BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! THIS JUST WENT LIVE & IT SOUNDS SO GOOD!!! A Change In Tide (Northern Lights Book 1) and it’s super-bargain priced today! SHE’S RECLUSIVE and he’s her new neighbor… ➔➔➔➔

“For Mia, a crowded subway ride changes her entire life. Retreating to the wilderness helps her cope with a world that is suddenly too loud, too turbulent. Her existence safely contained to the small cottage on the lake, she is unprepared for the neighbor that moves across the bay…”

Happy NEW RELEASE DAY!!! And it’s a happy start to May!! Take a look at all of these choices (including a few sequels to HIGHLY-devoured series), like that one to the left! *waggles eyebrows* :D

I’m still reading (and LOVING) The Gravity of Us, but of course, there are a few on here that are making my one-clicker twitch (mind you, Gravity is just too good to squirrel from). I LOVE when that happens!

But in the meantime, take a look at some that gave me a blurb jolt: Dating the Undead (she joins a vampire dating site when she gives up on human men. Tee hee!!), Sex in the Sticks (she wants a “manly-man” so she goes to Alaska and meets a cop that she finds so charmingly “backward” *snort* and Jean is LOVING it), Pipe Dreams (HOCKEY STAR broke her heart, and I love this author!), A Journey for Truth (this one just sounds eerie and dark… a dark romance? YIKES! But I’m so curious), Toxic (M/M that is already breaking my heart… he’s in love with his best friend who is abusive to him), Haven of Swans (BLURB JOLT!!!! Serial killer thinks he’s ridding the world of evil).

Yep… it’s a good day indeed. Let’s READ!!! :D

P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

I recently discovered Taylor Jenkins Reid (I read MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE) and now I’m obsessed. Her books are so heartfelt and so smart! Thanks for the heads up about the sale – off to one click that bad boy now. I haven’t read THE GRAVITY OF US yet, but considering the hype it’s getting, I may pick it up, too. Great start to a great reading month!

Tasha J May 2, 2017 at 2:07 PM

One True Loves, Sex in the Sticks, Haven of Swans, Dating the Undead, The Killing Flower, Broken Bay: A Novel….ah what a list, I feel like the room might be spinning! Who’s reading A Court of Wings and Ruin so I can live vicariously through you?? And gosh, next week I’m so looking forward to The Queen and the Cure, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, and The Light We Lost…A few weeks from now there’ll be even more goodies out and I’ll be clumsily trying to catch up as much as I can. AND then it’ll be summer break so of course the kids will want to go to the pool and the park and this sport practice/game, that sport practice/game, camp, vacations, barbecues, family boating trips, grad parties, yada, yada, yada. And I can finally read when…when…hmmmm
LoL, I’m not overwhelmed or stressed at all.

bev May 2, 2017 at 3:08 PM

Ok, you know what we need?

A Read a Book in a Day day.

We pick a date on a Saturday or Sunday and it is our Read a Book in a Day day.

Get your snacks and drinks. Pick a book and go.

Tell husband to take the children the only people you are talking to is here about the book you are reading.

Sort of a moderate 24 hour marathon.

Cheryl May 2, 2017 at 4:29 PM

So many interesting one’s up there I need to check out.

Has anyone noticed with their kindle app on their computer that from one page to the next it’s repeating sentences? Thought it was just an editing issue with the book I was reading, but it’s happened with the last two also. When I read with my Kindle Cloud reader it doesn’t have the duplicate sentences problem.

Have fun R!!!!

MichelleS May 2, 2017 at 5:14 PM

Soooooo many good ones up there! I have too many to pick from right now. What a problem to have!

Read a book in a day? I kinda did that yesterday! Book fog!

Tasha J May 2, 2017 at 7:06 PM

A book in a day, huh? What is this witchcraft you speak? I’ll shoot for the 20 or 21st this month, though it’s iffy weather it works or not.

