Dante’s instantly smitten with the feisty, overprotective redhead…”
- My Sweet Girl by Amanda Jayatissa <— TASHA J 5-STARRED THIS ONE!!
Tasha J: I’m still reading My Sweet Girl. About to the halfway mark. I’m enjoying it. I like the flashbacks to Sri Lanka more than present day, I think. The girl is so jaded and has a foul mouth. It’s off putting. I read a review recently that said it was like a mix of Broken Girls (loved) and Girl on a Train (never read) and I’m hoping it’s a win for me.
Tasha J: I finished Sweet Girl. Took longer than I’d wanted, but I gave it 5⭐️. I could totally see why this book could be hit or miss for some people, but for me it was a hit. The last 3rd probably cemented that rating more than the lead up. Maybe 4.5⭐️…bc of my previous complaints. But, that punch. It got me.
- The Virgin Replay (Rules of Love Book 3) by Lauren Blakely <— LIVE!! LAUREN BLAKELY FAKE ROMANCE ALERT!! AND THEY ARE BOOKED INTO THE SAME ROOM… “…Then, the hotel books us into the same suite. Which means she’s showering near me, putting on itty bitty bikinis in the same room, sliding into that king-size bed wearing only a black lace cami. But I resist…until the night she tells me she’s been waiting for me to be her first...”

It’s not that she doesn’t want to visit the land of the midnight sun–far from it; she’s obsessed with the culture and is dying to see the majestic fjords for herself. What she’s not dying to do is run into her Norwegian ex-boyfriend, Anders Johansson...”
- No Peeking by Ki Brightly <— M/M ROMANCE!! <— LIVE!!
- Bailey (Untamed Sons MC Book 7) by Jessica Ames <— LIVE!!
- Sixteen Summers by Caitlin Moss <— LINDA LOVED IT!!
Linda: Just finished Sixteen Summers by Caitlin Moss. I always try to go in blind when I choose my reads. Therefore I keep my words minimal and I just sound repetitious with my recommendations!! This. Book. Was. Amazing!!
My ONLY complaint is I prefer dual perspectives but I know that’s not an issue for most of you. All the feels. Loved it!!
- The Burning Girls by C. J. Tudor <— THRILLER SUPER-BARGAIN!!!
Michele G: Maryse, I finished The Burning Girls and definitely recommend it. I’ll be giving it 4 1/2 stars. It was a creative and creepy book with a strong plot. I really enjoyed it! …The creep factor is absolutely there and I love it!!
- The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood <— LISA C LOVED IT TOO!!
Lisa C: I just finished The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. I’m pretty sure Tasha recommended it maybe?????
I have not gotten into a book this well in awhile. Slow burn deliciousness!!!!!!!! The writing is very good. It’s a fake dating trope but it was done so well. I loved the academia background of the story. Made it so interesting. All the h’s POV!!!!!! Oh and it makes you wonder what he’s thinking big time.
I borrowed it from the library but I kinda want to read it again. I loved it that much!!!!!!!

Aimee: I also listened to It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover on audible. It was really good.. trigger warning with that one if anyone was ever abused. It had me with anxiety and left me wondering how it worked out in the long run with certain characters…
Maryse: I loved that one! And yes it was extremely painful at times.

