrigued about the hero. She said he is all bitter and dramatic over the perfume the h smashed, except he is not really a brooding hero so only when he remembered it, lol.
I’ll move that up in my TBR. I’ve had it forever.
I was referring to Brightest Kind of Darkness.
I like installing love when done right. I especially love the random obsession because usually the recipient is clueless and think they have a stalker. 😀
I do have an issue of meeting a mate when one is an adult and one’s a child. Just… Eeeeew!
DG, who is the author for Wrecking Ball? If it’s on this list I’m having trouble finding it. And on Goodreads.
I’ve had 1 stranger like something of mine once and I intitially did have that stranger danger feeling! Lol. But I have liked stranger’s reviews too. Like after a read a book, sometimes I’ll check others reviews and see if they think what I’m thinking and they already put it all into better words than I could have so I like them. For me it’s just saying, “yep, I felt that way too.”
Now, I’m working on writing my feelings on E&P. I stink so badly at reviews, it’s such a challenge for me to put my thoughts together sometimes. I tried, and it was a rambley mess so I’m working on it. Lol
I think probably 50% of my likes come from strangers. I usually do a book comparison and if we’re similar I send a friend request. I’m also constantly liking non-friend reviews.
I agree. There’s a fine line between adult/child mates and creepiness. Sometimes you should just stay far away from that line!
R, you friend request strangers? And they accept?
I’m only friends with people from here.
Tasha, I need to know, lol.
I am pretty sure that I would suck at writing a review.
All the time! And strangers friend me too. I’ve met a TON of people through GR! I only check the “top friend” box if I know them already or if we share book interests, but most of them fit those categories. Except PirateSteve. He’s just cool. And Joe. He loves my reviews lol.
I agree. This and GR and most other social media sites are public. So there are tons of people you interact with that you don’t know. I think it’s wonderful because in person I’m usually too shy to talk to someone unless they speak to me first. On social media I tend to be a little less shy. Probably because I’m interacting with strangers who I already know I have some interest in common.
I’ve never turned down a friend request on GR and as far as I know no one has turned down one of mine.
Tasha,this is Wrecking Ball
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/32941327-wrecking-ball?ac=1&from_search=true
This is me getting back at bev for making me cry with her stupid videos. Don’t watch if you’re not bev. LOL. It was just posted on Emma’s Entourage FB page. I’ve been BAWLING for ten minutes! https://www.fox5vegas.com/clip/13007915/fox5-surprise-squad-gives-family-of-10-biggest-surprise-ever
Patricia Briggs husband passed away.
All my friends on GR are strangers. (but all female)
Most found me from the romance reader groups I belong to. It doesn’t really me out to get friend requests as long as it’s a woman & she has same reading tastes. I frequently like strangers reviews too.
Stupid autocorrect
“It doesn’t *freak* me out”
I make you cry?
I didn’t know there was a top friends box.
About 20 of my “friends” are men. I get male friend reqs usually after I review non-romance books like Amityville or Owen Meany. I also know several through writing and beta reading.
I’m friends with women, men, readers, authors and everything in between. Often I can’t tell if the person is male or female from their screen name. Very few men read FM romance, but some read MM and a lot of the men read sci-fi or fantasy or the thrillers I like.
You used to post sad youtube videos for books I was reading. I can’t remember which ones now. I’d have to ask Amy. I think she got suckered in too!
If you go to your friends and click edit, you can choose who you see in your feed by clicking on “top friend.”
Thanks Leslie, that wasn’t showing up at first. I added it!
Ok so I have a request. I saw Ed Sheeran’s video for Castle on the Hill the other day and it had me feeling all sorts of feels. Check it out and tell me of any books that make you think of it! I wanna read a book with all of this so badly! https://www.google.com/amp/amp.usatoday.com/story/96945790/
Tasha, I don’t usually do books with characters that age. The only one on my list that even comes close is The Wild Reckless.
Oh, ha.
I think it was Just Like Him by Brandy Clark.
And I think you mentioned that the National ‘ s I need my girl, may of made you cry too.
That family was very sweet to take those children in.
I will look at it Tasha, but I’m horrible at this. I still have no idea what book to pick for the song month with the tbr challenge.
It was before that though. I can’t remember the book!
Maybe Full Tilt?
Thanks, I added that one R. I remember checking that out a while back and I keep forgetting about it.
I’ve been thinking about the song month lately, I need the link again so I can start thinking of books for it!
Maybe this is a question Maryse can ask her readers Tasha!
Amy’s the one who posts the excessively sad song to accompany the book that someone reads. She’s not going to be much help there.
Alright, still working through my book buying spree. PNR, Fantasy, or CR? *grins* I love my problems.
Maybe it was Amy. But I would have sworn it was bev. Maybe bev’s just easier to blame 😀
Tasha – Bev for June – I need my girl by The National: https://www.google.com/search?q=the+national+i+need+my+girl&oq=the+national+I+need+my+&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l2j69i60.12107j0j4&client=ms-android-samsung&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8. use this song, lyrics, video etc to inspire your book choice
Tasha, first that came to mind is Graffiti Moon, which is YA. It takes place during one night when two groups of friends come together. It maybe has the feel of being young and free and making those connections.