Tasha J May 2, 2017 at 8:02 PM

-whether. *sigh* I should just go to bed now. :P

D.G. May 2, 2017 at 8:09 PM

Tasha J May 2, 2017 at 8:25 PM

Just checked out the sample for Dating the Undead and already eliminated 1 off my list, didn’t work for me at all. Which I guess is a good thing, considering.

Nay May 2, 2017 at 8:36 PM

Mother’s Day is the 14th. I know that means a busy day for some, but for me, it’s the perfect Sunday for me to chill and read a book in a day! Great idea, bev!

Grey May 2, 2017 at 8:47 PM

I did the read a book in a day thing a couple weeks ago…It was the best day! I am totally in for whenever I can squeeze it. Sundays are usually better for me.

Cheryl May 2, 2017 at 9:39 PM

Mother’s Day sounds like a good book reading day!!

R. Renee May 2, 2017 at 10:14 PM

Who the heck is Stu? I found RK Lilley, but long lines and claustrophobia are not good for me, so I didn’t get to meet her yet. Anyone know KAS on GR? I hung out with her all night! Now I must write, clean my room, iron my clothes, and read…

bev May 2, 2017 at 10:16 PM

Jan May 2, 2017 at 10:47 PM

Mega squeeeee. I just checked Lauren Gilley’s fb page again (cos I’m hanging out for the release of American Hellhound some time this month!) and she has announced her next book after that will be the first in a new series. The series is Sons of Rome and the book will be White Wolf, hopefully out in ‘late summer’ (this year!). Check this, ladies: ‘Dark, gritty, Gothic, and epic, the Sons of Rome series is a paranormal/supernatural/horror series with a big cast of lovable, complicated characters.’

Squeeeeeeeeeee. *runs out of breath, dies*

I am so excited for you R. How cool to be around all those authors?? Cool that you hung with KAS. I see her comments all the time. I hope you are taking lots of pics to share and networking for yourself too.

Jan May 3, 2017 at 7:23 AM

Sounds really great R. Enjoy every moment.

MichelleS May 3, 2017 at 9:23 AM

Jan – all you had to say was “Lauren Gilley” and “new book” – I’m sold. She is one of my favorite new authors. Loved the heck out of Datrmoor.

I caved. I started A Court of Wings and Ruin last night. I have so many others lined up, but moved it to the front of the list because…. well… BECAUSE it’s the next in the series and RHYS and…. Fae… and betrayal and war looming and 707 pages…. I’m just kind of a mess right now. It’s like crack to me this kind of thing. I might need to call in sick.

Tasha J May 3, 2017 at 9:50 AM

Yay, Michelle! Keep us updated, please. I put Sarah J Mass books off until I can devote all my time and attention to the story. It stays with me for so long after too so I have to allow for that.

Grey May 3, 2017 at 10:08 AM

Talked to Robin this am, she’s good… She’s got a workshop today. I want to go to one of these so bad!

Maryse, peer pressure! You need to have another book bash! I promise I will finish my book and you can have it! Just so we can all hang out and do all these fun sorts of things together!

Tessa May 3, 2017 at 10:10 AM

I’m getting that today, Michelle! I just have to read a library book, Snared, first. It’s a one time only borrow because it’s new.

R, Rachel Van Dyken’s husband does modeling for a lot of books. I saw on her facebook page that he showed up for yesterday only, because their son had a thing today that he needed to be at. Also, OMG, so jealous right now. :D I seriously hope next years doesn’t coincide with my niece’s wedding. Cause, as much as I want to go to RT, my niece wins. (she’s more like a little sister/ best friend to me than niece :D )

Next year will be in Reno. That’s only four hours from here.

bev May 3, 2017 at 1:05 PM

I didn’t realize Reno was still a thing.

Tessa May 3, 2017 at 1:32 PM

Reno is like the cheap version of Vegas from what I’ve heard. I’ve honestly never been. I’ve only been to Vegas. When I was in S. CA, it was just closer. Orange to Vegas is also a four hour drive, depending on traffic.

