One of my all time favorite series (including the awesome “spin-off) – this is a MUST read! A world where vampires, ghouls, ghosts, and shifters exist (in hiding) amongst our own human population! Cat (born half human, half vampire) started off as a vampire hunter, but tangled with the wrong monster. Or should I say, the right one?
Bones showed her the error of her ways, helped her embrace and develop her vampire side, and together, they have been battling evil for six books now. Always exciting, laugh-out-loud funny, emotional, and sometimes downright scary. Each installment provides a new mystery to solve, a new battle to overcome, and another chapter in an intense romance that still gives me butterflies.
It’s not always easy though. Cat and Bones have hit many walls along the way, proving that two very strong-willed, in-love, powerful individuals will sizzle right off your page.
As per the author’s website:
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father – the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership.
I’ve just updated this list to include all of the short stories in the correct reading order, too.

As per the author:
The NIGHT HUNTRESS series is an urban fantasy romance featuring half-vampire heroine Cat Crawfield. My heroine and hero have a difficult road ahead of them and they will have to work very hard to earn their HEA (happily-ever-after), so their story isn’t over with the first book. Hope you come along for the ride.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series and am still kicking myself for waiting so long to start reading it!
And I bet Lily’s kicking herself too, cause she just started it this week and LOVES it!
I LOVE IT! My butt kicking machine will be up and running tonight!
I knew you would love it…It will be a favorite of yours for sure! I was lucky to stumble upon this series when I was first starting out, so you can imagine how hooked I was to Paranormal books after these. This was my exact introduction into this genre (in order):
Twilight Saga
Sookie Series
Anita Blake
Cat and Bones
Maryse,
Just reading the 4th in the night Huntress series. Love them!
Already done Sookie (Book 4 several times). Who is Anita Blake? That could well be my next read. love your recomendations. xxx
Hey Jackie!! I loved Anita Blake up to a certain point…Have you read Larissa Ione’s Demonica series? Very good!! Or how about Sherrilyn Kenyon’s “Dark Hunters”?
I just have a question. I am starting the Frost series today, you said this is one of your all time favorites. Have you read all the series by the authors you have posted to the right? Just wondering because I am a huge fan of Dark-Hunter’s, BDB, Demonica and several others. Does this series measure up? I have had people tell me series were really good, then I read them and they are tame. I read alot…only paranormal for the last 4 years, I average 1 book every day and a half. Just looking for an honest, educated opinion. Don’t want to waste my time if they are not on the same level. Thanks for your time…..Aimee
In my personal opinion, these are awesome and in fact – one of my absolute favorite series. Without a doubt. the series has managed to make me cry, panic, growl in frusteration, and in one instance, there is a cliffhanger that sent me scrambling to get the next book ASAP cause I couldn’t stand the not knowing…Action and adventure, lots of humor, sexy vampires, serious romantic and jealous tension, and the love scenes are steamy STEAMY hot! This author doesn’t “fade to black” in these instances. I have read all of the series you have mentionned, and I’d say…hrmmm…similar in “feel” to Demonica. No “hospital” in this one, but similar “mingling” of paranormal characters (not all vamps), and paranormal politics. What’s fun about this series, is it’s considered “Urban Fantasy” – you follow the main two characters throughout (except for the “spin-off books – those are about the best freinds of the main characters – but still great).
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your feedback. Yeah I loved Demonica, good twist. I have a friend who has never been into paranormal or urban fantasy. She read Twilight, loved it , so I told her that it was nothing compared to what she could be reading. Don’t get me wrong , I am a Twilight fan. Although I can’t read books at that level anymore. Amanda Ashley is good as well, but I find those series almost boring in comparison. So I had her transition into the paranormal world in this order….A Ashley Night Series…a few stand alone authors…Adrian’s Breed Series…now she is on the 8th book in the Dark-Hunter’s….which she absolutely loves. Next she is going to read Ward BDB. She had to transition into paranormal, she thought she would only like vampires so I am introducing her slowly. Was thinking about having her read Demonica next, but not sure. Also thinking about McCray. She really wants to read Adrian Phoenix, but I think she should wait on that one. Any thoughts on the subject?
I read Adrian Phoenix right at the beginning of my transition into the genre and loved it.
However… I’d say without a doubt BDB!!!!! Oh my – that will convert her for sure – I just know it! That is my #1 of all time. Oh and another series I love is Stacia Kane’s “Downside Ghosts” – no vampires but dark, gritty, magic, witches and bad ghosts and an intense love triangle that will keep you on the edge of your seat. This series, is my #1 of the year I think.
Cool….yeah me and my friends LOVE LOVE LOVE the brothers. How could you not?! They are hard core badasses, who make you laugh, with a protection streak a mile wide. Thanks for answering. I’m going to book mark your page, it’s nice to find someone online who actually feels the same way about these world’s as we do. Found too many sites that I honestly find stupid. We are all mid-thirties, with full time jobs, kids, pets, and husband’s. Books are a great outlet. Thanks again and I will be popping in from time to time:)
Thanks for the suggestion. Though having read your post to Aimee I think I’ll try BDB first. I’ve loved the Night Huntress Series and read a book a day – some nice 2am finishes! Loved Bones – who wouldn’t – and he’s a Londoner like me.
I’m new to this genre – read Twilight a few months ago and since then went on to True Blood (loved them – definitely Team Eric!). Next was the Mortal Instruments Series (young but really good books and well written.)Then came the Fever Series (loved them and am left desperately waiting for the next book in the series as book 4 finished on such a cliffhanger. I still can’t make up my mind about Barons – I really want to like him and want him to end up as this dashing hero BUT…….) Then onto The Highlander Series ( found this a bit unrealistic. I can accept vampires, demons, ghouls etc but all those 21st century virgins – no way!
It’s only through your site that I’m realising just how many books there are in this genre, and I thank you for your reccommendations.
For sure, Jackie, BDB is ALWAYS one of my first suggestions… since you haven’t read those yet, you’ve got some great fun ahead of you.
Hi! I’m Aimee’s friend Heather, and she introduced me to the paranormal genre back in July. I have done nothing but read series she has recommended since then. I just finished Sins of the Night by Kenyon and am about to start the next book in the series. I can’t wait to finish this series and then go on to Ward’s B.D.B. I’m so excited to find someone else so into this particular genre!!
Lucky, lucky girl! Heather…I can’t wait to hear who your favorite brother is… 😉
Hallo!……Love Bones!!!!! Had alot of things going on this weekend, so my reading was sidetracked. On the 2nd book. So far I’m loving the series. BTW…..V is my fav brother:)
Hi! I love Bones and Cat! Just finished book #4 and I was wondering if I should read the two spin off books before reading Night Huntress #5. Does it matter? Thanks!!
Hi Dawn! I would (I did 🙂 ) they are interesting in themselves, and a few of the characters in the spin-off have significant story lines, that aid somewhat in this new release. Of course, everything is pretty well explained in this new Cat & Bones – so you don’t have to, but do youself a favor and read Mencheres’s book – he is now my favorite of them all because of his spin-off. Spade’s great too 😉
Thanks Maryse! I just finished Spades book, started it last night, I couldn’t put it down! Menchere’s book is next, I can’t wait to start it! Going to order it for my nook right now! LOL!!
Love your site, I’m always looking for new books to read! I’m glad I came across it!
What is your all time favorite series?? I will need something new to read soon!
Hi Dawn!
My favorite for now is the Black Dagger Brotherhood…very addictive!! Have you read it? Right now though I’m reading The Guardians of Eternity. I’m only on book one, but very good so far 🙂

