UPDATED 07-25-2019!! MUCH LOVED FANTASY SERIES (and much loved author) by so many of our fellow readers. We’re in love with her “The Others” series, and THIS one is all the rage, too!! Check out these reactions!!! P.S. Book # 10 just went up for preorder!! 😀
Robyn: Right now I’m reading The Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop. She wrote The Written in Red series, which is much beloved by lots of folks here. Anywho’s, why did I take so long to start this glorious series?? The writing is outstanding. I was sucked in with the first chapter. I can’t wait to read all the books to see what happens to this girl as she, grows into an adult. I just love it when I find a treasure trove of goodness!! SQUEEE!
bev: Anyone who has read both, Michelle?, does the Tairen Soul remind you, faintly, of the Black Jewels? Just in the men and their women?
Michelle: Tairen Soul and Black Jewels are faintly reminiscent of each other but I LOVE them both for their individual epic stories so difficult to compare. I think if others are looking for a fantasy escape after Tairen Soul, you would love Black Jewels.
Ela: I’m not sure if I hate or love the Black Jewels series by Anne Bishop, and yes I’m only on book 4 and YES I READ SPOILERS AFTER BEV POINTED OUT BOOK NINE HAS SOME CONTROVERSY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maryse: Oooooh controversy!!! That actually calls my name!!! 😀 !!!
Peggy: I’m totally hooked on Ann Bishop’s Black Jewels series. I’ve read all and am starting over after purchasing the whole series. I wish there was a movie of the trilogy. I have read several of Ms. Bishop’s other books as well. she is a good author and her stories really grab you into them.
Tina: Please try the black jewels trilogy by Anne bishop. I love many of these books and thought you might enjoy this one. It’s different but the characters really grab a hold of you. I’ve reread it many times!!!!!
About the series:
Seven hundred years ago, a Black Widow witch saw an ancient prophecy come to life in her web of dreams and visions. Now the Dark Kingdom readies itself for the arrival of its Queen, a Witch who will wield more power than even the High Lord of Hell himself. But she is still young, still open to influence-and corruption.
Whoever controls the Queen controls the darkness. Three men-sworn enemies-know this. And they know the power that hides behind the blue eyes of an innocent young girl. And so begins a ruthless game of politics and intrigue, magic and betrayal, where the weapons are hate and love-and the prize could be terrible beyond imagining…

I’M TOTALLY HOOKED ON ANN BISHOP’S BLACK JEWELS SERIES
I’VE READ ALL AND AM STARTING OVER AFTER PURCHASING THE WHOLE SERIES. I WISH THERE WAS A MOVIE OF THE
TRILOGY. I HAVE READ SEVERAL OF MS BISHOP’S OTHER BOOKS AS WELL. SHE IS A GOOD AUTHOR AND HER STORIES
REALLY GRAB YOU INTO THEM.
I also read The Price a short story with Surreal and Rainier in the Powers of Detection anthology. (Yes, I was a crazy enough fan to track it down and buy it.) This is actually one of my favorite stories in the world. You get a bit more in etiquette and male/female interactions.
Totally love the Black Jewels world.
