Personal Inspiration
This novel is more than a story—it’s a tribute to my late mother. Raised by a single mother who endured domestic abuse throughout her life, I witnessed her unwavering strength and resilience firsthand. When cancer took her from me in 2021, I was her caregiver, a role that profoundly shaped me and this book.
My mother always believed in my writing talent and encouraged me to pursue my passion. Writing under the pen name Christopher Kent is my way of honoring her, as it’s the name she dreamed of giving me if my father hadn’t been in the picture. This novel is my way of honoring her dreams for me and having the bravery to “go out and be it.”
Professional Inspiration
My writing has also been inspired by Colleen Hoover’s heartfelt storytelling and life story, Katya Millay, and Brandon Sanderson.
