In celebration of this exciting Halloween-Month (my FAVORITE, other than Christmas month!!), I’ve been featuring fun spooky book-related stuff like my two latest horror book reviews (Bird Box by Josh Malerman and The House by Christina Lauren), and I have two “Reader-Favorites” list coming out this Saturday (one of them features favorite scary books from a very famous horror-author).
And I was exceptionally delighted when I received this little fun “Behind The Books” nugget about something an author experienced while writing (and revising) her latest upcoming book. It’s almost… creepily poetic, in a way. 😉
Ready? 😀
Hi Maryse.
I have a truly spooky story for you, about my next release… His Temporary Fix (a Love at the Beach novella) comes out 26 October, from Entangled Select.
The Marguerite coincidence
I was up against a tight deadline to get the edits completed, and I was struggling to do them at home. In frustration I grabbed my laptop and headed out to a local cafe, one I’d only been to once or twice before.
His Temporary Fix is a romance written around the mysterious circumstances of a young woman’s death. Her name was Marguerite (Marnie), and she worked in a café in a quiet village very similar to my own. The cafe I headed for that day, is the one I’d had in mind for Marguerite’s place.
Anyway, I rattled through most of the outstanding revisions, and as the cafe was about to close, I prepared to leave. In the tiny bathroom, a single picture hung on the wall – a sprawling white daisy-like flower, with the word Marguerite underneath it.
I’d been joking to myself that I was channelling her spirit by going there in the first place – and that was before I saw the picture in the bathroom. Soooo…. channelling the spirit of a fictitious dead girl… all in a weekend’s work * grin *
Eeeeep! I LOVE this. I feel like it was a “good” message, just for you, Sofia.
About His Temporary Fix (Love at the Beach):
Holly Jacobs loses her heart a little too easily. Never again. But when she meets the sexy soldier on the beach, Holly knows she’s in big trouble. Zack Winter is gorgeous and in pain, and when he kisses Holly, all of her resolve melts away…
Zack is on short-term leave to attend a funeral, and he’s walking a fine line. The loss is unbearable…and he’ll do whatever it takes to distract himself from it. Especially if it means a night of searingly-hot sex with Holly Jacobs. Only his brilliant idea isn’t exactly going according to plan.
One night isn’t nearly enough. But if it goes much longer it might end in broken hearts…
Thank you for telling my story 🙂

I loved it, Sofia! I just read it to my sister, and she was grinning.
Cool story, thank you for sharing 🙂
