Highly HIGHLY recommended by my friend JackieĀ (when we were ranking our favorite heroes), and also recommended by SO many others (Amber and Lis to name a few more friends). Adamant discussions erupt in excitement when these guys are brought into the mix (note: this is GAY – m/m – rock star romance).
While Jackie was reading book #1 she emailed me and I knew EXACTLY how she felt:
“… but I wanted to share this book with you. It’s called Conquest by S J Frost. Its Rockstar based so it will tick boxes for you . The thing is , I’m about 1/3 of the way through it and I really care. Really really care what happens to these two guys. (It’s m/m – forgot to mention that.) You know when you are reading a book and its all happy and content – at the start of the relationship – well I’m still there. But I know its all going to go bad real soon.”
Since then, it has been so often recommended. And I’m going to admit, as much as I enjoyed another gay romance series (Bear, Otter & the KidĀ –Ā I totally connected to and crushed on the heroes), and considering how much my friends connected to these guys, I’m definitely going to read!:
“Jesse and Evan from SJ Frost’s Conquest series. Two gay rockstars – one famous and at the top, one young and up and coming. I adored them both. The sex scenes were seriously hot (considering I’m female and hetrosexual) but they were just generally such open, loving and devoted people. I adored them both and can’t split them so they are joint placed.”
and then:
Jackie: Have you ever read the Conquest Series by S J Frost? Ā Its about a rock group – similar feel to ‘Sinners’ but m/m. I adored that series – especially Evan and Jesse. Ā That will be my next ‘nag the ass off Maryse’ project.
Bitchie:Ā Jackie, I love SJ Frost, her conquest books are some of my favorites, especially the very first two!
Christine:Ā Know you love rock stars, reading a book called Conquest and its about two courgous men one already a star and one up and coming. Ā They fall in love and its thier story. Ā Definately worth a look.
Sara:Ā I’m excited you are *exploring* this new genre, Maryse.. I’m addicted actually. TJ Klune is awesome. (Burn is good too) that Faith and Fidelity series is really good..and Conquest series. there are so many and I think I love them because they are different sets of problems that these couples have to deal with and hey… more guys!..
About book #1:
Vocally gifted singer, Jesse Alexander, has dreams of taking his band, Conquest, to the top. Evan Arden was thought of as a musical genius when at the height of his career he vanished from the spotlight. Together, their relationship is just as intense as their music careers. With success pushing down on them, Jesse must decide between his life of music, or his life with Evan.

Finally!!!!!!!!! I am so glad you’re going to read these!! We’ve been telling you about them forever. You are gonna love Jesse and Evan. Their first night together, I raced to my computer and found Pachelbel’s Cannon in D minor cause I JUST HAD to hear it. ( you’ll have to read the story to understand why….)
You will root for this couple, believe me. Even when their both being stupid. Evan is just…and Jesse is sooo…ummm. Together, they are electric. I’ve re-read this series twice now and loved it each time. The other charaters in the story are just as fleshed out as the two main ones. You’re gonna love Black Heart Down. LOVE IT!!! Oh and after you read BHD, make sure you read, BEAUTIFUL HARMONY about Robbie and Kyler. Its so sweet!
I can’t wait to read your review on this series. I will say that Key’s to Love was not my favorite of the series and I usually skip it when re-reading, but it’s still worth a one-off. Also, just FYI, the next book in the series, FEELING THE RHYTHM about the drummer Brad DelFini, hopefully will be out by the end of the year! Cannot wait!
Yeah, yeah, I know. I’m a little obsessed with this series!! Hopefully you will understand why when you read it.
LOL! I LOVE your enthusiasm, and you guys make me want to read this sooooooo bad!!! Just wait until Jackie sees this post. hahaha!!!!
I know. Jackie is going to be just as excited as me! I need to let Amber know you’re gonna finally read it!! Yay!!!
I adore this series, particularly the first two, and Black Heart Down.
But you STILL haven’t actually read them!!!!!! xxx
Maryse – seriously you will love these two boys. Lissy and I havre spent many an hour drooling over them and Sherry went on a mission to ‘find’ her perfect Jesse and Evan. They are just too georgous! the first two books are definitely the best, probably because i loved them so much that the other characters didn’t stand an earthly. But they are all really good reads. And Lissy – I play Pechebels Canon to kids in school to calm them down sometimes…. little do they know I’m replaying ‘that scene’ over and over in my head!!
Honestly Maryse – you will love it. I was spot on with BOATK, and I only recommend them to you if I’m sure you’ll like them.
xxx
We have spent a lot of time talking, wishing, day-dreaming about these two. Jackie, I love the music. I can just picture it…Evan standing there, violin in hand, no lights save for the moon and Jesse enthralled sitting on the piano bench just watching…***sigh*** so sweet. OOps..Sorry, Maryse. Guess I should had screamed spoilers!!! š
The first two books are the best until you get to Black Heart Down and then it pick’s right back up again.
Man…almost wish I was reading them for the first time.
Read them soon, Maryse!!!
