For those that don’t know what these new featurettes will be about, here is the scoop! “You’ll Never Believe…” will feature the weirdest questions or encounters that authors have been asked/had. Might be about their books or random things, like meetings in a bathroom where someone asked what brand of toilet paper they normally use. Fun stuff and inside scoops that an author would not normally share.
Today’s “You’ll Never Believe…” celebrates the release of Crystal Green’s latest book “Hot and Bothered (Rough and Tumble Series Book 3)”. In this one, the author tells us about a young fan, wanting her to sign her much more “adult” book.

This happened several years ago…
I write under two pen names—as Crystal Green, I’m all about sexy contemporary stories like Hot and Bothered from my Rough and Tumble series, or Honeytrap, a new adult book from my Aidan Falls series. But I also have a dark urban fantasy side as Chris Marie Green.
I always thought my basic readership for my CMG Vampire Babylon series was 18+. After all, there are some pretty…erm…adult things happening on those pages! So at an RWA signing when my first wonderful reader raced to my station, I was caught off guard.
Yes, I was really excited that she was bouncing up and down with enthusiasm as she grabbed my latest Vampire Babylon book and held it out for me to sign. But I was stunned as my gaze took in her Twilight T-shirt, then her braces, then her very, very young face.
She couldn’t have been more than twelve, and I wasn’t sure how to ask her if she was thinking my books were from a different series. (Okay, let me explain here—I was an eighth-grade teacher at the time, and I was always watching what my students read then running the titles by their parents. So I was ultra-aware!)
I risked a test question. “Great! You read the first book, Night Rising?”
She eagerly nodded and said how much she loved it and how she couldn’t wait to read Midnight Reign.
I came this close to adding, “Does your mom know you read these?” but I didn’t. Maybe her mom was a fan, too, and they read them together?
Then I recalled that when I was twelve, I was reading Stephen King and Flowers in the Attic. Ah, how soon we forget. It’s just that I felt like a corrupting force with my wonderful young reader!
At any rate, I hope she’s still out there reading my books. ☺
