This is a mature YA series, that I’ve seen mentioned a few times lately (as a recommendation). But when I get that recommendation, it is ADAMANT!
Considering the book titles and the series name, I was all… I dunno if I want to read about teens fishing, but… it’s not about that at all! After reading the synopsis, I realized they’re clever titles.
I just keep hearing just how goooood it is, so I must check ’em out!
Liz: Shark Bait… I truly believe you will love this book!!
Autumn: It’s truly one of my favorites. I’m telling you, they’re favorites. All-time favorites!
Rhonda: Goodness, just one. Well I’ve reread Shark Bait by Jenn Cooksey the most, I think. So I’ll go with that. <— (sidenote from Maryse: when I asked readers to tell me their ONE absolute favorite book ever).
Wow. I’ve gotta read these, considering those reactions. After all, my reading love started with YA books, and I didn’t miss “a thing” 😉 as long as I was feeling those butterflies, so… maybe it’s time that I re-visited the genre.
About book #1:
Previously homeschooled Camie Ramsey is being shoved into the shark-infested waters of public high school, where even helium filled, penguin bespeckled arm floaties likely won’t help keep her inexperienced, fifteen-year old head above water in that rip current of hormones and emotions.
Camie’s worldly wisdom might be severely lacking (i.e., the closest she’s come to being kissed was sitting too close to the TV whilst Jake Ryan leaned in to give Samantha that fateful 16th birthday kiss), but she does understand her only hope for survival is if she’s thrown some kind of “social” life preserver before she sinks like a freaking rock. However, what will her fate be when she endeavors to flag down the only lifeguard on duty, the enormously popular and ridiculously beautiful Tristan Daniels? The most sought after and virtually most unattainable guy in school who not only makes Camie’s heart flatline on a recurring basis, he’s also the one guy who seemingly doesn’t know she exists.Feeling like an inept piece of chum that could ultimately be swallowed by Jaws, can Camie get Tristan to rescue her from floundering in the treacherous deep, or is she destined to be Shark Bait?
YAY!!! I am telling you…this series is a MUST READ!!!
I love love love this series!! Definite must reads!!
I wasn’t sure way back when I picked this up for .99. I immediately fell in love with this YA book. The characters are simply amazing and the journey is funny as hell! I never thought I would really enjoy it all that much but I tell people all the time that one should not base their judgements on this book based on synopsis or book cover because there is a definite YA feel that might turn readers like me off. However, the story is that good. I’ve read both books, the first one multiple times and I love them both! I cannot wait for the third this summer!!!
is there only 1 book out yet? I just bought it, it was 1.00 so figured i might as well
The 2nd one is out now, too. 🙂
I can’t wait for the 3rd book! Beware! There is a brutal cliffhanger in book 2.
Loved them!!! BUT….major cliffy at the end of book two 🙁 and pretty much an “eff you” on when the next one is due out :-(….not happy abt that!
OK….. I LOVED this book!! I am currently beginning the second one!! It took me back to high school and all of the great memories. Thanks for a great recommendation!!