As to leaving and going back home…..can’t believe I’m putting this book out there cause I did not like the heroine. At. All. But others loved it.
Forever My Girl. H left to prusue music, cutting ties, until he comes back home.
That could be fun R., seeing what everyone comes up with!
Oh my gosh Bev, Graffiti Moon sounds so good! I added it. I literally laughed out loud at your Forever My Girl rec. lol. Like it really pained you to say it, haha. I did read that one, I don’t think I got the same feels as that video though. It’s been a while, I liked it ok, I remember, but it wasn’t a huge fave for me I don’t think. I saved your song rec. For some reason I thought it was March. I got my feels locked it for it, but now have no idea how I’m gonna match a book to them.
It totally pained me.
I don’t either. I picked the song with no book in mind.
*shrug *
I love that song! I added it to the playlist on my website!
Most of my GR friends are from here. I did have one random who asked to friend me after some comments I made on a sci-fi thread. I had to email them to warn that if we were GR friends they would get all of my romance posts and links as well LOL but they seemed to be OK with that.
I think any rock star book would be good for that month of the tbr challenge. I’m going with High Strung by T. Gephert. I’ve had it hanging around on my tbr for ages.
bev I’m enjoying the new Laura Florand book. It’s a little bit slower than some of her others but still has that lovely romantic tone. I’m taking my time with it. Tristan the H is gorgeous and it seems like he’s secretly been crushing on Malorie since they were kids. But Malorie is untrusting of men in general after the bad example set by men in her own family. But they are slowly working out that maybe there is something real between them. It is taking its own sweet time, though :/
In the meantime I got sidetracked (as I often do!) and have read Wrecking Ball on DG’s rec. And yes, I REALLY LIKED IT!! It IS like Wall of Winnipeg in lots of ways. Slooowww burn with a slightly enigmatic, hot footballer H. The h is different from WoW, but the setup is kinda the same. Although in this case she’s tutoring his nephew rather than being his PA. Different back stories etc, but it has a similar flavour. They HATE each other at first…… 🙂 The book’s really good and I second your rec DG. Thanks. I’d never even heard of this author before. She writes well.
YAY JAN!!!!!! Sooo glad you liked and felt it had WoW feel too!!! Same here I have never heard of this author either…now I am checking out other books by her.
I spent two hours reading samples last night. Nothing sucked me in… boo… need to check out this humongous list. Maybe there’s a gem in there?
Tell us what your mood is and let us try and pick a book.
These are gorgeous. Never been to any of them.

FLT
“Running away sucked.” ~ Everything You Want Me to Be by Mindy Mejia
It’s really good but the chapters from the sheriff’s POV, however informative, are slowing things down for me. I just don’t care for detective/cop POVs most of the time. BUT the murdered girl and teacher’s POVs are GREAT. 😀
FLT Going back to Murmuration today by TJ Klune!! And how awesomely familiar is this first line???
“Before he opens his eyes, he thinks, My head hurts and What happened? and Who am I?”
Those libraries are beautiful, bev.
The one not too far from me in Washington leaves a lot to be desired, but the East coast libraries are just… *siggghhh* I’m kinda partial to the Southeast though. 😉
I stayed up too late last night reading Siren’s Song by Ella Summers. I think this is her best series to date.
That said, no FLT yet. I think my next book will be chosen based on its first line.
R, that sounds like how I woke up a few times in Vegas. *snort*
Pick a good one for us, Tessa!!
FLT:
“Sometimes I hate the girl I was back then”
Deeper by Robin York
You know, the libraries I’ve been to are mostly modern style. Those can’t really compete against the LA one. Though, I wonder how it is inside.
Bahahaha! Amy!!
*Hides* That’s how I woke up on Tuesday…
*snicker* In other words, Monday was a GOOD night. 😛
Leslie! I loved that one!!!
I remember Brightest Kind of Darkness!! I read a couple (two, three?) of them back when I was reading a ton of PNR, and they were pretty good. 😀
FLT- “Ove is fifty-nine.” – A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman
Leslie–looking forward to hearing what you think!
Tessa–I was just looking at that series on Amazon the other day. There are tons of PnR/UF series that are free with KU and that was one of them, so I’m glad to hear it’s good. I just shelved it on GR–been in a major PnR mood lately!

“I lay on a psychiatrist’s couch, a couch I’d named Alexander Skarsgård the moment my gaze landed on its buttery curves and wide back, and wondered if I should tell Dr. Mayfield about the dead kid scurrying across her ceiling.”
Eleventh Grave in Moonlight by Darynda Jones
I’m using my FLT for the book I’m listening to on Audible instead of the one I’m reading. Mainly because I am so crazy in love with this book. I mean, swoony, melty, in love.
“Sometimes I closed my eyes and tried to remember what it felt like to live in luxury.” The Player by Claire Contreras
This dreamy love story does not match the title, the cover or even the blurb. And the narration is top-notch.
