Mona: Hey Maryse, have you chosen your Amazon Prime First Reads for December? I picked Unspeakable Things by Jess Lourey.
I was up until 1:30am reading it, fell asleep but woke back up about 3:30am thinking about the book so I picked it back up and finished it at 6:30am. It is fiction, but was inspired by the assaults on boys in Minnesota in mid to late 1980’s and the abduction of Jacob Wetterling.
It is written from the POV of Cassie, a 12 year old girl that rides the same school bus as the boys. There are other unspeakable things happening in her life but I don’t want to give any spoilers. I will say, and hope this isn’t too much of a spoiler, Cassie decides she should find out who is attacking these boys.
Maryse: Okay I just chose the one you just read!! It sounds awesome!!!

That is a great price for the Lani Lynn Vale box set. I love her series and they rarely go on sale. Unfortunately, I bought all of these books at full price. Defiinitely recommend getting and reading if you can part with your Christmas money. She definitely writes the Alpha characters.
She’s a blurb-jolt QUEEN!!!
I WANT TO READ ALL of her books, ’cause the stories all sound unique and addictive.
I have so many emails saying my things are on there way. May of went overboard, lol. One already came. Oh, well. No real buyer’s remorse because I know I can put myself on a strict budget when needed. That’s for January.
Agree. Me too. Everything I got was stuff to make my life much easier (including the new laptop). I get so frustrated with how slow this one is when I’m on a roll, and it can’t keep up with me.
Would I be non-functional without this stuff? No. But I like it when things are much easier and more comfortable so I don’t have to re-coordinate/re-adjust everything just to do something I want to do. That’s my favorite. 🙂
I picked Unspeakable Things too! Though I can’t even fathom when I might read it!
Sometime after your tenth re-read of Someday, Someday….*kiss kiss*
Whatevs! I’m interchanging it with How to Walk Away! And then I think I’ll continue my KC marathon along with more Professor Gabriel of course.
All good choices!!
How to walk away is perfect!
I loved it!!
Some randoms- I’m watching the newest season of Atypical on Netflix. Still just as funny and hearfelt as before, I love this show.
I got an Irish cream latte at Starbucks this morning, mmmm love that flavor.
More packages came today. The kids all excitedly ask what that is and my answer is almost always, I don’t remember. *snort*! I also didn’t remember I actually do still need a handful of things, but I’m getting lazy in my perusal.
Sent out the last of our homemade Xmas cards today. I even made my own corny little jingle for it. *pats back* This is the 1st year we’ve ever done Xmas cards.
My kitty’s scratch pad (Tessa’s rec) came and a scratching pole came AND he actually uses them. Thanks!
I started back in on Nora Robert’s The One the other night and I’m loving it. I love the whole apocalypse type genre, but I can’t say I’ve ever read about rebuilding civilization, if that’s where this is heading. It’s different and fresh, for me.
Confession- I’ve developed a bad habit of reading the end of books before I get there. I know, I know, *ducks* but it always feels like I won’t get another chance to get to it and I just HAVE to see!! It takes a great deal of restraint not to do it. I don’t with thrillers.
Which reminds me, I’ve also picked up Unspeakable Things for December firsts, but I also really want to read This is Not How It Ends. The blurb caught me and then the mention of Katherine Center’s How to Walk Away sold me. I hope u like it Robin!
And, I’m looking forward to Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You and want to try Chicagoland’s Heirs off this list.
Oh! And, I baked my sweet potatoes, for Thanksgiving, with a head of garlic per a recipe I found from clean food crush. I didn’t use the entire head, but used fresh rosemary cuz that’s all my store had. It was 👌 just what I wanted.
So glad the thing worked for you! Yay overpriced cardboard! Lol
You’re reading The One? Oooh 🙂
Loving L.J. Shen Unlikely Event. Listening on Audio. The accents are so fun.
I hear there’s a part (sex?) that is jaw-dropping/shocking??
I’m very into pillows as of late and have decided to get my daughter a reading pillow for Xmas as her “need”. We don’t update pillows often enough and who doesn’t want propped comfortably while trying to read or play video games (her big Xmas gift is a game system). So, I’m searching for the right 1 bc there are so many out there and I’m already plotting how I might need 1 and maybe my son could use one and what’s this headboard pillow I see? That could’ve made things so much easier over the years. Anyone else have this problem? Or, better yet, who has a reading pillow? Which one should I buy? 😂 You know, the kind that look like chairs with a back and armrests…
I love pillows too! I want them all!!
Woke up to my Spotify yearly wrap up. I LOVE these, lol.
I’m sick so I’ve been reading a lot. I finished Enemies by Tijan last night and big heart hurt. (Though, football note, the scoring spot is called an end zone, not safety. Safety is tackling the team in their end zone.)
That said, then I went to Teardrop shot. Actually better and i didnt expect that. It starts you out laughing and yet, towards the end your crying, even with the HEA. Tore my heart in pieces because so much starts with that happy cute feeling then emotions start to see in. At first it’s all sad. Okay. No tears. But then the emotions really come out and I couldn’t stop feeling all the sadness. Still. HEA.
FLT: “I stared at the folder in Griff’s hands.” Awakening: The Deception Trilogy, Book 2 by Fallon Hart.
I’m desperately trying to finish my GR Levels Challenge and this is the shortest trilogy I could find! It’s really fun though!!
With best intentions with my TBR list, I just re-read Rock Chick with Indy & Lee. One of my cozy reads. Just what I needed. Love how Lee & the guys keep pulling their reluctant sassy girls back into their orbit. Good read.
Now reading Fae Chronicles. Turns out re-reading…was 2/3 through first book & recognized a scene. Sigh. In my defence, it was 5 yrs ago & didn’t make much of an impression then. Good news, I love it this time around & it’s like an almost fresh read. 🙂 Thanks Ela!
Good to hear some of you are in a good reading groove. A virtual champagne toast to you! ❤