R. Renee May 3, 2017 at 1:36 PM

Just took a design class with Staci Hart, Kandi Steiner, Nikki Sloane, & Veronica Larsen. So awesome! Now I’m in a self pub class with Rachel Van Dyken. :D

Ela May 3, 2017 at 1:52 PM

Sounds like you’re having a blast Robin! Keep enjoying and be careful! Those authors do not handle their liquor quite well…LOL

Nay May 3, 2017 at 4:57 PM

Wow, Robin! That’s awesome!

FYI–The Pact by Karina Halle ebook is free on Amazon

Tessa May 3, 2017 at 8:28 PM

Muahaha, Court of Wings and Ruin is mine, as is Wicked Abyss.

However, I have these library books that only have a one borrow option so I have to read those first. :/ The latest Jennifer Estep book, Snared, is PREDICTABLE! The only reason I didn’t DNF it was because I wanted to know the why. That’s it. All the rest I figured out way before the end. GRRR.

bev May 3, 2017 at 9:00 PM

I will admit if I was in Florida I would play hooky from Book Bash and go buy a wand instead and then try and see a manatee.

Sorry.

No…..I wouldn’t really be sorry.

bev May 3, 2017 at 9:07 PM

So what is everyone doing?

What are we talking about?

Who are we talking about? Fabi?
I’ve heard she’s a nudist.

Tessa May 3, 2017 at 9:12 PM

I’d say I’d get a wand, but I have one. I’d get a robe. I’m not sure if it’d be a Slytherin or Ravenclaw robe, but I’d get a robe. (I keep getting sorted into Slytherin, but everyone who knows me thinks I’m Ravenclaw).

bev May 3, 2017 at 9:22 PM

On the website I was put into Ravenclaw but I was sure I’d be Hufflepuff.

Cheryl May 3, 2017 at 9:36 PM

R- Rachel Van Dyken and her husband are on the cover of her book Capture.

bev May 3, 2017 at 9:46 PM

Anti social thought.

Could you imagine if all the lurkers decided to chat? I mean if there are a lot of lurkers, not just us. I know a ton read the blog but not necessarily the comments. How many comments that could be? I’m not sure it would be as fun. Plus, the new ones all seem to be getting younger and I’m pretty sure that I’m getting older.

R. Renee May 3, 2017 at 9:48 PM

Oh help me lawd…

bev May 3, 2017 at 10:09 PM

What’s wrong?

Tessa May 3, 2017 at 10:24 PM

I used my other email to redo the site’s sorting, and yet again, Slytherin.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!! The Knight by BB Reid is LIVE! *squeeeee*

I now have three books I want to read really, really badly. Court of Wings and Fury, Wicked Abyss, and The Knight.

Tessa May 4, 2017 at 9:12 AM

FLT:
The painting was a lie.
The Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

FLT’s Prologue flashback:
The buzzing flies and the screaming survivors had long since replaced the beating wardrums.

*squees*

Amy May 4, 2017 at 1:21 PM

WHEW!! I have a few seconds to actually breathe so I can finally get caught up on what y’all have been up to around here!

Oh, and to check out which books I’ll be clicking from the fabulous list up there. ;)

Amy May 4, 2017 at 1:47 PM

bev…you come up with the best ideas.

I need some help picking a book for my FLT, ladies. I need a number between 1 and 707 for my 2014 read.

Leslie M May 4, 2017 at 2:02 PM

Amy, 79

Leslie M May 4, 2017 at 2:06 PM

Anti-social Thoughts….by Bev. *grins*

Bev, I’m thinking if all the lurkers decided to comment all at same time, it would be like a blog flashmob. ;)

Leslie M May 4, 2017 at 2:18 PM

FLT:

Three minutes after the plane took off from the runway, FBI Special Agent John Shepherd knew he ws doomed if he didn’t act immediately.

