WEDNESDAY BREAKING NEWS UPDATE!!! We found 12 more goodies, and I added them right at the top so you can’t miss ’em!!!
Vodka On The Rocks (The Uncertain Saints Book 3) by Lani Lynn Vale <— JUST WENT LIVE! MC ENFORCER EGGS ON A DRUNK WOMAN AT A BAR TO DEFEND HERSELF!! TEE HEE!! It sounds so fun! “Casten Red, the unofficial enforcer of The Uncertain Saints MC, wasn’t necessarily trying to urge her into doing anything illegal, and he definitely wasn’t trying to get her into a fight with a group of men who were all twice her size. No, he only intended to give her the confidence to stand up for herself, just a little nudge in the right direction. How the hell was he supposed to know she’d go all Chuck Norris on them and put three of them in the hospital with concussions?”
- The Gate to Everything (Once Upon a Dare Book 1) by Ava Miles <— JUST WENT LIVE! FAMOUS FOOTBALL STAR that was dumped by his girlfriend who was done waiting for him but… “When Jordan wins the Super Bowl, he tells himself it’s enough. But he can’t get Grace out of his mind. When she calls, insisting they meet, he eagerly agrees. Only to discover he’s going to be a father…“
- She’s Mine by Sam Crescent <— JUST WENT LIVE! “…he’s the bad boy that all the girls want…and have had. How can she even fall for a guy like that?”
Essential Oils for Healing: Over 400 All-Natural Recipes for Everyday Ailments by by Vannoy Gentles Fite with Michele Gentles McDaniel and Vannoy Lin Reynolds <—JUST WENT LIVE & THIS IS COLLEEN HOOVER’S MOM & SISTER YOU GUYS!! 😀 Her mom has this great little shop that I went to once with all sorts of natural and healing products, and I went crazy in there! I’m so thrilled that she has this book out! 😀
The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy E. Reichert <— I ONE-CLICKED IT!!! This one sounds sweet (and I love coconut cake), plus it’s bargain-priced! She’s struggling to keep up with her amazing restaurant and then she gets a terrible review! And then she meets her reviewer… “The day that Al’s mean-spirited review of Luella’s runs, the two cross paths in a pub: Lou drowning her sorrows, and Al celebrating his latest publication. As they chat, Al playfully challenges Lou to show him the best of Milwaukee and she’s game…” OH!!! And the “Whispersync” audio version is bargain priced too if you already have the ebook!
Bonnie: This was a good book. And I know of someone that made the coconut cake from the recipe at the end of the book and they said it was DELICIOUS! 🙂
DG: I loved The Coincidence of Coconut Cake! Great read!
bev: I have had my eye on it since reading a positive review when it came out, so one click when it went on sale. Love the cover though makes me hungry.
Ela: I LOVE ALL THING COCONUT, well maybe not all, don’t care for coconut shrimp or the water that seems to be all the rage, but cake HECKS YEAH
Against Her Will by Serita Stevens & Jo Schaffer <— SHE’S ADMITTED INTO A MENTAL INSTITUTION ALERT! Oh wow… this one sounds amazing, and it’s super-bargain priced right now!! “…the only way I can avoid charges is to voluntarily admit myself into Oak Dale, a psych ward for crazy teens. I don’t belong there — my parents are the real nutjobs —but it’s not like I have a choice...”
- No Kissing Allowed by Melissa West <— OH OH… HE’S HER BOSS ALERT! SUPER-BARGAIN ALERT!! She hooks up with a random guy before starting her new job…”On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt-her new boss’s boss. Talk about failing the “no fraternizing with coworkers” policy on an epic level…“
- Stars in Their Eyes (Caught Up in Love Book 4) by Lauren Blakely <— SHE’S A PHOTOGRAPHER THAT WANTS TO GET INTO THE WEDDING OF THE YEAR ALERT! “He’s the last person Jess should trust, but he’s her only ticket in. William Harrigan wants one thing – to stay in L.A. past college graduation. With a student visa set to expire, the clock is ticking. When he lands a gig that pairs him with the beautiful blond spitfire Jess, he’s scored his best shot at living out the American dream. Winning her trust would be a whole lot easier, however, if he didn’t have ulterior motives…” bargain priced!!!
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (The Mara Dyer Trilogy Book 1) by Michelle Hodkin <— WHAT A BLURB-JOLT & AMY FOUND IT FOR US!!! It’s ON SALE and Amy says: “<— Also really good!” Kim & Taylor agree!
Kim: “I normally don’t rely on YA to give me the sexual tension and bad-ass heroes I crave in books but I was pleasantly surprised with The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. I loved the banter between Mara and Noah, and Mara and Jamie. Best dialogues ever! And Noah Shaw. Noah f*cking Shaw. He’s got such a dirty mind (and mouth). I can’t believe he’s a teenager! Sure he’s more worldly (and rich and British) than your average teenage boy but the stuff that comes out of his mouth makes me feel that he’s in his 20′s or something. This book was also one of the creepiest reads I’ve had in a while. I finished it at 2:00AM and had trouble sleeping. Definitely worth a read if you’re into paranormal-romance books.” and Taylor agrees!
