OCTOBER 5th 2021 UPDATE!!! TRILOGY CONCLUSION ALERT!!! IT IS NOW LIVE (I linked it up below)!!!
DYSTOPIAN/POST APOCALYPTIC ALERT!! This series was featured in one of our reader questions AND many of our fellow readers right here LOVED it. I think this one sounds right up my dark and creepy alley, and I AM SO IN!!
P.S. BOTH books are super-bargain priced right now!!!
Tasha: …I loved Thicker Than Blood- one of my favorite dystopians ever. I loved that it was more about the bond between the girls and survival with just a touch of romance. And I felt the characters were well written and relatable. That book got me out of a funk and put me right back in one, lol. … I also read Beneath Blood and Bone and there’s this part in it that I still have a question about and drives me crazy, though it’s a spoiler. I don’t think I can read book 3 though…
Amy: TTB is great because it is post apocalyptic with Madeline Sheehan’s tried-and-true writing style, and while there is a slow-burn romance building, the most focal relationship is the close friendship between the two women. …you have to read Thicker Than Blood. HAVE. TO. I’m serious. It’s typical Madeline Sheehan, but more like her Holy Trinity series than her MC series. It will make your heart ache in a couple of parts but it’s SUCH a great story with some hope at the end. Will you read it? Pretty pretty please?? *folds hands under chin and bats false lashes*…
Jean: Yoohoo Amy, did you hear me cursing you all the way over there on the west coast? Yeah, Thicker Than Blood…..why do you do that to me? The ending killed me!
MichelleS: I’m hafway through Thicker Than Blood. I have no clue why I abandoned it months ago, because it is awesome! I should have guessed – Madeline Sheehan… I mean really? That girl can write.
About book #1:
A true friendship never dies.
Leisel and Evelyn lost everything. Husbands. Families. Friends. Lives that made sense. All they had left was each other, and a friendship that could withstand anything… Even an apocalypse.
Until one fateful night, the marginal safety they’d come to rely on comes to a vicious and brutal end. With the help of Alex & Jami, both unlikely allies, Leisel and Evelyn are able to escape their shattered sanctuary only to find themselves face-to-face with a much altered, much crueler life where they have to find the way—and the will—to stay alive in a world they no longer recognize.
Traveling across a broken and infection-ridden country; the road-weary group are pitted against endless violence, improbable circumstances, and the ultimate loss.
Everything comes at a price—especially safety, the cost of which could very well strip them of the one thing they’ve tried so hard to cling to: their humanity.
Yet along with all the trials they’re forced to endure, there’s also hope in the form of love. Having loved Leisel from afar, Alex attempts to put the pieces of her fractured heart back together.
But in such a savage world, is there room for love?
In a place of nightmares-made-reality, where the living should be feared far more than the dead, an unbreakable friendship and a love amongst all odds can mean the difference between life and death.
There are friends…
And then there are Leisel and Evelyn.
NOTE TO READERS: **Thicker than Blood is the first in a series consisting of several STANDALONE novels all based in the same setting.**
SERIES READING ORDER:
Love these stories. I’ve read Beneath Blood and Bone twice and in my world that’s high praise. Book 3 can’t come fast enough.
I haven’t read book two – I was so “numb” after book one. But I am putting it on my TBR list for 2017 because M. Sheehan is an amazing writer and I need something MORE from this story!!
Now I’m dying to know what happens at the end of book #1… and I shall find out!! Er… by reading it, of course. 😉 No spoilers for me. I’m excited for the potential jaw dropping.
GAH! I still can’t pick up book 2 yet. Not after the awful things he did and caused in book 1. *sigh* Y’all know I will eventually give in and read it though.
And YES, Maryse…you do need to read this one and find out what had us all worked up. I know you love her other books, and this one won’t disappoint!
