Happy Tuesday, wish it was Wednesday and better yet, the weekend! Last weekend was spent sitting at a soccer tournament all weekend. The highlight for me was a mini pancake food truck (and coffee too). I was a good girl who regrets getting the kid size with French cream drizzle and biscoff crumble topping. And a dirty chai. I would love a fall hike this weekend to re charge.
There are a couple of blurb jolts for me today- Play Nice, I got this one in my book of the month box. And Ghost Business sounds like my kind of catnip. I just finished Tricks of Fortune, which I didn’t figure out until 50 pages in that it was a sequel to Play the Fool. So I rerouted and read that first. I liked Play the Fool more, but it was nice reading a couple of fun mysteries. And then Heartbreak Hotel, I had high hopes/expectations and didn’t hit where I wanted. But, now! I picked up The Thrashers, which I bought in early summer, and my daughter inhaled it. And had my looking up lists for more of it and wishing for a tv show/movie. Told me to read it. Well, my tbr is insane. But, it automatically marked it as read on my goodreads and that counts as my personal challenge book so I thought, now is the time, it’ll be quick, I’ll read and rate it. Well, I stayed up way too late last night and am also inhaling it. Followed the author and am definitely grabbing her new fantasy book soon! Finally! I feel like I’ve been having a meh reading year. I get the ick too often and then just make myself finish because I’ve already invested so much time and energy. Also, read your 3 things- love that you’ve found a cheaper alternative to getting that desired look in your hair. Sounds beautiful and wish I was brave enough to try something like that. And your co worker hang sounds so fun! Love that you have a relationship with them outside of work also!
Happy weekend (finally!) LOL!! Actually it’s Sunday now, but I have Mondays off of work so I’m still “mid weekend” 🙂 Also YAY on the latest reads and recommendations ’cause I miss yours. “The Thrashers” sounds right up my alley.
I’m halfway through “The First Lie Wins” and enjoying it!! But I get what you mean… I just read 2 very popular romance books that were good but didn’t blow me away (The Love of my Afterlife & The Wedding People”) Good stuff and little interesting twists that kept me reading but just… nothing that I couldn’t put down. I miss that.
And thank you about my 3 things. I love that we all get along so well at work. Thank goodness for that. I’m loving all of the “at home” tricks I’m finding to improve myself.
Yes! That is exactly how I feel. Thrashers finally gave me that feeling I was missing. I had to make myself pick up and push through Frozen River a little bit. It’s one I’ve been wanting to read, finally decided to get the audio since I heard it was fantastic- and it is. But, as soon as too many characters get introduced, I get lost. So, I bought the paperback to read along with the audio. I’m actually invested now and it kind of gives it this cinematic? like experience.
I did also read First Lie Wins, loved it! And I also loved Love of My Afterlife. The Wedding People, I’m starting to get a little fomo about, but it’s not on my high tbr priority list.
Also, this weekend I did not get to recharge with a fall hike. Boo. Instead, I had a soccer game, laundry, cooking and laundry. And today, making lists of pick ups and drop offs for the week, more laundry, and more sport technique training because we’re not getting enough. 😅 Oh, and emailing a teacher on all things homework and technology and figuring out why in the world my 5th grader had us doing 4 hours of homework the other night. I’m going to put on my headphones and disappear into the 1700s soon.
