Good afternoon! Long weekend is over and boy, was it a doozy! I’m soooo exhausted. Tempted to lie down and read for a half hour but afraid I’ll fall asleep. Rents’ are downsizing so spent all morning cleaning the now bare old house with a sick toddler in tow. Last night was rough, we both got about 1.5hrs. Bonus- finished my book, finally, this morning before school! Loved it!
Ok, so, remember how I said I hoped to make memories this weekend? Well, I sure did! Kids camped out as previously planned. Strung lights on the trampoline, it was beautiful!
Next day, took down the rickety swing set, with tools! Hurt my finger, but nothing too serious.
Then, the shed caught on fire. The one we spent about a month re-siding and painting and making new doors for and a new firewood rack (to keep the wood dry bc we’d never had protection before). Called the fire dept. and everything. Good samaritans alerted us to it and helped tame it some. Hubs broke his foot in an epic hop over the baby gate.
We did the caverns! They were beautiful and fun to go through.
Then hung out at the campsite for the kids to hang w/friends.
Cookouts and boating all day yesterday.
I’m really struggling to keep positive here, lol. 😅
LOL my friend!!
That is a mess! But some good memories mixed in with the messes at least. And one day… you’ll laugh over this weekend’s messes.
I broke up with my boyfriend this weekend. Last night. My heart hurts. Contemplated not talking about it… but maybe if I allow myself to be vulnerable I will be better?
I feel like I’m too old for this.
Oh no!! I’m sorry it hurts. I know even if it’s for the best it’s gonna hurt for a while. Let yourself go through the emotions and heal, you’ll get there. You are most definitely not too old for it though! Sending virtual hugs to you! ❤️
Thank you Tasha. I’m going home from work in a few minutes and I’m just going to hole up in bed and try and sleep this away. Though work calls again in the morning…
It was MY September (the part that was good that I mentioned) but it came crashing down.
😔 You will have some good too. Take time for you when you can and we’re here for you!
Oh no. Thinking of you Maryse.I hope your heart hurts less in the days to come. It is never easy having to make that decision. Take Care.
Thank you so much Kathy. I just want to curl up in a ball and cry but I still have to “function”. I don’t want to so much.
Thinking of you Maryse!!! Ditto on what Tasha J said. She said it so beautifully!!! Virtual hugs from me!!
I love you guys. I seriously do. Very thankful.
Oh Maryse, I’m so sorry to hear that. That really hurts. I think it helps to share. I’ll be thinking of you and am sending good vibes your way. 💕
Sorry Maryse. Definitely take time to take care of yourself.
Oh Maryse, my heart hurts for you. Relationships ending are always painful, no matter the reason.
❤️
all I want to do is sleep. I can’t wait to go home so I can sleep again. I’ve never slept so hard for so many days (and usually I’m an insomniac).
Oh Maryse! I’m just so sorry ~ heartbreak doesn’t know age by the way … sadly I don’t think there’s any such thing as too old. I just hate that you’re going through this ~ breakups are never easy. Sending virtual hugs!
❤️
I just need to sleep and maybe I’ll be better…
So sorry you’re going through that Maryse. It hurts, even when you know it’s the right decision. Warm hugs (and a lemon drop martini) sent your way from Down Under.
I love Lemon Drop Martinis. Thank you 🙏 ❤️
OMG Tasha!!!!! Yikes!
You didn’t just make family memories, you made a family legend.
Right? Lol. The fire of 2021 will absolutely be talked about even when my kids are grown. Cautionary tale. We’re taking down the fire pit.
Oh my goodness Tasha. What an eventful weekend. Hope your hubs foot is OK. Oh well, one day you’ll look back at that weekend and laugh.
Thanks. I think he’ll be fine. All could’ve been much worse. I just keep reminding myself of that.
Book rec and FLT!! I started The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood a couple days ago and really dug into it more yesterday and I finished it!! Binged it all day, couldn’t put it down. Feels so good, I missed that. And a romance at that. I feel like I don’t read enough of them anymore, but when I do and it’s a good one, I feel so happy! So, back to the book, I smiled and laughed throughout. Loved the academic setting and science talk, it wasn’t done so bad that it went over my head and Olive was down to Earth and relatable. And the fake dating trope can go one of 2 ways with me, I really liked it here. Dr. Carlsen was the perfect mix of like grumpy-ish, but sweet, and a little mysterious, and I really loved the banter and dynamic between the 2. For me, it was a little bit of a slow burn. Or at least I loved the build up to that first really good all in the feels scene, ya know? It was just enough without being too much. Conflict was a little annoying, but most of them are. Didn’t deter my joy. Lol! Loved the writing in this one and would love to read more by the author.
And, the FLT- “My husband doesn’t recognize my face.” Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney
Thanks for the recommendation Tasha! Looks like it’s right up my alley plus it’s 4.5 on Goodreads.
Good timing. I’m having a hard time finding a book match these days. It Happened One Summer & The Sinner had a lot of strengths but I couldn’t connect. I think this one & A Deal with the Devil will make me a happy camper.
Hmm, hope they hit the spot!
I did really enjoy It Happened One Summer. But, more the first half than the 2nd. All the sex was too overdone for me. I missed the banter.
It Happened One Summer. Yea, still need the story to keep going…
I dont like this author at all. I started 3 of her books and was only able to finish one.
Which author, Raquel?
FLT
Good versus evil. Comic books make it look so easy.
A Deal With The Devil by Elizabeth O’Roark