FLT – There’s a sound people make when they break.
Wait For It – M O’Keefe
omg Lisa that’s one powerful first line
My FLT just switched to Fabi’s because she gave me an **EMERGENCY REC**
Leslie, I still plan to do the BR next. Murmuration is long, so this should still take me the same amount of time. Luckily that’s the kind of book you can savor and read a little at a time!
lol!!! I guess I had a bit of a freak-out this morning. I just couldn’t stand to swoon all by myself.
um… So Siren’s Song seemed to have put me into a book fog. *sighs* I have opened so many books and have been all, meh! I have so many good books that I got this month and still, nothing.
Fabi…my dearest Fabi. I am ALWAYS available for a swooning if you can’t find anyone else, or if you just want a “more the merrier” situation!!!
Fabi I read that one.
LeslieM, I freaking love Deeper so very curious.
So, I would of rated The Player at a 3.
See that’s why I can’t pinpoint your taste. I did not get Deeper at all. I think I rated it 3 stars and the follow up 2? But like you said yesterday, you’re easier on h’s and Deeper’s h bugged me.
Bev, I love the link to the libraries around the county!
Leslie, I loved Deeper! Enjoy!
So Eversea….just finished and it was a major struggle for me! What did everyone else think that was in on the BR?
There are too many damn books to choose from right now…..was going to jump right into Preppy 2 but I’m feeling squirrelly…..The Hard Count….or oh what is Fabi freaking about, The Player? Not sure if I have that one yet. Ugh! Or maybe Trigger by L.P. Dover or Wrecking Ball…..or…….*#!&/*
I can’t understand when someone tries to friend me on GR and we have absolutely no books in common (that’s usually the first thing I look at). And yeah, no guy friends, unless they are authors.
Jean, Eversea started out with a bang, but fizzled. I gave it 3.5 stars which is a basic “I liked it, nothing more” (really a 3 star if you go by GR). I loved the writing as it reminded me of Carlino, but the h and that Paper Princess ending, uh uh.
I’m starting The Player tonight if you want to BR!
No, I’m hard on hs. I loved Caroline. To me she never felt over dramatic or weak.
I’m easier on books and genres than you all, lol.
Books with heroines I could not stand
F*ck Love
Twilight
Never Stop Falling
Taking Chances
Forever My Girl
Undeniable
Axel
Oh, and that one with the soda tabs, oh what was it called?
Those off the top of my head, lol
Caroline was awesome.
Jean I haven’t finished. I will tonight.
Hides from Jean.
The Love Letter Whiskey one? I did not like that h either.
FLT:
She was so small.
The Bird and the Sword by Amy Harmon
Finally out of my funk! 😀 I should have known fantasy would work.
I just didn’t like Deeper because of the writing. *hides*
I think I have Taking Chances on my TBR. Need to check! I’m usually pretty easy on h’s but Keri Ann continued to make some seriously disturbing decisions! A couple I can handle, but I need to BELIEVE the attraction, and they’d just met, so where is the immediate spark he sees in her? I tried to justify it in my head, but it wasn’t enough. I was OK with Bella because she was a hormonal teen and Edward was drawn to her for more than her personality lol. Cori, I wanted to kill at first, but she grew on me pretty fast, plus his attraction to her was ingrained since childhood, so it made sense to me. That’s one of the reasons I love friends to lovers, the chemistry goes deeper than the current MC’s actions.
Jean…I’m in a similar boat but my problem is I have NO idea what to move on to because of the state Everything You Want Me to Be left me in, and yet I NEED something to read right now.
*grumbles at Tessa for getting pulled out of her book funk*
Actually, I think I’m in book-rebound mode. I just want to stop the aching so I’m willing to read ANYTHING at this point. Wow. I feel sorry for whichever book I pick up. Poor rebound book *snort*
With Never Stop Falling I wanted them to take a new look at each other. Plus, I didn’t feel like we saw them in love as children.
But as an adult that character felt like she had a ton of anger and definitely some narcissism. It didn’t feel resolved at all with her dad and mom. I never saw why she was so sarcastic about her mom either.
My GR friends consist solely of people from here. *shrugs* It’s just the way it is for me.
Kudos to y’all who expand your friend circles on there though! 😀
Pick a book everyone said you’d hate. Or, honestly, if I hadn’t have found this one, I was going to re-read a book. Re-reading always gets me out of my funk.
I felt the love through the stories/memories, but it was more best friends love than romantic love. By the time they discovered the latter, it was too late (not the best way to put that but want to avoid spoilers). I loved the relationship she had with her mom, snark and all, but she was pretty tough on her dad. As a teen I think she held him responsible for her bad decisions and never really got over that.
Hmmm…that’s actually a tough one!
bev, the one with the soda tabs…..Collide by Gail McHugh??? I freaking loved that book!!! I haven’t read the Love Letter Whiskey one yet, but I do have it……I’m getting sick of the same old, same old.