Taylor: “My favorite book boyfriend will always be Noah Shaw from The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. Smart ass extraordinaire with an accent.”
- The One That Got Away: A Novel by Bethany Chase <— Amy found us this super bargain too, saying “<— This one was pretty good!” She’s got her life set, and she’s happy and waiting for her boyfriend to propose but when her ex-flame comes back into town and becomes her client… “Eamon proves to be Sarina’s dream client, someone who instinctively trusts every one of her choices—and Sarina is reminded of all the reasons she was first drawn to him back in the day. Suddenly her carefully planned future with Noah seems a little less than perfect. And when tragedy strikes, Sarina is left reeling.”
- What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman <— TWO GIRLS GO MISSING FROM A MALL… “How do you kidnap two girls? Who—or what—could have lured the two sisters away from a busy mall on a Saturday afternoon without leaving behind a single clue or witness? Now a clearly disoriented woman involved in a rush-hour hit-and-run claims to be the younger of the long-gone Bethany sisters…” It sounds so good and it’s on super-sale (thank you Amy!!) 😀
- Rosemary and Rue: Book One of Toby Daye (October Daye Series 1) by Seanan McGuire <— HALF-FAE, HALF-HUMAN ALERT! Amy found us this super-bargain one, too! “Outsiders from birth, these half-human, half-fae children spend their lives fighting for the respect of their immortal relations. Or, in the case of October “Toby” Daye, rejecting it completely. After getting burned by both sides of her heritage, Toby has denied the fae world, retreating into a “normal” life. Unfortunately for her, Faerie has other ideas…”
Okay now, back to yesterday’s regularly scheduled programming… 😉
The first big NEW RELEASE of the month, and that one there to the left already has my attention! Not only it it a fake relationship situation (for an inheritance), but they have to produce an HEIR!!! Tee hee!!! And SHE HATES HIM. Everyone loves Kendall Ryan, so this one’s just gotta be good.
And what else looks extra good to me? Playing with Monsters (’cause Grey 5-starred it, and she said it’s her first 5-star in awhile, and I hear the “hero – or should I say anti-hero, is a horrible jerk-face. Like maybe worse than Barrons? WHAT WHAT WHAAAAAT? Music to my book-ears!), Virtually Impossible (Lauren Stewart Dark Water fans were waiting on this one, and it’s finally live. I’m reading book #1 right now), Beneath Broken (hot cop, but she’s afraid to fall for him), Damage Me (Heartbroken military hero comes home and finds comfort with his best friend’s little sister), Next to You (Rugby Star is her fake boyfriend alert!), Magic (’cause it’s Danielle Steele, and it’s about marital strife and three couples).
Also, a few blogs and I are hosting a giveaway together so make sure to enter that. It’s for a Kindle Paperwhite, and we each selected one of our recent favorites to load into it for the winner, and one of the bloggers selected Moonshot! Check out the one I selected (and the Rafflecopter link is there to enter, too).
P.S. ➔ Follow me (and Pimmie AND Hobbit – my sweet puppies – yep, I have a new addition!) on Instagram? That would be SO cool!!!
P.P.S. Let me know if I’m missing any or if you loved any (from this list or elsewhere). P.P.S. Don’t have a Kindle? No problem! Amazon offers various free Kindle apps and a free Kindle Cloud reader for any and ALL of us to use. You can either use the free Kindle App for your smartphone, tablet, AND your desktop computer (just like you’re using a Kindle, but right through your web browser <— No need to download anything!)
Now… take a look at all of the goodies we found (and I’ll keep adding as I find more):

- Playing with Monsters by Amelia Hutchins <— GREY 5-STAR LOVED IT ALERT!! Grey: “I am reading Playing with Monsters by Amelia Hutchins and FLOVING it. Seriously, it’s a great book. It could be a 5 star read for me…and I haven’t give out a 5 since Dangerous Girls way back in February…” and MichelleS is reading it too! “I started Playing With Monsters. He’s such an @$$, but I am not sure it’s a lovable @$$ like Ryder or Barrons. She may have tried too hard and made him actually unlikable. We shall see. I will keep going.”
Moonshot by Alessandra Torre <— RELEASED A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO BUT SO MANY ARE LOVING IT! (here’s my Book Review)
Jan:I’m 34% into Moonshot and really liking it. Had to stop reading cos it feels like something bad is about to happen. I need a break to calm myself for the train wreck I think is coming. Nooooooooo……….. Be strong, Jan. Be Strong. Think I’ll go and do some mindless housework for a while before bracing myself to read on. Huh. Maybe I’m imagining it and all will be well for my trusty H and h. But I don’t think so……….. :-/
Lisa: Started Moonshot and loving it so far. Chapters are quick and punchy so far so Im intrigued about the slow burn.
Cheryl: OMG. At 50% and NO. I can’t believe what just happened!! This book is officially killing me now.
