Reader Question – What happened to these Renée Carlino books? And… a cover reveal of “The Last Post”!!

in Reader Questions

Jenn has a reader question, but this time it’s more along the lines of “where did these books go?”

And guess what? The author answered the question herself AND, while we’re at it, let’s have a cover reveal of her latest one and check out that OMG BLURB, shall we? ;)

Jenn asked:

Hi Maryse-

I am hoping you can shed some light on something for me. I am a HUGE Renée Carlino fan-like Tarryn Fisher and Colleen Hoover-I will click anything this author writes. Back in 2014 I shelved two books that stated were upcoming releases for her.

One was called FIRST LOVE NEVER DIES and the other DREAM CUTS. It’s been 5 years and nothing.

Now I shelved a book in Oct of 2018 and although there is still no cover yet there is a release date of 8/6/2019 and that one is called “The Last Post.” The BLURB for this OMG…

Anyway Is it possible that these older two were released but under a different title and I have actually read them? Or will they just never come to be ;-(

And Renée Carlino answered!! :D

Hi Maryse,

This is a great question because it’s also something that baffles me!! First, thank you, Jenn! I am so thrilled to read messages like this from devoted readers.

You are absolutely right about the titles. FIRST LOVE NEVER DIES is actually Swear on This Life: A Novel, and DREAMCUTS is Wish You Were Here: A Novel

Once we leak that I’m writing a book, even if I say the title is tentative, if a GOODREADS librarian puts it under my information, I cannot take it off. This is a scary and true fact. I have contacted GOODREADS multiple times and asked that they remove it, but no response.

The Last Post is a real book and…it’s finished! The release date is set for August 20th and we do have a cover. It’s brand new and was revealed today! Thank you so much, Maryse and Jenn! I’m so happy to share this with you.

I love this author too, Jenn, and I’m so thrilled she was able to straighten out this confusion for us. :D

Now… since you brought it up, and we’re on the subject, let’s check out her upcoming release, “The Last Post: A Novel. AND take a look at the cover that just so happened to be revealed TODAY!! This question was meant to be!!

See you on the other side.”

Laya Marston’s husband, Cameron, a daredevil enthusiast, always said this before heading off on his next adventure. He was the complete opposite of her, ready and willing to dive off a cliff-face, or parachute across a canyon—and Laya loved him for it. But she was different: pragmatic, regimented, devoted to her career and to supporting Cameron from the sidelines of his death-defying feats.

Opposites attract, right?

But when Cameron dies suddenly and tragically, all the stages of grief go out the window. Laya becomes lost in denial, living in the delusion that Cameron will come back to her. She begins posting on his Facebook page, reminiscing about their life together, and imagining new adventures for the two of them.

Micah Evans, a young and handsome architect at Laya’s father’s firm, is also stuck––paralyzed by the banal details of his career, his friendships, and his love life. He doesn’t know what he’s looking for, only that there is someone out there who can bring energy and spirit to the humdrum of his life.

When Micah discovers Laya’s tragic and bizarre Facebook posts, he’s determined to show Laya her life is still worth living. Leaving her anonymous gifts and notes, trying to recreate the sense of adventure she once shared with her late husband, Micah finds a new passion watching Laya come out of the darkness. And Laya finds a new joy in the experiences Micah has created for her.

But for Laya, letting another man in still feels like a betrayal to her late husband. Even though Micah may be everything she could wish for, she wonders if she deserves to find happiness again.
