Reader Question – The book about the arranged marriage where he treats her badly at first…

Hi,

I’m looking for a romance book where our virgin heroin is being forced by her mother into an arranged marriage where the Hero mistreats her really badly at first.

But then he realises his error and try to make her come out of her shell.

Please let me know if someone knows this book. It has been eating me alive!😁

Cindy: Sounds like it could be The Kiss Thief by L.J. Shen

Kimia: I love Kiss Thief. It’s so good. It’s not the one I’m looking for tho!!!

Fiona: Hiya, Could it be Sparrow again by L.J. Shen; the H Troy is forced to marry the H namely Sparrow by his mobster dad who was murdered beforehand so Troy has to adhere to his dads’ wishes; he was really awful to Sparrow at the start but then behind the scenes he tried to make amends; huge miscommunications; a few twists; a slow burn; would recommend it anyhow….

Shaleen: This one came to mind at first as well, would also recommend.

Kimia: Loved Sparrow. But not the one that I’m looking for. The book that I’m looking for is not as popular as Sparrow and Kiss thief. It also isn’t mafia theme. 😊

Lindsay: I just read one a few weeks ago with an arranged marriage setup by Brides mom because the sister wouldn’t do it. The bride is an struggling artist and was only supposed to contact him in case of an emergency. Does this sound familiar?

Stacy: Hi Lindsay! I read that one too. It was To Have and to Hate by R.S. Grey.

Ivana: It reminds me of Virtue & Vanity by Astrid Jane Ray… I’ve read it a few years ago so I don’t remember all the details, but I know that h’s mom “blackmailed” her to marry the H because he was rich, h has just finished high school and wanted to become a writer. Her mom arranged this marriage with someone from H’s family or their staff, they had a doctor who examined h to make sure she was virgin and H treated her badly.

Fiona: I think this could be the one….

Ivana: I hope so… I’ve read a LOT of arranged marriage/ marital strife/ urequited love books and this one was my first guess (it left some bad taste in my mouth so I still remember it)

Kelly: I read that when it came out in 2016 and it was so good it ended up on my best of 2016 list.

Amber: Master of Salt & Bones by Keri Lake

Fiona: I don’t think it is this Amber…I have started reading Virtue and Vanity that Ivana recommended there; it is very good and does fit the brief…I am dying to know if this is the right one that Kimia is thinking about 😊😊

Mohau: Is it the unwanted wife by natasha anders? It’s an arranged marriage and the H hates the h because he thinks she forced the whole arrangement and they keep trying to conceive.

Fiona: Am not sure Mohau because Kimia mentioned that the mother forced the marriage onto the H however in this book which is another great read it was an arranged marriage forced on by the father of the bride so that the H would get back a piece of land his family had for years but lost….but yeah he was awful to the H and then tried to make it up to her…
