You missed Romancing the Billionaire by Jessica Clare. I’ve been waiting for this one!
Hi,
Doesn’t matter if your “late” you ALWAYS come thru and always have thw BEST lists!!!THANK you!!! Worth the waist! 🙂
I picked up one new release today Blamed by Edie Harris. Really liked her Wild Burn. Other than that I don’t see any I need right now, which is kind of a relief.
Also grabbed two sale books Tapestry thanks to the Michelles and Queen of the Tearling. I have seen it rec’d and it has already been optioned for a movie. I checked it out but didn’t get around to it, so grabbing it now.
Oh, and ditto what Michelle said.
I bought Nocte by Courtney Cole and was absolutely captivated from the very first page. Heck even the forward had me wiggling in anticipation. The story was AMAZING! I didn’t want to put it down, I was dying to find out the secrets…oooooh the secrets!! Didn’t see them coming, I guessed and guessed and just when I thought I knew, nope not quite! I felt so connected to the characters and all the emotions.. I don’t want to give anything away because it’s best to go in completely blind. This was the first book I have read in so long that I didn’t skip anything, not even a little…I can’t wait for #2, but I’m also satisfied with the ending. You must read this book! 😀
Does anyone know if A Bad Man-Joey (A Bacelli Crime Family Book 1) by Jenika Snow is a standalone or cliffhanger?
Night Fever is SOOOOO good!!! I was skeptical about the storyline, but there is so much dimension and depth to the characters and when the time comes for Beau to proposition Lola, it’s actually totally believable. And so, so freaking hot.
I’m loving Fighting the Fall!! So good!! I also read Nocte and agree with Tasha….the secrets….it definitely sucks you in!!
‘Among The Echoes’ by Ali Martinez is on sale price of $ 0.99. Whoever has not read this one now is the chance to grab this wonderful book with Alpha male.
Finished. I liked it but have to say I think Finn was the most interesting.
One other thing for those who may read it. Stay away from spoilers at all cost. It is definitely a book you want to go into completely blind.
Is that nocte bev ur talking about? Was it good?
One more day ’till Pull. 🙂 Does anyone know if it’s the conclusion or just a continuation?
Shell, thanks for that info….I 1-clicked it!
50% into Nocte….. tons of theories…..I agree bev, Finn is quite interesting!
Fabi, I hope it’s the conclusion. I don’t want to wait for another book! I’m so ready for Pull though!!!
Laura it is Nocte. I don’t want to say too much. I had some problems while reading. MichelleS touched on them, but thinking on it they really make sense. I did like it. I like those books or movies that you throw theories at.
I mentioned it twice before but liked the gothic touches perfect for this time of year. I’d say read it, totally blind. In the beginning I was even trying to guess what sub genre it was, lol.
I’ll say it once more. Go in blind. I’m one who I’d spoiled all the time and reads reviews but with this I did not. I’m so glad because I think I would have lost something in the reading if I was trying to figure it out before I opened the book.
I finished Push last night and so so ready Pull! I think I need a light rom com after this though. Maybe Neaderthal Seeks Human?
I might have to read it now bev I don’t know what to read I’ve just finished riot by Jamie begley for a light read after sociopath cause that was screwed up lol now I don’t know what I feel like reading 🙁
Tracy that was a great read quite funny I loved all the others in the series to especially beauty and the moustache
Spanked By the Bad Boy <——- *snicker*
I've never read any of the Mara Dyer books…does anyone have any input about them? I was wondering if they are worth the price…
Halfway through Nocte and I want to loan Finn my stuffed manatee. 🙁 I'm hoping to start Push this evening…I can't let you ladies have all of the fun of Pull without me tomorrow!! 😀
Totally off topic, but I had to share with you ladies the best costume we saw on Halloween night. A lady was dressed as Michonne from Walking Dead complete with a sword (she was *beautiful* and her dreads were real!), and she was holding a rope that was tied to her daughter who was made up as a – you guessed it – zombie!!!
Amy I still can’t believe u haven’t read that yet!!
Has anyone read RL Mathewsons pyte/sentinel series? I’m just about to start book 1.
We have a uk holiday here tonight it’s bonfire/guy fox night tonight!! Lots of fireworks to let off yay!
Laura- I liked book 1 of Pyte series. Book 2 kind of made me angry. Book 3 was good. I have not read book 4 yet. It’s in my tbr pile.
I know, Laura! I’ve been tied up with EIT and Nocte, but I’m hoping to start Push this evening.
I have to remind my husband of your holiday! He used to be on the bomb squad, and they often used an effegy of GF on their things (’cause of the relation between dismantling bombs-foiling GF’s plot ;)).
