Sometimes, I’ve got a few of hours to kill before “something”. Like say… while I wait in the car as my husband does his “man” shopping (instead of dragging my feet behind my husband at a home improvement store to stare at wood for hours. Or bricks). Or like, I dunno. A slow period during work (or an extra long break) where all you can do is sit and wait. An extra long wait in the waiting room. Oh! I know. A plain, train or automobile trip that could go by in a heartbeat if you had something awesome to read.
Book Review – The Sleep Tight Motel by Lisa Unger
The Sleep Tight Motel (Dark Corners collection)
So much story in such a quick read. Yes it’s short but it gave me goosebumps and… kind of warmed my heart, too!
Weird right? But there was a good message here, in its own way.
Nicole: I’ve listened to a couple of the others so far in the collection and mostly enjoyed them. The Sleep Tight Motel was pretty good…
Maryse: YAY!! I’m going to start “Sleep Tight Motel” next!!!! That one has really good reviews. The cat-cover one with that creepy title looks good too.
Book Review – Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Evidence of the Affair
SHORT (but great) STORY ALERT!! I was surprised (and totally into) the character “POV” with this one. By that title alone, you know you’re going into a grittier look at relationships. While it’s not a romance, it IS a love story, albeit… possibly the end of one.
Loaded in feelings and angst (and angry moments), but of course, when it comes to this author, you know that’s exactly what you’re going to get.
It is funny the crazy things our brains make up to save us from the truth.
Cards of Love Series
I LOVE THESE COVERS & THIS PREMISE!!! Very clever collection of romance novellas for this “Cards of Love” series and a gorgeous esoteric look perfect for this time of year. 😉 Each book is connected to a tarot card!!
“Pick your card.
Choose your fate.
Fall in Love.
Pick another card.
Fall in love all over again.
Which card will you choose?
Cards of Love series, featuring tarot-based stand alone stories written by over two dozen authors.”
Trick or treat? Looks like ALL treat, to me. 😉
THE SERIES (note: many are coming out in October, but may not have a preorder yet – I’ll update as they become available):
Alexa Riley – Cowboys & Virgins Series Reading Order
CRAZY-SOUNDING (maybe even fun!) PREMISE and I love the authors “warning” about these quick short, steamy-sweet stories!
Warnings like this one (*snort*) 😛
Warning: This short story is filthy good, with co-dependency at its peak! These two people are absolutely crazy, and it if wasn’t so sweet, it would be certifiable. Go ahead and suspend your reality while you float away with this cloud of ridiculous!
And book #4 was just released today!
About book #1:
Mary-Jane wasn’t looking for drama. All she wanted was a family of her own, so she decided to make that happen. A mix-up at the sperm bank leaves her with a baby in her belly, but the father is none the wiser.
Guest Review (my sister!!) – Wild by Eve Langlais, Kate Douglas & A. C. Arthur
Wild <— GOING LIVE IN JUST A FEW DAYS!!!
So… my sister came to my house and saw this cool review copy sitting on my desk. And she settled in, and devoured!! And guess what? She has a review!
P.S. I blushed through it and can’t stop laughing at my sister’s *ahem* descriptions. 😉
P.P.S. These are ALL shifters. *waggles eyebrows*
Review by Johanne Pearl Couturier
First story: Catch a Tiger by the Tail by Eve Langlais (3.5 stars)
Very short story, good rhythm, lots of secrets kept and a mood that feels like a Clark Gable movie.
