YAY!! A military-themed series!! And I have a feeling I’m gonna love ’em considering a few of her other reads I picked up last year. I loved this author’s bad-boy tattooed short story called Hearts in Darkness. I read it and was absolutely smitten and wanting more by the end of that one. I picked up her vampire book (Forever Freed) and I quickly realized that her hero’s were totally my thing. And now I hear that her “Special Forces” series might just take the cake!
I remember when book one was released, everyone seemed to be talking about it. The recommendations started pouring in. The reason I held back? Only because it was a “shorter story”, and I wasn’t all that experienced with “shorts” back then (I was a full-length book snob 😉 ). But I’m mostly over that. I realized some of these “short stories” can still entertain me for hours, and now that the sequel has just been released, I’m all over this! I’m reading these next (you can consider this my “currently reading” post):

Nicole: I just finished reading Laura Kaye’s “Her Forbidden Hero” two days ago and came onto your blog to highly recommend it to everyone so it’s a coincidence that you mentioned it today. 🙂 I enjoyed “Her Forbidden Hero” as much if not more than “Hearts in Darkness” and I think everyone will love it!!
About book #1:
She’s always been off-limits…
Former Army Special Forces Sgt. Marco Vieri has never thought of Alyssa Scott as more than his best friend’s little sister, but her return home changes that…and challenges him to keep his war-borne demons at bay. Marco’s not the same person he was back when he protected Alyssa from her abusive father, and he’s not about to let her see the mess he’s become….but now she’s all grown up.When Alyssa takes a job at the bar where Marco works, her carefree smiles wreak havoc on his resolve to bury his feelings. How can he protect her when he can’t stop thinking about her in his bed? But Alyssa’s not looking for protection–not anymore. Now that she’s back in his life, she’s determined to heal her forbidden hero, one touch at a time…
- Her Forbidden Hero: A Heroes Novel (Entangled Brazen)
- One Night with a Hero: A Heroes Novel (Entangled Brazen) <— author says: “ONE NIGHT WITH A HERO, the sequel to HFH, will follow Alyssa’s brother Brady’s romantic story, but both Alyssa and Marco are in the new book!”
I read this book a few months ago. I was just sad that it was so short. I wanted it to have a better development of the characters. I’m still going to read the sequel because I’m a sucker for them.
I read “One Night With a Hero ” and is a good read.
THANKS!!! Perfect timing!!! Started it last night!
Hi Maryse,
Just read Hearts of Darkness … short, sweet and HOT.
If you want a Military-themed series you have to start Lora Leigh’s Tempting Seals ( some are novellas and some are full books … Hidden Agendas, Dangerous Games and Killer Secrets) This is continued into Elite Ops – my favorites being “Wild Card and Live Wire”.
Totally enjoyable and extremely HOT Alpha Males !!!
Enjoy !
Georgia
Thanks Georgia!! I’m on it!
