Following my heart, one book at a time...
Oh wow!! I was just looking up (and hoping to start) a fairly popular Rock Star book from a few years ago. 
I had been stalking this book for awhile, but it was in print only, at that time. I just realized it’s available as an e-book now, and I’m almost ready for it! And… while this is certainly a beautiful cover, it was NOT the one that made me stare, for minutes on end.
It was the sequel (Dark Star) that made me blink. And blink. And stare. And blink. And stare and stare. Then I closed it.
My mom… *grins*
It is the coolest thing to be able to share in this hobby with her. She’s the one that started it all for me. She used to read to me before bed every night, she taught me to read and sound out words. We’d go to libraries and scour book fairs together every weekend and snuggle on the couch for hours reading quietly. Her Harlequin romances, her Stephen King novels… my Judy Blume books, my Sweet Valley Highs… her Stephen King novels. 😉 Hehe. My love of horror started young, and she didn’t tell me no, so I read those too!
The Bronze Horseman (The Bronze Horseman Trilogy)
I don’t have much experience with historical romance novels. In fact, I tend to bypass them, and in all honestly, I don’t even know WHY I usually choose to skip them for something contemporary. It’s not that I haven’t enjoyed those that I’ve already read. As I think back to them, I’ve loved them all. Books about Highlanders, some from the Victorian era, and then some, errrr… okay. Mostly Highlanders. 😉 LOL! Each and every one of them has captured my attention and I’ve found myself completely absorbed and dreaming of a different time. A different way of living. A different way of loving. Some occasional scenes depicting appalling male tendencies and customs, to be sure, but these romance authors sure have a magic touch in making some of them hero-worthy. I don’t think I’d want to test my luck in a real-life “time travel” experiment, but in the land of fiction, these guys seem just as wonderful and exciting as our contemporary bad-boys.
My mom read “Unlocked” and absolutely LOVED it. She emailed me just to tell me I had to read it, mentioned that she realizes historical romance is now her favorite genre. When I told her that it was part of a series that was getting all sorts of great buzz, and I swear, I think she *squee’d*.
So here’s a tidbit from her email she sent me:
“Unlocked: I LOVED that book… very easy to read and very quick… I started it this morning and at 3:25 I’m done… but I loved it all the way through.

You guys were NOT kidding when you recommended this book. I have been reading non-stop since late last night, with only a few hours here and there of sleep to keep me coherent. And I’m only 47% in but have NO desire to stop reading, to put it down, to get back to my own life (except, of course, to let you know as to why I’ve been so quiet all of the sudden).
Recommendations started pouring in, and I knew I had to start this trilogy ASAP. I promptly posted the reading order guide, and added it to my main “to-be-read” list. And when I received this Facebook comment by Kristina, that cinched it. It had to be next:
