TODAY’S QUICK HURRICANE IRMA AFTERMATH UPDATE: HERE I AM!!! :D Okay still no electricity, and cell service goes on and off for hours at a time… but my freezer loaded in frozen water bottles is totally holding up (everything is still frozen solid) and I keep moving a water bottle or two up to the fridge to keep THAT cold, so it’s working! PLUS! I’m here and I’m reading my heart out.

P.S. BOOK UPDATE!!! I’m reading “Until It Fades: A Novel” by K.A. Tucker, and this book is AWESOME!!!!! She saves a famous hockey star from a car crash and doesn’t realize who he is… Soooooooooo much more than the impression I got from the blurb (which was awesome in itself. Totally gave me a blurb jolt) and WOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!! THIS… wow. It is deep, and intense, and has so much more than what you expect is going to happen. And I’m being inundated with tummy-love-butterflies and I’m LOVING how on the edge of my seat I am with this. I think this is going to be one of my 2017 favorites and I mean right at the top! Ohhhhhh how I am in love with it. And now back to it. :)

P.S. Happy Birthday to my fellow book-twin, Amy!!! :D I hope today is your best day ever, and that every day following, is even better than that!

And now… LOOKIT ALL THE BOOKS!!!!!! 85+ books on today’s list, and with so many choices, you know I had some blurbs that totally jolted me in excitement.

Which ones gave me a blurb jolt? :D !!! ➔ Drumline (It’s actually a recent release and is on today’s reader recs section, but OMG!!! Did Krista just compare the hero to TRAVIS?!?!? MINE MINE MINE!!!!!Blood Guard (heck YES!! This sounds like a gritty “old-school” vampire romance… the human bartender and the vampire that steals her away to an underground world she never knew about.  You know… ’cause we’re human and all. And P.S. they NEED her), Mark My Words (it just got re-released with a gorgeous new cover, and it’s a psych thriller that sounds all stalker-y. YES PLEASE!! I hope it creeps me out goooooood!!), Play On (that one up there to the left! Sounds like a rock-star book, and they were perfect together until he left suddenly. And now she finds out he HATES her so much, but she has NO idea why), Forget Me Not (DARK READ!! She was kidnapped by his father, and he helped her, but she left him there with his monster… and now as adults, she’s guilt ridden. And he’s back. Sounds like he’s a monster too), Fraternize (Rachel Van Dyken’s latest and she’s a curvy cheerleader, up against all sorts of rules but she’s thrilled at her new spot! Except… she’s not allowed to fraternize with the football players. Yeah… this should be good ;) tee hee!), Lust (OMG THIS ONE!!!! She’s a single mom prostitute, and the tattooed bad-ass cop arrests her… and then THIS: “I was a whore of the highest value. Until Detective Adrian Potter. Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale. The cop and the hooker. Happily ever f**king never.” MINE!!!!!!) and The Rejected Wife (arranged marriage and he HATES her. In fact, he married her to make her pay “…no transgression against the Solace family will go unpunished. It is my duty to make sure she pays for what she has done. And the best part is, she’ll be paying for her mistake… …for as long as we both shall live…”).

And there are quite a few more that sound awesome that I highlighted below. AND! Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s 10 Monday Earlybird Book Releases!!

P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere).

Throws confetti over Amy. Have a great day. Dang shame you have to work on your birthday. Oh well. Hope you get some reading time in later ;)

Great list. I’m clicking on The Final Score cos I used to love that series. I suspect I may have outgrown them now, but this is gonna be the last one, so for old times sake…..

And I’m clicking on A Kiss In Lavender. My Laura Florand love affair continues :) This one is about the superhot Lucien. Ah, my darling. Blows kisses to Lucien. Hoh Hoh Hoh (said in raunchy French accent.)

Jan September 12, 2017 at 10:54 PM

Ooh and I’ve one-clicked Times Square, cos, Jana Aston. It is a novella and has been published before, but I’m still gonna try it. AND she has a new standalone novel coming out next month called Sure Thing. :D

Julie o September 13, 2017 at 2:04 AM

Maryse
I read Until It Fades right after it came out and loved it too. Good idea for a story.

Lisa M September 13, 2017 at 7:54 AM

I finished the Rejected Wife. It was good. When I read about the author at the end it’s says she’s 17!! Wow!!

Tessa September 13, 2017 at 9:33 AM

Grey, I started Dirty, Filthy, Rich Love last night and I couldn’t stop! I’m almost done. :) Yep, it’s that good.

Leslie M September 13, 2017 at 10:10 AM

I looooooved Until it Fades.

I don’t usually like slow-burnish types, but this one was not at all boring or long winded…perfectly paced and fabulous and swoony.

Jean September 13, 2017 at 10:24 AM

Happy birthday Amy one day late! Hope it was a good one!

