Author Caroline Hanson just sent me another interview from the RWA, with another popular Indie author! Tina Folsom, author of three terrific paranormal series that have come highly recommended by fellow readers (and myself!).

If you love vampires, you must check out hers!:

PLUS!!! Tina has offered to give away a copy of Edge of Passion: Cloak Warrior (Volume 1) - see the end of the interview for details.
Her alpha males sure have captured so many of us, (whether they be vampire, Greek gods or other paranormals), and I can’t wait to see what’s brewing!

 1. Tell us a “tidbit” or a secret about your upcoming projects that we might not already know?

I’m working on Quinn’s Undying Rose, Scanguards 6. Also in this book, the villain has a special relationship with a character from a previous book and his fate (whether he will live or die) is not yet determined.

2. What music do you write to?

Zilch. I need it totally quiet.

3. What surprise character or story twists did you not see coming?

That’s hard because I do plot everything out so I don’t get taken by surprise.

4. What’s your favorite book that you’ve written?

My favorite book is Zane’s Redemption (Scanguards Vampires #5) and it deals with the holocaust. My family suffered with the holocaust and my grandfather was a political prisoner who was executed at Dachau. My hero survived horrendous experiments and I did a lot of research. It was very emotional to see what was done to these people and I spent a lot of crying. A lot of people didn’t get justice and that was important to me, for my hero to have that. I think it’s my best book and my most emotional book. My readers love it the most too.

5. Favorite book by someone else?

That’s hard. I have a lot of favorites. I don’t have an absolute favorite.  One of my favorite paranormal’s  is Kiss of Crimson (The Midnight Breed) by Lara Adrian. Dante was a bad boy hero that should never get married or blood bonded to somebody, so I like the juxtaposition of him falling in love.  For historical one of my favorites was Three Nights of Sin by Anne Mallory. It was more the stews of London rather than the typical depictions of ton events. And the sex was great.

sidenote from Maryse: She loves bad boys!!! An author after my own heart!

6. Favorite Food?

7. What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

OMG I’ve told them everything! My penname is a shortening of my real first name and my last name is because of a street I used to live on in SF. I wanted a name that was short and easy to find by my fans.

8. Who would you like to meet?

That’s hard because I’ve met most of the people that I wanted to meet. To be honest at this point I would want to shake Obama’s hand. I am not an American but I benefit from what this country has to offer.

9. Are you a dog or a cat person?

Dog: allergic to cats.

10. Favorite pizza topping?

11. Favorite TV show?

Frasier.  It’s uplifting.

12. Favorite romance?

While You Were Sleeping. I love Bill Pullman. He was this sexy, non-threatening guy. I thought the concept was wonderful.

13. Who is your celeb crush?

Hugh Jackman.

Thanks Tina!! That was great and you rock!

Now for the book giveaway!!

Tina is giving away one copy of her latest book release: Edge of Passion: Cloak Warrior (Volume 1)

How to enter for a chance to win it? Just leave a comment below, and Friday night (Friday August 3rd 2012) by 10pm EST, I will randomly select one winner.

The winner will be contacted and will have 48hrs to respond with a mailing address (must respond by Sunday August 5th 2012 – 10pm EST at the latest), so if you are picked, do not delay or you will lose your chance.

Here’s a suggestion. If you want to enter to win the book, leave your comment, and you may also pre-send me your mailing address, by email, in case you do win (please don’t post it in your comment). In a couple of my past giveaways, there were some issues with getting the mailing address on time, so to avoid this, if I pick your name, and I already have your address, then all is good. Sorry for my international readers, this is a open to U.S. residents only (but you’re welcome to comment and join in any time!!).

And while you’re here, if you haven’t already joined me (actually “us”, ’cause we’re a big group now) on Facebook and Twitter, whatcha waiting’ for?!

Look! I found this fun picture from a past convention, with both Caroline Hanson & Tina Folsom!! I had to show it again!

I find it is always fun to read a book from a new author. If I like it then I usually tell my friends that they should check it out as well. I loved the Q&A.

Love Tina! I met her at a signing. She’s nice and sweet.

rita August 3, 2012 at 8:13 PM

I love all of Tina’s books. Loved the interview but am surprised that she doesn’t write her books spontaneously. They have so many twists and turns it’s hard to believe they’re plotted out.

Nicole August 3, 2012 at 10:09 PM

Would love to get hooked on a new author!

Minha (Brazilian Girl) August 4, 2012 at 7:55 PM
