The WHOLE world has been telling me about this series, and how I MUST read it immediately. From my sisters, to my nieces to my friends, it appears this is another series that will rock my world! BIG books too (which I love because they aren’t over too quickly).
Wow it DOES look amazing – time travel romance about a women torn between her husband in one time period, and her lover in another…

As per the author’s webpage FAQ:
…my books don’t fit the standard conventions of the modern romance. Outlander has some elements of a standard romance–enough to make it appealing to romance readers in general–but the second and third books don’t; they deal with an ongoing relationship between two decent people who already love each other- -there’s no falling-in-love, getting acquainted, now-we-like-each- other-now-we-don’t kind of conflict. It (the Outlander cycle) is primarily an adventure story, in which history is as important a player as any of the individuals. To say nothing of which I don’t have guaranteed happy endings…
I haven’t read the latest one but the first two are SO good.
This is definitely one of the best series of all time. Jamie and Claire are THE couple, and I love everything about these books. I’ve read the whole series (except for Echo) twice. And, even though they’re big books, I flew through them the first time b/c I was soooo into them and dying to know what would happen next!!
Oh I can’t wait to start the series. I actually just started reading Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series this week (almost done book#1) and it’s pretty good (time travel in that one too!).
I’m intrigued…
Hi Erin!
Question – have you read Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series yet, and how does it compare? I went with KMM’s series first because I was so addicted to her Fever series, and I know these sorta “merge” somewhat with character crossovers, so I was intrigued.
Anyway, I’m sure Diana Gabladon’s series is in a league of it’s own considering the HUGE following it has…
They are so amazing! I read them in 2007 and I am about to start the series again!! I am so excited! They go into so much depth and are so worth buying and reading over and over again!
I’ve read the whole series. Loved it am reading them again now that I have my Kendel. She goes into such detail you feel like your there. Looking gorward to the next one.
I stoped at book two… I could’nt stand it that Jamie *spoiler*…
Aya…. I recommend you continue the series, if that was the only reason you stopped 😉
Love this series. Can hardly wait for vol 8. Have kept the books so I can reread them many times and have loaned them to friends so they can read them. Please let me know when Vol. 8 comes out
thank you
Love the Outland series and have reread them several times as have many of my friends. Please let me know when Vol 8 comes out
Thank you
Outlander series gets my vote for best non Christian fiction. ( Francine Rivers is best Christian fiction with Mark of Lion being best series of her) I have fallen so into Outlander that I am hooked on the YouTube videos done of the series!
I have been reading the books in the wrong sequence. It doesn’t detract from the storyline at all. Perhaps because of the time travel nature. Absolutely and totally enjoying the adventure
Written in my own hearts blood is supposed to be the title of her next book in the outlander series. According to Diana’s website it should be out early next year, thought youd like the update 🙂 this is my favorite series.
Hi, I just, JUST started reading this series and looking very forward to it…wish there had been a “Spoiler Alert” on the comment about Jamie. 🙁
Ruby… no worries about the “Jamie” comment.. the story is BIG and well, all I can say is, its well worth reading, so much more to it. Nothing is as simple as it seems and this author is amazing. I haven’t finished the series myself, and I’m still guessing.
My sister started me on OUTLANDER SERIES and since, have read and reread each of them…Jamie and Clare are such a couple…whooooeeey…CAN’T WAIT UNTIL #8 comes out…..I so enjoy the way you weave historical facts along with the storyline…..Please let me know WHEN it will be on the shelves
other ladies have told me about this series so for Christmas I will buy myself several of the books and get started.
I love Karen Marie Moning’s highlander series…the fever series is good but I got a thing for highlanders…pity there aren’t thousands of them walking around in real life.
Ever Scot I chat to online ends up being VERY UN-Highlander like;oh well, whats a woman to do but read and dream…LOL.
LOL Kay!!!
Yep, dream and keep reading this books. 😉
Have read Outlander, just finished Dragonfly in Amber, on to Voyager. Awesome series.
Just finished the second book Dragonfly in Amber and can’t wait to begin Voyager. What a writer Diana is – bedtime reading – they bring back the romance in your life 🙂
just started reading these books today. i am about 15% through book 1.
oh my i am on chapter 28 of book 1 (still LOL this such a long book) but I officially adore jamie. Be still my heart.
Can someone please tell me, in what order are the Outlander Series in for reading..I have just finished Cross Stitch and I just couldn’t put it down..I”m hoping it was book # 1..
The reading order is listed above. I hope this helps! 🙂
Cross Stitch is the UK title of the first book (which for us, is entitled Outlander). So yes, you read book1. Awesome book, right?
Just started Outlander. I’m liking the writing style, but not the 45 minute long chapters. I tend to read chapter by chapter since I have 2 teens and a 3 year old, it’s hard to get a 45 minute chapter in, lol! I’m figuring out a rhythm, though. Hope the series is as good as I’ve heard!
Read then all. Waiting for book 8. I have learned a lot from Claire and the plants she used. That was very interesting and also the history line very educating. Started them over bc of series beginning on starz in the summer. Great detail and romance was not bad at all. Oh Jamie love of my life. What a shame he is fiction. But my dreams are great!!
I am now reading the second volumn of the series. this is the third time around. When I get tired of reading something other less. I go back here. to Jamie and Claire, real lovers, in a special time. Thank You for this wonderful reading.
Maryse, where does “Crosstich” fit into this series,I’ve read a few different sites about Diana Gabaldon books & none of them mention this book. Thanks [email protected]
