Okay so this is the new release that had so many of us excited on Friday. Now, I haven’t read it yet, and by accident, I read the synopsis of book #1 (which gave me the ultimate “must-read-now” book-jolt). Why was it an accident to read that synopsis?
<— ‘Cause the PREQUEL (book # 0.5) had not yet gone live on Amazon (they were both supposed to go live at the same time). And I hear we really need to read the prequel first to get the full effect. I hear the prequel ends on a killer cliffhanger, and by me already having read the blurb of the book after it (book #1), I think I already know how the prequel ends… Eeep! 😉
But! It doesn’t matter to me at all that I think I already know… ’cause OMG I am intrigued! This one sounds like it’s going to be SO dark and crazy. Rock-star, bad boy, underground fighter. And he meets her. And then (from what book #1’s blurb tells me… OMG!!!!!!). That’s all I want to say for now. The reviews are slowly starting to come in on our Facebook page…
Lori: Maryse, and anyone that is wanting to read Torn From You by Nashoda Rose, you really should read the novella With You first…
Tracie: Totally agree Lori. Even though it says it’s not necessary, to get the total impact of the book the novella SHOULD be read.
Maryse’s Book Blog: I want to read it first, too.
Lori: Yes, Maryse you need to read it first to get the full impact!!
Tracie: Novella was kinda rushed, only 80 pages, but it did it’s job. It established a connection and made you like the characters. Then WHAM! Book 1 starts and your like WTF????? I’m only 30% and I still don’t know what’s happening.
Johanna: The novella was just ok.. It was rushed but I was able to connect with Emily and see how she landed in this position.. I’m still kinda shocked…
Kassandra: Weeeeeeeell, Torn From You is AMAZING !!!!!!! Everyting you want in a book?? You have it. It’s just…. insane. 5 +++++ stars. Read.It.Now.
Lori: I haven’t decided how I’m rating yet…it’s a little rushed, sooo much happens in this book – but there are parts I’ve been waaaaay into…I’ve really enjoyed it! There are some details/emotions missing at times that would have made it a 5 star, but I love the story! … I could kinda guess what was happening early on, so that took some of the impact away…but I’ll definitely read the next one.
Okay. Yep, good enough for me. I’m trying it!
About the prequel (yep… That’s the only part I’m going to tell you about):
Sculpt is an illegal fighter. He’s also the lead singer of a local rock band. No one knows his real name. And from the moment I met him, he made me forget mine.
In order to convince Sculpt to give me self-defense lessons, I had to follow his one rule—no complaining or he’d walk. I didn’t think it would be a problem. I could handle a few bruises. What I hadn’t anticipated was landing on my back with Sculpt on top of me and my entire body burning up for him.
I tried to ignore it. I failed of course. And having a hot, tattooed badass on top of me week after week, acting completely immune to what he was doing to me—it was frustrating as hell, so I broke his rule—I complained.
Then he kissed me.
- With You <— killer cliffhanger 😉
- Torn from You (Tear Asunder) <– no cliffhanger on this one.
- Overwhelmed by You (Tear Asunder)
I literally just finished this book. It was beyond amazing! Gut wrenching angst, and an incredible story. I’m looking forward to Kat and Ream’s story in the next book. I’d say 4 1/2 – 5 stars because their were some things I didn’t like but it was definitely worth reading.
Thank you so much for letting us know, Rori! 🙂 I can’t wait!!
I am 50% in and LOVE it. The first half is dark and painful but now the pain is worth it, so far. I think the prequel is a must read as it really gives you the opportunity to connect with the characters.
Enjoy!
I’m also 50% in and loving it, I couldn’t put it down but eventually had to when the clock said 2am. The prequel definitely helps to set up the story and show the connection between the characters. I can’t wait to see how this story ends. I think you will love it.
I really enjoyed the first half, but now I’m struggling to finish it. Idk, it’s sounding too much like a KA novel and there’s only one KA in my book. Maybe it’s just my book slump after reading Out Of Turn. I just can’t get into anything else. I’m liking everyone’s enthusiasm over this book though.
I’m 60% in as well and the second half isn’t as good as the first half so far. Hopefully that changes!
I think it’s important to read the novella first…
I’m only 25% in but I’m finding it so frustrating!
I am only at 50% of this book and cannot put it down but did just to make this comment! You have to read these books!!!!!
Oh My Gosh I loved every minute of this book I was so mad with Sculpt but he totally redeemed himself and I cant wait until Kat and Reems story. theres so much that I want to talk about but I dont want to ruin it incase someone comes and reads my comment before they read the book ugh. GOD I NEED A READING BUDDY
I struggled a touch at the beginning. It was so dark that I skimmed some of the “yuck”, but by 20% I was all in! Loved this book and can’t wait for the rest of the characters’ stories to be released. The author did a great job fleshing out all the characters and you really feel connected to their stories.
I have read Torn From You, and I have to say I went through every emotion known to man kind.!!!! I seriously couldn’t put this book down, even at times when I wanted to I couldn’t. The anger I felt , the horror , the disgust, the pain, the humility, I cried a bucket load of tears, and still weeks later I was talking about this book to anyone who would listen. I eagerly await the next one in this series.
