Happy Monday everyone!! I’m here, and I’m working on this post (and also behind). It’s my week off of my normal life, so I’m taking things slow… π That said, keep checking back ’cause I’m nowhere near done with this list.
Three things:
1.) I finally wore my beautiful blue cashmere sweater. As soft as they are, I always have that touch of itchy… when I first put them on (I’m allergic to fur-things). But this time, it worked! I was able to wear it with no discomfort. I’ve tried to wear it 3 times since I bought it, and panic when I start feeling that prickle… but this time, it worked!!
2.) I need to wrap stuff this week. So much wrapping. I usually like doing it, so that will be my next project.
3.) I’m off work this week, and will also be lazy. π

1:) My wrapping is almost done! I’ve got one kid left, but I was quite the busy elf this past weekend, so I got a lot done. I put on my Xmas music and get at it. π
2:) I have three packages somewhere out there is postal land. The tracking details haven’t been updated in several days. I sent and email to the post office about one last Friday and believe it or not, someone from my local post office called me within three hours! I about dropped of shock! I honestly didn’t expect a call until after the new year. They were able to locate my package and assured me it will make it to my house, but no guarantee by Xmas Eve. Eh, at this point I’m ok with that, I just wanted to make sure I’d get it altogether.
3:) Today is tamale-making day for my family! We always serve a big mexican dinner on Xmas Eve (to honor our hispanic heritage) which consists of enchiladas, tamales, rice, beans, homemade salsa and guacamole, so today we are preparing the tamales which takes a few hours.
That sounds mouth watering!
Oh what I wouldn’t give for homemade tamales!!
Oooooh Tamales!!!!!! Your Christmas feast sounds incredible!!! I miss my “Quebec” feast that my grandmother would always prepare (and my mom too for that matter).
Meat pies, and potato pies and I am craving them badly. If I had access to one right now, I’d take a Mini Keto break for sure. π
1. Itβs my birthday week. I donβt usually celebrate all week, but I feel the need to be extra this year. π
2. I wrapped all afternoon into the evening yesterday. It was the only wrapping Iβd done this far and I was so stressed it wasnβt done sooner. Iβm not done but I feel SO much better! In my organizing of gifts, I discovered I didnβt buy enough for my oldest so I scrambled on Amazon last night and got a few things. Fingers crossed they come in time. She was the easiest bc she didnβt really want anything and also the hardest bc she didnβt really need/want anything. π
3. These next 3 days I will be organizing up a storm and cleaning. There is sooo much crap build up here, itβs affecting my zen which is super hard to find anyway. So, my hopes are to be cleansed by the 23rd and then shut myself off from the world for a week. Just chill with the kids and watch movies, play and read books.
Happy birthday my amazing book twin!!!! I received your “Best Of” List and that is going up next,
*happy dance* π
And I hope you find your Zen. I think I’ll be wrapping everything on Christmas Eve.
I plan on doing some deep cleaning and organizing next week! Like you, it throws me off too. This whole month has been so chaotic for my family. Unfortunately our entire household contracted COVID right after Thanksgiving so we were all sick for two weeks. Luckily, our kids had very little symptoms, but my fiance and I were pretty sick. It was like the flu, if the flu was on daily doses of steroids. Needless to say we didn’t get much done during that time so now we’re playing catch up. It’s a process lol. And Happy Birthday!!
OMG THAT SOUNDS INSANE!!
I’ve had flus (BAD ones) when I was in grade school and in college. And I remember one where I was SOOOOOOOO sick, I coughed, couldn’t breathe, had infections, couldn’t move because of terrible bone aches, felt like my brain was going to explode from the pain, and puffing on my inadequate asthma inhaler.
DAYS of just laying there sweating and shivering and hurting all over, and burning from the lungs.
COVID SCARES ME BAD.
1. My team won a super important game last night and I’ll be riding that high all week!
2. I finished The Fall in Love Checklist and LOVED it!! Now I’m reading All I Want for Christmas and it’s giving me One Day in December feels!
3. My poor Alice is now on day 21 wearing the cone of shame and she seems to be used to it now which is heartbreaking!
Sorry to hear about Alice, R.! Whatβs wrong with her, if you donβt mind my asking?