Here ya go, Laura!
https://greatestdrink.blogspot.com/2010/11/guy-fawkes.html
66% of Nocte and I have so many guesses as to what is going on.. Need. To. Finish.
Hi Maryse. A huge thanks for all that you do! I’ve been a loyal fan and follower since 3453 (my facebook follower #) ha! Congrats on having over 40K! So – I’m hoping to ask a favor…any chance you could somehow make a note of the books that are available on Kindle Unlimited? I don’t know, a little cabbage patch smiley face, dollar sign, or even a little star? Obviously I can’t even imagine how much time it takes to compile a list like this, so only if it is something that is easy- I would squee like crazy!
Hugs!!
Missy
Oh yay Amy thank you!! Although the night didn’t go as planned we set of one firework and my 1yr old freaked so that was that lol poor thing she did not like them at all!! There’s that many going off just now it’s like being bombed with the noise! So push tomorrow? I can’t wait to hear what u thought of it I was kinda bad of mixed about it it was a great storyline and CH but I dunno I didn’t click big with it but I liked it enough!
Thanks k I’ve only read about 3 pages so far so will give it a go!
I wondered about Pull too, so I contacted the author, Claire Wallis and she said, “Pull completes this storyline, and at this point, there is no plan for a book 3.”
I’m starting Push as soon as I finish Dust to Dust. Had to stop at 60% because had some appointments and I’m dying, OMG I can’t believe what has happened and let me just say NO,NO, NO, it can’t end this way!!!!
Thanks for that info on Pull Cheryl…. That makes me feel better. Can’t imagine where it’s going…..
Cheryl is that the last book? Oh man. That’s not good. Hmmm…..
Jean- can’t wait to start it.
Bev, yeh it’s the last book but, I’m only at 60%, so hopeful…
I was going to start Push today but waiting. I need a little lighter read after Nocte and I know Push is not that. Maybe tomorrow or the weekend. Maybe read them back to back. *shrug*
That’s awesome, Amy. I saw WAY too many Rick’s & Daryl’s on Halloween. Was the kid supposed to be one of Michonne’s “pets”?
Cheryl thank you sooooo much for finding that out about Pull!!!
You’re welcome Fabi!! 🙂
Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap…I think I know what is going on in Nocte. I *think*. Oh man… 😕
And yes, Lauren, the little girl/zombie was supposed to be one of her “pets” complete with the rope around her neck…*loosely* around her neck. 😉
Just finished Nocte…..damn…..
Right?! Some of the aspects I was meh about make sense @ the end and I was throwing out theories the whole time. I sort of had it figured out.
Jean did you click on the link at the end of the book, it is to help choose what comes next. Not sure it made sense but fun.
One other thing did your book have pictures in the journal entries?
Ooh, the pictures…did you guys get a little “error” picture instead of whatever it was supposed to be? All that showed for me was a tiny black camera with a red exclamation mark. ??????
Me too, Amy. So I was curious as to what you & Jean saw. Make sure when done you keep going cause like I said a link. It was the pictures here that made me wonder if that was to be part of book. It seemed weird for them to insert the camera on purpose.
Just finished Dust to Dust the last book in the Experiment in Terror series. What a wild ride. I loved it and Karina Halle is such a great writer. Looking forward to reading Love, in Spanish when it comes out on the 11th.
Now, I’m not sure if I want to start Push, which I think will be another mind f**ck, or maybe something light and funny, like Dirty Rowdy Thing. I think my brain needs a break…
Well I checked in to see what you all thought of Nocte but I’m not getting a clear impression? It has like 49/60 5 star reviews but you all sound less than enthused…
Right now I’m reading the Bella Jewel Jokers’ Wrath series to get caught up to Anguish and I really like it!
So…. Nocte…. hmmmm…. 3.5 stars??? I don’t know. I had a lot of problems with it. The overall writing, for one. I ended up skimming at the end just to get on with it. Never a good sign. It dragged. The unfolding of events and the dialogue were just off for me. That shocker ending didn’t make up for he journey it took to get there. Didn’t live up to the level of writing we’ve experienced from other authors. Even the “love scenes” didn’t do it for me. Not at all. Sorry…….. I’m with Bev on this one.
I did click the link at the end of the book. No pics for me either…. Just the camera icon with exclamation point. I really did like the book. I had tons of theories as I was reading it which kept me flipping the pages!
Michelle – Bella Jewel’s Joker’s Wrath…. that’s her MC Club series? Any good? I think I could use a good alpha dude in an MC club about now. Either that or maybe Smiley’s story from New Species Series. Anything to recover from the “meh” that was Nocte.