Jan: I’m most of the way through Moonshot now and those butterflies are there all right. I’m with you Maryse. Loving the love story but wondering why the murder mystery is there, really. That part of the story seems a bit underdeveloped or even unnecessary. I think it would need to be a longer book to fully develop the mystery part. But I LOVE Chase and Ty, both separately and together. I’m nervous about the ending, though….. :-/ *bites fingernails*
Ricochet (A Vigilantes Novel Book 1) by Keri Lake <— I LOVE THIS ONE!!!!! And it’s super-bargain priced. Here’s my Book Review.
- Blood Born (Vampire Book 1) by Linda Howard <— BARGAIN PRICED!!
- End of Day (Jack & Jill Series Book 1) by Jewel E. Ann <— Marina reminds us of this one! “I know I’ve pushed the Jack and Jill series a lot but just wanted to give a heads up that book one, End of Day, is FREE on amazon right now. There is a new book of Jewel E. Ann’s which is coming out in July. It’s called One and it’s a standalone but does involve characters from the series. So I think would be best to read the series first. This series is truly sooooo good!!”
- Ignite (Defy, Book 2) (Defy Series) by Sara B. Larson <— MIDDLE BOOK in the series, but big love for it!
Fabi: Tessa, started reading Ignite this morning and was immediately sucked in like coke through a straw. I thought I’d read this before but I’m not remembering any of it. (see old age note above)
Tessa: Fabi, I really liked ignite, though it did feel like an in-between book. That’s not bad, but the first as a definite 5 star for me. …Endure is out and might have that angst I’m after.
Fabi: “I just finished Ignite. Once again Tessa, thank you so much! I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was. I definitely hadn’t read it before. An easy five stars for me.”
- A Lover’s Lament by K.L. Grayson & BT Urruela <— MILITARY HERO ROMANCE!!!
Tessa: I’m reading Lover’s Lament and really enjoying it. It’s not a 5 star read, but the emotions do feel real. I think if it started with the past, not the past distributed throughout, I’d feel those emotions more. That said, make Pov is perfect. Better than the female POV.
Lisa: Im agreeing with Tessa on Lovers Lament. A solid 4 stars for me and I loved the Hs POV. So nice to read a book based on REAL grown up problems with no convuluted plot twists….just a true CR. It did make me reflect a lot about what the families of our troops go thru. The fear. And the absurdity of ‘modern’ day conflict; when a soldier can be in the midst of a brutal fire fight one minute and then in a matter of hours be pushing a trolley around Costco with his family and trying to adapt to that change.
- The Yellow Birds: A Novel by Kevin Powers <— Lisa recommends this one, too! “Ooh. I just reminded myself of this amazing book I read. The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. About a vet trying to forget what he’s seen and done and fit back into the world. So sad and so painful to read. Really powerful.”
- Don’t Go by Lisa Scottoline <— MILITARY HERO HEARTBREAK ALERT! And along the same vein, another commenter suggested this one! ““Don’t Go” by Lisa Scottoline is good, too. It’s about a guy who’s wife dies while he’s at war. When he comes back for her funeral, his 7-month-old daughter doesn’t know him and he finds out his wife might have been having an affair while he was gone. The book was a little depressing because of what he goes through, but still super interesting and unexpected as the mystery unfolds. The war scenes are described beautifully and are filled with “gallows humor”. Love it!“
PARANORMAL/FANTASY/SCI-FI/DYSTOPIAN
Until Death We Do Part by Sherrilyn Kenyon <— SHERRILYN KENYON DARK HUNTER STORY ALERT!!! And it sounds SO good. “The only thing worse than being Dracula’s only daughter is betraying him by marrying his bitterest enemy– a dark sorcerer warlord whose powers make a mockery of the legendary monster known for impalement and massacre. Heh, heh, heh.
Sherlock.
Sherlock.
Sherlock.
Sherlock.
Sherlock.
Sherlock.
*snort*
Where?!!!
bev!!!!!! BEV!!!!!
Guess what? Me ‘n my sister are going to watch Sherlock!!!! 😀 OH YES… this time it’s true.
My sister loves Sherlock movies so she’s very interested in this series.
We’re starting first episode tonight.
You know what… why not?! I’m gonna watch Sherlock too.
OMG!!!!
We’re buddy-reading Sherlock.
I mean watching. Buddy-watching! YOU GUYS???
Let’s all buddy-watch!! It’s time.
I couldn’t get Poldark, Bev. Not on Netflix & I don’t have Amazon Prime. Bummer.
Sherlock? Hmmmmm….
Really?
Like really, really?
Like REALLY really. We’ll be starting at about 9:30pm…
So I’m dying here…not really but…the choices…I want to read PwM because I like that he is a big fat jerk (but concerned it might be a cliffy)…Moonshot…looks really promising…Until Death Do We Part really sounds intriguing especially since para is not my normal reading choice…Hitched…well the hate thing and the cover …yeah looks good to me….not to mention Next To You…love a sports book AND if I wait until midnight then Vodka on the Rocks goes live!!!!! What’s a girl to do?!?!
Your sister needs to visit more often.
