I’ve decided to jump into one of the top seventeen books on my current TBR list. This one’s been on it for TWO years!! TWO!!! Not because it didn’t sound like “my thing” (’cause OMG this one was so obviously going to turn me inside out and make me cringe and… maybe… make my heart… uhhh – well. You get the picture). Let’s just say I knew I was heading for extreme personal conflict.
This was so obviously TOTALLY up my alley (even if I didn’t want to admit it out loud), ’cause it was full-on taboo. Risqué. I knew I was in for full-on emotional connection and quite possibility heart-ache. Plus… the HUGE number of awesome reviews on Amazon meant that many felt it BIG TIME. And then my own trusty fellow readers (that had already read it) chimed in to tell me they went nuts for it ( a ton of them!). Some are still “rocking in the corner”, I’m hearing some serious sob-stories, and how you have no choice but to think about this for days on end, even… many months later.
THAT is my kind of book. I don’t care how uncomfortable it makes me, I don’t care how badly it tears my heart out (or makes my heart soar even though in “real-life” I should be “shocked and appalled”), I don’t care how crazy this one is going to get. By our fellow readers reactions alone, I already know: THIS BOOK is why I love to read.
Even some of our fellow favorite authors loved it!:
Katie Ashley: I read that book years ago, and I’m still just…yeah, no words, lol. Kinda like Living Dead Girl.
Lynetta Halat: This makes me SO happy and SO nervous for you! One of my favorite books ever! Book coma!
Katie Ashley: We’ll know to send help when you’re rocking in a corner and cant’ communicate, lol
Lorena: Oh sigh, broke my heart a little.
Leslie: Dear god, I literally JUST finished this book. It was…well, you’ll see.
Michelle: I read it over the summer. A little too crazy for me lol
Louise: I haven’t read it. Yet. You are one brave woman!
Araceli: Henriquez, see if Maryse’s Book Blog can read it you can too! Be prepared I sobbed like a baby but I loved it.
Maureen: OH.MY.GOD. This book. THIS BOOK!!! One of my all-time favorites. We’ll be here for moral support when you’re done….
My head… well it knows the obvious ewwww-factor. But this author is AWESOME!!! AWESOME!!!! CRAZY daring, a magnificent, brilliant writer that knows how to draw us in from the start, connect intensely, visualize everything without even having to try, and best of all… make us feel what we KNOW we shouldn’t.
And I’m halfway through.
So goodnight folks. I’m in my pj’s and getting ready to have my mind blown. Or maybe my heart. Likely both. Join me if you’d like (I’d love it). But BEWARE OF TABOO!!!!!!! They may be in high school, and they may be brother and sister but… er. Well. I’m about to find out. 😉

I looked it up yesterday and was totally intrigued but thought I’d wait and see what you thought about it Now I’m so tempted to pay the price and read the book I’m not able to work anymore and have to scrounge fir my book money as I hate asking the hubs for it so I’m getting more eeekkk should I pay that much for an ebook conscious but you’ve made it sound so worth it!!
Oh wow, yes I didn’t remember the price of it!! I bought this literally TWO years ago (maybe even three), and finally pulled it back up for good. But yep, you’re right! It’s definitely not one of our bargain priced reads.
Ugh..this book has been sitting in my TBR list for i dunno how long. I’ve been trying to get the nerve to read it given the sensitive material…I may tackle it this weekend when the kiddies aren’t home.
So I was intrigued and decided to look up a bit more about the storyline before I even thought about buying it, whether it spoiled it for me or not. And wow. Now I know. Im really interested to hear Maryse’s thoughts. Im all in for a darkish taboo read but this might be too much…..hmmm…..
Oh Maryse, this one will hit you where it hurts and stick with you after you finish it. I’ll be very surprised if you don’t cry with this one. A bottle of hibiscus vodka for you if you don’t. 😉 I didn’t expect to connect to or sympathize with Lochan and Maya, so the kick in the gut I got was unexpected. Seriously?!? A year after reading it and I am getting all teary-eyed right now?!? WTH…
Oh gosh Maryse!!! Hope you survive (of course you’ll survive it!!). *sniffle sniffle* 😉
This was a book that stayed with me for a long time.I still remember some of the emotions I had.It took me to a gray area, and I was OK with it.
OMG Maryse! This is one of my favorite books of ALL-TIME!!!! I kind of stumbled upon it at my local library and was so flippin wow’d that it STILL remains in my TOP 10 (or so) READS OF ALL-TIME list! I’m so glad your giving it a chance! It sounds so much worse than it really is. Somehow the Author makes their relashonship so beautiful. I never thought I’d root for a brother and sister to have a HEA as much as I did for them. It is a tearjerker though so get your tissues ready. You WILL need them.
I just don’t think I can do it. I’ll let you read it first then check your review. You have forged ahead on so many others and convinced me, so I’ll go with that 🙂
I had it on my TBR list forever and was almost afraid to touch it. I finally did and WOWZER!!! What a book. It tore my heart out. Literary genius.
Agreed Stacy & Cat. I sat in silence when I finished last night. Blinking.
Next I’m reviewing it. 🙂 5 stars from me!
I want to read this book but on Amazon i got it:
This title is not currently available for purchase. Oh Marise what i shoul do? ( lol!) I love taboo!! Lol!
I just finished reading it… I think I’m going to need therapy now. What an ending. My heart breaks for these kids.
You are so much stronger than me. I’m so not touching that !!! lol
OMG, The Ending ….. Holy Crap. I read this when it first came out and it stuck with me for a LONG time. Even now I know it’ll be one that I never forget. Glad you were brave enough to read.
I just finished Raw by Bella Aurora This was a page turner. Loved Lexi and Twitch. I don’t want to give anything away by saying to much. So just read it. Let me known what you think.
I just finished this book last night. Even though parts were hard to read I’m glad I did. It’s one that left me crying. But after having a chance to think about it I feel like it was truly a love story. It’s one you will always remember. If you love this book I would recommend Me Before You.
I really want to read this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Read it jaime!!! You’ve been sufficiently warned, so if you still want to read it… READ IT!!!! 😛