I hope this isnβt our new normal with our dog. And around Christmas too is the worst!
Iβve scheduled an appointment with the pricey vet an hour away just to get confirmation on what we actually need to treat (if we can) and Iβm dreading the bill, and the process bc of Covid, but also hope for an easy answer.
Iβm currently washing bedding and diapers multiple times a day bc of his meds and have begun placing training pads all over to try and eliminate the amount of clean up.
She has an abscess with a really bad bacterial infection. We’ve been to the vet 3 times and she’s on her 3rd round of antibiotics and 4th cone. I think we’ve finally got it though. It looks like it’s healing. She’s getting groomed tomorrow so her vet will pop in and look at it. Fingers crossed!!
My Momβs dog had a lot of problems with his eye needing drained and getting infected. Theyβve gone through a lot with that over the last year so I think it can be just as difficult, just different. I hope it really heals this time!
I think it was misdiagnosed the first 2 times and that the only reason we finally got somewhere is because of my vet tech friend who kept telling me we needed to be doing hydrotherapy! After the 3rd visit, they agreed and it miraculously started healing.
Glad itβs working!
Poor thing! We’ve been there with our cat Wolfgang. He was fighting with another neighbourhood cat. So territorial! The vet said it would be a cat bite that caused the abscess. He had three over a period of months, and had to wear the cone of shame each time and be locked inside 24-7 till better. He HATED it, poor little guy. Now we lock him inside every night and haven’t had any more problems thank goodness. Hope Alice is better soon.
Cats are for sure! We have an outdoor cat who’s very territorial!
Thank you! I hope so too. I’m just happy to be nearing the end of it. It’s been a long month!
Tasha, that sounds miserable! I hope they’re able to do something! Alice’s wound was draining a lot in the beginning but it was mostly on the bedding so not a huge deal. I can’t imagine how exhausting it is to have to wash that often. I’m glad the training pads are helping. I don’t think Alice would know what to do with one.
He doesnβt either, I stuff them in his diaper, which is a belly band, and if they go through, which they have cuz itβs just fabric stuffed with training pads and I wasnβt putting enough in, Iβve draped one over his bed and he hasnβt moved it. Since he goes there so often, I thought that best. And I place them in the spots he usually leaves me a pile. I got lucky today and he kept it on the bed pad and his diaper held the most. So far. Iβm just trying to catch the majority basically so Iβm not going through so many rolls of paper towels a day.
I remember seeing on Facebook, a really clever “cone of shame” that wasn’t so obnoxious for the dog. I need to look the up again.
I’m almost done Sorrow. Liking it, had a cool twist, and yet It’s a slow-paced. Beautiful writing no doubt about it.
Considering how “gentle” it’s being on me, I have no idea how it will end, and knowing Tiffanie DeBartolo, a shock MUST be coming my way.
We got her this inflatable one and it didn’t bother her at all, but it only works if the wound is in the front. Hers is on her bohiney unfortunately. https://amzn.to/34AZCzY
*bohiney* Tee hee!!! π
Maryse, I sent you an email, but I didnβt send it through my email. I did it on this fancy Mac computer so it doesnβt show up on my email, but it does on this little mail stamp app thing. So, lemme know if it doesnβt work, but if it does, I feel like Iβm smarter with this computer. Even if I have to google everything I do.
YAY!!! I got it! π That’s going up next. *claps with glee*
I just finished Rocket Science by Emily Mayer. Thank you so much to all that recommended this book. It had me smiling all the way through. Devney Perry’s Runaway Road is on sale for .99. I need to rake the leaves today (giving my son a day off:) and then wrap the remaining gifts. Hard to motivate as I’m still in my Pjs!
I need to read it… too many of your are loving it. π Thank you Kathy!
Not sure if anybody mentioned it but Lauren Gilley release a new book. New series. Heart of Winter. The Drake Chronicles Book 1. Havenβt started it, but it should be good.
Thanks for posting, Randi. I might try that one. Fantasy, dragons, romance, Viking inspired mythology. Intriguing π I struggled a bit with the Sons of Rome series. Too many vampires and not enough romance for me. But I will check this new series out. Lauren Gilley writes so well.
Thank you Randi!! I’m going to search for it right now.