How does she feel about teen territory wars in Australia?
Now, where’s Amy?
Bev, where can I watch Sherlock?
Ahhh Bev. You deserve an award for persistence!!
We should not award bullies, lisa.
LeslieM, try Netflix and Amazon has it too.
How many of you ladies still go to movie rental places, I do.
OMG.
Bev told me on the other post to check out the comments on this post.
I walked right into this one. Right smack into the Sherlock love fest.
*hides face in hands and shakes head*
Now to check out all the yummies up there…
🙂
*snort* 😛
*snicker* I’ve missed you guys. 😉
*does happy dance* I just pre-ordered my Kindle copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. I’ll buy my hardback version when it goes on sale at Target. 😛
I don’t have Amazon Prime, and sadly, I have Comcast, so no Sherlock or Poldark for me unless the library has it.
*went to library website* *requests both*
Amy, did you give up on PwM?
Ummm…I’ll bite. What’s PwM??
Bummer! No Netflix and its $9.99 for season 1 on Amazon for Sherlock. 🙁
Rental places?? Those still exist? We have the Redbox machines that you can get DVD from, but no rental places.
Playing with Monsters
Amy, Playing With Monsters
Which Sherlock are we definitively talking about here…. I want to make sure I’m not getting into the wrong one! The one on Netflix, correct? The Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock that I presume? LOL
Aah. Lots of goodies, Maryse. I’m going to check out Hitched. Also Next To You. A rugby player with a man-bun? Hell, yeah! And it looks like friends-to-lovers. I love those! I’m still in two minds about trying Playing With Monsters. Have to get in the right mood. (Altho’ if he’s something like Barrons 😀 …….)
But Ignite doesn’t seem to be available on amazon/au. To quote Leslie M: “Bummer”.
BTW finished Moonshot and really liked it. Recommended. My comments are on the Moonshot review thread.
Oooh. I got through the library Heroes are my Weakness by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Hounded by Kevin Hearne. *happy happy* Though I ended up just buying the tenth Charley Davidson. I read those too often.
I’m eyeing Blood Born. Vampires and Karen Howard. That could be spectacular or scary.
Aha…got it. Nope, haven’t started PwM yet. But holy moly, a bigger jerk than Ryder and Barrons?? That is gonna be FUN! 😀
Hey ladies! Apparently hip replacement is now an outpatient surgery. As long as I was able to walk with my walker, yep walker, and climb some stairs I was out, right after final vitals! Got lots of pills that are making me really hookie and whacked! Good times!
Oh Maryse! You know how to keep this time off for me very easy but decisions decisions decisions!
You don’t need prime or to buy the whole season to buy from Amazon. If they sell individual seasons of a show. Usually 1.99 an ep. Also, can rent—movies not tv.
Another thing, you can have Prime for 10.99 a month and cancel any time, you don’t have to do the whole year.
And yep I rent from the library & movie rental stores all the time. Don’t do redbox.
And iTunes has movies and TV too.
Hope you have a speedy recovery, Ela. At least the upsidee is plenty of reading and watching time.
Upsidee???? (I got nuthin’)
Lol Jan! You created an awesome new word! Now what’s it’s meaning???
Hope you heal up quickly, Ela!! And since when is hip replacement outpatient?!? Geez, you’re a trooper…using a walker the same day you receive a new hip. I’m impressed. 😉
DG, Playing with Monsters is so good!! 5 shiny stars from me…i’ll say it has a typical Amelia Hutchins ending:)
Amy! Hope you met Reyes as well! Huge butthole!
Thanks Amy and Jean! It sure surprised me and hope it’s all the same quick recovery as well!
‘Upsidee’ – official meaning: when you’ve had a nasty op but you know from here on in things are just gonna keep gettin’ better and better and that’s the UPSIDEE!!
*whispers*
I wonder how Sherlock is going?
We started it 15 minutes ago! 😀
Hey Maryse!!
Just to let you know that I LOVE your blog, I check it weekly,, and it has become my number one tool when finding books to read.
Here in the Dominican Republic many people do love your blog and use it!! Just so you know you’re read internationally haha.
I wish you would do a review of Up in Flames or at least talk about it a little bit… It has sort of disappointed me and I’m not sure I’m going to finish it…
Thanks!
Just finished Undecided, literally read it all day long and barely came up for air. It was such a good book, I should have jumped right in when everyone was raving about how great it was! I’ve had a silly smile on my face all day, lol. I’ve been reading up a storm these past two weeks -for me anyway 3 books in a couple weeks is a huge accomplishment. 😛 So I read The Coincidence of Coconut Cake and A Court of Mist and Fury and now Undecided- a pretty good line up, but now I’m ‘undecided’ on what to read next. Even with this awesome looking list and so many I’ve been looking forward to that have come out, I don’t know what I’m in the mood for. *sigh*
Tasha I loved Undecided! A true NA read 🙂
Finished Moonshot and loved it. The mystery though wasn’t necessary but either way the book was great. Chase *sigh* I am in love!