But damn $7.59 for Dirty Rowdy Thing?!!!! *crosses arms and pouts*
I think I liked it slight more than MichelleS but probably same 3.5 or 3.75.
I love stories, usually movies, that are like a puzzle and I’m throwing guesses about. I was feeling meh about a certain part but like I said it fits when I had all the answers. My favorite was Finn. He was were my head and heart wanted to be. No skimming for me but places where I was tempted.
MichelleS I like the series so far but I’m only on the first one…even though I already bought all three…whoops my 1-click finger slipped! I heard Anguish (book 3) was so great and I bought that one thinking it was stand alone. A couple people recommended you read them in order so I went back to the first book and so far glad I did.
That’s disappointing about Nocte – I put it on my borrow list instead since I still want to read it eventually.
Girls! If you’re in the mood for a really good MM read, I highly recommend Amy Lane’s newest one ‘Beneath the Stain’. I finished it yesterday and I can’t stop thinking about them. I keep rereading sections. This books couple may have trumped Pete and Ash from ‘Slide’ and ‘Rare’ as my favorite couple.
Michelle I’d maybe wait and see if goes on sale when #2 comes out. See if on sale.
Cheryl I admire your speed reading and discipline. So overall you liked the series? I’ve looked at that series but yeah that’s a lot of $.
On side note I mentioned the gothic aspect with Nocte and am wondering if new again trend. Haven’t read them but have heard it mentioned with both SEP and Stein’s new books. I’d be happy. Makes me want to re read Rebecca.
Oh Amy Lane…I was/still am obsessed with her Little Goddess series. Would probably give a finger for a new book but it just seems like it will never happen 🙁 I never read any of her other stuff but I really should!
Michelle S I’m only 70% but liking Riding Dirty. Its an .MC not as deep as I was hoping and more erotic than I expected. So far if keeps up I’d definitely read next. The hero, Cole is just out of prison & Mia is his appointed psychologist. Both are likable. The hero for #2 looks interesting.
That’s true Bev forgot it was a trilogy. I like the gothic feel in books – SK Epperson comes to mind for me when I think of good examples of gothic reads. I think Green Lake is still free and has a great gothic vibe.
Thanks Michelle I’ll look it up. Intrusion looks so good but I read a review that gave away more than I think it should have. I think I may still try it soon.
Wonder what Maryse is reading.
Soooo…Nocte. What. The. Sh!t.
I need to figure out how I feel about it. Maybe marinate for a bit. Like in some vodka.
*sigh*
Even so, this song seems fitting:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A_U6iSAn_fY
Ohh what a morning – opened my kindle and finally saw Pull there. Have been waiting for ages for this book. Can’t wait to start reading it later today.
I am on a major roll with books. I can’t even stumble across a bad one right now. I just finished the novella Beast by Ella James and I’m just going to roll right into Pull.
That’s awesome Fabi! I was wondering about Beast. Had it on one of my lists!
Maryse, where are you? What are you reading? I started Pull this morning… didn’t get far but far enough to see what the heck happened! Can’t imagine where this storyline will go…..
Pull starts with a bang doesn’t it Jean? I think I’m going to put it down though and get myself to work. I couldn’t help but start it. But if I read too much I’ll end up sitting here reading all day.
Can not wait to start Pull tonight. I started Love, in English last and I am loving it.
So intrigued about Nocte, but have to balance that with ibook 2 and 3 not being out till next feb/may. Don’t think I can do it.
I bit the bullet and paid too much for Dirty Rowdy Thing. I am enjoying it and the “loving” is just what I needed after finishing EIT and before starting Push.
Typo, meant to type book, not ibook. LOL!!
Amy, you and the sad songs…*sigh*
I decided to keep reading after all. I’m at 34% with Pull. It has really slowed down from where it started. Still can’t imagine where this is going. But feeling pretty disconnected from the characters.
I know, Cheryl! I actually have playlists where I have left off any “book-trigger” songs. 😉
Okay, how about a song that isn’t sad but totally reminds me of Avoiding Commitment…if this isn’t Jack and Lexi then I don’t know what is:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3b6sYhdqKqA
Oh, and right now I have Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs playing…no sad songs today! 😀
Michelle & michelleS I’ve head the 1st 2 of the jokers wrath mx booth both were good! Still going to read the 3rd but took a break they are quite steamy especially the 1st! I enjoyed that one more!!
I’m on the second pyte/sentinel book I loved the 1st very sexy and great storyline
Amy still no push? I’m not going to read pull yet I will soon!! Maybe I will buddy with u when ur on it
This bloody autocorrect! Head=read mx=mc
Amy, that song makes me want to read Nocte. Obviously I need my head examined, but it does.