Tess,The Bird and the Sword!!! Yes! You will love it!! I just got the Court of Thorn and Roses on sale for $1.99 and then saw Fabi’s low rating compared to everyone else’s high ratings??????? Why Fabi??
Amy, I have Everything You Want Me to Be ……what exact state did it leave you in??
Jean…it left me satisfied that everything came to light yet on the verge of tears (the kind where you *need* to cry but just…can’t) because by the end I really did care about Hattie and felt like I knew her, and I’m just so damn sad that she’s gone. Even though I knew she was from the beginning. Kind of like Forever Interrupted or Thirteen Reasons Why…which both killed me.
And Hattie was a book lover. How could you not love a character who describes reading like this:
“I became the main character in every book I read. I felt myself inside their skin, but it didn’t have anything to do with liking them or wanting to be them.”
I need a number between 1 and 373.
Wow, that it a great description Amy! How about 127? Let me know what it is – I’m in the midst of picking my next read too.
I actually meant to say 126 for today’s date, so let me know what both those numbers are for you!
Sheesh Jean, did you have to tell on me? I was keeping that one a big ‘ol secret. (on GR) hahahaha
GR friends are mostly people from here, with a couple of randoms that I have no clue why they friended me.
I loved A Court of Thorns & Roses. FABI? You didn’t like it?? WAAH. I love Sarah Maas. Great world building.
Eversea – well, it was like everyone else said… 3.5 – 4 stars for me. I think it was the hype that made me think it was going to be something really awesome, and nothing spectacular happened. Heroine was all mouthy and sassy, then weak? What the? If I were 18, and a huge Twilight nut, I’d probably put it on my top reads list too. Maybe that’s what happened? That’s how it ended up on that top 100 list?
Murmuration!?! Dyying to hear how you like that one R. Renee. I downloaded sample and was very very intrigued. Then decided to wait for someone else’s review before plunging in.
I don’t have a first line. I am in panic mode now. I don’t even know what I am in the mood for. Different. Just something different. Like Wolfsong different – something I haven’t already read 100 times.
Michelle have you read The Bird and the Sword? It’s pretty freakin awesome.
With Court of Thorn and Roses I just didn’t like the h (or her family). I got to 40% I’m not sure yet if it’s a GBL or a dnf
Amy, you might like that one too.
Sorry Fabi, I didn’t know it was a secret, but I was surprised!
MichelleS, I’m in that same mode. I will probably spend all night looking at books and reviews trying to figure out my next book.
I second Fabi on The Bird and the Sword……amazing book!
MichelleS, Murmuration is definitely Wolfsong different! I’m loving it so far, but I keep getting sucked away from it! It feels suited for that, I think. I can read a bit, go a way, then come back to it. It’s not like the book crack I’ve been reading; it’s one you savor.
Okay, The Bird and the Sword it is then. 😀
I looked up numbers 126 and 127 (thank you Jean!) and they were Virtue and Vanity by Astrid Jane Ray and Big Sky by Kitty Thomas. V&V was a “huh, maybe that’ll work” one but Big Sky made me say – out loud – “aw sh!t”…not kidding. 😛
Now I have to go look up Big Sky…
Yeah, that would be an “aw sh!t” ! Lol
Well, Kitty Thomas is an interesting read. Though I’m liking The Bird and the Sword so far. Obviously I’m not far, but it is engrossing.
I’ve got a big confession to make. With rare exception, I don’t care if the h or H is unlikeable at the beginning. For me it’s about the journey of the character growing and discovering themselves, becoming better through hardship. That said, yes. At 40% I thought she was weak, and I don’t think you are supposed to like her family at the beginning. lol
dang it Jean, now I have to go look it up hahahaha
If you’re in a book funk, try Wrecking Ball. It’s really good!
Lisa A. – great first line! You win today’s prize!
My FLT: ‘Well, look at that. Prince Charming. Malorie should have known she’d stumble over him the instant she set foot back in his kingdom.’ from A Crown of Bitter Oranges by Laura Florand. A sweet romantic CR set in lovely rural France. I’m enjoying it but it’s not her best IMO. A tad slow, although still good. My favs are The Chocolate Heart and The Chocolate Touch, both set in Paris. Florand writes gorgeous, big gruff sexy Hs really well. Those two books both have a sexy Frenchman falling for a girl from US. If you like sweet, hot, sexy, romantic, bit-of-angst-not-too-much you should try Laura Florand.
omg!!! oh…uhm…“aw sh!t”
Right??
******POSSIBLE SPOILER******
******YOU’VE BEEN WARNED******
And I remember “hearing” somewhere that she even ends up…er…getting milked. Like, by a milking machine. For the ranch hands to drink.
WTF. So of course I had to click it.
*gasp* YES!!!! I heard about that whole… er… “milking” thing. I wonder if I one-clicked that one already…
Jean and Fabi…you two totally just cracked me up. I needed that. 😀
Whoa. What possessed you to get that one Amy? “Aw sh!t!”
Ok. That answers my question! LMAO!