It’s been a while since I posted some sales so…

Tasha – I loved The Coincidence of Coconut Cake! Great read!
Happy to hear you both liked it. I have had my eye on it since reading a positive review when it came out, so one click when it went on sale. Love the cover though makes me hungry.
Finished Playing With Monsters. 5 stars for sure, I loved it! Yay, my book slump is over!!
Thanks so much Jan! I love that meaning *slips on big girl panties and sucks it up*
I LOVE ALL THING COCONUT, well maybe not all, don’t care for coconut shrimp or the water that seems to be all the rage, but cake HECKS YEAH
OMG.
R. invited Fabi to an orgy.
What am I missing??? Did auto correct do something??
1 word Ela. Almond Joy. Ok, 2.
ORGY? Oh! WHERE? I MAY OR MAY NOT LIKE TO WATCH AS LONG AS ITS GOT TASTE! Wait, a tasteful orgy? Is there such a thing?
Getting everyone drunk + running around naked + porn = orgy.
I LOVE ALMOND JOY! Although I stay away from candy and chocolates…health reasons *pouts*
Bev, this reminds me of a book! Oh I think it may be The Life of Anna? Loved that series, quite dark and nasty!
Omg is that what happens? *trades DDD for Finding Nemo* Fabi…put a shirt on! This is a respectable establishment!
I wonder if they are discovering and falling under the appeal of Cumberbatch?
I hear you Ela. I never eat sugar. Actually for the last 2 months I’ve lived on fish and veggies. And wine…occasionally 😉
Life of Anna?? No. No no.
We expect Fabi back in the same condition she leaves in.
Never eat sugar?
Fish……:/
*whines* but it’s hot
alright, but I’m NOT putting my shoes back on
:-O thank you Bev. We definitely expect Fabi back in the same condition.
I’ll eat the heck out of it this weekend!! The dessert menu is no joke.
But but but THE LIFE OF ANNY ROCKS
That’s fine Fabi. Just keep them out of the draft. *phew*
Now I want to eat some fattening pasta or crab* no clue how that relates to dessert but I prefer a mean steak to cakes, unless my SIL is cooking I GET BOTH
Ela, what kind of meds did you say they gave you?
Oh no biggie! Norco 1-2 pills every 4-6 hours. They make me loopey 🙂
aaahhh all you youngins still worried about weight and such
Fabi!? YOU ARE A YOUNGIN’
Ela are the meds keeping you pain free? Or do they just dull it?
hush Ela! I’m a single, old lady who doesn’t have to worry about what I eat (or drink) anymore. 😉 Plus, I still get to giggle over hot heroes.
Ela how long did they say your recovery time is? Do you have to do PT?
Ooh, The Hunting of The Princes by Peter F Hamilton is coming out on 26 Jul. This is bk 2 in The Queen of Dreams trilogy. I really enjoyed Bk 1 when it first came out (a couple of years ago I think?). But I’d actually forgotten about it till I stumbled on news of Bk 2 coming. Be warned, it’s a fantasy trilogy FOR KIDS. But hey, I really enjoyed it. Come on, how many of us love Harry Potter? Peter Hamilton is a well-loved sci-fi writer for adults (Great North Road is terrific) but he has had a go at kids books with these ones, and I for one will be jumping straight into book 2. If you have kids it might be a lovely set for read aloud.
Ok, I am officially retracting my previous “bummer”, as I was able to get on wait list for Sherlock at the library!! Yippee!! Who knew??
Awesome, LeslieM. I love libraries.
Maryse, don’t leave a girl hanging, did you bite your lip?
Honest, it feel like the pain is just dulled. I couldn’t sleep for sh!t! I get my firs PT today at home. I have approved leave for 3 months but I don’t think it will take that long. I’ll probably be working from home in no time, once I’m able to get to my apartment, since we’re on the 3rd floor
*snuggles Ela and gives her pain the finger!!*
😛
PT = physical therapy? That seems fast! That sucks that the meds didn’t at lease knock you out!
Yep R, physical therapy and they sure don’t seem to be wasting time!
No they aren’t! *sending you virtual coconut coffee cake*
You guys are making me hungry. Nothing better than dessert for breakfast. Mmmmmm.
Oh. Except cold leftover pizza out of the fridge. I vote leftover pizza and cake for breakfast.
Blame my mom. She used to let me and my sleepover friends have that. LOL!!! And root beer floats.
Mmm…root beer float for breakfast! Yes please!!
Haha I was so hungry rearing The Coincidence of Coconut Cake, I went and bought some coconut macaroons…mmm, they were tasty! I also loved the atmosphere of the town and discovered it’s only a 5 hour trip, future family vacation right there! 😉 Ooh those goodies up top look amazing! I’ve been waiting for the essential oils book to release, my mom got me hooked on them a month ago and I need recipes! Just downloaded samples of What the Dead Know and The Unbecoming of Mara Dryer! 😀
I am not a fan of coconut, but the book cover does look yummy.
No idea what I’m going to read next.
What were your final thoughts on Moonshot Cheryl?