Happy Friday! Ready for the weekend, just wish it was more restful. I’m so tired this week. Having bizarre dreams and not sleeping well. Just in a funk as well. Homecoming game tonight, soccer game, baby shower- more like a big outdoor party with everyone, not just women, another day & swim lessons + w/e home stuff. *sigh*
Reading The Lost Apothecary, finally, as I believe I got this one at this very time last year from my BOTM subscription. It’ll be the one to allow me to complete my 2021 reading challenge there. The 1st I’ll have ever completed. I think I’ll get a prize and sense of accomplishment. Lol! Might watch Midnight Mass (Netflix) if I can work up the courage and energy sometime this weekend.
I like prizes and accomplishments!!! 😀 YAY Tasha!!!!
I’ve actually been sleeping well maybe thanks to a dream catcher I received as a gift recently. Sleeping deeply and dreaming, and falling right back asleep soon after I wake up…
Get a dreamcatcher and see if it helps!! 😀
Maybe I will- I shall look. Couldn’t hurt anyway.
I just finished The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood. I’m pretty sure Tasha recommended it maybe?????
I have not gotten into a book this well in awhile. Slow burn deliciousness!!!!!!!! The writing is very good. It’s a fake dating trope but it was done so well. Oh, yay!!! This just made my day. 😀
I need to reread soon also.
I appreciate the recommendation!
OH!! I will add it to today’s list!! Thank you Lisa!! 😀
You’re welcome!!!!!
I know. I know. 🙂
So far, my top CR for 2021
Savage Bonds by J. Bree is coming out on the 28th. It’s the second book of her The Bonds That Tie series. The first book was a solid 3 stars for me. Can’t wait to read the second one. It’s a paranormal reverse harem story.
I went on a binge after reading Lola and the Millionaires and Pack Darling, both omegaverses reverse harem stories and finding some recommendations.
Find Me by Ashley N. Rostek is also very good book (3 solid stars as well). Reverse harem, but not paranormal. It’s about a girl in witness protection after an incident that left her pretty traumatized. Her neighbors are brothers and the hotties of the story of course.
The biggest problem for me in Pack Darling, The Bonds That Tie and Find me is that they are all series and I’ll have to wait (who knows all long) for the next book. But they were still worth it for me, specially Pack Darling (the second book was postponed till January).
I enjoyed The Love Hypothesis too.
I’m looking forward to the new Rachel Higginson, Decisions We Make After Midnight. Set in the Opposites Attract world. Comes out in a few days and I’ve pre-ordered 😀
I’m doing lots of rereading lately too. In these tricky times I’m finding myself reaching for those lovely comfort reads.
Jan, I’m also doing a lot of re-reading. I find it hard to find a new CR & so it’s easy to reach for a favourite. And yes, they are comfort reads.
I’m looking forward to Higginson’s book. I re-read The Opposite of You this summer & liked it even more second time around. Think I might re-read The Five Stages of Falling in Love, which I thought was great.
Just wondering what’s happening in Australia these days with COVID…schools, hospitals, passports, lockdowns… Good news is that you’re heading into warmer weather…
Hi Mony, I’ve reread some of The Opposite of You series too, and enjoyed them all over again. I think my fav was The Difference Between Us. I loved grumpy Ezra.
It’s not great down here with Covid. Lots of Delta cases spreading and the government is madly trying to get more people vaccinated as quickly as possible. Some crazy extremist protestors made the news, but there’s not much sympathy for them in most of the community. Sadly, covid won’t go away just because you want it to or you try to pretend it’s not real.
Schools still closed in my area, but hopefully opening in a few weeks. Australian football Grand Final today (kinda like our Superbowl). That should cheer everyone up (unless your team loses LOL). Yeah, I can’t wait for the warmer weather. Hope everything is going well for your area.
I will go back to my reread of Rosalind James books about hot rugby players while I wait for the new Higginson 😉
Hmm, doesn’t sound good Jan. Sorry to hear Delta is spreading rapidly there. It sure has thrown everyone a curve ball. Good thing there’s a big push to ramp up vaccination. Hope things go well with that. Tough on the kids & parents to have schools closed. Hope you’re doing ok with that as a teacher.
Here, our provinces are coping ok…we’ve been lucky…we’re at 85% with one dose & 80% with two doses (12+ pop.). Lots of continued lockdowns with exception of two provinces who stopped their preventive measures in August. Now their ICU beds totally filled, not enough ventilators, triaging, army staff coming, people being flown to other provinces. So sad. I’ve been thinking about the polio pandemic and wondering whether this divide happened then.
On a more positive note, yes to all those books! I think I need to re-read Rosalind James’ Stone Cold Kiwi with Dr. Matiu Te Mana. Ooh.
Stone Cold Kiwi – yes!! Dr. Matiu is hot! Maybe I’ll reread that one too. Apart from The Love Hypothesis, I checked and the last 6 or 7 books I’ve read have all been old fav rereads. *shrugs* Oh well, I’m enjoying them. I will def start the new Rachel Higginson when it hits my kindle tomorrow (in Australia) though 😀
Glad to hear of the high vax rates in your area. We’re only at about 50% fully vaxed (75-80% with one vax). But everyone here is really trying to get there now. We’re all so sick of lockdowns. Stay safe, everyone!
🙂