LOL R!! Because I was morbidly curious, I guess? 😛
I can only handle Kitty Thomas once a year or so though, and I read The Last Girl not too long ago. That one was…whoa. *blink blink*
I think we should see a raise of hands if anyone intends on reading this and if it’s a definite no, you should skim ahead and give us the goods…
*raises hand*
Oh, trust me…I’ll give y’all the goods when I do end up reading it. *snort*
WTAH Amy. That sounds just plain weird……. :-/
Yeah, but I think we’ve established that will be during the apocalypse! Fine. Just bring it to Fabi’s with your martini shaker and maybe a blender.
But I’m also weirdly curious too *slightly embarrassed grin*
OK Lisa and the other Aussies and I will have to meet up somewhere after the apocalypse and combine our saved books. Maybe with a blankie fort. Definitely with martinis 😀
Lol Amy, that does sound weird. And that’s the whole reason I went for She, the Kingdom too. Curiosity. I still laugh when it think about it sometimes. Like I looked at something completely naughty…hahaha. I’m so happy both you and Tessa are reading The Bird and the Sword!! I’m sure you’ll love it. And now I’m dying to read Everything You Want Me to Be!
Omg Any, I’m speechless….. leave it to Kitty Thomas.
Jan, I want to read Wrecking Ball, but the comparison to WoW scares me a little. I loved WoW, but slow burn is putting it mildly. It was totally at a snail’s pace!
And I just saw Preppy 2 ends with somewhat of a CH and need for next book asap…..I didn’t know there was going to be another one. *Sigh*
Jean have you read The Hating Game yet? That would be perfect to get you out of your funk!
I’ve read Bird & the Stone.
Back to the samples….
Hating Game eh? I’ll check out the sample…
LOL!!!! Big Sky has y’all in a tizzy!!!!! It’s kinda like when something is yucky to look at, and yet you can’t stop looking at it. You look at it, cringe, look away, then look at it again…and then you keep repeating the cycle!
Tasha…EYWMTB really is great. I wasn’t thrilled for a good portion with the sheriff’s POV but by the end I realized what a role it played in everything unfolding…and damn if he didn’t almost bring me to tears.
Heck, Kitty Thomas is usually that “I gotta know” author. So, *raises hand*. I did love her Submissive Fairy tales and Broken Dolls.
By the way, Bird and the Stone is a 2016 click so I’m still sticking with my resolution! 😀
I haven’t read The Hating Game yet….let me go check it out
Tessa…BR for Big Sky at some point? 😉
The Hating Game is the one I’m supposed to read with Emma Scott, but she dumped me for some book she’s writing. Rude 😉
LOL R. And I wanna read that book she’s writing!!!!
Hating Game is still super expensive on kindle :-/ Maybe my library will get it in??
Jean, yes, Wrecking Ball is another slow burn, but it didn’t drag at all for me. Interesting characters and plot. Well written. You could try the sample…….
I came in like a wrecking ball, I never hit so hard in love…
Aaaand that’s why I can’t read it, because I’m just picturing Miley C…
I don’t have Hating Game, but I did get Wrecking Ball free from NetGalley. I just can’t make a decision. And R just reminded that I want to read How to Save A Life!
Milking machine??? ACK. No way! Too much like an episode of Real Sex on HBO. Weird show.
I know! This TBR thing is getting stressful. I’m in the middle of Murmuration, but my book whisperer, Fabi says *The Player* so, The Player it is. But then I’m BR’ing “Danika something” with Leslie and whenever that Serengeti book comes out I need to read it in a bad way. I also have Confess coming in the mail and I need that for a little writing motivation–so all that is supposed to happen this month (week), and then there’s the PNR for February… Oy vey.
All I wanted was to break your walls, all you ever did was wre-e-eck me…
Oh AND I have the audible for How to Save a Life! Dying to listen to that because it will be my first audible, but no headphones :-/
I’m in for a BR of Big Sky if it’s anything like LoA. I like dark every once in a while. But if it turns out to be more heartbreaky than vomit inducing, I reserve the right to dnf. 😉
Ah sorry, I didn’t even think of price! I got that one in paperback from my library. And read it in like a day or 2 and I’m terrible with paperbacks, I can make them last for like a month usually. Lol. Maybe Fisher Amelie’s Penny in London? That one has everything, is super quick, and only 2.99! Another good one for funk lifting!
lol R – all that in the next five days huh? want some help? 😉
R, No rush on the Br, so don’t worry.
If there is anyone besides me & Robin who haven’t read Tristan & Danika series, we will be doing a BR soon.
So far, I am liking Deeper. 🙂 I have no issues with Caroline. I actually feel bad for her “situation”. Although I’ve been dubbed picky, I’m not with the MCs, it’s storyline I’m fussy about. If it’s slow/boring story, I can’t deal.
Amy, Big Sky sounds um……interesting. Wow!
I think I’m only one who didn’t LOVE The Hating Game. Dont get me wrong, I liked it, but not crazy for it like everyone else. Not to mention, it’s super expensive. Luckily I borrowed from library.
So….Jean the Whiskey one must be the wrong title.
Cause it was one you rec ‘ d to me.
