Reader Question – The book where they were both abused in childhood, and she remembers seeing his punishment on the beach when she sees his scars…

Jin is looking for this one! It sounds familiar to me, and should considering I devoured books like these exactly a decade ago.

She asks:

Hey!

I’ve been looking for a book for the past 10 years. I forgot the name!

Just remember that both the protagonists were abused, specifically the hero was beaten by his father. The heroine was roommates with the hero’s siblings. They try to date but break up before getting together in the end.

The ending had a scene where she runs in a marathon while all the siblings cheer her from a truck?

Also the heroine realises that she knows the hero from their childhood where she has seen him during his punishment on a beach. He has scars or tattoos on his body I think.

Please help me find this book!