Maryse, glad you survived the storm and had lots of reading time! You have me wanting to read Until It Fades asap!

I’m still reading A Court of Wings and Ruin…..long book….. but I kinda don’t want to leave their world too quickly!

Tessa, glad you are liking that jerk from Begin Again!

There are a lot of books I want up there on that list!

Tessa September 13, 2017 at 11:18 AM

LOVED the jerk from Begin Again. Just absolutely adored it.

I want another Court book… Yes, I loved it that much. :)

marina September 13, 2017 at 6:10 PM

Maryse, so sorry to hear you had to weather the storm, relieved to hear you are ok! Sounds like you have mastered the art of refrigeration! xo

Tessa September 13, 2017 at 10:37 PM

Okay. I read three books this week that were astounding. Begin Again by Mora Kasten (All the rest of her books are in German… grr! I want to read them all!), Filthy, Dirty, Rich Love, which I expected to love, and Fraternize by Rachel Van Dyken. I totally didn’t expect it to be a 5 star! However, you read it and you keep reading and and and… It was so good. :D

Jan September 14, 2017 at 12:48 AM

Begin Again looks interesting. But it’s not out till next month!!! *pouts*

Lisa Aiello September 14, 2017 at 7:11 AM

Jan – I just got Begin Again through NetGalley if you are signed up for them and want to try for it!!

Maryse September 14, 2017 at 8:18 AM

I’m back!!! The electricity is on and I am SO relieved and SO happy. I’m a little exhausted and I still have to go through my fridge and freezer and dump a ton of stuff, and contemplate whether I want to bring everything outside again, or wait to make sure Jose is definitely off my path.

But I am SO HAPPY!!! :D

Maryse September 14, 2017 at 8:23 AM

What’s all this talk about the jerk in Begin Again?? I just heard of this book now because someone tweeted me saying they can’t wait for my review of it. And I’m all… what what what? Then I come here and you guys are talking about it too, AND there’s a jerk in it?

Oooooh do tell!!! :D !!!

D.G. September 14, 2017 at 8:46 AM

Finished The Rejected Wife last night…a little disappointed b/c I was hoping it would be on the lines of maybe Sparrow. For a 17yr old to have wrote it, a job well done for her. However, for me there was not enough depth…not angsty at all…and the H was just straight hateful when he was being hateful. Not jerky or hot bully just straight up hateful to the point I would have walked out of that door after the first go round.

Tessa September 14, 2017 at 9:03 AM

Begin Again isn’t out yet, BUT!!! He’s an absolute jerk in the beginning. He needs a roommate and she needs a room, but he has rules and is just mean. It really was awesome. :) It doesn’t come out until Oct, sadly.

Jean September 14, 2017 at 9:20 AM

Yay! I’m loving all the love for Begin Again!!! So great! Yes Maryse, a jerk! And he could be seriously brutal at times!

Tessa, I think the next one is coming out in English….I saw that somewhere……I’ll keep you updated! And now, you have me wanting to read Fraternize which I received through NG. Is that where you got it?

(Glad you survived the storm Maryse)!

Holy moly…four days without electricity. That IS exhausting. :?

*hugs*

R. Renee September 14, 2017 at 11:03 AM

Welcome back Maryse! I can’t even imagine! But I wonder if I’d hate being forced off my laptop for a little while. Hmm… That part might not be so bad.

Tessa September 14, 2017 at 12:13 PM

I’m just happy she has it back on. They originally were saying on the news at least a week. 0.0 And Maryse, now,you can charge your books! :P

Maryse September 14, 2017 at 12:17 PM

I’m actually reading Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey (the one with the stripper-cop cover that made me smirk… or maybe that was a frown… maybe a bit of an eyebrow waggle too :P )… might have even turned me off the book, but I had it and I was in the mood for a good hot-cop story, and OMG this book is SO MUCH better than the cover.

And I mean… I may just give it 5 stars. It has had me laughing out loud seriously…(he doesn’t realize it, but he’s freaking hilarious) and my heart in my throat half the time. It’s a bit typical, predictable contemporary romance (nobody wants to commit etc etc…) but there’s something about the way the author wrote the characters (their dialogue and she has the GUY thoughts and reactions PERFECT!!!!) that I am absolutely in love with this book. I believe this story and I’m really connected to their feelings. I FEEL IT.

Plus, he’s wonderfully obnoxious and possessive and bossy but sweet and in his own way… romantic (even though he’s not trying to be – you’ll see…. OMG he’ll steal your heart so many times), and the stuff he does to sabotage … things. LOL!!!!!!

I’m even reading the steamy (and I. Mean. STEAMYYYYY!!!) scenes, not a skim to be found. Yeah. This one, you’d not know it by that cover, but it’s really REALLY good.