Yes Fabi, I agree. Not feeling the connection right now either. I will definitely need a light or romcom read after Nocte and Pull! Probably Rowdy or maybe On The Island.
With PULL being released today, I am undecided about what to do. I started PUSH back in May and abandoned it at about 60%. Not sure why. I can’t even remember what it was about!!! Someone who knows my taste please tell me if I should go back and read it again!!! Am I missing something awesome here?
Going to buy Joker’s Wrath series…. and look into that m/m book….. and trying to decide if I should buy Dirty Rowdy Thing or if it’s just my hormones telling me to get that.
So, in the meantime, I decided to try to finish one of the books in the “Beyond” series. I just needed some dystyopian-porn to get me through the slump!!!
Where the heck is Maryse???
Jean: ” need a light or romcom read after Nocte and Pull”…. don’t forget about Fate Book – that was funny and an easy read with a bit of a mystery too – oooh – and Rosie Project, which I thought was hi-lar-i-ous!!! But, please…. make time for On the Island. That’s just every girl’s perfect little romance novel.
Amy – how can you resist commenting on Kandace’s recommendation? “Beneath the Stain” – bahahaha – I hate sleeping beneath the stain. No one should have to deal with that. What a great book title. Sounds like bad porn. But I think I am going to buy it anyway.
MichelleS don’t forget Measure of Devotion. It’s free. historital in fantasy kind of way, mm, love story, really different and really good.
I’m taking the love story comment back. Let’s call it a romance.
What’s the Beyond series? You didn’t think you could say dystopian porn and not get my attention did you? *snort*
MichelleS, I did read Fate Book and Rosie and enjoyed them both! Any other recommendations? The Neighbor From a Hell series is usually light and funny and I have a couple of them left to read too. But you are making me want to read On The Island now!
I’m at 50% with Pull. I’ve picked it up and put it down several times. I was on such a roll with books! This one, hmmm, there’s nothing bad I can say about it. It’s just not holding my attention as well as I thought it would.
David still has two sides completely juxtaposed so that it’s impossible to tell if he’s the hero or antihero. I guess I feel like not much has changed from book 1. So far this one is reading the same with only different scenes. But the parts that created the adrenaline rush in book one are missing so far in book two.
Ok, I’m headed into the last 50% with fingers and toes crossed.
One thing that can’t be denied is that this is a completely original, mind twist of a story. (Yeah you know I wanted to use a different word there lol but I try to be good every once in a while)
Fabi, you have to pick up the Beyond series afterwards. The first one is Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha, and it’s free. It’s a pretty good dystopian series.
Just downloaded it. Thank you Tessa!
Fabi – LOL on the Dystopian Porn follow up comment. I really liked this series, by Kit Rocha, like Tessa said. It was pretty heavy handed on the sex, though…. to the point of being nearly filthy! But that’s okay by me. As long as I like the characters and the storyline. And I did. Every book is another couple’s story, so they are all stand-alones. But the story of their little corner of the broken world continues in each book. I made it to Book 4. I think there are five total so far with a couple of novellas in between. Book one is FREE so you can check out the dystopian porn for yourself. It really gets going in books two and three!
MichelleS that sounds like a perfect series for me!
Thank you for the description.
Hold on…I totally missed that in Kandace’s comment. *scrolls up page*
OMG, that’s a hilarious title! And it’s M/M?? You do *not* want to know where my mind just went with that and the word “stain”…seriously, Maryse will ban me from here if I actually put it in my comment, LOL!!
Tessa, if you need your head needs to be examined then mine needs full-on open-cranium surgery!! You should give Nocte a chance though. The ladies here have had mixed reactions, and I’m still trying to sort through how I feel about it (I keep going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars :?), but it’s a nice little mindf*ck there for a bit. 😉
Dystopian porn?!? Oh, I am SOLD!!! 😛
Laura, I’ll let you know when I start Push. I actually ended up jumping right into Lying Season (EIT) after finishing up Dead Sky Morning earlier today ’cause I am ap!ssed off that not too much has happened between Dex and Perry yet. Yep, ap!ssed!!! And that little romp in the tent *does not* count. I need to see some action with those two!!! *crosses arms*
Psst, Jean… *peeking around* I haven’t read On the Island either. Do I need to duck from the peanuts that will be thrown now???
Yeah Amy EIT low on the steam I will admit I stil have 3 books to read in that series!
I’m like bing this pyte/sentinel series still on book 2!