Childhood sweethearts break up he goes to war and they write letters? That one. 2 authors.
Amy your number should of been #Simon. You don’t think you’ll like it anyway, so what’s to lose?
I remember when Michelle (not MichelleS – although MichelleS does it too) would pop in here and say Fabi! drop everything and read this now! lol I loved it. and always loved the books.
MichelleS, I can send some mm recs if you’re in the mood for that or you can glance through my mm shelf on GR
I started D & T sometime ago. Meant to go back, but not sure if that will be that soon.
Oh bev, that had to be A Lover’s Lament!
bev…
I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!!!!
*clears throat*
Anyways.
Yes, that’s the one!
I’m really loving Ove right now, honestly loving it. But, I’ve had a long darn week. And we’re remodeling our bathroom right now and it’s super stressful, like I can’t stop thinking about how I need to go pick out paint, vanity, mirrors, lighting, fixtures, a stinking toilet…gah!! And this all needs to happen by the end of the weekend. Picking things out is incredibly painful for me. I’ll text 3 different people pics of 7 different colors and still not be able to decide! And I’ll need a sitter. *huge sigh* So though I’m loving Ove, I feel I may not be in the mood to fully appreciate him at the moment and I want to soak that one up. I’m thinking of pausing and trying a Sophie Kinsella or doing a fantasy like Thorn. I need an escape!
Did you just Miley Cyrus me?
I’m not sure because my music taste is better than that.
*sticks tongue out*
However my reading taste. ….
I do want to read the book.
Ooooh.
Let us pick the color.
And thank you bev. You just reminded me of the 2 B.T. Urruela books I downloaded and want to read (he coauthored Lover’s Lament).
Wait, color?
It’s all your fault Fabi! No Leslie!
I can do this! I’m excited to start!
In response to Tasha having trouble making choices.
What we be wrong with letting a random group on the Internet decide what her bathroom looks like?
Yep, I did bev. 😛
*slides shot of Jager over to Tasha* I’m gettin’ stressed just reading that. I’ll bet it will be beautiful when it’s done though!
Incoming peanut ducking in 3…2…1… I read T&D and it was good… but didn’t rock my world. I can’t remember a thing from the story! Gah! Kill me now.
I did used to pop in like a crazy bandit & force books on people, didn’t I? Remember when I ranted about Wild Side? And Fae Chronicles? LOL. I haven’t pimped out Tairen Soul or Knights of Black Swan in ages!!
Alright, no more wrecking ball. That song has popped up in my head every time that book has come up. I honestly thought it was a decent song, just a crappy video.
Sure Amy. Though please not until March. lol I still need to buy the thing and her books are usually 5 dollars. Usually not so bad, but I went nuts this month. 😀 (I’m so happy I did!)
We will be waiting here with cookies.
Favorite pimping moments:
Fabi – Neanderthal Parrallax, and Clan of Cave Bear.
Bev – Simon vs HSA (of course) & WiR
Amy – T&D and Jennifer Amentrout novels
Dude you know Fabi totally looks like this when she starts pimping.
Omg MichelleS…I have done that quite a bit, haven’t I? LOL!!!
I’m bracing myself for bev’s picture of me pimping out my favorites…
OMG- I’m just *blink-blink* over that book Amy. Yes please update.
All My GR friends are from here or authors.
Fabi- so excited to hear that,I have The Player on my tbr already. Going to start it after I finish Cake.
FLT:
“On the morning of May 30th, 2014, I was just a twenty-three-year-old accounting student at Arizona State University enjoying the first weeks of summer break.” Cake: A Love Story by J. Bengtsson. Sorry can’t remember who recommended this, but so far I’m really enjoying it. The H is a rock star, but not your typical one because he has had a horrific event happen to him in his childhood.
awww MichelleS you’re making me feel nostalgic. I forgot what book pushers we used to be.
Bev, that’s my favorite pimp outfit.
Cheryl, that book description sounds good although the title doesn’t quite do it for me.
Tasha, I LOVE picking stuff like that out!
Jean, please let me know how the B.T. Urruela books go. Are they just his?
Ok, give it a shot! 🙂 I want it to kind of tie into the rest of the house a little. I’ve been pintresting but nothing is screaming at me just yet. The thing is is my house is very colorful. I like to think of it as eclectic. It sounds like a box of crayons, described, but I promise it looks nice (to me ;). My living room is like a maroon on two walls, gray on two. The kitchen top half is like a sea green, bottom half is like a dark green with bright orange shutters hanging on one wall, the hallway from there is blue, with one small wall where it connects to the kitchen, bottom half the same dark green. I have these African baskets hanging in the living room on the maroon wall that have basket color (lol) and these stripes of orange, blue, fushia, yellow, and green. That kind of sums up the color scheme I think. And the staircase and upstairs hallway is the same gray (with a couple pops of color of pic frames) which leads to the bathroom we’re redoing. On either side of this are bedrooms espresso and sand colors, they’re pretty tame. My problem is I don’t want to over do it with the color. But I also don’t want to make it too neutral or I don’t think it will fit? I thought of just using the dark green from the kitchen but then I thought it would be too green. And I don’t think I want to go too bright either. Like I don’t want the whole bathroom bright yellow. It’s too much. I was considering this really pretty teal/dark blue but thought it might be too much. Then I thought Oh that would be pretty with like a white beedboard on the bottom half. But I can’t do that or my hubs will kill me bc I made him remove half the wall to replace with drywall and I know he’ll say he could have just covered it up instead. Lol Ahh!!