I finished Curse of the Tenth Grave. Soooo good. I do like where the story is going. My only complaint it’s I figured out the main mystery too quick. Oh well. The rest of the story was so, so good.
I read the first three pages of Kevin Hearne’s book and I’m already intrigued.
… I want left over pizza for breakfast. That’s the best.
Oh Tessa! Sigh! I’m holding off on Charley cause I want it last!
R! Snatches coconut cake and runs into the day full of Pain meds! If I could only have some wine!
I give you permission to have all the virtual wine you want!
Why thank you! But it’s so not the same but I’ll take what I can get! Virtual or physical!
Wow. I officially am out of my book slump. I read an ARC today, another 5 star read That’s 2 in 2 days after not having any for 5 months!! But damn, I ugly cried. Hard. Do y’all remember what a mess I was when I read Therapy…using the Godiva wrappers as tissues… it was kinda like that… whew… now I feel the need for some shameless smut. Help! LOL!
“using the Godiva wrappers as tissues…” Is that a thing? Because I’m totally making that a thing.
Oh, it was totally a thing. It was not pretty.. but it was functional, and given the situation, it worked.
OMG…you’re comparing the ARC to Therapy?!? Holy moly, you have to let me know the title of that book when you are allowed because that one is MINE. 😀
Cold pizza…nope, never liked it but I DO love cold fried chicken. And coconut cake is actually one of my favorites so clicking that book was a given. 😉
Where’s Maryse?
*readies Therapy peanut to bonk Maryse with*
Amy… I’m backtracking through the comments and wondering what I need therapy peanuts for. Is it for… actual therapy? LOL!!!!!!! 😛
Oh Amy, I can totally share. I read Eminent Love by Leddy Harper. It is up for preorder already on Amazon, being released on July 20th. I got it last night, sat down to read first thing and couldn’t put it down. Literally sat and read the whole thing in one sitting. I reviewed it on Goodreads already. Girl, Yes. *5 stars.* Godiva chocolate wrappers disguised as tissues. All the feels. I feel a massive book hangover coming on!
Okay Grey. I hadn’t even HEARD of that one, but it sounds awesome. And that you 5-starred it makes me so excited!
Jan, I looked int the first of that series by Hamilton. It does look like something I’d like.
Amy, no to fried chicken. YUCK. No to coconuts. Again, YUCK!
Yes to wine though… *holds out a glass* White or pink preferably.
Yummy!!! Super dry French Rose! Thanks Tessa. Sticking a bottle in the fridge right now!
But the fried chicken thing? That kind of hurts my southern fried feelings…
Hey. My dad and half my siblings are from the south. I pretty much lost all ability to feel bad about offending the southern fried feelings. 😛 I want my chicken grilled preferably in a really good marinade.
Wait! I’m in California. Why in the world would I choose a french wine?
*gasp* No, Tessa…NO! You don’t get any wine after putting down my coconut and cold fried chicken.
I’m takin’ my bottle of wine and going home!!
… Well, you did choose french wine. *sips a nice light California White Zinfandel*
Did you know today is National Fried Chicken Day?
That is the weirdest coincidence ever. Lol. I wonder of KFC is having a sale. Or Popeyes.
They are. 🙂
Tessa, Ken’s Steakhouse Vidalia Onion dressing makes the BEST grilled chicken marinade.
Tessa, (obviously I’m checking updates in spurts lol) does Cali have a dry Rose? I thought it was primarily French? Although I did try a Rose Malbec from Argentina that was pretty good.
Of course! 🙂 Random fact, all french wine’s grapes originated from California. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_French_Wine_Blight All joking and teasing aside, yeah, there’s not much California doesn’t produce as far as wine. White zin just really tastes yummy.
Chardonnay girl right here and I love the cheap stuff like Barefoot .
I like dry red Zin buy I can’t do sweet. Only fruity frozen drinks!
There you go! Narefoot make a Rose and are near Modesto.
And KFC is advertising a new EXTRA chrispy chicken….yum,yum.
But not eating chicken tonight…maybe tacos….
Coconut cake, Almond Joys, the Girl Scout Samoa cookies….ALL good.
White zin….yes please!
Ok…so I finished PwM….and it was good…but I was disappointed….he was not as big a jerk as I had built up in my head….yeah, I am looking for a massive jerk…like Jethro from Indebted…but still good.
DG supposedly Pepper Winters has one coming that is worse than Q & Jethro…
I’m pretty sure that’s one is sweet though. They usually are from the US. At least I haven’t found one that isn’t…yet! But now I’m on a mission!
I think the sweet depends on the year. I bet this year’s crop will not be sweet at all. It’s been colder than average here. Last year, the same.
Wine just never taste as good as I think it will.
I love wine. I could give up food before wine.
I’m worried you guys.
Tessa, remember Princess Bride? When Maryse bit her lip, I’m think that may be the case.
LOL!!!! Okay truth.
My sister and I… we are early-to-bed early-to-rise types. So we started watching Sherlock late (when I told you last night) and we got 40 minutes into it, and when my head started nodding and I realized hers was too, I said let’s pause and restart tomorrow.
