Another day of being human. What shame. Maryse told me my vampire powers should be kicking in soon, osmosis at it’s best ya know. If anything reading the House of Night series has set me back. I know tons of people out there love it, but let me tell you, it’s no Vampire Academy. Such a shame, because I had high hopes. In better news I have found some new books to read.
Title: Hex Hall Book One by Rachel Hawkins (YA)
What’s going on: Girl finds out she is a witch, does a love spell wrong, gets sent to “Freak High” for the paranormal. Why I want to read it: Witches! I mean I am a Harry Potter nerd squared….so a school full of freaks that include faeries, witches, weres and an outcast vampire? Count me in!

Book Review – Awakened by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast
Awakened (House of Night)
Well, this concludes my House of Night marathon, and it’s been quite the journey. From early “meh” moments, to absolute elation. From heart pounding situations that had me staying up all night indulging, to crestfallen disappointment. I developed an almost unhealthy preoccupation with Erik’s tenuous situation and became bitter towards the author’s mid-series change of heart. And then, a bit of an upturn when the author distracted me with a new and intriguing focus. One thing I can say for sure. This series made me feel and overall, that’s a good thing. Unfortunately, the last few made me feel more drained and aggravated than hungry for more.
Today’s Paranormal Book Releases – February 22nd 2011
Okay today is wicked-crazy with the amount of must-reads being released. Already I have 5 on my list (for series that I’m already familiar with) let alone another three that I’d like to read but need to catch up on the series first. On my *now* list includes Kathy Love, Jeaniene Frost (dying for more Bones), Adrian Phoenix (Dante *heart*), Molly Harper (this one looks like silly fun) and Richelle Mead. But then, I also need to start the Sabina Kane series (I hear it’s really good), “The Hollows” and oh….it just doesn’t end.
