Gena Showalter – Alien Huntress Series Reading Order

by Maryse on September 26, 2010 · 14 comments

in Reading Order Guide:

As per the author’s website:

RIDDING THE WORLD OF EVIL, ONE ALIEN AT A TIME: That’s Mia Snow’s job.

Gena Showalter answers a “reading order” question in regards to this series:

Q: Seduce the Darkness was published before Tempt Me Eternally (from Deep Kiss of Winter) Yet the story in Tempt me Eternally comes first in the plot arc. Why?

A: I wrote Tempt Me Eternally first — which was originally slotted to come out in an anthology called Not That Innocent — yet it was actually published second.

Regarding the two YA (Young Adult) books, in this series:

Q: Where do Red Handed and Blacklisted fall in the Alien Huntress series? And will you be writing any more of the young adult alien huntress books?

A: Red Handed and Blacklisted are young adult novels, while the Alien Huntress series itself is an adult series. You do not have to read RH and BL to understand or follow the adult series. Or, if you just want to read the young adults, you don’t have to read the adults to understand the young adults. Their only connection is that they are written in the same world, in the same time frame, and several of the adult characters are teachers at the training school the characters of RH attend. As for whether there will be more or not, right now nothing is in the works. If that changes, I’ll update this answers.

Hi Steph!

Here is what I found on Gena’s site, regarding the inclusion of the YA books in this series:

“Red Handed and Blacklisted are young adult novels, while the Alien Huntress series itself is an adult series. If that changes, I’ll update this answers.”

I am just getting ready to start reading some Gena Showalter books for the first time. I think I would like to start with the Alien Huntress series. The newest book in that series sounds awesome! Should I start with book 1 of the series or can I start with the latest book first?

I’m really excited for the next installation of the series… I’ve read all the books in the series and after reading McKells & Av’s story I just wanted Dall to be the one to end up with Noelle… It’s a bit complicated if he ended up succumbing to the Schion queens mojo…ugh…But still I think Noelle and Hector make a cute pair…I just read “Dark Taste of Rapture” and am so excited for the next book… Hope you keep us all posted about it :)

Hi ljcool, have you heard of Love at Stake series….Amazing mix of paranormal characters and one of the most funniest and hottest novels I have read aside from Nalini Singh and Gena Showalter’s novels… Kerrelyn Sparks bought out the laughing maniac in me…

Thanks so much Karla…..I will definitely check out your suggestions.

Does anyone know when the next book will be coming out in the alien huntress series?

Just finished Ecstasy in the Darkness. LOVED IT!!!!! Do you know if she will be writing the next book?! I need to read Noelle’s book but I am hesitant since it takes place before the previous which i dislike when series backtrack. Is that the last of this series?!