So here we are… and I’m waiting for her to be done her course so we can get back to it. 😉
We’re watching that at the retreat on Sunday!! So Fabi can recover from DDD 😉 I love that movie!
As you wish.
Princess Bride?
R, I liked Moonshot. Probably 4 star. The quick, dual pov chapters were a little dizzying, but I enjoyed the slow-build/burn of their relationship. The suspense part and the newspaper quotes I found to be a little confusing and hard to keep straight. Had to bookmark those to keep the chronology of “events” straight in my head. Had a couple different theories, neither of which were 100% correct. Enjoyable read, but then again I could read a grocery list written by AT and enjoy it!!
Has anyone read The Boss, a Billionaire Serial by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott? I have the first two volumes since they were free.
LOL!!! No, Maryse…you know *exactly* what kind of peanut I’m throwing at you. One of these days you WILL experience the turmoil of Therapy…the BOOK Therapy.
I think I gave it 4 stars (I would have to check) but what stuck with me was the angst and a$$ beating it gave my poor heart and gut. In other words…FUN!!
Woo-hoo!!! National fried chicken day!! Hot or cold (*side-eyes Tessa*), it is always yummy. 😀
I’m a KFC superfan.
But my question to y’all is… regular or extra crispy. Can you guess mine?
Hey guys, some more deals for you…

Grilled! 😀 You’re probably an extra crispy fan. The next Pepper Winters is supposed to be worse than Q? Huh.
And sorry. Jethro lost his umph for me when he revealed his reasoning. I still loved the series though.
Is it extra crispy?? Tell me it’s extra crispy!!!!
Oh man, watch this start a regular-versus-extra-crispy fried chicken war now…
Original!
Extra Crispy for Maryse. I love extra crispy but also a nice juicy filled drumstick with barbecue sauce …while chicken breat grilled but on bone and with skin, make the juices stay inside!
*juicy grilled drumstick*
Extra crispy!
Then, peel off the skin because again, ewwww. 😛
DG, I was thinking on the Jethro comparison. Those first books, maybe he was mean, but Lucian was just uncaring. I think it’s a personal thing as to which was worse. (Q is)
Nope!!!!
Regular recipe for me!!!! 😀 I’m KFC old-school. I even still call it Kentucky Fried Chicken.
*snort*
Now I’m craving it…
They have some 20 dollar meal thingy!
KFC is just easier. Less syllables so it appeals to the lazy in me.
I’m with you Maryse- old school original. Can remember the bucket of fried chicken at my grandmothers with the sides of mashed potatoes and gravy and string beans!!! My kids who are 18 and 15 didn’t have it until about 2 years ago. Needless to say they love the greasy, fried chicken!!
Personally, in my are KFC is not what it used to be, however, we have a bunch of Mariano’s grocery stores and their to go fried chicken is just delicious, Krispy, original, or grilled. And their garlic mashed potatoes are just yum!
I hate you all. I’m so craving chicken!!! I’m having fish. Again 🙁
But…tomorrow all bets (diets) are off and we’re getting chicken tenders. Anyone have a Chicken Express near them?
I was right! Original all the way. I also tend to still call it Kentucky Fried Chicken. :-/
R. I’m not sure if we do or not. Is it the one with the picture of the cock? (get your mind out of the gutter ladies, I’m talking about the feathered kind)
“get your mind out of the gutter ladies” <——- then you shouldn't have used the word cock!! 😛
Y'all can have your original recipe chicken 'cause you know what I'm eating right now? Coconut cake!! Made from scratch at this little general store (it's actually called General Store) in our little town which isn't even big enough for a full-on grocery store, which I actually love about it. They make cakes from scratch every morning and sell squares of them for about 4.50 a pop, but they are actually two-serving size. Coconut cake, chocolate fudge cake, hummingbird cake, pineapple upside down cake, chocolate eclair cake, carrot cake…the list goes on and holy moly, are they insanely yummy! 😀
We should totally BR the book sometime, and make the coconut cake.
Fell asleep on Sherlock?
*shakes head*
hahaha yes…the cock. Now I know why I like it so much!!
I know bev, right? Fighting words coming from Maryse tonight! She must have gotten a hold of some white zin!
Mmmm. Crispy chicken. With white zin. Then coconut cake ……….. your general store sounds awesome, Amy.
And you and Fabi you both made me snort. My mind stayed pure when I saw Sisters in love till you made my thoughts go down the taboo path Amy. LOL. But I did totally think naughty thoughts when Fabi mentioned the picture of the cock! Perhaps we should refer to it as a rooster?
R, trying to start a fight club again.
Lol.
Every thing is not for everyone.
*shrug*
:-0 I didn’t even think of calling it a rooster. Honestly, it doesn’t look like a rooster, it looks like one of those strurting, uppity cocks.
Hummingbird cake???
*snort* fabi said uppity cocks… *giggle*
Yes, they bake little hummingbirds in it.
OMG!!!! OMG OMG OOOMMMMGGGG!!!!