The Thing About Love by Julie James (listening to this one)

The third time I see him, twelve years after that hot, sticky night in July, he’s kissing Jayne.

53 Letters for my Lover by Leylah Attar

Amy May 4, 2017 at 2:33 PM

Number 79…For All You Have Left by Laura Miller. She’s the one who wrote Butterfly Weeds so YAY!! :D

FLT:
“Only two things about that afternoon stick out to me—two things that I don’t think I’ll ever forget.” ~ For All You Have Left by Laura Miller

Amy May 4, 2017 at 2:34 PM

Leslie…I loved, loved, LOVED 53 Letters!!

Amy May 4, 2017 at 2:34 PM

Shaydahhhhh…

*sigh*

bev May 4, 2017 at 2:38 PM

I know, Amy.

*whispers*

What idea?

Amy May 4, 2017 at 3:54 PM

bev…the Read a Book in a Day day idea. Love it.

Jessica…we LOVE Taylor Jenkins Reid around here so you’re in good company. ;)

Cheryl May 4, 2017 at 4:33 PM

Finished The Gravity of Us. Good, but damn that was a slow-burn. Not sure what will be my FLT. Gonna look at above list and my tbr…

MichelleS May 4, 2017 at 4:57 PM

My FLT is same as Tessa’s!!! A Court of Wings & Ruin! SQUEEEEEE!!! Just want to savor it. Pace myself. Then my library loan for Red Queen comes in! Oh no!!! Gasp! No savoring now..

Maryse May 4, 2017 at 6:29 PM

That’s why I love featuring some of our best chats, and/or single comments, bev. We are awesome at books, here. And if anyone missed these comments, it would be a travesty. ;)

P.S. I said travesty. Now I miss Travis. :P

Maryse May 4, 2017 at 6:32 PM

And she wears Depends, bev. I heard it.

Maryse May 4, 2017 at 6:33 PM

How ’bout instead, bev, you come to Book Bash AND stay at my place since I am in Manatee CENTRAL. Seriously. Where I live is the wild manatee hub. :) ‘Cause we’re cool like that. :P

Maryse May 4, 2017 at 6:35 PM

Grey!

Or we can just hang out anyway!!! :D Yeah? ;)

Jan May 4, 2017 at 6:36 PM

FLT:
Darcy Turner fidgeted uncomfortably in the stiff waiting room guest chair, flicking her eyes to her wrist.

from It’s You Book 1 by Katy Regnery. A pnr. It seems to be about a wolf shifter, but I’m 30% in and nobody’s shifted yet. :( Just lots of hints and clues and mystery. I’m a little bit bored, actually. Something’s gotta happen soon!

Maryse May 4, 2017 at 6:43 PM

Tasha, me too. I’m collecting each one…

Maryse May 4, 2017 at 7:18 PM

bev I like the read-a-book-in-a-day… day idea! And Saturday would be MY best day for that. Should we?

Who’s in?

bev May 4, 2017 at 7:43 PM

Maryse on one hand I’m thinking how sweet you are while on the other I’m thinking don’t invite strangers home from the Internet.
Not only is it dangerous but potentially socially awkward.

Imagine if you got kidnapped and they had to assemble all the suspects:
FABI depends wearing nudist.
ELA dominatrix who doesn’t have an inside voice
AMY the sixteen year old boy pretending to be an adult woman who licks tatoos
TESSA she is Slytherin

bev May 4, 2017 at 7:44 PM

I’m in it just has to be on the weekend.

Leslie M May 4, 2017 at 8:10 PM

Another suspect: Bev, the anti-social comedian who hates Kellan.

bev May 4, 2017 at 8:26 PM

Which one of us would be Keyser Soze?

Nay May 5, 2017 at 5:51 AM

I’m in!…for read-a-book-in-a-day, NOT to be Keyser Soze.