I am in love with Spade… his book was by far my favorite in this series…. Cat and Bones are amazing too… but something about Spade made me get all warm and fuzzy inside…. great series…. BDB is also on my top fave list…. Z is my fave brother…. oh man… is he HOT….
Spade was nice, wasn’t he? Loved the dinner table meeting where it became quite obvious she wasn’t his “pet”. Awesome!!
My favorite was Mencheres. LOVE him!
I really loved the part in the park – when he tasted her and then told her to run…. holy smokes… he’s a hotty…. and the shower scene…. when he purposely took a cold shower so she could eye spy on him…. mmm mmm.. Mencheres is HOT too…. he’s really young looking… but really old…. and the love making under the amusement park… ooo la la!!!
Hey Ladies!!! I am so excited to have found this website. I just bought the Night Huntress series and have not started reading them yet. After reading all of your post , I am very excited to start them. I am so happy that i found other people who enjoy some of the same series that I do. Any suggestions on any other series??? I have read and love BDB, Anita Blake, Demonica, Dark Hunter and Sookie Stackhouse.
Currently reading the Demonica series… but how is the Dark Hunter? I read the first three Anita Blake also… is it worth it to keep going???
Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series is excellent! If you are referring to this series (Night Huntress) It’s excellent too! You can’t go wrong with either of them 🙂
Anita Blake was good (for me) until the last 4 or 5.

Hands down my FAVORITE all time series. BDB was second for me. Nobody beats Cat & Bones <3
This is the first time I’ve EVER signed up to read, let alone participate in comments for anything. Figure I waited for the best to get my feet wet. Maryse, when I realized your thinking was similar to mine, I read on. Really appreciate your comments about other series. I, too, started with Twilight, then grew up, so to speak. I enjoy NOT fading to black at the good parts. Ms. Frost has a great way with love scense, doesn’t she? Also appreciate the reading order of series, which is how I stumbled onto your site.
A thought: I travel a great deal, and joined Audible (www.audible.com). You download “books on tape” and burn to CDs (or MP3 or whatever you like). If you think READING these are fun, try listenting to them in your car! I read fast, and end up skipping things. When you LISTEN to them, you don’t miss anything. Hmmm. Let’s just say it’s fun to HEAR ‘Hallo, Kitten.’ Although I’d suggest hitting the pause button if you’re going through any drive throughs.
LOL Cindy!! Yeah… I dunno that Bones and driving mix 😉 But late at night when your eyes are too tired to read anything… hrmm. Now that’s a thought!!
I’ve been told that Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series on audio is AMAZING!

She is by far my favorite author. I love Vlad but I need more of Cat and Bones. When will they have another book?
I found your site by looking up the reading order for Cat & Bones. I think your details and opinions are good, very good for finding my next read. I’m an aspiring writer of this genre and wanting to soak up as much popular fiction as I can, this is a great site to start! Thank you!
Sherrilyn Kenyon is my favorite author, but Frost is fast becoming my number Two! Your site has now earned an icon on my iPad! Keep those opinions and updates coming.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this list! This is now my all time favorite series!!! I just finished book 3 and can’t wait to start 4!!! Going first thing in the morning to the library!!!

Oh I forgot I had a question. Do you think it’d be ok to read all the anthologies and spinoffs at the end? My library is taking forever to get the books I need and I have book 5 waiting for me to jump in! lol
First ever I have been through your books so fast,I love them all. keep Cat and Bones going!
I’ve read most these books, and I am reading One Grave at a Time now. It kept me up most the night last night! lol