ummm, I like picking out the tile, fixtures, vanities, etc. Wall color and decorating? Not so much. :-/
Well the tile is white-ish. I didn’t have to pick that out thank goodness bc it was leftover from my parents remodel. I was thinking of a vanity with a warm wood and darker top but color really plays into that too. I’m breaking into a sweat just thinking about it! Lol
Tasha, go with a lighter shade of the gray you used in the living room. Keep it fairly neutral because the rest or the house is so colorful, then accent the heck out of it with your colors, towels, accessories. One really big oversized painting. I’d keep the vanity/fixtures fairly neutral too.
We had a time picking out a “neutral” tan for our kitchen. It took us about 10 samples to find the one because of the lighting. Most of them looked like a hospital in the sunlight! I ended up with something that wasn’t even really tan, but looked that way on the walls! I had to go with neutral in there because we had black counters and painted tile art on the back splash. and saltillo which is loud.
Start mixing some enutrals in with the color if you think it’ll be overwhelming. Also, anything you get you’ll probably keep the color scheme in mind. Don’t forget, there are many shades of yellow. There are some that are light or warm that won’t be an annoying bright color. Like, TONS of shades of yellow. If you want to continue the green, a soft yellow would work as a “neutral” color without being annoying.
If you want to go teal/ blue, again, neutrals can go with it. Especially sand! Total beach theme. Or else, a light grey. Both are beachy.
Oooh, Tasha, the teal color sounds pretty.
Amy, im afraid I do not have that many pimp references. When I saw your comment the first thing that came to mind is this.
*shrug *
Wine and keyboards don’t mix, bev.
LOL and not you drinking and typing, but me drinking and spitting. I should clarify…
You could go Manny grey.
Teal sounds pretty.
A strong color could be cool too.
https://hookedonhouses.net/2013/11/18/looking-up-melissas-powder-room-makeover/
Lol.
R, it’s from the movie Keanu.
Oh yeah! bev reminded me. Check out Houzz.com too!
Alright, since the subject of cats came up, I’m the black cat and bev is the light one…and this is me trying to hug her:
Yep! That’s you guys!
Thanks a lot bev. Go ahead and give cute pimp kitty to Amy. See if I care.
Amy!!! bahahabahaha love that cat gif!!!!!!! Yes! That’s you guys.
Hmmm. I like your gray rec R. And Tessa I like your thoughts on mixing the neutrals with color. And the bold color too Bev, maybe on one wall. I will probably be pintresting like crazy the next 24-48 hrs. Lol. I need visuals. I looked up Moroccan bathrooms, eclectic, gray, colorful, all sorts and I’m getting lots of ideas! It’s still overwhelming but I need something not too traditional either. I’m not getting new towels so that accessory color idea is out, but maybe I could do the mirror or the cabinet doors or knobs or towel hooks or a rug, OR a tile backslash behind the vanity!
We’re doing the downstairs one next year too, I’m just going to match them both so I don’t have to go through this again. Years from now I plan on painting my kitchen cabinets bc they don’t go. At all. With anyone’s kitchen. Lol. And this is my inspiration:

I love all of your designer talk guys. My EXACT style almost to the T but I’m just a tiny bit less “shabby chic” are Chip and Joanna’s designs. All of her neutral colors, her special touches, her “raw” materials, tons of glass and pretty flowers and CLEVER uses of antiques and farmhouse things… mixed in with contemporary style. She is my DREAM designer.
One of my favorite things she did once was make an entire kitchen backsplash out of antique road pavers from Chicago or something like that. Each one was a bit chipped and weathered, and had different markings that made it so unique and priceless, to me.
Guess what’s worse than reading YA PNR? Listening to your daughter explain too you in full detail YA PNR. I mean I guess I should be happy she’s reading but…no, no I think I’d rather her go back to watching CSI.
FLT; “Moments. Humans always remember the moments.” Silent Waters.
Oh the feels already!!!!
Tasha I agree with the gray wall color. It will flow from the stairs and you want your bathroom to be serene and relaxing. Pick up some of your other house colors with towels and accessories- pictures, candles, rug. Dark wood vanity, white top to go with tile and brushed nickel fixtures. Maybe a funky chandelier to tie in with your eclectic house.
Fabi- the title didn’t do it for me either, but I kinda get it now after reading what it means, but I agree the author could have named it better.
Kinda reminds me of your description of The Player–>”This dreamy love story does not match the title…”
I was thinking the same thing Cheryl. 🙂
Amy I’d never be so violent, lol.
Plus, not sure this isn’t how you hug.