“strurting, uppity cocks”
BAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! *howls and wheezes* I can’t freaking breathe!!! OMG!!!
Fabi is practicing for the weekend!! I’m so proud!
Okay…
*catches breath*
Okay…
Grey, it’s a spice cake with bananas and pineapple that is topped with cream cheese frosting. SO yummy.
Bev…that was just wrong and put an awful image in my head!
What? Where are the strurting uppity cocks? *spins head in all directions*
She is practicing with uppity cocks?
breathe Amy, breathe
You guys are ridiculous. You always make me laugh.
I’ve been biting my tongue so I don’t squee every few minutes, but it’s getting so close.
Fast Connection (Cyberlove Book 2) – July 11th
squeeeeeeeeeeee
breathe, Fabi, breathe
lol Jan
So I am having trouble posting…..
So…I must have been a really really bad girl….Maryse, whatever I did…I am really, really sorry!!!! *sends Maryse flowers, chocolate, and wine* Apparently, it won’t let me post under DG….
So…Hummingbird Cakes are DELICIOUS!! Amy, you luck girl to have a local bakery that makes them all the time…around where I live that is a handed down recipe that you are lucky if someone makes during a holiday!
Maybe R. Renee can tell you how she fixed hers, DG?
FLT…
‘I WAS IN THE CLOSET.’ Man Candy by Melanie Harlow
Apparently…DG is a very, very bad girl…or some invisible rule changed…either way….Maryse, whatever I did…I am very, VERY sorry and can not promise that I will not do it again….*sends Maryse a bouquet of fresh picked hydrangeas, Godiva chocolate, and a bottle of her favorite wine*
Sometime yesterday…it decided that it would not let me post comments as DG….so here we are.
Amy…Hummingbird Cake is DELICIOUS by the way! Lucky girl to have a bakery that makes it…I only get it on holidays when someone makes it homemade. It ranks up there with Red Velvet….
Hummingbird CAKE??!!!!!
Oh I want some.
Maryse …awesome about the upcoming Pepper Winters book….for some reason I have been in the mood for a big ole jerk who is kinda mean to her until BAM! he then moves mountains for her kinda book.
Oh, crispy fried chicken please….and I am old school too…Kentucky Fried Chicken…goes all the way back to getting my grams a two piece snack!
So undecided as to what to read next…either Volka on the Rocks or Hitched…
Hitched is a big old cliffy…part of a 3 part series with books coming out every couple weeks. If that helps the decision making…
Thanks Amy for the info about hummingbird cake, I’d never heard of such a thing before!
OK, I’m hoping we can all behave today… *giggle*
OMG Donya!! name-gate strikes again!
There will be no behaving today! I get to meet the wild and reckless Fabi. Someone have bail money?
Thanks Grey! That helps A LOT!
R and Fabi….I am so JEALOUS…I KNOW that ya’ll will have a blast this weekend…
And I have your bail money covered…no worries!!!!
You’re the best DG!
Amy your general store sounds amazing! I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from visiting way too often, lol! Ok, I’m starting The Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer today, eep! 😀 Also you guys have to check out this movie trailer I just saw!! I’m so scared to watch it!
https://www.ew.com/article/2016/07/07/nick-jonas-goat-movie-trailer
I just used my old login. My new one I was trying out had a different little monster so I figured my old one was still available and it was. It had a different email address than my new one too. Did you use the same email for both? That might be your problem.
Amy, the reader question… Go make sure I’m right. I swear, that book is hard to forget.
I love Jill Mansell’s books. I have read almost all of them. To the Moon and Back is my favorite. They are more chick lit but they are hilarious and quirky. A great change up if you need something different.
M’kay Tessa…I’ll check it out. 😉
Oh wow…I am SUCH a nerd. I was at the hospital getting my ID badge, and here was this gorgeous display of blown glass set on and over a beautiful fountain and pond. What’s the first thing I think of? Full Tilt. At least I didn’t get teary-eyed though. *snort*
Oh god…blown glass in a hospital. What the hell? :’-(
Random fact of the day… thank you twitter. Today is National Chocolate Day!
yay! I’m making a homemade chocolate cake right now. I’ll send some over when it’s ready!
I’ll expect it to still be warm… the little fact that I’m several states away shouldn’t matter *giggle*
UPS!!
That’s funny Amy, the book I’m reading now, the h is an artist that works exclusively with glass.
FLT:

So not sure what is happening with the name thing…I didn’t change my login information yesterday …I was able to post but after 6:00 it stopped working. Kinda strange…with name as DG if I write something and then click submit…it pretends that it loading then jumps back to the top of the blog and nothing posts….
So I maybe stuck like this….*shrugs shoulders*
As in, beer goggle things?
😛
As in, I need to put on some goggles!
The goggles tend to boggle my mind…

Amy, I loved that book. What a heartbreaking beginning. *sigh*
That’s so weird that two on here are actually meeting.
Uh oh I lost Fabi…
It sounds yummy. Enough to almost forgive Amy for stealing the wine.