Fabi I just assumed u would have read beyond series its ur genre! It’s not even steamy it is literally porn it is by far the steamiest series I have ever read like don’t let anyone read over ur shoulder whatever u do lol
Lol Laura. I hadn’t even heard of that series ’till now. I’ll cover my e-reader.
Fabi – yup – pretty much half of each book is spent in some kind of orgy! but, somehow it still works. I love the male and female characters she created and I like the crazy world of bootlegged whiskey in the sectors outside of “Eden” where you need to belong to a gang to survive. I think it’s right up your alley.
Amy – seriously? you never read On The Island? I loved that book. Teacher and male student survive a plane crash and end up on an island all alone. What could possibly happen? I know it sounds corny and very Blue Lagoon like, but it really wasn’t. One of my personal favorites.
Amy – ALSO – It has that “forbidenny” thing since she is his 30 year old teacher and he’s 16 or 17 and is in remission for cancer! So it has all that AND having your period on an island!!!! You will not regret it. 🙂
Hehe, as long as the guy in OTI follows the “red tide” rule and doesn’t pull a James Cavendish… 😛
I’m still reading Pull because last night instead of reading I watched Netflix for hours. I just read a couple of comments on the newest thread here that have me wishing I hadn’t started it. But there was no way I could have avoided it. Push leaves you in such a state of anxiety that the sequel is almost a necessity.
Pull is a great book! I don’t want my ramblings to take away from that.
I’m probably just not in the right mood for it. All I want to do now is finish it and move on to some other reads that I’m highly anticipating.
Does this ever happen to any of you? When you’re highly anticipating a book or a movie it doesn’t quite meet expectations.
I still don’t know how Pull will resolve. But I’m pretty sure it won’t resolve like I hoped it would. Maybe that’s what has me a bit down about it.
Give me an “obviously” fictional world any day over a book that too closely resembles real life.
Fabi, I am feeling the same way. Was so anxious for Pull and have so many other books distracting me. I’m not that far into Pull…. like 35% maybe and I keep putting it down… Ugh! Need. To. Focus.
Jean, can’t tell you what a relief it is to hear someone else feels as I do about this book. I’ve put it down so many times that I think it would have been a dnf for me if I hadn’t read Push. I’m at 75% now so I’m making a big effort to get to the end of it because I am so anxious to get to some others books I have lined up.
Finished Pull. I am giving it 3 stars with an explanation. The author wrote a brilliant story with skill. Original, heart twisting and breath taking.
The missing 2 stars are completely my fault. They are missing not because of any lack in the story or skill in telling it. They are missing due to my personal preferences in books. This book is simply outside the realm of books I have a taste for.
So please consider the missing stars a lack in my reading appreciation and not a lack in the author’s talent.
I’m 51% into Lying Season, and judging from the above comments I am glad I jumped into this one instead of starting Push and Pull just yet. I figured out the whole bloody girl/wasp thing almost right away (I’m sure everyone else did as well ;)), and the whole “Anonymous” deal was definitely hinted at during Dead Sky Morning but now I am *sure* what that’s all about. And “someone” knows it, too. Oooooooh, there better be some groveling when that comes to light or I’m gonna have to cut someone. A$$hats are p!ssing me off!
Amy, each book does heat up incrementally, along with the angst and story if that makes sense. “Someone” grovel?! Surprise, surprise on that one! Get ready to be majorly pissed off…
I’m just about finished reading Dirty Rowdy Thing and it was a good, light sexy read after EIT. Now have to decide about starting Push/Pull after reading all the comments about it. Hmmm…
*whispering* I haven’t read On the Island either. 😉
Amy that song definitely is Jack and Lexi!! Hadn’t heard of Kaiser Chiefs- like them!
Amy you are getting closer to On Demon Wings, which I remember specifically even though I read these books a while ago, since it has a major WTF moment and like Cheryl said the angst level keeps going up – music to your ears right 🙂
Well I’ve shelved Push and Pull for now. I finished another borrow, The One, by Kiera Cass and it was another enjoyable YA dystopian read. Fabi, you would probably like this one if you haven’t already read this series.
Majorly p!ssed off, major WTF moment, and angst level that keeps going up??? Those are magic words for me! You ladies made my day!!!
*giggling and twirling around while holding melon martini*
Ok making a drink and starting Push…
Hope you like it Cheryl. Push was pretty awesome for me (in a wild wth kind of way)
Fabi I’m at about 10% and the beginning has me anxious and wondering how the hell this book is going to play out. Already feeling wtf. Don’t think this is going to be a sweet story. 😉
Oh yeah Cheryl. Push blew my mind!