Ok, I decided to stick with Ove since I’m already almost halfway and I did wait forever for it to come it. I’ll jump into one of the others right after. You know what it has me thinking about though? I just teared up and everything. But it makes me think of the movie Up so far! *sniffle* It has its funny parts, and heartbreaking parts, and heartwarming parts. I hope the rest is just as good!
Thanks for your input Cheryl!! You guys really are helping take a load off my shoulders with all your ideas, thank you so much!!
Tasha, love how you are not afraid of color. Used to watch this designer on HGTV because like to see what color and patterns she’d use.
https://hookedonhouses.net/2014/03/04/taupe-no-more-sarah-richardsons-colorful-house/
Omg Bev, I saved that link. Those rooms are gorgeous! That’s what I kind of went for here, though maybe not quite as pretty. It’s a work in progress! I dk that I’ve always been unafraid of this bold color though. We just got this house a couple years ago and almost every room HAD to be painted before I could live here. The living room color was literally poop brown. I can’t remember the rest but it was just as horrendous. I had brought home stacks of paint color options and books and one was kind of like that link you shared. And while I showed my Mom all the sage greens and neutral beiges, bc I couldn’t decide how to mesh everything still, I looked at that book and said I wish I was able to do something like this. It speaks to me. So she said let’s do it then. And she wrote which room to use each color and I didn’t have to decide anything really. Lol
Jean – Wrecking Ball …definitely not a snails
Not a snails pace for me!
Amy. V&V was a 4.5 – 5 for me! It has some triggers …not for the faint of heart….
Tasha J – colors are good!
Happy Australia Day Jan!! Hope you had a quintessentially Australian day….sea, sunshine and good company.
Just read Roommates. It was OK but on the back of Egomaniac probably wasnt unputdownable.
Bev My GR friends are all from here too plus a couple of extra randoms who are friends of friends.
I am definitely the weirdo stranger that likes other people’s reviews and comments on GR. *shrugs*
First line Friday:
‘Sometimes I closed my eyes and tried to remember what it felt like to live in luxury.’
The Player
Claire Contreas
Cant remember who commented about The Hating Game and cant be bothered scrolling thru 200 plus comments…but I floved that book. One of the best from last year. So witty. And who doesnt love enemy to lovers! Reminded me of Bennett and Chloe (Beautiful Bastard).
Wreaking Ball! So good. Slow burn that gave me tummy flutters. I think I liked it better than WoW which says sooooooooo much!
So I’m late to the party – but let me know when you guys are going to read Big Sky…because I haven’t even read the blurb and you’re making me add it to my TBR. You guys are evil…pure concentrated, do not add water, kind of evil!!!
Is it Friday yet? Can it please be Friday?
Bev, I LOVE Sarah Richardson!! Would FLOVE for her to come decorate my house!! Is she still on tv?
It’s Friday!!! Fabi, I’m reading Into the Nothing by B.T. Urruela – – so far so good! It is written only by him. The other one is Wicked Little Words which he co-authored with Stevie J. Cole.
Okay, I guess I can be persuaded to buddy read Big Sky….let me know when that happens!
I think Wrecking Ball will be next with all these people screaming at me to read it!! LOL!!!!!
I can’t even think about Maryse’s Friday Bargain list right now…..I must resist the need to 1-click!!!!
YEP IT’S FRIDAY FABI!!! 😀 Well, not a Friday for me since I have to fill in for someone tomorrow (at least I got yesterday off though) but it should be slowwwww today so yay me!
Holy moly, are we going to be having a Big Sky BR?!? That’s awesome!! *happy wiggle dance*
Holy crap! It really is Friday! ha!!! I thought today was Thursday and I was wishing so bad it was Friday. Wishes come true!!!
All day yesterday I thought it was Wednesday (even with FLT) and I was bummed it was already Thursday!
Cheryl, I don’t know. I always liked the show when she and her assistant would fix up a house a room at a time.
I love how she mixes prints.
Bev, I saw she has a couple books out and my local B&N has them. Going to go look at them and probably buy them!!! 🙂
Maryse, Emma’s??? I’ve only seen a few beta chapters, but so far, I love it. LOVE it. You know how obsessed I am, and I’ve swooned harder in these few draft chapters than any previous book!! Soooooo freaking excited!!
R. You’re killing me!!! OMG!!! I want it!!!!!
Cheryl, they are probably gorgeous. Gah, makes me want to watch her show again. She lives in Canada and is probably $$$ but one of those if I won the lottery and bought my dream home for a dream designer.
Maryse, I admire people that can reuse and refinish things like that.
I remember when I first started seeing people use old barn doors as those hanging sliding doors. Would never of thought of that.
You guys crack me up.
Hey, there’s 3 Lisas commenting up there! WTH! I presume all different people? Aussie Lisa, I did have a great Australia Day with my family. We had the traditional BBQ lunch then a Salted Chocolate Tart from Nigella Lawson’s new cookbook that someone gave me for Christmas. A new family fav. Yummmmmmm. Hope you had a lovely day too, Lisa 😀
