Welcome to the nineteenth installment of “You’ll Never Believe…”
For those that don’t know what these new featurettes will be about, here is the scoop! “You’ll Never Believe…” will feature the weirdest questions or encounters that authors have been asked/had. Might be about their books or random things, like meetings in a bathroom where someone asked what brand of toilet paper they normally use. Fun stuff and inside scoops that an author would not normally share.
Today’s “You’ll Never Believe…” celebrates the release of Meghan March’s latest book “Beneath This Ink“, and she tells us about how she made it happen!
You’ll Never Believe… by Meghan March
“I know this piece is supposed to be about something strange that happened to me, but I have the tendency to want to make things happen. So instead, you’re getting a story about something a little crazy that I did. On purpose.
I can be a little bold sometimes. The best outlet for my lack of filter is my writing, because it’s fun and interesting when characters say or do something shocking. But let’s pretend you do that stuff in real life. Now your name is Meghan.
I was at an outdoor, all day concert—country, because I’m a HUGE fan. You can like it or hate it, but I’m unapologetic about the fact that I love the twang and the songs that tell stories about the loves and losses of ordinary people. I’m also a country girl, and I like to tote my shotgun out to the back forty and shoot skeet, so I came by my passion for country music pretty naturally.
Back to the concert. I saw the radio station guy cutting through the crowd so I jumped out in front of him and stopped him.
“Do you have any backstage passes?” I’d asked.
He hadn’t even looked shocked. I guess he was used to being stopped for that exact reason. He stuck his hand in his pocket and dug out a wristband.
“Just one.”
I looked to where my mom was sitting with my brother and his wife and their four kids, and looked back at the radio station guy. I took the wristband, thanked him, and he told me to come to the back stage fence in about a half hour.
I sat back down next to my mom and offered it to her (because I’m a good daughter). And because she’s an amazing mom, she shook her head and told me to go.
So I did.
I waited anxiously for the thirty minutes to pass and made my way to the fence and the security guy guarding the backstage entrance. Already a decent size line of people had gathered, so I stood semi-patiently, excited at the prospect of meeting a couple of the artists. When the radio station folks finally came to get us, I was practically bouncing with excitement. Bouncing. Because I’m easily excitable, and I suck at playing it cool.
We were all led behind the huge stage to a section that was blocked off by tall fences covered in banners and such so you couldn’t see through them. There stood one of the artists. He was in front of the big radio station banner, posing for pictures which each person and signing autographs, which is nothing out of the ordinary for these types of meet and greets.
I waited in line, got my picture and autograph and was supposed to head out the way I came in.
But I didn’t.
Because I’d noticed the tent set up ten yards away with a big spread of food for the artists and people back stage.
I’d also noticed the guy sitting alone at one of the tables eating a steak. A super sexy guy with a voice to die for who had just finished performing his chart-topping single.
I looked to see if anyone was watching—and they weren’t. So I wandered under the tent.
And pulled out the chair next to him.
And sat down in it.
And introduced myself.
And asked if I could join him for lunch.
He said yes.
I spent the next half hour eating steak and shooting the shit with someone whose voice I’d been hearing regularly on the radio for months.
It. Was. Awesome.
As badly as I want to disclose his name, I won’t. I’m sure he forgot about me the moment he climbed on his tour bus, but suffice it to say, it was a lunch I will never forget.
Moral of this story: Don’t wait for things to happen—make them happen.”

I’ve always known she was too good for me, but that never stopped me from wanting her.

A night I don’t remember.

About the Author
Meghan March has been known to wear camo face paint and tromp around in woods wearing mud-covered boots, all while sporting a perfect manicure. She’s also impulsive, easily entertained, and absolutely unapologetic about the fact that she loves to read and write smut. Her past lives include slinging auto parts, selling lingerie, making custom jewelry, and practicing corporate law. Writing books about dirty talking alpha males and the strong, sassy women who bring them to their knees is by far the most fabulous job she’s ever had.