Okay. :) This author can write a gooooooood love story.

Oh yeah. FLT: “People magazine isn’t going to name me the Sexiest Man Alive any time soon, so I don’t play the long game with girls.” (Disorderly Conduct by Tessa Bailey)

Jean September 14, 2017 at 12:29 PM

Sounds like you found another great one for us Maryse!

Tessa September 14, 2017 at 1:24 PM

Oooh, that sounds great, Maryse. :)

FLT ~ He makes the rules. She breaks them all. ~ Begin Again by Mona Kasten.

Jan September 14, 2017 at 9:12 PM

Lisa I’m not on Netgalley. I have to be real. I’ve got MORE than enough to read LOL. I can wait till Begin Again comes out. :) I just got a copy of The Dark Of The Moon which I WON on RobinHillWrites. Woohoo. *throws confetti* I never win anything usually. I’m so thrilled. It’s just sitting there softly calling my name, waiting for me to finish a couple of buddy reads I’m doing. If I wake up in the night, hearing a spooky ‘Jan….Jan…’ I’ll know what is is LOL.

Maryse, so relieved for you that you got through it safely. And you kept your blog going too! What a champ! *hugs*

Grey September 14, 2017 at 9:14 PM

Yay Maryse for having power!!! Hope you haven’t lost too much stuff in the meantime… And thankful it was just…stuff. Stuff can be replaced, people cannot, you know? *hugs*

Tomorrow is Friday…thank God! I think we need an old fashioned blog Friday tomorrow… Everyone should pop in, have a bev question kind of night… Maybe a round of 3 things, virtual cocktails? I miss you guys!!!

Jan September 14, 2017 at 9:16 PM

Yep it was me. *hugs R.* Thanks!

Nice idea for Friday Grey. Let’s do it.

R. Renee September 14, 2017 at 9:18 PM

You’re welcome! I LOVE that book. I wasn’t about to let a little thing like being in another country get in the way!

Jan September 14, 2017 at 9:30 PM

Haha. :D Looking forward to reading it.

Cheryl September 14, 2017 at 10:03 PM

Yeh Maryse, glad the electricity is back on and bonus with the great book find!!!

Amy September 14, 2017 at 10:23 PM

Ooooooooh, I’m IN for blog Friday!!

Hubby has a work thing with the other guys tomorrow night, and I was planning on staying in (love my girlfriends but I need some ME time), reading, and drinking CHERRY VODKA SOURS courtesy of Maryse and R. Yep, I’m a-gettin’ tipsy tomorrow night and I would LOVE to spend it with all of you!

I’ll SO be here. :D

R. Renee September 14, 2017 at 10:27 PM

OMG Amy I love them. I’m buying a big jar of cherries tomorrow and making them this weekend. I’m in for tomorrow night!

Amy September 14, 2017 at 10:43 PM

YAY!!! It’s a Friday night blog party!!

*happy dances around the room*

Jan September 14, 2017 at 11:14 PM

Yay! *runs out to stock up on cherries and vodka*

Janet September 15, 2017 at 5:43 AM

I just wrote this in your What to Read After Fifty Shades of Grey comments but then thought I’d throw it here too. i really recommend Laurelin Paige’s’ duet series, Dirty Filthy Rich Men and Dirty Filthy Rich Love – the story of Donovan and Sabrina! A good roller coaster ride through hot obsession, with some angst, some heart wrench and a buffet of good characters to love and loathe. Can’t wait for the follow ups! In the meantime, on to Disorderly Conduct!

Leslie M September 15, 2017 at 7:06 AM

R., So funny that you recommend Kept to me because I keep seeing your updates on GR and thinking how much I LOVE that cover. No clue what book is about, but cover makes me want to read it.

Speaking of covers….Maryse, I am glad you are enjoying Disorderly Conduct ’cause that cover is awful. ;)

Maryse September 15, 2017 at 8:25 AM

LOL!! Isn’t it, though?? *snort* Stripper-cop… I don’t know why they went with that, but it’s actually great!

Maryse September 15, 2017 at 8:30 AM

Okay I’m in. I’ll go and grab some of that yummy cherry vodka drink stuff in a bit. :D YAY US!

Maryse September 15, 2017 at 8:32 AM

I didn’t lose anything, Grey which makes me So lucky. No damage from as far as I can tell in my neighborhood. Just some downed trees (small ones). Very lucky indeed!!! :D

Maryse September 15, 2017 at 8:33 AM

LOL! Thank you Jan! I power-prepared the blog. ;) It kept me sane while waiting for that hurricane to come in. Felt like even though I was isolated for a week, that the blog posts kept me connected to you all, anyway.

Maryse September 15, 2017 at 8:35 AM

YAY! Thank you for the feedback Lisa! :D
