Midnight Awakening by Lara Adrian
My stupid Sony E-Reader decided it doesn’t want to store any new bookmarks, so I’m reviewing this one by ear (and not by earmarks). As I mentioned in a recent review, this book was much better than I expected. Knowing that we wouldn’t be granted the whole “OMG I’m in love with a vampire” fiasco (since the heroine was already a part of their world), I thought there might not be enough tension to make it exciting. Tegan (the hero) however, was just jaded enough about life, to make his venture into love, gripping.

Latest Vampire Related News – 12-16-09
It’s been awhile since I’ve caught up on my paranormal/vampire news fix, so I thought I’d catch up, and catch you all up too (here’s the thing…I need to catch up BIG time, so some of this may already be old news to you…)
In a past tweet, Laurell K. Hamilton indicated that the Anita Blake TV series that was set to air on the IFC channel will not be airing (if I can recall it correctly, the direction wasn’t entirely to her liking)…AH! Found a link to her blog post, and here it is! Quite an interesting post, actually, as she goes into some detail about why the plans have fallen through, and then a few tidbits about each of our favorite characters, and what they mean to her (whaaaattt? Almost killed off Jean-Claude – NEVER say such a thing!! Take it back now!)
Book Review – Kiss of Crimson by Lara Adrian
Kiss of Crimson: A Midnight Breed Novel (The Midnight Breed Series Book 2)
I’m really loving this series. It was a great choice following my Dark-Hunter marathon. I feel like I’m smack-dab in the middle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood world, again. While the stories, characters and situations are different, the “feel” of this series is similar (and very well written). From the Warriors, the villains, the vampire society and politics, and of course, the passionate encounters, if you are looking to read a series like BDB, this is it!
Book Review – Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian
Kiss of Midnight (The Midnight Breed, Book 1)
Hot! Hot! Hot! Loved this one, and it succeeded in giving me butterflies in my stomach! Books that can do that are my favorite. This book was fast paced enough to not be boring, but reined in enough to allow us the opportunity to savor each romantic encounter, so that the developing relationship felt real. It started off in lust, escalating to a near uncontrollable passion and had the perfect amount of tension and resistance (and the hero resisted for good reason).
Book Review – Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Born of Ice
The third book in the trilogy (that shall soon be expanded upon), was an easy read. While it didn’t have the same angst that book one and two did (the hero quickly figured out what his “heroine” was really up to), the book did have some action, romance, and acted as an intro to the new characters to come. While we do get a hint of Nykyrian and Syn, this book revolves around the adult lives of their children, who greatly take after their fathers.
Devyn (Syn & Shahara’s adult son), is a wealthy doctor/assassin/Ex-League Soldier/superduper-pilot, and all around amazing hunk, that is wanted by…everyone in one way shape or form (the two most prominent threats being “The League” who want him dead for taking down every soldier that attempted to arrest him, and Merjack because he hates Syn and everyone associated with him, for something or other – I think it was for taking down his entire family or something).
